A good Wellington weekend

Summer arrived in Wellington around three months late, but it looks to be staying late also. Today was another nice Wellington day. Decided to ditch the car and walked from my parent’s place in Roseneath back to Thorndon, around the waterfront. Ran into a few people I know (as you do in Wellington) and nicely wasted much of the afternoon.

Last night met up initially with the infamous Alex Foulkes of Princes Street Labour, through a mutual friend. Alex is on the “hard left” of Labour so we didn’t agree on much except republicanism, but was a fun conversation. During the evening also ran into Russell Brown (and friends) who was on his way to a bash. Reminded me again how you always run into people here.

Had a quick dinner at the Oaks Noodle House. For $8 you get a remarkably large bowl of soup. A good place for a quick and cheap fill up.

Oh had a look over a the Southern bypass which opened today. Seemed fairly congested. Will have to see if it improves over time.
