Well, to start it off … doesn’t Helen look old and tired while her mouthings are starting to sound like a cracked 78 offering nothing except a regurgatation of the same failed policies that have positioned NZ 22nd in the OECD rankings.

What happended to the bold promise to move us into the top half?

Long discarded along with her credibility. But she enjoys a good partner in Winston Peters. Perfect match.

National’s Environment policy has sunk like a stone with the public. Where is the vision? Where is Guy Salmon? Where is green side-swopper Ian Ewan-Street. What a flop! Wasn’t it Nick Smith’s plan to grab the green vote to sail to victory? What happened? Is Eric Roy your problem? Too many hunters spoil the plot!

Winston Peters is frequently on various blogs referred to as being Clarks ‘poodle’. Now help is at hand for Helen as I’ve found some advice for her on how to handle her poodle. Note this applies to miniature poodles and seeing that the poodle in question is bit of a short arse himself it seems appropriate. The most relevant advice for Helen is in bold:

UNSTABLE TEMPERAMENTS: Poodles are a dime a dozen, and most of them are bred and offered for sale by people who don’t have the slightest idea of how to breed good-tempered dogs. Obedience instructors and behavioral consultants see LOTS of Poodles with neurotic behaviors, including snappiness, extreme fearfulness, and hyperactivity.

PROVIDING ENOUGH SOCIALIZATION: Poodles need extensive exposure to people and to unusual sights and sounds. Otherwise their natural caution can become shyness or suspiciousness, which are difficult to live with and could even lead to defensive biting.

GROOMING: To keep their curly coat short and free of mats, Poodles require regular brushing, and also clipping and trimming every 4 to 6 weeks. Please don’t have your Poodle clipped into the ridiculous patterns worn by show dogs. Poodles can simply be trimmed short, with short ears, a rustic whiskery face, and no pompoms on their head or feet or tail. Poodles definitely don’t have to look like sissies.

BARKING: Poodles are often too quick to sound the alarm at every new sight and sound. You have to be equally quick to stop them. For the same reason, Poodles should NEVER be left outside in your yard, unsupervised.

Nationals Greatest Danger:

I think that there would be very few whom would disagree that National will achieve a greater percentage of the party vote than Labour. My concern is will they get sucked into the “We will rule alone” attitude just like they did in the last election.

As we are operating under MMP let us use it properly and wisely. National no doubt WILL get the first opportunity to form a Government, but under the current political climate I would not be 100% confident that they will be the Government. Labour with the Greens and the Maori party are strong and formidable opposition.

National needs to keep very aware of seats that they hold and their MP has a very high list position (such as Epsom and East Coast Bays) as they may well be better to let those candidates take the seat on the Electorate vote thus gaining more support in the house.

We certainly don’t won’t the current lot for any longer as there won’t be anyone left to turn out the lights when everyone leaves the country!

It is often said the only thing we learn from History is that we don’t learn from History.

Let’s not repeat previous mistakes, think wisely and vote wisely. Make sure our two votes produce the best overall results!

GJ – i’m more worried about the media scaremongering over the “national will govern alone” thing.

like its some terrible think that should never be considered blah blah

That and National need to figure out how to cope with Labours screaming during debates. ya just know when Key is trying to speak, Helen will be screaching “loss of jobs” or some stupid slogan like that.

Did anyone catch 3 news with an interview with the young man performing in “On the Possibilities of Helen Clark taking me as her young lover”?

What a tool! When asked what he thought when he saw John Key, he said, “I’d like to heatbutt him”

Sadly typical of the loony left fringe and it does them no credit. Keep it up guys! 18% and climbing?

Amazed that the sad and sorry woman has so far avoided the label of presiding over one of the most unpopular governments this country has ever seen… I’m guessing those sort of labels will come after the election. The huge poll gap that has been maintained for over a year has somehow failed to draw such conclusions in the MSM… not so for the hapless Gordon Brown.

Did anybody catch Klark on breakfast TV this morning?, Paul Henry asked her if she was concerned about the widening gap in the polls, her response was hilarious, despite asserting that she was not in the least worried she began her reply with a cheap shot…

slightlyrighty (8:33am) – the “tool” may suspect that JK was responsible for defacing the posters advertising the show, hence his violent posturing.

Posters I saw advertising the play during the weekend had “Helen Clark…young lover” amended to “Helen Clark’s husband…young lover”. Too easy really, the prat should have seen that coming!

philu: I didn’t do NCEA maths so perhaps I have a “different” understanding of addition, but if the latest poll were the election result, you could combine every party together except National, and the National Party would still govern alone with 66 seats. If “mmp-math (sic)” gives a different result, surely it is time to reject MMP and return to a system where 1 + 1 does, indeed, equal 2.

dime..labour dropped 2 points..the margin of error was 3.1%

so..given this polling was done at the height of the anti-peters lynch-party hysteria..

..(before the current backlash..)

..labour will take heart..

..and..for those same reasons..

..national should be very worried..

..the green vote will strengthen..

..labour will reap some of the benefit from that backlash..

..and it is ‘game on’..

..the only way for national to go is down..

..which brings their desperate and dateless coalition partner options..(save for yellow-jacket..and dunny brush..)..

..sharply into focus..

i still stand by my lab/grn/mp/prog grouping being the next government..prediction..

(english was just on nat-rad..my god..!..he could bore for new zealand..

..that whining drone..of election platitudes..

..said with all the life/vitality/enthusiasm of a dead fish..)

Greenfly, you might want to read the policy before you comment on it. Unfortunately the media are more interested in Labour’s dirty tricks campaign and in Brent Edwards’ case, putting out the fires surrounding Labour’s plummeting poll ratings…

I find it amazing that so many pundits believe the Maori Party will join a coalition with Labour – the party that did the deed that led to the creation of the party, and which they HATE for that one act alone!

I think the Maori Party will stay ferociously independent and argue ‘their peoples’ position on everything.

Speaking of Brent Edwards – isn’t it interesting how you can’t download any of the EPMU journo newsletters edited by Comrade Edwards from the EPMU website anymore? Could it be that there were party political statements in them that might embarrass the political editor of RNZ?

I thought it was interesting that the CB poll only had the Maori Party at 4 seats. I would have thought they would have all maori seats tied up at this stage.

[DPF: CB assume the same seats as last time. At curiablog I go off the latest public polls which have them ahead in six of the seats]

i agree that the maori party may prefer to stay on the cross-benchs..offering confidence and supply to labour..

..what there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell of happening..

..is the maori party propping up a (sole-parent/benificiary-bashing) national government..

..their followers will not all allow that..

..the maori party would be on a hiding to nowhere..

..pushing/proposing that..

..thenthere is the polling..

..the maori party is shown as winning the maori seats..

..but their party vote is down around act-territory..

..now do you really think those voters ticking the maori party candidates..but not the party vote..

..are ticking national..?

..and that there is no way thatnational will hold that rating..

..and the colmar-brunton is always the most negative poll-result for labour..

..all in all..

..the only way is down..

800 people a week are voting with their feet. 450,000 thousand kiwis now living in Oz!
The sad thing is most of them will vote in November and many will vote Labour,as they did when they were living here.

That means that Muldoon was probably right. When they leave here to go there, they increase the average intelligence of both countries.

Seriously, the non resident vote will be critical purely because of it’s size.

Clark is still preferred PM by 30+% of voters? I feel I am missing something here. Why, for Gods sake?

What goes through someones mind when they look at our economic performance, our standard of living , low salaries, high taxes, increased violent crimes etc..just what do these people see?

Are they unable to actually process facts? I would really like to know because I’m staggered by how many really stupid people (IMO) there are in this country who think that dishonesty, lies , corruption & creating government dependance are not only acceptable behaviours but preferred ones!

It is amazing how so many can support the disgusting behaviour of our PM and her closest henchmen just because they happen to represent the Labour party. NEWSFLASH- the PM is a radical socialist and is operating so far from the original values of the Labour party as to be unrecognisable.

I wish these people would grow a brain. seriously.

What are the chances of Sir Roger Douglas winning the new (re)created seat of Hunua? It replaces a strongly National seat of Port Waikato – currently held by Paul Hutchison. I noticed that Rodney recently said they were campaigning on the party vote in Epsom only – which would suggest that they don’t intend to try to get Sir Roger elected in the elctorate.

yes..but we all know the greens will be there..(high o/seas/young-cellphone-voters..as only one of the factors in their favour.._

hooten ‘n harre were just on nat rad..

..and your man hooten did that mmp math for you..

..concluding that key/dunny/yellowjacket/wodger douglas is one bloc..

..lab/grns/mp/prog + (poss peters..preferably not..)

..is the other bloc..

..and that that is the clear choice facing the voters..

..and that just at the moment..

..those blocs are kneck and kneck..

..(and i have to give some ups to hooten..when he was working for key..he was just a spin-merchant..

..now his analysis is less doctrinaire..more reasoned/rational..

Team New Zealand have done what the Billionaires couldn’t do! Got a yacht race in 2009 where THEY are the defenders, and other teams vie for the right to race them for the title and cup! That’s right, the Louis Vuitton race is on, with TNZ as the holders racing against a group of invitees – all of whom have, in the past, raced for the Louis Vuitton championship.

It will be held in Auckland, over three weeks, with three races a day, in January/February 2009, and everyone will race in Team NZ boats.

Good in ’em. Right now, the Louis Vuitton ‘cup’ is New Zealand’s cup, and if it can be a regular feature of the racing circuit, it can probably stay that way for a few decades! Who needs an America’s Cup race of cata-trimarans, when we’re having a real race!!

Cullen proves once again what a prick he is:
National sticking to $50-a-week tax cuts

So does the pre-election fiscal update show “significantly worse” deficits than the $3.5 billion forecast in the Budget or does it show CULLEN’S SIGNIFICANTLY WORST ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT SKILLS.

To paraphrase the article it states “Dip shit Cullen downplayed suggestions events in the US spelled worse news ahead”.

I call BS on that statement. New Zealand is in for a pounding. Labour will not safe the country from the current economic plight because they are part of the problem that put the country into deep recession in the first place.
