The concrete-block case

The moron who threw an eight kg block of concrete from the Princes Street overbridge onto Auckland’s southern motorway has had his murder trial begin today.

I note he was willing to plead guilty to manslaughter. However I think the Police and Crown Law have been quite correct to charge him with murder instead of manslaughter.

Dropping an eight kg concrete block onto a car from a great height is almost guaranteed to kill or maim. And what a totally senseless way for the victim to die.
