Wife has meltdown and it is KiwiRails fault!

The perpetually outraged have a new standard. ‘My wife screamed . . . . . the lights came on when we were over the crossing . . . . . . the train was only 20m away . . . ‘ rah-de-rah bullshit bullshit bullshit.

Do these f’tards think that they are the only believable people on the planet and anything they say is just sooooooooo believable, right up there with goofy telling me that the rates increases will be limited to 2.5% as it was so believable when his tossing predecessor said the same thing?

For the $27,000,000.00 of my taxpayer dime pumped into KiwiRail per annum, I believe that they have got the safety around the crossings pretty well sorted, I mean, no-one wants to fall foul of the OSH Nazis do they.

  The issue here is whether the lights and barriers operated in accordance with design specifications. If track maintenance caused them to operate later than intended then I think the driver and passenger are quite entitled to be concerned. The maintenance gang should have ‘bagged’ the lights and provided temporary signs. The system is designed to be as failsafe as possible – the lights and barriers are far more likely to operate in the absence of a train than the other way round. Half barriers are used so that there is no chance of a vehicle being caught between the barriers.

    Is it not the law that you need to slow and check before crossing? A train 30m away is certainly able to be seen from that distance.
    
    I would have thought this was even more imperative if you have open containers in your van that slows your crossing significantly.

      It is not law, but it is road code (ie. good advice for people who want to transfer their genes to the next generation) just as it is also good advice to always slow down and be careful around intersections (even with traffic lights).
      
      Buses etc are required to stop at level crossings whether or not the lights are going.

I think Trump should give a full apology at the town hall debate today which will be watched by millions of people and so he can reach them unedited and unfiltered by the mainstream media. Then if it’s bought up again which it will be he should continue to apologise quickly and then move on and pivot to the issues he wants to talk about.

He has a good message about enforcing the immigration laws, lower taxes, cutting back regulation, allowing the US economy to grow and making America great again. So he needs to apologise whenever this is bought up and pivot back to those issues.

It’s interesting to watch the left-wing continue to attack him. People say that Trump is vulgar but they are the vulgar attack dogs. Clinton does it herself, she thinks Trump supporters are irredeemable deplorables who are sexist and racist et cetera et cetera. Her surrogates attack Trump relentlessly, using the father of a fallen soldier to attack him, unearthing remarks made 20 years ago to a woman in a beauty pageant and now finding taped remarks made 10 years ago. Basically the left attack a person relentlessly using the Saul Alinsky model of rules for radicals. So it is not Trump that is vulgar, it is the left who did it to McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012. The left seek power at any cost and they don’t care who they hurt in getting it.

However if Trump can find it within himself to humbly apologise and pivot back to the issues and not allow Hillary to drag him back down into the mud, he still has a good chance.

    Someone’s building houses on a production line in the old GM plant in Upper Hutt.
    
    It seems like a good set-up… all the sub-trades know where to go, they can park on a sealed carpark right outside the door from where they’re working, or they can drive straight into the building and unload timber, tin, gib, carpet under cover out of the wind and rain. There is a massive gantry crane overhead to assist with that.
    There are no days lost to wet weather, windy weather, and nobody’s got muddy boots. The houses are built on top of little wheeled buggies and it looks like the easiest thing in the world to go underneath to run plumbing or cable.
    
    Every time a finished house goes out the front door, all of the other houses on the production line get wheeled forward one space.
    
    I think it’s a great idea! Almost everyone drives a Holden Commodore or a Toyota Corolla that was made in a factory and is exactly the same as someone else’s one. But if it’s the right car for you then you don’t care about that. Houses should be the same.

        Late 2008 Auckland housing was 6.4 times annual household incomes; when Nick Smith was appointed Housing Minister early 2013 6.7 times; now a stratospheric 10.4 times.

        If it hits 12 times come the next General Election … like Napoleon Bonaparte 200 years ago being sent to exile to St Helena’s, I expect Mr Key to be sent in to exile in Maui, Hawaii ‘for the rest of his natural life’.

  There are thousands of houses being built in and around Tauranga.
  The Council are working overtime to process building applications – builders are flat out – often all weekends too. Large sections of land – thousands of hectares are being opened up weekly.
  Around Tauranga there are many thousands of hectares suitable for house construction.
  Commercial new developments are going up as fast as builders can do them. Companies are attracted to the climate and lifestyle with pages of employment applications – skilled of course – not like some of the local riff raff who are incapable of turning up for a few days at a time unstoned.

4. Have you got yourself on a tenants’ ‘black list’.
Next question:
Do you expect the Government or anyone else to provide houses for people who have been guilty of any of the above, and if so, under what conditions?

Since he took over as the main afternoon host on RNZ National, I (and no doubt many other radio listeners) have generally regarded Jesse Mulligan as adequate: competent enough, personable, often delightfully quick with a pun. Probably the worst anyone would have said about him was that he was a pleasant but vacuous comedian and an earnest if not pretentious gourmand.

Last week, however, Jesse Mulligan filled in for Jim Mora, as he occasionally has done in the past. Sadly for him, and even more sadly for listeners, he found himself having to talk to people about matters of grave consequence—the Syrian insurrection and the Israeli raid on a peace protest ship in international waters. He was simply not up to the job. My take on Mulligan then was simply that he was indolent, therefore poorly prepared, therefore unable to intelligently interview even a mediocre academic like Paul Sinclair, [1] leave alone an ideologically driven liar like Dr David Cumin. [2]

It’s getting harder and harder to take such a benign view of Mulligan, however. Today, his intellectual laziness segued with disturbing smoothness into a nasty little attack against one of the West’s leading dissident journalists. That he did this in tandem with the sneering long-time Mora producer and dutiful chortler Julie Moffett makes it almost inevitable that he will be compared to the sneering, scoffing Jim Mora, and even to such insalubrious characters as Mike “Contra” Hosking, or Larry “Lackwit” Williams…..

JULIE MOFFETT: Another WikiLeaks LEAK reveals that Hillary Clinton apparently suggested that Wall Street INSIDERS were best qualified to regulate the banking industry, and also included her APPARENT admission of the need for money from banking executives for political fundraising. [mocking singsong tone] Hmmmm. This comes from thousands of emails HACKED from Clinton’s campaign chair John Poseda’s [sic] email account, and appear to include the excerpts from Mrs Clinton’s paid closed-door speeches to Wall Street executives after leaving her position as Secretary of STATE. [3]

JIM MORA: This is not the smoking GUN, really, IS it? There have been so many revelations, allegations, opinions about Hillary and her connections with Wall Stre–, I mean, either Julian Assange has got something saved UP for just before the election but, I mean, tha–, this has been SEIZED ON, it’s considered—

JIM MORA: —ahhh, interesting MATERIAL by her OPPONENT.

JULIE MOFFETT: But they go around lobbying EVERYONE for money, don’t they?

Insiders word; when asked, John Key would express his neutrality towards the voters’ nomination for the 44th President of the United States of America.

In private he abhors the prospect of any Trump regime but would work to mitigate any consequential economic instability and/or any social unrest with any means necessary.

I just made that up but sound kinda plausible imo.
