So the UK will have their first Conservative government in decades. For those that don’t know what the DUP are about expect plenty of Autistic screeching from the left once reality dawns on them.

The two parties [Labour and DUP] have worked well together for two years. There’s no reason to suppose they won’t continue to do so in future. But the point made time after time to Labour MPs remains: for as long as you allow yourselves to be led by an IRA cheerleader, you exclude yourselves from entering No 10,

    Actually yes – the “perception” in the media is that National are tired and uninterested, as they are ahead in the polls.
    This perception is growing by daily continuous bombardment by the so called media.
    People do not really care that the economy is doing better than ever – how does that affect the money in their pockets. The so called Middle Class have never had it so good if they seriously reflect
    We are made to feel guilty over a few things – the Maori rights, and the poor in State houses who believe they have the right over our property.
    The few sleeping in the streets – the beggars (same people).
    Injustice in any and every thing – its John Key’s fault remember.
    I want more money as I am owed.
    This is the new perception, and I could go on portrayed by the so called media.
    All Angry has to do is shut up until the election and we may well see Union Labour’s percentage of the vote increase.
    Cannot see despite the young dolly bird appeal that Greenpeace will get much if any more than now. Foolish idealists – life is different.
    This of course will bring Winston to the forefront as kingmaker.
    UK Labour did better than dreamed, despite voting irregularities, with the young mobiles.
    Some 600,000 people signed up within 48 hours of the election although quite a number were declined at the booths, as they had not been advised and therefore despite written confirmation were excluded – North East.

      As we are all aware the MSM regularly features homeless, living in cars or grim boardinghouses, evicted by greedy landlords, food banks, no money for raincoats or breakfast.
      
      I would not assume from those articles that there is widespread horror of the mean current government. More likely that the hardworking New Zealanders so beloved of some political parties are fed up with their tax dollars going to some – and only some – who do not take personal responsibility.
      
      And although only some fall into that category, who would know that from the relentless media articles.

        National are doing well but they have got to ginger the public up. That includes showing how unfit to govern the opposition really are. Labour are incompetent, the Greens irrational, Winston First impossible and Act only hopeful. The responsive campaign should have been underway months ago.
        
        With a global financial upheaval likely we cannot risk the present opposition as a future government.

  The actuality is that the Conservatives generally, and May particularly, are now in a very weak position to govern, especially when it comes to negotiating Brexit and passing the necessary legislation for that.
  What makes it even more ludicrous was May’s insistence that she needed a strengthened mandate to provide her version of ‘strong and stable government’.

    May really dropped the ball i don’t know how she is still prime minister. The Socialists under Corbyn did really well to pull in the youth and get them to vote, the Right needs to pay attention to this, they have to provide opportunity for the young. Property ownership and jobs are needed or the Tories are going to lose a whole generation of voters.

  Yes the UK is finally going to get some godly government. The DUP is the only party that staunchly backs Creationism over the cult of evolution.         Incidentally, as someone who is an occasional poster here on KB, I am curious about how come you manage to spend such an inordinate amount of time throughout the day posting here? Is your life that empty? Is it due to a lack of love interest in your life?

  One of my heroes and I guess a hero of many of the white patriots at this site is Enoch Powell. After Powell was hounded out of the UK parliament because of his determination that Britain should stay with and not be mongrelised he went to Northern Ireland to live and worked with Ian Paisley. Predictably the Corbynite MSM is now getting hysterical about the link between Enoch and the DUP. But for white nationalists Enoch’s role in creating the DUP shows that there is a direct link between one of the great figures of the white civil rights movement and the present. The DUP is a proudly white nationalist and anti-Papist voice inside the UK’s new government.

    If that is correct, then anti-Sharia protests are just pro-moderate-Muslim protests.
    
    It looks like you’re trying to play this both ways ie.:
    * Most Muslims are moderate and don’t subscribe to Sharia and are thus harmonious with the West.
    * An anti-Sharia stance is an attack on Muslims.
    
    As a practitioner of logic, it would seem to me that these stances are mutually exclusive.

        In the Islamic conception there is no such thing as practicing or non-practicing. Instead, they would be considered “unfaithful” on that matter. Best to apply the same understanding as well to the other Abrahamic religions that have similar “points of entry”, Christianity (baptism, and/or confirmation) and Judaism (a Jewish mother, male circumcision and bar and bath mitzvah).

      There is no actual risk of Sharia superseding actual law in these places, and more than the Torah would replace our statute book.

        Yep. Overlooks that there are Ecclesiastical courts – for example, whenever the local Presbyterian church’s eldership (session or consistory) meets, they make decisions that work in with secular law. For example, given their interpretation of the New Testament, they may refuse to allow a once-divorced person to marry in their church building with the service led by their minister. Or, in some cases they may exercise excommunication for grievous and unrepentant sin such as adultery.
        
        However, in those two examples, the person can still get married, or find another church.

        Also, I think in the case of divorce, Islam requires the man to pay for the upkeep of his former wife and also any children. So irrespective of what the state may compel, he is subject to the judgement of the mosque. They cannot compel him, but nonetheless they are entitled to rule and instruct and maybe even verify that he has met his religious obligations.
        
        Also, while divorce is administered by the state, nonetheless Islamic sharia also requires that a man must stand in front of his wife and witnessess and pronounce “I divorce you” three times. Again, the local sharia court may be called upon to confirm if that criterion has been met. Doesn’t mean that they aren’t divorced according to the paperwork that the state provides, but divorced in the eyes of the Muslim community is another matter…
        
        And that is how sharia works in a secular Western nation, just as Christians administer their own church communities and the distinct requirements of their faith.

    I am not anti-muslim, althought at times some of them make it very hard for me, but the sharia disgusts me and I will resist it totally where I see it being suggested that any scrap of it, however small, introduced in to NZ.

        Except they don’t because many of those they pronounce against are non-English illiterate young girls who still think they are living in an Islamic country after they have been brought over to marry a cousin. They are rarely, if at all let out and then only into the immediate neighbourhood which is pure muslim. They are only allowed to watch muslim TV (in their own language) beamed in from SKY.
        
        Their postal votes are filled in by the husband (if literate) or local imam.

The last result from the UK election is in: Labour win Kensington, by 16, 333 votes to 16, 313 – a twenty vote majority.

This must be one of the smallest winning margins in electoral history!
Quite apart from Labour winning the richest constituency in the country.

  Years of grooming of the young saplings by the UK education system almost worked. Getting them out to vote for Corbyn was well planned, helped of course by the usual socialist lolly scramble. Having been feather bedded by the welfare system and never known real hardship or war, these tech ready and sensitive voters were right for the picking.   The next generation haven’t ever experienced the hard left is power, so have no idea how truly awful it is. Those I’ve spoken with seem to think they’ll have all the material comforts and liberty they have today, just with cheaper housing and more handouts.
  
  They are, without exception, clueless about Venezuela and can’t identify it on a map, let alone articulate the political system that has caused its problems.
  
  In some ways it might be beneficial if New Zealand gets a pure shot at socialism i.e. Greens calling the shots. Three years of galloping mentalism and the inevitable economic destruction that follows and that’s the last we’ll hear of leftism for another generation.

DUP’s firm stand on the darwin cult and fossil fraud.

A SENIOR DUP Assemblyman has pressed for creationism to be taught alongside evolution in classrooms across the North.
Mervyn Storey, who chairs the Stormont education committee, said his “ideal” would be the removal of evolutionary teaching from the curriculum altogether.
“This is not about removing anything from the classroom, although that would probably be the ideal for me, but this is about us having equality of access to other views as to how the world came into existence and that I think is a very, very important issue for many parents in Northern Ireland.”
Mr Storey has also challenged education minister Caitríona Ruane to apply her principles of “equality” to the issue.
“She tells us she’s all for equality; surely if that is the case, you can’t have one set of interpretations being taught at the expense of others,” he told the Belfast News Letter.
Sinn Féin dismissed the comments as “a distraction from the real issues at hand” and declined to comment further.
This is the latest in a number of interventions by Mr Storey on the issue. In June last year, the North Antrim Assembly man made a similar call during a sitting of the Assembly Education Committee, when he pressed Ms Ruane to “ensure that scientific explanations, other than Darwinian evolution, are taught in schools as scientific explanations”. Despite numerous requests, the DUP has declined to comment on the matter.
A statement from the Department of Education said that its policy is based on recommendations made by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) and that there must be a distinction made between “the evidence based approach to scientific theories and knowledge in science lessons, and exploring other beliefs about how the world came into existence”. Mr Storey has also weighed in to the ongoing dispute regarding the age of the Giant’s Causeway, Co Antrim.

Mr Storey, among others, has called for the proposed visitors’ centre to display not just accepted geological data, but also the creationist argument that the distinctive rock formation is only 6,000 years old. “The problem to date has been that we only have a narrow interpretation from an evolutionary point of view as to how these particular stones were formed,” he said last year.
His comments follow other controversies involving senior DUP figures and “faith issues” in Northern politics. Last month, Strangford MP Iris Robinson faced widespread criticism for her description of homosexuality as an “abomination”. She further asserted that “it is the duty of government to uphold God’s law”.

Predictably the MSM which helped gift Corbyn 41% with its biased coverage is now saying that the Tories are hypocrites because they called Corbyn out on his links to Sinn Fein but are now working with the DUP which supposedly has ties to ‘terrorism’.

But there is a huge difference between the disciplined armed self-defence of the Ulster Defence Association, the armed wing of the DUP, and the anarchism and nihilism of the Muslim-affiliated IRA. The UDA members were patriots who fought for God’s law against Papists and secular humanist betrayers of the West. Rachel MacGregor lodged a claim with Human Rights accusing Colin Graig of sexually harassing her, and also covering a salary matter.
There was a confidential hearing and it is later revealed the harassment claim was withdrawn, not because it was untrue, according to MacGregor, but because she just didn’t want to deal any further with Craig.
At that point, being able to say the matter is settled, but nothing more, Colin was home and hosed.

But then Craig sued Jordon Williams for defamation as Williams had repeated the accusation of harassment and made other comments.
Craig lost the case.

Am I right in assuming then that, having been found to have not defamed Craig, what Williams claimed is true, and by implication it means the Court found Craig had in fact sexually harassed Ms MacGregor?
– That the outcome of Craig suing Williams, provided proof of Ms MacGregor’s claim, even although she officially withdrew it?

Note: Since Colin Craig may perhaps be trigger happy, I am asking if the above is correct, not saying it is.

NZ will do very nicely with an FTA with UK and also with EU.
Then to get Modi to ink an FTA and NZ will be in the box seat.

Forget the US for an FTA would be a low level with too many carve outs to be any good for us.

Some interesting thoughts on the “shocking” result from the UK general election from Deutsche’s Jim Reid this morning:

Whatever the overall results of this election some of the stats about potential age demographics of the voters is very interesting. Sky did a poll on election day and found amongst 18-34 year olds Labour were on 63% and Conservatives 27%. With 35-54 year olds both were on 43% and over 55 year olds Labour on 23% and Conservatives on 59%. Labour made a huge push for the young who don’t normally vote in high numbers and the Conservative Party actually proposed policies that worked against their natural older vote perhaps thinking their early lead in the polls gave them an opportunity to try to balance the books more.

So were the young more motivated than normal and were the elderly less motivated? … read more via hyperlink above …

    A couple on $100k a year should be able to buy a house in the range of $250 – $300k with a sensible mortgage load about the $250k .
    
    Housing at about 3.0 times incomes and mortgage loads at a sensible 2.5 times
    
    Why pay $600k ( 6 multiple … or an extra $300k) in Christchurch or a million bucks (10 multiple or an extra $700k) in Auckland … with grossly excessive mortgages of course ?
    
    Seems they are getting a gutsful of being taken to the cleaners …

      The centre-right ignore this at their peril. There is no reason why NZ can’t have ample, affordable housing as we are not short of land. We are 1% urbanised.
      
      Environmental town planning and anti-road building greens cause it by creating artificial scarcity. The LEFT have caused it, yet they blame it on the right.
      
      The right should stick to their guns and expand development in order to capture this vote. Redefine the argument to favour road building and land development, not intensification.

      I agree Hugh though my family home mortgage was less than 25% of my income at the time because of the sweat equity my wife and I put into the project though a nest egg of $2000 gave us the start to buy an old shop and build in the back garden while living with our baby son in the shop.
      Selling one’s soul to a bank for thirty years is foolish following what your peers do and we got our A’s into G and enjoyed a much higher standard of living subsequently …. though for starters we had very little. Small fridge, 16″ TV which I had brought to the marraige from living in a caravan for a couple of years in a motorcamp. My first step to ‘home ownership’.
      But with all the mollycoddling imposed on people I doubt if that would be possible today.

        One curious coda to the RMA debate that concluded last week was that the Opposition parties plus ACT and United Future all voted again during the third reading debate for amendments that would have abolished Rural Urban Growth Boundaries and allowed the financing of infrastructure bonds paid for with targeted rates.
        
        The amendments were defeated by National and the Maori Party.
        
        The irony of a Government that has railed against restrictions on land development by councils voting against removing those restrictions should be noted. And also that the proposal for infrastructure bonds was backed by the right-leaning New Zealand Initiative and voted for by the Greens and Labour. Strange times indeed.

Don’t know why people talk about “shock loss” because the days are long since past where Bangladesh can be taken for granted. Has taken a while for them to become competitive, but they are now at that stage Sri Lanka were in the early 1990s just before their break through at the 1996 World Cup – tough at home/on the sub-Continent, and able to win on occasions abroad.

I was listening to a podcast this morning from the UK. It featured that spoiled brat Owen Jones. On that podcast Jones was bemoaning The Tories for doing a deal with the DUP because of their views. Jones went further and accused the DUP of being misogynists, anti LBGT and anti abortion.

Of course the very fact that Jones is a staunch defender of Islam and that religions well known hatred of LBGT, abortion and females did not seem to matter. Of all the things I hate the hard left for it is their naked hypocrisy that tops the list.

Hmm. Not sure that is a wise thing, nor even Constitutional given the separation of powers. Or at the very least it could set a precedent that could weaken the office of the POTUS. For example, Richard Nixon’s attitude in Watergate was (rightly) that the case had to be made against him by the legislative branch (through the Ervin Committee and later the House Committee that voted for impeachment), or the courts.

However, while the SCOTUS ruled (perhaps wrongly) that what turned out to be the “smoking gun” tape could not be withheld under Presidential executive privilege…the Chief Executive responding to an invitation to give testimony concerning his executive decisions is a whole different kettle of fish. Where do you draw the line, and say that an investigator has no right to expect an answer to question x, y or z, as they may include matters that affect national security.

Whether you are for or agin Trump, or, like me amused/bemused by the spectacle surrounding him he last two years, there is no doubt that the objectionable habit of “criminalising policy” that was a part of Watergate is now in full force. A POTUS being willing to respond to a subpeona or Congressional invitation is a severe loss of power. Did Trump know this when he answered the question?

    Forget about the fact he’s a self-made billionaire, just look what he did to get elected. He not only triumphed over the political opposition, he also triumphed over an unprecedented lockstep in unison media campaign against him the strength of which we’ve never seen before, plus he triumphed over the myriad forces in his own party trying to prevent him from success, even after he’d won the nomination. All of this from a man who’d never even stood in a local let alone a national election. How could a dummy such as the MSM portrays him possibly achieve even a fraction of that?

  On another subject I would like to hear your view I have been lucky in my earlier year to have been to a lot of Rugby Test Matches all over the country through my job at no cost. So a couple of days Go I happened to be going through some of my memorabilia and have come across a Stand TIcket The Rose Stand that i gave to my father inlaw to attend the 1981 Otago v Springbox Game as I was going with the sponsors. The point is that to attend any Lions midweek or Saturday Superteam game it costs $169.00 for a Stand ticket and I do realise that 1981 today’s game is a lot of years ago but a Springbox Province game had also not been Seen for a lot of years 1964 I think, any how that game at Carisbook Game the cost of the stand ticket was $7.00 so the cost today for a young adult to go and watch his super team compete us quite expensive.

      Rugby is also thuggish. I retired from it at age 7 on the playing field at Johnsonville School and haven’t looked back. None of my children have succumbed either although one took to soccer, a much more civilised sport, for a while.
      
      The nearest I ever got to it after my retirement from it was to sell tour match souvenirs.

    Yep. I paid $77 to see the Blues vs Lions game on Wednesday night. Stayed dry, and had a good panorama view, but lots of dickheads getting up and down, spoiling the view. FFS, you flew half way round the world, paid lots of money for a ticket, will you kindly sit down and watch the rugby and/or get your over-priced snacks and drinks at half time!
    
    Other than splashing out for pool games at RWC2011, and despite knowing some of the current All Blacks and/or their parents and families through my club, I don’t usually go to big games due to the cost, inconvenience (although I’m close to the Western train line) and “rugby fatigue” factor, and limit myself to club rugby.
    
    But as my mum got pregnant with me in the course of touring around the country watching the 1966 Lions (not to one of the players I hasten to add! 😉 ), the first big rugby tour I was aware of as a kid was the 1977 Lions (the Sid Going, Grant Batty, Ian Kirkpatrick and Lawrie Knight tries, especially, as well as Andy Irvine, the “Flying Scotsman”), and I had seen a young Grant Fox drop a last minute goal to see Auckland beat the 1983 Lions (John Kirwan’s first big game, too, having been plucked out of the Marist Under 21s)
    
    …I figured I should maintain continuity. But not going to the test matches.
    
    A consequence of professionalism. It cost the likes Chris Laidlaw and Earle Kirton to play for Otago against the 1965 Springboks, just as it did for the likes of Dean Kenny and Wayne Graham in 1981. Or David Latta when they won that Springbok head in 1994! Did I mention Otago’s magnificent record against the Lions, too? Beat ’em in 1950, 1959, 1966, and 1993.
    
    The NZRU is looking to milk the Lions supporters of as many of their GBP as possible. And they seem to do a good job of paying the likes of Richie McCaw, Daniel Carter and now Beauden Barrett enough to stay in NZ, that is the price to pay…rather than losing them all to the UK, or, if rugby had not gone professional to rugby league.
