So I was in the waiting room the other day, picked up the Woman’s Weekly and the big story was James Shaw and his two exceedingly proud gay mums, one is (or was) a school teacher.

The article said Shaw’s old man ‘abandoned’ him when he was tiny; might have been something to do with realizing the Mrs wasn’t into men.

Whatever, but check out the Greens list now; mostly chicks. Two older, but long serving, stalwart white males purged. Shaw’s a walking thesis.

Check out Espiner’s brutal IV with Shaw this morning. Around 7.13 is where he lands the big body blows

James Shaw and Metiria Turei are now officially the Ren and Stimpy show. The resemblance is uncanny in all respects.

    Raises an interesting question. If petrol cars are banned what happens to all the hydrocarbons left over when they extract the fractions required to make jet fuel. Jet fuel will become much more expensive and there will be vast amounts of useless stuff produced that used to be burned to power cars.

Fake news.
Red radio headline at the eight o’clock news was that the two green PM’s who resigned did not give the 48 hrs notice of their resignation. In an interview with Shaw earlier he stated that they had been in discusion with the two PM’s for the last two weeks to sway them from resigning. The interviewer queried him in depth about this pressing him on the fact that he new about and was discussing their descision for the last two weeks.
This is an example of Red Radio polishing a turd so as to not to give bad news about its lefty mates.

If there was any doubt that the Greens were anything more than a piss take party, Shaws comments regarding the resignations of Kennedy Graham and David Clendon yesterday confirms the Greens are a joke , a political embarrassment , a party of pretenders.
Shaw exhibited no humility in criticising his colleagues on their departure, his scorn was obvious, we will remove them from the party he said.
Graham and Clendon have shown true strength of character, a conviction lacking in their leaders. They have demonstrated integrity in resigning and stand head and shoulders apart from their colleagues.

They have decided to not even put the guy called Vernon Small on the job.who virtually sleeps with the Lie-bour/Green Party.

While I agree with her – and many others – that there is plenty that can be done about foreign companies profiting from our water with no dividend for NZ, when she said “nothing going to the collective“, that sent a shiver up my spine…

      Go and visit a farm and see how much water is actually used per litre of milk produced.
      AND stay away from those farms that are in areas where the only way to grow grass is to irrigate as they are a small but stupid minority.
      Go and look at the majority of farms that do not irrigate.
      Also you can’t include the rainfall either as that is just another red herring.

        It is a lot more complicated .
        A milking cow drinks about 70 l a day and produces about 25l of milk. In the off season it is still drinking 30l a day . The milking process also consumers a lot of water.
        Then you have what the dairy factories use to process the milk.
        
        Many high yield dairy farms are on flats were damming of run off rain water is not an option.
        They instead use streams or ground water.
        
        Streams become an issue in periods of drought as excessive use can and does dry them out.
        Ground water depletion can be a long term problem.

      As Griff mentioned, how can you begrudge a dairy cow a drink of water.
      There are other things to consider as well, and we are all learning of new things.
      
      I know of dairy sheds and piggeries prior to the 1960’s that directly flowed all effluent in drains to streams and rivers. So much has changed now, and farmers have made the ongoing changes, whether with carrot or stick, and many by their own volition when knowledge became available.
      
      As the tree keeps up taking water, to grow wood, leaves roots, and then that single almond, well many almonds.

    900m tonnes of water falls somewhere on the earth every minute of every day.
    NZ with it’s mountains is a great catchment for rain water but the loopy Greens don’t want to see us damming rivers, so much of this clean rain water disappears into the oceans.

    Millions of litres of polluting fresh water, flowing from the Manapouri Power Scheme into Little Cove of Doubtful Sound. Nah not a peep about that waste water being poured into the natural salty sea water environment.
    
    Not even allowed to do any mitigation, as it is considered to be also disgusting.
    A compliance to be discreet and environmentally aware would easily pump and pipe this flow, to perhaps a bottling plant, or even pump directly aboard onto ships.
    These days with rules and regulations it will all be monitored at the water takers costs.

Listening to James Shaw this morning, in one of few good interviews by Guyon, it was obvious that Shaw was way out of his depth. Nobody has told him stop digging when you are the bottom of the pit – there is nowhere to go.
Loosing two stalwarts and highly respected Green MPs is a disaster whatever your political views of the Greens may be.
I assume that there are no men left in the Caucus because listening to Shaw he does not count.
It appears from his comments that Senior Green Party members are not only supporting Turei, along with all the Caucus, but were lying to denigrate the roles that these two long time and respected members. The Party are holding the reins and he is doing what he is told by these “very”Mature ladies who control the party.
Sad Sad Sad.
This should see the eviscerating on the Green Party as we know it.
It may have a place in New Zealand but this is not the way.

I drove to Auckland on late afternoon Sunday. I got stuck in a traffic jam at Rangiriri. It was torturous. The car over heated, and so did I. Then I got traffic jams at Ramarama then another at Takanini.
Then I thought, has there been a time in the past twenty years when my travels on that road were not interrupted by road works. They never end. I recall travelling that road in 1970. I had a worn out Volkswagen beetle. I timed myself and it took 1 hour 31 minutes for me to get to Symonds Street exit, where the motorway finished at that time. Last Sunday it took 2 hours 40 minutes for the same trip in a six cylinder car with disc brakes, air conditioning AM/FM radio and a CD player and after so many improvements to the road.
The Volkswagen could never ever beat the 90 minute time.

  Have to say that the motorway now does seem to get awfully crowded at weekends. last time I drove up to Auckland I was caught up in a jam from before Drury to after the road works before Manukau on a Friday afternoon, then another large jam at Manukau (for the roadworks) until Takanini on Sunday morning.
  
  I’m used to the rush hour traffic, but huge traffic jams at every hour seems excessive.
  
  It was made worse on the way in as once we got past the roadworks the traffic thinned out enough to make it OK until some f***wit managed to do a nose-to-tail in the outside lane just after Penrose and had to sit for another 15 minutes to get around that.

The media want to play games and think Winston First holds the top cards in the Todd Barclay saga. Winston’s story now is that instead of Barclay taping his staff he was taping Bill English and the staff member that lodged the complaint hatching a plan to rid the electorate of Barclay. So the unethical three journalist hops into bed with Peters to do a hit on English’s credibility and trust to start another conversation on National ability to be trusted to have another three years as our Government. Last night on the news Winston led people to believe he had the answers along with 250 odd emails and thinks English is scared they are about to be released but when Gower pushed the Questions suggesting Bills dodgyness was about to come to a end he laughed and just carried on. If that’s scared Bill would be a champion card player.

      They need to realise the resignations of David Clendon and Kennedy Graham are not going to look to the wider public like clearing out of dead wood; rather, it will make the party look woefully unstable just seven weeks out from the election.
      
      The Greens need to realise that all this is, in Lloyd Burr’s words, looking like the “Welfare Party” rather than the “Green Party”.
      
      They need to realise very serious charges may yet come from the Ministry of Social Development – charges of fraud under the Crimes Act are possible.
      
      They need to realise the story is now totally out of control and may not stop before Election Day.
      
      The Greens need to realise it is not just a few “stale pale males who don’t understand poverty” that are against the benefit fraud admission, but that it has caused widespread discontent in New Zealand, wider than anybody thought.
      
      They need to realise a Newshub-Reid Research poll showed 74 percent of Kiwis think Turei was wrong, and 51 percent of Green voters also thought she was wrong.
      
      The Greens need to realise Jacinda Ardern is going to come in for its votes and, to a lesser extent, so is Gareth Morgan.
      
      They need to realise Turei ruling herself out of a ministerial role relieved, but did not stop the political pain.
      
      The Greens need to realise they look hell-bent on self-destruction – and by self-destruction I mean slipping back to single-figure minor party status.
      
      Whatever their beliefs of the rights and wrongs, the Greens have to just realise it hasn’t worked.
      
      The Greens also have to confront the most difficult of questions – if we want to stop this, does Turei have to go?

The news clip stopped abruptly as obviously they don’t want people to see something was wrong with him.   It seems Winston (no doubt desperate for media attention and relevance thanks to wall-to-wall coverage of the ongoing Green Party Muppet show series and the ascent of Saint Comrade Jacinda) is desperately attempting to rehash the “Teapots” II saga, the one in which what was said on tape back then was rather mild and non-threatening, but it was the Media’s attempts to make the National Party’s response (“hey MSM these are private conversations” etc) the news instead and of course NZF went up in the polls due to innuendo and Winston plays the sympathy vote for all he could.
  
  Seems like Winston is trying to sucker the MSM and National into this so-called Barcly tape “drama” this time, but what it actually shows is a nasty and vile Winston Peters (making a moutain of a molehill) and hopefully voters will see that and treat Winston with the disdain he deserves!

  I doubt any of his supporters would be happy being in coalition with a thief like her.

This has spread well beyond Turei. Shaw is sunk. The rest of the MPs are tainted and many may not survive. How can they hold any government to account on matters of integrity? It will be impossible.

It is a concern that a sector of society, and the media, think this is okay. It is not. It strikes at the very heart of what binds us together – namely that we follow the rules, collectively. If the rules become arbitrary, then everything becomes arbitrary and society splinters. We become like Greece

Perhaps that was the endgame all along….

Winston First feels left out he can’t come out and say anything in support of Labour or the Greens so he suffocating with no air and looks like a leader with nothing good to say. The media are saying he is the master of drip feeding information to hurt other Parties but I think he might be playing a bluff to create some air over Todd Barclay and the 250 odd emails that he says he has. It is alright to have the times and dates of when the emails were sent but it is a entirely different story to say you have the contents, so Winston shut up or put up what you have if you expect people to believe your story as we have been led down the garden path before remember Huka Falls.

I think she was suggesting he amended laws to legitimise his actions but by then I couldn’t be sure what I was hearing as I was shouting so loudly at the radio.

  No political party is going to do that – it would be electoral suicide. It wouldn’t be the ‘right’ thing anyway, Christian or not – and I am. People don’t need to be told anymore what to do – that’s what caused the problem. They do need to be encouraged to make positive, rational choices as opposed to theoretical and ideological choices or just plain wishful thinking.
  
  Over time, the species developed social strategies for dealing with life-threatening issues. This ‘generation’ is the first one that is different.
  
  Rather than take a rational approach and alter behaviour that is destructive to one that prevents harm, people seek to continue dangerous behaviour with free licence, demanding that ‘science’ provide the means to enable its continuance without consequence.
  
  Ironically, we also live in a ‘health cult’. But it’s expressed in a commitment to only too readily pour endless drugs/medicines into the body to deal with one infection/problem at a time in a knee-jerk reaction, with no real knowledge of longer term effects.
  
  Nevertheless, people should and must have autonomous choice for which they need consistently good information. Unfortunately, they tend to get marketing spin by alternating interest groups. Now and again, however, there is a touch of reality in such articles. The choices are clear.
  
  It’s up to people to make them, especially young people. If they can’t figure out that there is something wrong, in fact absurd, about any organism having to be medicated in order to survive in its natural environment because of its choice of behaviour, they’re not capable of rational choice anyway.
  
  It can’t possibly work ultimately – but self-indulgence is extremely hard to give up. It’s a test we all suffer from.

    Sexual healthcare should be ‘pay as you go’ like dentistry currently is. 90% of citizens understand that if they put the wrong things in their mouths and don’t wash their teeth then it will be costly to remedy the matter. Sexual organs should be treated no differently. Antibiotics should not be given out in the way they currently are by government.       Women have the ‘right’ and ‘privilege’ to start being medicated in primary school to try to prevent rampant disease from their multiple sexual partners. They’re encouraged to take even more, as life goes on, to prevent or destroy pregnancy and to treat the inevitable diseases and the consequences of them and the medications, and it continues right through to menopause.
      
      Women are just so ‘liberated’ now. Not. Free to spread disease, even to their children, and die.

      I always remember one really sanctimonious Christian wedding I attended. The groom was from the wrong side of the tracks but had had a conversion experience, and was marrying a white bread Baptist minister’s daughter, and her brother was the assistant pastor. So his family turn up, and instead of celebrating the wedding for what it was, nearly the whole thing was a evangelistic service aimed at them.         Gruffydd, I’ve known so many people like you, men and women – your view is, like GoVege, woefully antiquated.
        
        Do you really believe all the people with HIV, HPV, and other STIs, and the resulting various cancers, deliberately had sex with those who ‘looked’ diseased. A lot of them wouldn’t have even known they had it.
        
        The diseases are all now so prevalent, including amongst the ‘innocent’ partners in what they believe are monogamous relationships, those who believe they’ve had ‘safe sex’, and those getting it from blood etc. – your ‘assessment’ means absolutely nothing.

It is sad to see the coalescing of the 3rd wave of feminists, genderists, into social justice warrior stands to lead a change in society to bring political correctness, loss of free speech as it is considered it should have consequences, far above any reasoning counter debate.

It is still early days, but we need to guard and keep the free speech in debate and reasoning that political pressure applied to Utube, google, face book, etc shutting down.

I may not agree with the 2 dissenting greens, but I did consider some of things that they were part of.
I think they will find other platforms of what they are about, these days with Utube, face book etc.

  Just imagine what would happen if they got into government. Except, in fact, if that happened, they wouldn’t do any of the things they say they would do – because it simply isn’t possible – and would go on doing pretty much what the current government is doing, only adding favouritism for their ‘pet projects’ at the cost of the national debt.
  
  They would also, of course, do what Left governments the world over are doing, their best to remove the influence of voters who disagree with them, even more than now.

      I believe you must be very elderly, GoVege. You’re constantly talking as if what ‘used to be’ still applies. You wouldn’t know what ‘my type’ is, primarily because I don’t have one – unless it’s seeing reality and being rational.
      
      I remember thinking through Clarke’s government that the most Right wing parties of the past would be rolling in their graves at what Labour did to the ‘poor’, working class, and women. The Right wing have always had a human side. They’ve also had their share of hard feminists – who were infinitely ‘harder’ than any of the men, as they are on the Left.
      
      The acceptance of liberalism was difficult to avoid – which Party would succeed in stifling free access to sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll – especially for women? Especially when the marketing gloss for supposed ‘freedom’ was so good – but then there weren’t pictures of mass teens on a Friday night vomiting all over Queen St then; and no HIV, cancer from HPV etc.
      
      It’s been a very, very long time since anywhere was ‘overflowing with unwanted babies’. There haven’t been babies available for adoption in NZ, sufficient to satisfy demand, for many decades.
      
      Similarly, most of the maternal deaths from abortions resulted from lack of hygiene and poor practice. From the 60s it was minimal as skills and hygiene improved.
      
      But then, the argument ‘for’ abortion – that women had little choice about getting pregnant – dissolved decades ago. There’s a big difference about a society which forced women to have multiple children at the behest of their husbands/employers and what applies now.
      
      There’s a big difference in women who have a medical, mental or emotional problem accessing abortion and those who want to use it as a form of contraception because they can’t be bothered preventing it and/or don’t want their ‘lifestyle’ disrupted.
      
      Your views are antiquated and no longer relevant. If the human race is to have any hope of survival, it has to get a lot more real.

        Abortion was the #1 killer of teenage girls until the mid-70s because there was no reliable contraception or legal abortion available to them.
        In sexist nations (which is most nations ) thousands of girls and women still die this way.
        The only girls/women who use abortion as contraception are those who are brainwashed by their sexist, irrational culture (which has its own racist party here in NZ) not to use contraception.
        They have a high abortion rate as a result.
        The shortage of babies for adoption is a good thing.
        No girl/woman should be forced to carry then give up their child.

        It’s just plain that the world you’re talking about ceased to exist a long time ago – in NZ – at least 50 years plus. I don’t live in Africa etc. and, quite frankly, it isn’t our business. We have enough problems here. They have both a right and responsibility to make their own choices for their own society – not accept your pronouncements on what they ‘should’ do.
        
        Your comments on women not using abortion as contraception are somewhat bizarre – they clearly are using it like that; some of them multiple times.
        
        I don’t believe there are significant numbers being deprived of contraception. If they’re out at night (or day) drinking and/or having sex, it’s hard to see them as burdened with a conscience about contraception. This isn’t the 19thC where ignorant servant girls were induced into sex. it’s everywhere.
        
        Your views on adoption are arguably also bizarre. You think it’s cruel for someone to give a child up for adoption – and in a situation where they can be in contact with them for the rest of their life if they want to – but not for them to have a foetus ripped out of their womb and the pieces burnt – which can’t be undone should they ever regret it, which many do.
        
        Not, these days, that anyone has to give up their child for adoption. They’re paid to enable them to keep them.
        
        As I say, you talk as if the last 50 years never happened.
        
        Another thing that has happened, though, in western societies, is that more youth are recognising the fraudulence of the whole ‘free sex’ movement and are managing their behaviour more responsibly than how their parents (and their parents’ advisors) behaved – thank heaven.         This has nothing to do with my beliefs but their own need to have control of their lives, not be slaves and punch-bags for men.
        Young women forced to give up their babies for adoption, and the children themselves, often go through tremendous suffering.
        Abortion is the humane alternative.
        If it wasn’t for some other people forcing their irrational beliefs on others, most abortions would be able to be performed at a very early stage, when the embryo is just a blob of cells.
        It’s true some cultures pressure their females not to use contraception so they end up using abortion as a type of contraception.
        If they dropped the stupid platitudes like “every child is a gift from God ” they might start facing the reality of what a huge commitment having a child is and start using contraception.

  They have the option of a confirmed and adamant group committed to past, present, and future criminality – or no-one.
  
  What would happen, I wonder, if Labour got into government and the Greens made it a bottom line that no-one is to be prosecuted for benefit or electoral fraud? Is Labour going to be forced to adopt their other policies around increasing the benefit, not naming fathers, etc?
  
  I know they would also rely on Winston – which, sadly, just happens to be why I’ve never voted for him – but he’s hardly a soulmate for Labour. He’s already made a bottom line that there’s a referendum on Maori seats – which Ardern is equally insistent is not going to happen.
  
  It’s all very comical on the Left at present. We just have to hope they don’t get into government. Everything would turn into a circus.

    I still think that is the most likely outcome, and certainly my preferred one.
    
    Unlike Labour, National can allow the referendum easily enough, even if they would prefer not to have it. After all, abolishing the seats is still National policy.
    
    Given Adern’s adamant “NO” to the referendum, and the ongoing Turei circus, I just can’t see Winston going with them. And with Adern’s potential to raise Labour votes combined with the continuing low to zero polling of ACT and UF, National is going to need NZF. All power to those who want to two ticks blue, but the reality is that National is likely going to have to deal with NZF regardless.

      Ardern did leave the door open, though, when talking to Lisa Owen – who did her best to clarify it but Ardern relentlessly hedged. All Ardern would say is that Maori should make the decision on Maori seats themselves. When Lisa Owen then asked if they could have a referendum involving the Maori roll only, Ardern just fluffed about. She could use that as a way out to get NZF onside.
      
      I confess Winston is getting old – and I don’t have nearly the same confidence that Shane Jones would be like him.
      
      We’ll have to see how things shape up. Whatever else happens, until Labour returns to being reality-based, genuinely Labour which is representative of the majority of working people, and non-minority-activist, I won’t be voting for them.

  A couple of points
  The last thing Labour wants to do is get bogged down arguing the toss with the Greens about their internal affairs.
  Once the election dust has settled they may have a chance of forming a government, but this will certainly require some sort of agreement with the Greens and probably NZ 1st. I daresay they’ll be wanting to go into negotiations on an amicable footing otherwise the next three years is going be even more difficult.

This official research shows that in 2006 homelessness being the sum of severe housing deprivation and without accommodation post census was 33,946 – 0.8% of the population.

Which says homelessness “where more than 40,000 people live on the streets or in emergency housing or substandard shelters.”

If you go and look you notice a few things. First off, the increase is 0.2% 2 years after the Christchurch earthquakes and not far removed from global recession.

Second, the alleged increase in total homelessness (severely deprived or unable to find accommodation or living in temporary commercial residence) is LESS THEN the increase in ‘indeterminable’ – which is up 0.3% in the 2012 census.

So no one said shit about homelessness in 2006 when it was Helen Clark and her caring social democracy, but it goes up by 0.2% of the population as of 2013 after the earthquakes and GFC and these figures are used to state ‘homelessness is the government’s legacy’. Which is utter rot .

  All these ‘inspired’ youth by the ‘optimistic’ Ardern are nauseating as well. They naively think they are the first generation to care about other people.
  
  There are good reasons why Labour voters stopped voting Labour during and after the Clarke government. It’s because they were infinitely worse than the right wing – created more hardship, tolerated more poverty, lowered more wages, destabilised the family, etc. etc.
  
  Instead they pursued gay rights, hard-Left feminism which removes all women’s rights except to a hard and medicated life (the more alone the better), and forced things like energy-saving light bulbs (which were infinitely more toxic).
  
  In other words, they left all Labour principles, in terms of working people, behind as they turned to hard-Left academic/intellectual ideology. Then, faced with dissent, they decided ‘the people’ weren’t smart enough to determine political or social direction and just ignored them, in entirety, in favour of following their supposed ‘consciences’ – while issuing dictatorial instructions about life in general to anyone and everyone. If you didn’t like it – tough.
  
  ‘The people’ returned the favour. They haven’t been in government since. However, there is no sign that their attitude has yet changed – and the Metiria Turei issue just confirms it.

      I continue to say, the one thing the Left learned and have practised to an art form is ‘communications’ – reframing of both concepts and context (just as they are doing with Turei at present – she’s not fraudulent and a liar; she’s another ‘Ghandi’), brainwashing, marketing, social pressure, etc.- and they take their strategies from everywhere from ordinary psychology to Nazism.
      
      They have successfully introduced and maintain both ‘divide and rule’ and ruthless punishment of dissension. They love the innate desire of people to scapegoat other people and things, and the innate liking for ‘bloodsports’ in the arena – which is what the media has become.
      
      There are a number of older Europeans disturbed by their recognition of the same strategies that prevailed in Europe before and during WWII.
      
      Anyone who doesn’t see that they are very good at it is deluded.
      
      What has pleasantly surprised me is the extent to which the public can see past it, as they did at the last election – it remains to be seen if that still applies with this time’s ‘sunny, young, charismatic’ strategy as opposed to last time’s scandals and accusation.

        We the people are more than we the politicians. This time too the pollies will need to be more than ideological parrots as they are heading into a global financial crisis. The next government will need all the skill possible. The excess credit creation of the central banks has started to be unwound. There is only a limited time for which interest rates of zero can be sustained. Are savers not to be rewarded? How can pension funds survive? If a central bank captures the bulk of a nations marketable securities who is in charge and who are the serfs? An unwinding must come.
        Communications are just that: they are the heat surrounding a newly baked cake. They give a message but a capable baker is still needed.
        Too many opposition MP’s have no cake but an unpleasant burnt fragrance.

And following on from my comment now because Bill English supports science and new thinking, information sharing and social investment not spending to virtue signal, we have the Index of Multiple Deprivation – which can cross factor 28 indicators down to the level of groups of 700 to provide a fucking map of deprivation in New Zealand.

This is the core difference between National and Labour – new thinking, tech, individualised analysis. Not just rampant, endless, worthless, useless virtue signalling and spending. Please get the word out Kiwibloggers. Damn Al Jazeera of all stations bad-mouthing NZ for it’s welfare policies. How many refugees have the slave petro kingdoms in the Gulk taken in again?

  Australia and New Zealand are both sucked in to this ‘export education’ to a point where it is causing major distortions in the economy and the promise of residency is something that should never have been part of this great plan.
  There are many questions that should be answered around this and how they have let people in the Punjab and other Indian areas run this rort is a big negative.
  It is not surprising corruption has emerged.

    The issue is that if you want to diversity the economy, education isn’t a bad way to do it. But I fully support nailing the jeets who pull these tricks and toughening up on the criteria for people to stay on post education. India needs their qualifications and guidance I’m sure more then NZ.

Susanne Ruthven announced she will withdraw from the race at a pre-election debate on Tuesday evening.

The debate was held at Waiwhetu Uniting Church in Woburn, Lower Hutt.

Current Hutt South MP Trevor Mallard said: “It’s sad to see someone who has put so much into the Green Party over the last two elections, but has been unable to see it through.”
