Labour’s $25 ‘tourist tax’ is a brilliant policy. Watch the voters go for it.

On the announcement, TV1’s newsroom was on message, using stock pictures of the despised Asians taking photographs.

All those kiwis who have been overjoyed to find human shit in their local beauty spots, not to mention nearly getting wiped out by foreign drivers on our roads etc will go for this big time.

For years, local and central administrations have studiously ignored calls for more spending in the provinces (classic case Franz Josef) to alleviate the problems tourists bring, so National will now pay for it at the ballot box.

        But tourism is a bit of a lame industry. It is bit of a sell out when a country has a chicken shit economy through over taxation and regulation. Easy for the mongs in Wellington to get tourists numbers coming here so it boosts the low wage economy. But it really doesn’t add anything to NZ. It’s bit of a racket overall.         As for that low-wage economy…I like to call it lunch, dinner, etc. While we’re starting to see improving productivity in traditionally low skilled areas (I mean, let’s face it, we’ve been trying to get food services more productive since they invented drive throughs…) that still has some kinks to work out. But, irrespective, having food choice is a good thing. I doubt you’re going to win any votes going, ‘Bugger foreigners, we want to eat a diet of mutton and to drink pure NZ water…all day, every day…and you can maybe have some pancakes, but no bananas, as they’re grown by wogs’.

        Taxation can’t be isolated a factor in stronger economies than NZ, but here are three countries: Canada, Singapore, Switzerland.
        
        As for NZ’s comparative wealth …
        
        On three measures – the IMF and World Bank (2016) and the UN (2015) – NZ is 21st, 19th, and 24th in GDP per capita. (It’s interesting that NZ GDP per capital fell in each of the last two reported quarters.)

      Are you a tea or coffee person? Do you enjoy going out to nice restaurants that serve quality food?
      Have you travelled to places overseas? Did your ancestors, (no matter what race) come from overseas?
      These are simple questions but if a “yes” answer I would remind you that we have overseas people (tourists) to thank for these things. Early NZ prior to anyone living here did not offer those things. It wasn’t that great with the early settlors either. Muttonbird anyone.
      Not until tourism both NZers travellign and other people coming to NZ did we start to get the things we enjoy on a daily basis i.e. the flat white coffee etc.,
      The socialists want diversity, well tourists bring that.

        Winston Peters has been trumpeting how well he was doing in the polls with his internal Polling and when the news of Shane Reti being streets a head of Shane Jones surfaced and some saying Peters will be lucky to retain his seat things showed maybe National might be able to get close all of a sudden NZ First bargaining power was being reduced, so I believe he has set the hit up on himself because the landscape was about to change.

  Here’s my conspiracy theory. The leaker was Peter Dunne. IRD would also have been aware of the issue, so it seems reasonable to assume that he would have been briefed under the ‘no surprises’ policy. And his good friend, Andrea Vance, seems to know quite a bit about it.
  
  Watch for Dunne to pick up a nice sinecure if Labour wins. Something like…….chairing an enquiry into NZ’s constitutional arrangements, and the changes required to become a republic.

  And those people need to be educated. Personally, I don’t really like tourists (they get in the way, they don’t follow our customs, etc.). However, my personal irritations are outweighed by massive economic benefit.
  
  I don’t like watching farm animals being slaughtered (prefer hunting), but I love blue steaks. The people who bubble-wrap themselves need to see what is going on.

      Too many tourists becomes a form of pollution and warps the economy . It is a fickle industry – I travelled to Guatamala just after the USA economy collapsed . The American hordes stop visiting the year I did. It was awful to see the locals trekking in overburdened with their tourist wares to set up on the endless streetside markets and to see the empty eating places and no one arriving to buy- except 3 kiwis ! Tourism levels have to be carefully controlled and I do not see any evidence of this in the policies being promoted at the moment.

Suggest that when it became known that he over collected his pension due to his own incompetence in being unable to fill in a simple form, then go all out to blame the National Party, and in particularly English, who he not forgiven over the leaked emails in the Dipton affair as Winston not listened to (Yet).
By so doing he is trying this morning in a conciliatory way, I suggest, that if National have to deal with him then he will be in demanding position with English on the back foot.

I see the National Party and the Labour Party are into a “race to the bottom” with their spending plans. The redeeming feature for National (and it is only a minor redemption) is that they’ll have costed their policies and will leave the projected tax cuts in place. Labour are pandering to young voters/ students at the expense of workers at every level of the market and pay scales. I fear a drop in the $ should Labour get home in September, once the $ drops interest rates will climb and we’ll have a genuine housing crisis on our hands as those young voters confront their mortgage repayments at interest rates unseen for a decade. We “lucky” baby-boomers have been there and done this while our first mortgage rates hovered around 17-20% in the 1980s. In short Labour will send this country to hell. Be wary!

  If as it appears likely that when Labour are in charge, correctly it is said that the dollar will drop then all out imports will go up suddenly, at the same time as immigration becomes again emigration of our brightest overseas.
  But taking my personal view my overseas pension (taxed in NZ) and investments in term deposits will go up as fast as mortgages will.
  It is my children’s mortgage repayments that will be a concern but they are not over extended and should be able to handle.
  Many will really feel the punch – but that is history repeating itself.

  The young lady has changed a lot of things. She now wears contacts, that will make a difference to how she sees the ball when addressing it, depending on what type of sight she has. If I wear my contacts I can’t see things close, they are for distance.
  She has also grown a lot taller, hence her swing will be somewhat different.
  However the main thing I believe is that she is trying to study as well as play golf. Michelle Wie tried that and in the end decided to finish her degree and then return to golf.
  I think Lydia needs to do one or the other. Both study and golf take up a lot of head room and concentration, difficult to do both things at once.

She pointed the finger at the present behind the scenes tactician Helen Clark,whom in a master stroke in 2005 bribed the voters with interest “free” student loans,and is now back visiting the well.
Unfortunately with Clarks 2005 bribe, NZs taxpayers now have a virtually out of control student loan debt of circa Fifteen Billion Dollars. With her latest plan to steal the election again ,with more so called “free” money for students,an extra six billion dollars has been mentioned.
Rachel Smalley thought,that that type of bribe should have gone into health.She was also very bitter and aghast and remenbered in the reign of Helen Clark,there were no hospital waiting lists,only because Clark made it compulsory by making sure they were cancelled. Sadly by her political act to remain in power,even to this day,the thousands of people who Clark had removed from the lists,either died or are in bad health ,what an indictment,of a power hungry potential no holds barred Labour Goverment.

So. Winston’s up in arms and talking to Lawyers about his breach of privacy. I agree, the details of his superannuation are private and confidential and not for leaking. However, Winston needs to make it clear how he came into possession of private txts and, as a result, has been threatening to release them. Can’t have it both ways Winston. Someone leaked private information to you and you’ve been playing cat and mouse with that info and you’re now threatening legal action to the someone you think has leaked your private info into the public area. Pot calling the kettle black springs to mind…….
I would have thought, also, Winston, you would need to be very clear and confident of the source of your leaked private info before you start pointing the finger of blame at individuals. Even a Lawyer should understand that.

He said he got it on a friday but because he was fact checking he did not use it until monday. The leaker when not seeing it used on the weekend leaked it to the MSM.

The way to get that is NOT to put a proven loser in charge. Under Bill, National are not:

– well led (the unbroken chain of cluster fucks that has catapaulted My Little Pony into such a strong position is proof of appalling leadership).

I’ve just watched Shane Jones on 7 days (he was the ‘yes minister’ guest).

While I might stand accused of being a bit shallow in judging a person by his appearance on a comedy programme, I really did think he came across as a greasy arsehole.

He was up himself, he made no eye contact with the panellists and he had an irritating fake grin and fake ‘Maori’ accent. What a slimeball.

Why the hell don’t National get some fire in their belly and at least go down swinging? They need to go on the freaking attack! Labour is getting away with blue murder (announcing batshit insane policies that will quickly collapse our fragile little economy) yet National wont even call them out on this..
I think National are sunk. But Christ they could at least go down fighting? Surely the hardworking (yet doomed) New Zealand Taxpayer deserves that?

  Why am I not surprised. Lefties are pretty much into the unconventional when it comes to sex and, for some reason, many of them end up in politics. Labour is all over this thing though. As Jacinda told the crowd at K’ Rds ‘Family Bar’ when they released their rainbow policies, “As I say, Rainbow Labour is the heart of making sure we remain progressive in the next frontier [..] and the next frontier is transgender and intersex rights.”

  It’s such a shame when divorce is so high, child abuse is so prevalent and youth suicide is such an issue, that the thing that concerns our politicians most are gay marriage and transgender issues.
  
  I would like to see our government deal with actual marriage issues and look at the question of are there government policies that discourage marriage? There are issues around income splitting, there are issues around de facto couples getting the same rights as married couples which should be investigated.
  
  Actual marriage between a man and a woman is how you start a family and is the best environment for children to be raised in. Why we are neglecting actual marriage to focus on issues that affect only a very small sector of the population is a mystery?

For instance, you shouldn’t put food into your ear to ‘eat’ because it’s the wrong orifice, and doing so will not be healthy for you. It’s not rocket science.       Unfortunately what we do in private as consenting adults does affect other people. Many people in New Zealand choose to live together. The children that may result from that union are very unlikely to have those same 2 parents caring for them in the same house by the time they are 15. De facto relationships are unstable and the majority of them do not last 5 years.
      
      Homosexual relationships are notorious for their promiscuity and the idea that they are just as good for a child as having mum and dad is unproven to say the least.
      
      No, children need mum and dad and marriage providing them a stable family unit where they can flourish and grow.
      
      Those of us in the church ministering to children and young people and young families know first-hand the devastation these unstable relationships can have on the children. Children are young and vulnerable and dependent on the parents. The least we could do is encourage marriage and family stability so these kids can get a decent chance at life.

A petition calling for Mike Hoskings to be dropped as the moderator for three televised debates will be presented to TVNZ Head of News John Gillespie today.
The petition has over 74000 signatories.
Petition organiser Erica Finnie said Hoskings right wing views made him unfit to be moderator of the debates.
“The election debates need to be hosted by a fair, unbiased presenter to ensure politicians have reasonable opportunities to present their party’s views,” she said.
However Ms Finnie has not disclosed to the public her own credentials which are closely aligned with the Greens Party:

Another example of why this country is going to be bankrupt soon.
A guy I work with told me about his useless retard of a daughter whose been on and off the benefit since leaving school and despite having a few jobs has never stuck at any of them for a variety of snivelling reasons.
Anyway her car battery packed up so she went to WINZ for a loan on the premise she needed the car to go to job interviews.
They shelled out $170 for the battery and then made her repay it at $1 a week.
WTF?????
To add insult to injury the guy told me while laughing that his daughter is paying the car off at $90 a week and this finishes in 2 weeks so she will then have all this money which could have been used to buy the battery anyway.
Country is just full of bloody parasites who think ripping off the system is all a big laugh but the spineless government allows these wasters to do it so what can we expect really.
