Claims that just returned Aaron Gilmore got pissed and was a dickhead when he was at Hamner Springs for National Party’s mainland region conference.

It may or may not have been much, although a friend offered a written apology for Gilmore’s behaviour.

A lawyer friend of Christchurch-based MP Aaron Gilmore was so embarrassed by the politician’s behaviour after a bottle and a half of wine that he wrote an apology to hotel staff.

Riches last night confirmed he left the note for the waiter, saying he did so because he felt Gilmore had been “a bit rude” and he felt “a bit embarrassed by what happened”.

The Press understands the note apologised on behalf of Gilmore for his “appalling” conduct and congratulated the waiter on his professionalism.

But it sounds like Gilmore is ducking and diving from any responsibility. Not a good look for him or for National.

He needs to step up with a decent apology. So far it seems Aaron Gilmore – dickhead unapologetic

MP GILMORE, the invisible completely unknown Nat among Canterbury Nats who was so committed to Chch he moved to Wellington. Only selected by default – with no other nominees – because all the other worthy, seasoned, hard-won nominees were fighting the Selwyn nomination (round 2). Never even gave a speech, no selection, no contest. A travesty. Quite why the Regional Leadership of National arranged this timing was unknown, but Aaron Gilmore was never “selected” by the party membership in Canterbury.

Given a List place by de fault (twice) and can’t even stump up to the Regional Conf. dinner. List Mps, what a croc.

The Port Hills groper is appearing in court again today. If you haven’t heard of the Port Hills groper it will be because his offending is being seriously played down in the media. He has sexually assaulted fifteen women, yes fifteen women. He has had continued name suppression and continuing bail. He breached his bail conditions yesterday but was granted bail again.When the Press write anything about him , their articles are all about he and his families concerns..I cannot say his victims have received scant mention for they have received no mention at all..CHCH is a great place for outdoor activity..How many of these women are still running and walking on these tracks? When are their rights and the rights of all CHCH women ever going to matter? Any bets on whether this monster will get home detention today?
And why is he getting such favourable treatment in the courts and in the media.?? Because he is muslim , a refugee and probably a Somalian. Where are the one law for all types when you need them??

I am all for victims rights – their concerns must be paramount, but I am getting somewhat suspicious of these historical cases coming to light against so many celebrities.

It will be interesting to see just what evidence is produced after such an lengthy amount of time.

It seems no one is immune at present in the UK. “Ken Barlow” the latest – they’ll have to close Coro Street down before too long.

The media always treat refugees/muslims /minorities with a degree of temerity.

It proves they discriminate.Why? Lots of reasons.Fear of being labelled racist , their promotion of multiculturalism,hatred of the west ……

When you look at what our relatively small numbers of refugees have got up to:

hijacking plane,stabbing in the street,this case……..that’s just what we know,one has to ask who is selecting them and how .
Don’t the citizens and taxpayers of New Zealand deserve better?

In light of the Boston outrage this country needs to reassess where we accept refugees from.

National List MP Aaron Gilmore is this morning apologising to staff and patrons at the Heritage Hotel Hamner Springs following a dinner he atended there on Saturday 27 April.

“As a group of diners our behaviour was at times boisterous and I sincerely apologise for any offence this may have caused any staff and/or patrons”, Mt Gilmore said.

“I intend to convey my apologies on behalf of the group to hotel staff and understand that Members of Parliament should uphold, and be seen to uphold, the highest of standards at all times”.

“On this occasion I believe as a group, our behaviour fell short of this mark, and I should have recognised this at the time”.

“I also plan to pass my apologies on to the Prime Minister for failing to meet the standards I believe National MP’s should uphold.

That still fails to meet the standard expected of a decent and properly sincere apology.

New Zealand officials have released a list of baby names put forward by parents that were rejected because they were too bizarre or offensive, including Lucifer and Mafia No Fear.

The list of 77 names reveals one child was set to be called Anal before the Department of Internal Affairs vetoed the proposal, while another narrowly avoided being dubbed . or full stop.

Other names on the list included 4Real, V8, and Queen Victoria.

In some cases, parents appeared to have lost any inspiration for coming up with a moniker for their offspring, wanting to call the latest addition to the family simply 2nd, 3rd or 5th.

The department’s rules forbid any name that might imply a child holds an official title or rank, so King, Duke and Princess were among those that had been turned down most since 2001.

Justice was the most popular, having been rejected 62 times, although Justus and Juztice also failed to gain official approval.

In 2008, New Zealand’s family court ordered that a nine-year-old girl whose parents had called her Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii should have her name changed because it was embarrassing and “makes a fool of the child”.

At the time, judge Rob Murfitt criticised parents who gave their children bizarre names, citing examples such as Number 16 Bus Shelter, Midnight Chardonnay and twins called Benson and Hedges.

Because electric cars are a waste of space.
You have to power them with electricity you would have to generate massive amounts to transfer any significant amount of private transport to plug in. This capacity would be built in coal stations because they are cheap Hence more co2.

And because I have a fetish for 2.5 l engines four strokev6 quadcam, two stroke petrol v6 efi and 353 two stroke diesel

Griff – Constitutional review panel

The total ignore with which this is treated lies that in, apart from the bias of the panel, nothing has emerged yet that anyone can commend or attack. It is as nebulous as the topics it supposedly addresses.
The ad campaign is equally vague, fronted by a supposed Maori comic speaking pidgin English and yet another sports personality.
It exists only as a result of National pandering to a Maori Party coalition $4 million demand and aims to fix something not necessarily broken.

More note may be taken when a cooked-up finding urges enshrining the Treaty of Waitangi – a fucking badly-written 173 year-old real estate agreement – as the foundation of a ‘new’s New Zealand Constitution.

A Massey University lecturer says it is important that young Maori are involved in the review of New Zealand’s constitution.

A government-appointed advisory panel is reviewing it.

Veronica Tawhai, who specialises in Maori Development, was part of a forum about the review broadcast by Radio New Zealand on Sunday.

Ms Tawhai says Maori youth will get involved with the consultation process if they can discuss the efforts of their ancestors to contribute to the constitution.

She says her research shows rangitahi are not interested in factors such as how often they are able to vote.

However, Ms Tawhai says they are inspired by a wider, more indepth discussion about the history of the country.

I think it’s a good thing that John Minto is standing as an Auckland Mayoral candidate – he will be able to promote Mana policies which will help focus on the most vulnerable of the 99%.

That will also help to raise the profile of Mana, and their policies before the 2014 General Election.

Griff you left out Debra Coddington married to treaty lawyer Colin Corruthers. I heard her on Radio Live with willie Jackson a while back and it was obvious that she wasn’t really interested in any views that may be different from her own.

The whole process is flawed as you rightly point out it really is time that people woke up.

Three-strikes warning a first for Bay of Plenty

Anthony Jay Tukaki, 38, was given the warning in Tauranga District Court.

A Waihi man who molested a teenage girl has been given his final “three-strikes” warning – the first offender living in the Bay to receive one.

Driver Anthony Jay Tukaki, 38, was given the warning in Tauranga District Court after he admitted one charge of burglary and two charges of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection with a female aged between 12-16.

The offences occurred in February after Tukaki entered the 13-year-old’s bedroom during a visit to the property – he was not known to his victim.

Judge Peter Rollo remanded Tukaki in custody for sentencing on June 17 after giving him the final warning, required because he received his first warning in 2011 for an indecent assault committed in June 2010.

The final three-strikes warning means he becomes the 18th person in the country who will have to serve his inevitable prison sentence without parole.

Which is why the 3 Strike law will only work to a small degree in that it removes those offenders from the community for a longer period of time.

It will never serve as a deterrent because by time most of these offenders get to committing serious offences that warrant the 3 strikes warning, they are already habitual criminals and past taking such warnings in a rational manner.

I believe the attention should be targeted at their first offences, to prevent anymore and stop the habit forming. But most seem to prefer to wait for at least two more innocent victims before doing that.

I also strongly disagree with keeping an offender in prison for an extended period of time, and then releasing them at the end of the sentence without any supervision in the community. When they were released on parole there were several things that can be done to ensure they watched and supervised and if need be recalled to prison (like we saw recently with ‘the beast’).

If we imprison someone for 14 years, and then just open the doors and release them into the community and not be able to supervise them by law, we are just asking for trouble.
