I watched that leader of NZ First on tele this morning…. Question: Has he had a stroke? He looked dreadful, his eyes worse than ever and his mouth was strange. The same shit came it of it however.
Or maybe it’s just years of fags and scotch courtesy of us.

Mr Peters said New Zealand First was the voice of the ordinary New Zealander

Another self appointed spokesperson for the “ordinary” amongst us. I thought he used to mainly aim at the “ordinary grey” vote.

But then he disses his demographic? Doesn’t matter, it is hard to seem him breaking free of his political cobwebs.

Maybe he is right Malcolm. We know that the abusing priests were homosexual, but I didn’t realise that those involved in the cover-ups were also homosexual.

The Foreshore ans Seabed is a big drawcard for Winnie and shouldn’t be underestimated.
That Chris Finlayson is offering “private” deals in his office to Iwi who come in for coffee will merely add grist to the mill.
We should let english common law stand as it was before judicial activist Sian Elias changed it and was the reason Helen Clark wrote the foreshore and seabed law to counter her, now our chief Justice!

The University of Otago Student Magazine ‘Critic’ reveals the mindset of student politicians….

Apparently because 600 of 20,000 students are in favour of CSM and made submissions about it (3% of the student body) – the President Harriet has declared that students do care about their Union and therefore membership should remain compulsory!

Great training for future politics… as long as 3% are in favour – the rest either opposed or don’t give a fuck should be compelled to their cause…

Excuse me while I start banging my head against the wall in frustration.

Yeah. Whenever I read about the beleaguered Vatican and I can’t help thinking of the movie ‘Downfall’. In the Fuhrer Bunker, a few days before the fall of Berlin. Plenty of champagne, good grub and debauchery. They still can’t quite understand what they’ve done to deserve this. Hitler’s fantasising about his imaginary reprisal weapons and rearranging his decimated armies on his maps.

Of course I don’t think the RCC is about to collapse. But I am amazed how they have become trapped by their own idea of their moral authority. It doesn’t allow to see or admit fault. And that is often what drags these entities down. A bit of the Hitler – if he could admit his mistake about invading Russia history may have been very different.

The single most annoying thing about Peters is that buried in his alzheimer’s fuelled rants is occasional common sense. I heard Ministry of Pakeha Affairs and thought what the…. when Winston pointed out what a bloody stupid idea it is just the same as having a ministry for any ethnic group.

Paul Henry soiled himself when Peters pointed out that Maori operate in the armed forces very well without any special considerations and Henry asked if this meant that Peters wanted a military dictatorship. Apparently Henry is seeking to replace Oliver Driver as morning extremist left wing dickhead in a pre 8am slot.

Grow up Henry.

How is this possible? real incomes are down in the US? despite the great one being president?

Real personal income for Americans – excluding government payouts such as Social Security – has fallen by 3.2 percent since President Obama took office in January 2009, according to the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis.

For comparison, real personal income during the first 15 months in office for President George W. Bush, who inherited a milder recession from his predecessor, dropped 0.4 percent. Income excluding government payouts increased 12.7 percent during Mr. Bush’s eight years in office.

“This is hardly surprising,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, an economist and former director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. “Under President Obama, only federal spending is going up; jobs, business startups, and incomes are all down. It is proof that the government can’t spend its way to prosperity.”

According to the bureau’s statistics, per capita income dropped during 2009 in 47 states, with only modest gains in the other states, West Virginia, Maine and Maryland. But most of those increases were attributed to rising income from the government, such as Medicare and unemployment benefits.

Southtop – looks like it was in the printed copy only so no link – basically they have cut salaries for state employees by 7% on average, raised taxes, cut other expenses rapidly to balance the books quickly. The article suggests they will leave the company of the other PIGS very soon & be back with a growing economy. Also, the government has taken responsibility for the mess it created with lack of controls around banking, monetary policy etc – quite refreshing really.

Singapore tightens monetary policy
Singapore’s central bank aggressively tightened its monetary policy today by effectively revaluating the Singapore dollar, after the economy grew at a record pace in the first quarter.

The decision came as the economy expanded a bigger-than-expected 32.1 percent from the previous quarter, the highest since records began in 1975.
It said economy has now fully recovered the output lost during the recession, and several industries have already exceeded their pre-crisis peaks.
Singapore’s trade-dependent economy expanded 13.1 percent from a year ago in the first quarter, the strongest growth since 1994 and better than expectations of 11 percent growth,

What have we managed with our National Govt?
