I rarely, if ever make a political comment, because we all know generally speaking, it is a load of bollocks, full of lying, pretentious shallow failures who come across as childish idiots, but I would like to give David some advice, I gave him some advice a few years back, to start running, which he took, and now I would like to say to you David, be as gracious as you were in the winning as you are now in the losing. Don’t be petty David, and give Jacinda a go, we all know she means well for New Zealand, being a gracious loser will hold you in good stead later. Please be objective, don’t be a hater and a sad loser, or how can readers respect your blog as objective with sense?

  How has our host been a hater? He has praised areas where the new govt has been effective, and pointed out failures, eg the bottled water tax.
  He actually provides some analysis and does the maths on policies, rather than just reprint press releases.

  As far as politics go, I am very right wing, but in the facade of modern day politics I do feel we should respect a good person and what they want to see done.
  
  The last National government made it almost impossible for young people to own their own houses.

  The problem is how much damage the new lot will do. NZ is in the best shape it has ever been thanks to lots of hard work in the last 9 years despite handicaps like the GFC and earthquakes etc. If we give these clowns a break as you ask, it just means more to fix down the track. Labour don’t like to think too deeply about the wider consequences of their policies. They just like the.socialist buzz of spending money and don’t care where the money comes from.

I’ve learned over the past few weeks the sheer extent how “globalist” and Marxist the NZ school curriculum is and the extent to which they are trying to reinvent the past with a narrative of “Evil European colonialism” so to push a “one humanity” mindset.

So that we’re not blended out of history as per the Coudenove-Kalegri plan, European New Zealanders must secure the existence of our people and a future for our children and work hard to battle assimilation and create an environment where young Kiwi Europeans will study and socialise so that they will eventually meet and marry a European partner and build European homes.

        They are labels we stick on groups of people that have more to do with language, culture, history, and geographic boundaries than anything else. As far as genetics is concerned, they not radically different races. My ancestory is Cornish, but I’m not genetically different to someone who is Irish or French, or Chinese.
        
        If race is no such thing – why are you labelling people “White Supremcists”?

        Here is the part of Ead’s view of things I don’t understand. He is obviously anti-Jewish, but he is supposedly a Christian. I’m basing that on his frequent reference to “White Christians” being under attack. But, if you’re a Christian, that means you follow a religion invented by a Jew, based partly on the Jewish holy books, and sharing the same Jewish Middle Eastern deity. How does that work?

        By dissembling/obfuscation, the likes of EAD will say they have nothing against Jews personally, indeed ordinary Jews are not in on the conspiracy, so they are just like any Gentile. The New Testament portrays the as Church, built on the prophets (i.e., Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc) and the Apostles as the culmination of God’s purposes, which, in the main Judaism has rejected. So there are elements of both continuity and discontinuity with the people of the Old Testament. Christians of various branches disagree how and where that line is drawn. Nonetheless
        
        1. the covenant promises of God are made first to Jews,…then to the Gentiles.
        
        2. the church, even to this day, while primarily Gentile, also contains Jewish Christians within it. Judaism may not agree – their problem.

When I asked why I found his answer hard to disagree with: “If you worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob you must come through his Son, Jesus Christ. Both islam and Judaism reject him”.

        As per Tennyson, “nature red in tooth and claw” is not always benevolent. Indeed often not. And in the cyclical pagan schema that is its permanent condition, often with capricious competing, sometimes warring deities crapping on piddly humans – so it is not just the three monotheist faiths that lay the foundations for dissension due to differences of religious opinion! 🙂

More clear, indeed definitive is that which God has revealed in his holy history, which culminated in…the physical resurrection of his Son Jesus Christ from the dead. That was always the defining “proof” according to the preaching of the Apostles in the New Testament book of Acts, whether their audience was Jewish, or (pagan) Gentile. This is so, because “God raised Jesus Christ from the dead”. So God has triumphed over fallen nature, and given a promise it will be restored, including the abolition of death. Hence the “natural cycle” of birth and death and rebirth is not then permanent order. And at least with the claim that Christ rose from the dead, there is something that qualifies as a test for “falsifiability”. Paganism has nothing like that, hence what tests do you have to verify it is true or superstition?
        
        That’s why, briefly (!) I m not a pagan. Westerners may like to dabble in it, but the life of pagans in the third world and throughout history was, of its very nature nasty, brutish and short…and that was before the monotheists turned up to try and stamp it out! Sometimes by fair means, sometimes by foul…;) And because of their conception, the Industrial Revolution could never have originated in a pagan society…

        Yes, nature is , in part, red in tooth and claw, that’s a fact. But the Christian answer that God will restore nature to it’s “original goodness” is problematic from an observational pov, because nature has always been the way it is. There was no point in time in which nature was anything other than both creative and destructive. The idea in the bible that humans fell away from a good god and introduced a fallen nature into the universe as a result does not sit well with a universe that is billions upon billions of years old, that long predates the coming of human beings, and has always had a destructive aspect.
        
        Plus the destructive aspect, that part we perceive as being red in tooth and claw, is necessary for the universe to function at all. If their was no death for example, there would be no life, because death is necessary for life. In species terms no death would mean the planet would have long been over run as too much life tried to live in too little space. So the universe that gives us the sun also gives us black holes. The universe that gives us life can take it away. Christianity has a problem with this fact of nature. Paganism accepts it as natural and vital for harmony and balance.
        
        So, the Pagan gods, and other spirits and powers, reflect this. They can, individually, have both light and dark aspects. This to me reflects reality better than a transcendent god who intended everything to be sweetness and light, but somehow got it wrong, or allowed it to go wrong.

        I have done a lot of research on what we know about the old Pagan worship, mostly with regards to the Celts, and I would rather describe them in terms of both awe and respect. Other cultures may have been different, but I can’t speak to that. And that awe and respect is a reflection of the creative and destructive power of nature. And sometimes Christian worship can seem to have a cowering fear of a wrathful god.
        
        Hence pagan culture is inherently superstitious, anti-progress
        
        The ancient Egyptians or Romans could not be described as anti-progress. I’m not even sure the Celts could be. But progress is not always an unequivocal good. The Christian/Western science version of progress has given us nuclear weapons and environmental destruction. Progress without wisdom, especially a wisdom not grounded in a spiritual relation to, and respect for, the sacred Land, is dangerous to human well-being and the well being of the planet.

        Yes it is ambiguous, but that reflects reality better than abstract absolutes which cannot be proven one way or another. Mystery is inherent in being alive. Paganism is comfortable with mystery and ambiguity.

Everything else is conditional truth. So I feel no need to think in terms of absolute Truth vs absolute Untruth, or as you out it, superstition, or to worry about whether what I believe is Truth or not. Paganism is, too me, experiential, rather than an intellectual exercise in abstracts. My experiences of the sacred Land, spirits, ancestors and holy powers or gods, speak to me on a deep level that does not require or need intellectual affirmation.

  Well said. The central part of this issue that the media and other enablers forget is these detainees weren’t refugees. They paid people smugglers to get them on to Australian soil so they might jump the immigration queue on the basis of some unverifiable humanitarian grounds.

In New Zealand it’s not a left-right issue. The differences between National and Labour’s policies are insignificant, so there has really been no major change in policy from the last government. Shares drop due to profit taking. Dollar up as money from sales leaves the country. This up and down, mainly down will continue as money goes offshore. Petrol will rise quite a bit soon as forward contracts run out. Prices in the shops will hold till after Xmas as the goods have already been paid for and are arriving in the country. Come January, after the sales, prices will climb and climb. Unions will start calling for rises, strikes in time for the May school holidays.

Australia is not compelled to accept illegal economic migrants, and true refugees only have the “right” to land in the first country they come to. So for all those who tried to get a boat from Indonesia to Australia, they are no longer refugees that must be accepted.
    
    Australia is also able to reject people it finds not to be refugees. And none of those at Manus for example would qualify. What’s more any or all of them can leave Manus at Australia’s expense any time they chose, all they have to do is agree to go back to their country of origin. And they’ve been able to that from the day they arrived.
    
    These people are an insult and an impediment to true refugees, those fleeing persecution and hatred. As such, I can’t see why you and the left generally accept such bludging bastards and yet disdain those actually in need of asylum. Some sort of cognitive disorder I suspect.

      This whole issue has been captured by the idiot left (wonderful examples here) that have wrought disaster, extenso, to Europe thanks to panty-waist bureaucrats that have usurped European and some other nations’ elected representatives.
      
      As for our country, another point: The Peters/Ardern Regime can get stuffed. Peters is nothing but a lying, duplicitous fraud, with surrogates like W O H B who has continued peddle a line most likely fed to him by Peters and/or Henry. But I digress, albeit briefly.
      
      The US has long declined to sign up to all the bull shit International Courts and covenants because they purport to usurp the constitutional rights of US citizens. Moreover, the Congress would never approve of any such action. The Paris Climate crap is illustrative. Obama tried a sneaky Exec Order, but he had no constitutional authority to commit the US or spend monies on that bullshit.
      
      Sadly New Zealand does not have a written constitution, so the Peters/Ardern Regime peddles its anti Australia garbage. Sooner, rather than later, that bunch of idiots in the Beehive will get a bloody hard kick in the groin.

  But he continues to swallow the Peters/Henry line on Peters pension. That he has chosen to disagree with his main National caucus leaker, toxic, is but a smokescreen. The legal fishing matter will be fun to watch. Peters along with all his legal surrogates and other supporters are likely to handed their arse …..perhaps two or more years from now. And then Henry and the errant Solicitor might be required to explain whether they are acting pro-bono for Peters…or whether they initiated the fishing expedition on a fee for success basis. The claim by Peters’ solicitor that the Ministers were not acting in an official capacity, and that the “no surprises” policy (commo0n even for NGOs contracting with Government) does not apply is clearly specious. But the arrogant liar has no copunction about wasting Court time and incurring costs …. by others. It seems likely that costs will remain where they have fallen … or be awarded against Peters/Henry and their surrogates.
  But all that is months away, and before then look for action by the Crown and media to strike out the fishing game.

When the bus set off into traffic and jolted on the brakes, she almost fell. At that point she asked “Will anyone give me a seat?”, and someone – a woman of about her age – got up.

  I personally believe a man should stand on a bus to allow a pregnant woman to have a seat.
  
  I also believe that a person should get paid according to their contribution and not on the communist equal pay basis.
  
  I think it is polite to hold open a door if a woman is following one through. I have been scowled at and for doing so. Fully 75% of times I have held doors open for women, the reciprocal ‘thank you’ or some kind of acknowledgement of the courtesy is rudely absent from the recipient of said courtesy – I don’t bother any more.

Yesterday I accidentally tuned into Tonga vs the Kiwis in the league match in Hamilton.

I had forgotten how good rugby league is to watch. God it was exciting… the speed of the players and the sheer energy of the game!

It was great to see the kiwis’ haka answered by the Tongans too. If sport is going to have to be cursed with this silly dance whenever a NZ team is involved, at least it’s good to see the opposing team summon up the balls to respond in kind.

I was rooting for the kiwis… but it was gripping to see how Tonga turned the game around.

I’ve been looking for a table of up-to-date standings for all the teams to see how we’re doing, but I can’t seem to find the info online. Anybody know?

Let me see whether I’ve got this right.

We learned a few days ago that on the day before the September 23 general election, Winston Peters kick-started legal action against National cabinet ministers (including then prime minister Bill English), party officials, a senior public servant and two journalists over the leaking of his superannuation overpayment. He took this action without disclosing it to either the National or Labour parties.

Then, post-election, Peters entered into – indeed orchestrated – what were held out to be “good faith” negotiations with both parties on possible coalition arrangements.

Both parties believed they were in with a chance – in fact an equal chance – and Peters was happy to encourage this belief. It suited him to do so because that way, both Labour and National would be keen to do business with him.

But realistically, what chance was there of Peters going into coalition with National when he was simultaneously – apparently unbeknown to anyone but his lawyers – taking legal action against senior National ministers and officials?

What sort of hopelessly dysfunctional government would it have been if the deputy prime minister (let’s assume his appointment to that role would have been one of the conditions of any NZ First deal with National, as it was with Labour) was suing the prime minister?

No, it’s inconceivable.

The obvious conclusion, then, is that Peters kept quiet so he could play the parties along, spinning out the negotiations and extracting maximum concessions, when he must have known all along that he would go with Labour.

To put it another way, the negotiations appear to have been an elaborate charade. National was used as leverage, pure and simple.

If this was the case, National weren’t the only ones being played for suckers. Labour were deceived too. Ask yourself: what concessions did the Labour team make that they wouldn’t have considered had they known Peters intended to go with them regardless?

I’m not alone in thinking this. Veteran political editor Barry Soper, who gives the impression of being one of the few journalists on good terms with Peters, wrote: “Like all good gamblers, Peters kept a stony face, letting them [National] believe they were still in the game whereas in reality they’d been dealt out when the court papers were filed against them”.

They were playing blind, says Soper, and so was Labour. “If they’d known of the court papers they might not have been so generous”.

Now Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is left with little option but to play it all down by insisting it was just a “personal” matter between Peters and the people he’s pursuing. She says Peters gave her a “heads up”, although not until last week. All sorted, then; nothing to see here.

Of course Ardern has to maintain the line that this doesn’t affect the unity or stability of the coalition. To do otherwise would be to admit that her government was borne out of deception.

Other senior Labour figures, such as Phil Twyford, are also busily parroting the position that it’s a personal issue and therefore none of Labour’s business. Twyford went further, insisting that Peters negotiated in good faith. But seriously, how can Labour trust Peters after this? They appear to have been shafted before they even had their feet under the cabinet table. At the very least, they were misled by omission.

On Morning Report, political law expert Graeme Edgeler put a benign interpretation on Peters’ behaviour by suggesting he might have decided to proceed with legal action only after deciding to support Labour.

In other words he may have negotiated with National in genuine good faith, intending to shelve his legal action if they reached agreement. But if that were the case, why did his lawyers file papers in the Auckland High Court the day before the election? He would surely have stayed his hand while he waited to see how the post-election talks panned out.

In any case, surely the proper position for Peters to have taken at the outset of coalition talks would have been to disclose to both Labour and National that he had initiated, or was about to initiate, proceedings. That would truly have been a demonstration of good faith. But this is Peters we’re talking about. He follows his own rules.

I suppose some people might admire his mastery of the political dark arts (Soper seems to), but to me it just looks devious, manipulative and deceitful. And what a cute coincidence that Peters should have left the country to attend the Apec conference in Vietnam when the bomb went off, so that he was spared having to answer awkward questions. (I won’t comment on the irony of a foreign affairs minister who opposed the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement representing New Zealand at a meeting aimed at sealing the deal. But hey, who’s going to pass up a first-class flight and an opportunity to hob-nob with the big boys of world politics?)

Let’s allow that the leaking of Peters’ superannuation details was a political dirty trick, albeit a clumsy one, aimed at embarrassing him ahead of the election. But the secrecy of his plan to exact utu, and the likelihood that the coalition talks were skewed by it, can only add to misgivings about the integrity of the process by which the Labour-NZ First coalition was formed. It’s another affront to democracy and transparency.

There’s another issue here: the protection of journalists’ sources. Media freedom advocates are alarmed that the deputy prime minister should embark on a witch-hunt against journalists, demanding that they cough up phone and email records so that he can find out who leaked, and thus determine who to sue.

Journalists not being a greatly admired occupational group, this is unlikely to trigger an outpouring of public sympathy. But it needs to be pointed out that a likely consequence (if not the purpose) is that journalists will be discouraged from publishing stories likely to embarrass senior politicians, which is part of their function in a democracy. The result would be a less informed public. It’s the sort of menacing behaviour you’d expect from a bully like Vladimir Putin.

But while much has been made of the threat to media freedom, it should be treated as a secondary concern and a distraction from the real issue, which is the legitimacy of the government. That was already in doubt following the farcical coalition talks which resulted in Peters – a man who couldn’t even retain his own seat, and whose party was rejected by 93 percent of voters – being appointed to the second most powerful role in New Zealand politics. Alongside this latest scandal, the recent parliamentary gamesmanship over the appointment of the Speaker, which so excited the media, was a mere sideshow.

I managed to disqualify myself by saying that while Hollywood was not really “run” by anyone (it’s far too chaotic for that), if Jews were about 2.5 percent of the population and were about 60 percent of Hollywood, they might well be said to be extremely predominant in that sector.

That was far too logical and un-PC an answer, and I never heard from her again.

But Jews are a big part of my thoughts (as they are of every Jew’s thoughts). Plus, I live and struggle in Hollywood, so the combination intrigues me. What exactly is the role of the Jew in Hollywood? More to the point, what does it signify, if anything, if Jews have a big role? And, most interesting of all, why do we care?

First, it is extremely clear to anyone in Hollywood that Jews are, so to speak, “in charge” in Hollywood in a way that is not duplicated in any other large business, except maybe garments or scrap metal or folding boxes.

At mighty Paramount, the controlling stockholder is Sumner Redstone. Head of the studio is Jon Dolgen. Head of production is Sherry Lansing–all members of the tribe.

      It’s difficult for blog hosts to weed out multi-identity commentators. Source IP address’s don’t work as having multiple mobile connections or multiple VPNs active will defeat that check. DPF could demand identity verification of some kind, and in this instance I think that would be justified.

A new study from the UK about the so-called “wage gap”.

The Institute of Economic Affairs has shown that the so called pay gap between between men and women aged 22 to 39 is “negligible”.

It shows that in some cases women in that age group are better off by 0.8 per cent and at worst are worse off by 2.2 per cent.

The IEA noted that the gap widens in full time after women spend time off work to have children making them 9.1 per cent worse off.

However, women in part time jobs are better paid than men by 5.1 per cent.

I have just seen Jacinda Ardern speaking after the conference: she comes across as someone who is completely out of her depth in current company and who resorts to comments on irrelevant topics to maintain some semblance of credibility.
The conference is all about trade and she talks about climate change and rising sea levels.
Bring back Murray McCully.

The only thing that seems equal to the Media parties spin on the TPP negotiations is the determination of the Trolls to hijack every thread on KB. In the latter’s case ignorance is bliss for them and ignoring them is the remedy too many are unaware of.
It seems the TPP is back on again as we are again absorbing more lies from Parker regarding who was and who was not holding up the process. Returning now to what has morphed into something much more Labour friendly as it is rebranded the CPTPP. Interesting development considering that it stands for Comprehensive Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) agreement.

It would seem they favoured ambiguity over reality when we wonder how an agreement can be struck with 20 clauses being sidelined can this be considered “Comprehensive”? Naturally leading us to ask how that can be considered “Progressive”? It is likely that the eventual conclusion of this agreement when it comes will create more negative than positive results for NZ in future trade negotiations.

A seemingly Clayton’s FTA is only matched by our Clayton’s like PM who opts to feature Global Warming in her speech to those gathered to talk trade. Is this the Simpson factor coming into play or more like an episode of the Simpsons?
Media party to the rescue as they distract us with yet more spin as the Commie Chick returns to an earlier failure. A catch 22 situation where a win for her means a loss for NZ. The Manus Island boat people and the pending hard stare soon to be beamed on Turnbull. The only missed opportunity for her might be missing out on seeing real children in poverty during her visit to Manila.

Talking to a Federal Cop at the WA Airport.

Our new Govt has certainly stirred up a hornets nest with them wanting to bring the Manus Island guys to NZ. The ultimate aim would be for them to shift over to Aussie ASAP once they get admitted into the NZ system.

I was told that the inmates ( his word) are not nice people who are basically hard core angry young men who would not fit into a peaceful society. America has picked the suitable ones who they will eventually take and those left over are deemed just too dangerous.

The obvious question is why we are allowing undesirables who paid their way as boat people, into our country. These will take the place of genuine refugees.

My contact believes it will backfire on genuine NZ visitors to Aussie and there could be restrictions if it continues.

That scares me….

The Muslim propaganda machine is at work again, this time on interest in World War 1 because of centennial commemorations.

An article in the Guardian claims 2.5 million Muslims fought for the Allies in World War 1. It doesn’t mention that 2.8 million Muslim troops of the Ottoman Empire fought against the Allies.

The Guardian includes in the total of 2.5 million Muslims 35,000 Chinese. In all, 140,000 Chinese served as non-combatant labourers on the Western Front during and after World War 1. The Guardian figures suggests 25 per cent of them were Muslim, but the proportion of Muslims in the total population of China is less than 2 per cent.

The Guardian also says 1.3 million Muslims served in the Russian Army in World War 1. Linked to below is a source which puts the figure at around half a million. Russia mobilised a total of about 12.5 million men in World War 1.
