Having a good laugh at the other thread on Labour’s beastly attacks on John Key (Sir).

My god they still don’t get it do they. Still attacking the most popular Prime Minister of at least a generation.

Then again, National don’t get it either do they. Why is Labour even polling as well as they are, considering how shit they are?

The Nats continue to give vast amounts of oxygen to these enemies via TVNZ, a well-known left wing salon, and sometime Labour Party HQ (Shane Taurima), RNZ – they’ve even given them a pay rise!

Not to mention other arts such as Film Commission which gives life to anti National stalwarts such as Taika Waititi, and many NGOs who will take with one hand and campaign against the administration with the other.

Not to mention the Maoris who will take whatever they can cajole out of the taxpayer then complain it isn’t enough.

It was interesting to follow a discussion between David Garrett & Wayne Mapp on yesterday’s thread on yet another mass slaughter in the West by Islamists.

Garrett’s view could be summed up as we must do everything within our powers to put an end to this growing nightmare including closing down Mosques (similar to many Islamic countries ban on churches) whereas Mapps view was that we couldn’t because it is against Acts “philosophy” and would be “nuts”.

The debate can best be summed up with Enoch Powell’s eternal quote:

“The supreme function of statesmanship is to provide against preventable evils. In seeking to do so, it encounters obstacles which are deeply rooted in human nature.”

It was why in WWII civilians of German, Austrian, Italian and Japanese descent were rounded up and sent to interment camps in various Allied countries. It was a measure taken in full knowledge that most of these people posed no threat and was taken because the risks were deemed to be to high.

A lot has changed in the last 78 years.

Dogma drummed in through years of relentless propoaganda now holds a sizeable part of the community (so called “Liberals”) in thrall against all their natural instincts whereby now even naming the source of the threat will provoke anger and denial that the entire happy clappy multiculti edifice they’ve created is falling down.

I wonder whether so called “Right wing” MPs like Mapp deep down believe what they say above or is it because would they rather keep their heads down and not rock the boat less they get a public hounding and destroyed ala Enoch Powell was.

To the proponents of the status quo and those that say we should do nothing I’d like to ask one question – Do you seriously think that the outcome of decades of large scale immigration from high birth rate Islamic countries will end in a different situation to that of the bloody and pitiless civil wars of Lebanon and Yugoslavia? Even if you don’t think it will, is this “diversity” experiment and the so called “benefits” really worth taking such a risk for?

I’ll finish with a quote from Slobodan Milosevic from his war crimes trial:

    David Garrett’s call for the banning of all mosques and Koranic literature would only mean something if the state and police were given powers to enforce it. Cops need not only to lock the doors of official mosques but to surveil Muslims to prevent mosques opening inside private homes and disguised locations. And imams who go underground would have to be weeded out by cops with special powers. The Koran would soon be printed unofficially, so cops have to have the powers to intercept underground copies and destroy secret printing presses. Quite a lot of lessons can be learned from the struggle against Papist totalitarianism in the Elizabethan era, when Papist propaganda agents, eg priests, tried to operate underground and hold secret services.

      You can’t ban literature and thought, but you can prevent whats happening in europe shifting to New Zealand – and its quite simply locking the gates to new zealand from muslims, and not give any permanent residence to muslims already in NZ. We owe nothing to people outside our shores and we certainly cannot afford to have large communities of them form here. Where islam grows, horrible religious inspired atrocities follow.

  I respect Mapp for coming on here on occasion and engaging in debate on occasion even he toes the party line.
  
  Too often Politicians talk at us or answer patsy questions which in the big scheme of things don’t matter.
  
  Full kudos for Garrett for coming on here. I suspect that if were a sitting MP, the MSM would take his quotes and tell the public he is a “purveyor of hate” or other such nonsense despite his views chiming with 90% of this blog and probably 70% of the general public such is the state of discourse in this country.

Join my amusement this moening re Ngapuhi Treaty Settlement.
It is reported that Bill English reiterated to the two warring factions that the Government will only deal with single appointed representative.
Arbitration has taken place a great cost with no avail.
So what do we hear it is English’s fault that the two parties being on the “cusp” of a settlement have been derailed by English’s comments.
What a load of media led balls.
Sonny Tau had them to rights – get him back but no – he is a convicted criminal under laws promulgated to stop amongst other things Maori taking and being convicted for hiding catches of Native Pigeons.

After Mr Trump as a presidential candidate announced his plan, Mr Khan told the BBC he hoped he would “lose badly”, adding that he was a “buffoon”.

He also called Mr Trump’s views on Islam “ignorant”, leading the New York billionaire to challenge him to an IQ test.”

It is clear that Trump quoted Khan out of context in criticising the London Mayor’s comments following the London terrorist attack. But the President’s comment has a slightly different complexion when we learn that Khan had labelled Trump a ‘buffoon’ during the Presidential election campaign.

The amendments were defeated by National and the Maori Party.

The irony of a Government that has railed against restrictions on land development by councils voting against removing those restrictions should be noted. And also that the proposal for infrastructure bonds was backed by the right-leaning New Zealand Initiative and voted for by the Greens and Labour. Strange times indeed.

Unbelievable. One of the London terrorists actually appeared in a TV documentary last year called (wait for it..) The Jihadis Next Door. Police were also warned about the man but chose to ignore it.

The attacker, whom police have requested not be named apart from his nickname ‘Abz’, appeared to pray to an Isis flag in a London park in Channel 4’s 2016 programme The Jihadis Next Door – a documentary about the behaviour and motivations of British extremists.

Ken Chigbo, who lived in the same block of flats as the attacker, told The Mirror the suspect was “really sociable” and would “preach to young Muslims at the flat, sometimes up to six people quite regularly”.

A former friend of one of the attackers told the BBC’s Asian Network he had contacted the authorities after he became concerned about his friend’s extremist views.

The terrorist had been radicalised watching extremist videos online, he said, adding: “We spoke about a particular attack that happened and like most radicals he had a justification for anything and everything and that day I realised I needed to contact the authorities.”

However, the attacker was not arrested and no further action taken, he says. “I did my bit, I know a lot of other people did their bit, but the authorities did not do their bit,” he said.

A scene in The Jihadis Next Door shows a group of extremists, one of whom is believed to be ‘Abz’, appearing to pray to an Isis flag in a London park.

The irony to Trump withdrawing from the Paris agreement is that the US of A is reducing emissions faster than just about any other nation – in effect they are just not funding renewable tech for developing nations.

The consequence will be that developing nations will be buying Chinese made solar tech rather than American – which will aid them in dominating the global market (increase the relative cost of American tech on the commercial market.

Arab Gulf countries cut diplomatic ties with Qatar and suspended Doha-bound flights.

There’s a bit of interesting history here. Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi had a historical border dispute over some land that directly connected Qatar and Abu Dhabi, and cut Saudi Araba’s Persian Gulf access south east of Qatar.

When Qatar refused to join the UAE on it’s formation in 1971, the then Emir of Abu Dhabi was apparently so furious with his Qatari neighbour (a cousin?) that he relinquished the disputed Gulf access land ostensibly to resolve the dispute, but privately because he no longer wanted to share a border with his relative.

Quite the tantrum 🙂

  If it was her first period then the little 10 year old probably needed to go home. It would be quite a traumatic/scary event for her the first time. If she is used to having her period then shame on her mother for not equipping her with the required pads. Schools shouldn’t be expected to provide for periods unless she is caught short for some reason outside her control.

My word, Donald Trump is one smart cookie. His recent tweets include the following;
1) Describing the Courts as political and slow
2) Inviting the Supreme Court to impose a harsher travel ban than the one under appeal (ie to legislate; the province of the Legislature)
3) Criticising the Justice Dept. for appealing a watered-down “politically correct” version of the travel ban (albeit one he had signed off himself)
4) Insisting that the travel ban is just that, despite JD lawyers insisting on appeal that it was not.

He has almost guaranteed an adverse Supreme Court decision as the conservative bench there will not like being told what to do one bit, by someone who clearly has contempt for the judicial process and who has confirmed the intent of the travel ban.

He has thus cleverly engineered a constitutional showdown which could further cement his power and enable him to push through the legislative and societal changes he was elected to fulfil.

The naysayers will say this is just another example of the pig-headed and ignorant approach to governing that has characterised the Trump administration.
We shall see

  Btw, all he is doing is excercising powers he already has, powers which Obama used during his term.
  Not sure why you think he needs to ‘goad’ the Court given he must be fully aware Conservatives now have a majority and must be confident they will assert he has the power to do what he wants to do.
  Frankly, the basis of the injunction is completely political.

        Sure. The President has the power to make regulations such as the travel ban, or the requirement to use only US steel in pipelines, etc. by decree. However, in making those decrees, he has to act constitutionally. Otherwise he could decree anything, no matter how repugnant to the constitution. I am aware that the constitution does not apply to people outside the US; that is the reason why the plaintiffs in these cases have been individuals or businesses in the US who could be affected by the travel ban, for example preventing them from entertaining overseas clients or bringing in skilled employees.

      Believe me, the accident stats back in “the islands” are way worse.
      It’s positively dangerous for kids especially disabled ones living there.
      The adults think safety is a joke, that only silly Palagis worry about.
      They leave a kid of about 12 or even younger in charge of hordes of kids.
      A young Pacifica girl I knew nearly bled to death when her wrist was badly cut on a glass door while babysitting half a dozen kids.
      They pay no attention to water safety at the beach…why would they bother close to home?

The Tories were 24 points ahead of Corbyn’s party when the election was called but the polls have tightened in recent weeks.
