  Heard her pontificating about Jerusalem – was it not Bush, Clinton and Obama who said Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel – oh sorry Trump said it so that is different.
  There has not been any Arab peace in that area for 2000 plus years and it ain’t going to happen any time soon.
  Would have been better if we had abstained like Australia but no Big Gobby Commie Chick has to show her anti US teeth.

  The US is the largest funder of the UN and additionally spends $ billions around the world all sorts of largess mostly to those tinpot corrupt leaders who oppose him on this irrelevancy.

        Over the past week I have heard from three sources, one of which is not much good, that one must have sympathy for Winston. My old Mum got Altzheimers about five years before her death at age 89. It was so sad to see one whom one loved, particularly for her razor sharp mind, deteriorate. The word is that Winston is similarly deteriorating and he has my sympathy. It is unfair to mock people with that affliction.

        If Peters does have Altzheimers it is only going to end sadly for him. He should be quietly retired but that is a little difficult in that he is deputy PM. His mental deterioration must have been obvious for some time so I question those around him who didn’t stop him standing in the election. He is in a powerful public position and has not admitted to his illness, so being mocked is to be expected – it goes with holding elected public office.

    For what it’s worth, why is anyone bothering, when the United Nations is so fucking dumb?
    
    New Zealand’s vote against United States decision to move its Embassy in Israel is meaningless.
    As was last year’s (anniversary on the 24th) New Zealand Resolution 2334 equally meaningless.
    
    Why?
    Because New Zealand took the already rejected and withdrawn Egyptian draft resolution (worded with assistance from the UK and approved by the Palestinians) and added 13 paragraph numbers to the Egyptian original and retabled it and, with the collusion of the US abstaining, passed it.
    
    New Zealand’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Gerard van Bohemen, reveals, in his 9 March 2017 address to the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs –
    That resolution was someone else’s resolution that we took over the line. If it was our resolution the language would have been different. We wouldn’t have put it quite that way, but we were comfortable with it …
    I went to bed feeling deflated. It was nice to have a resolution … It would have been nicer if it had been our one.”
    
    Gerard van Bohemen admits what has not been acknowledged (to my knowledge) anywhere else from US UN Representative Nikki Haley to Winston Peters.
    
    Resolution 2334 has been soundly criticised, from “… a very bad resolution: it is lawless, ahistorical, unprincipled, unfair and counterproductive” – Trevor Norwitz, to 24 international law experts who gathered recently in the Hague to condemn it. But they do not acknowledge its origin.
    
    I have not expressed an opinion either way as to the right or wrong of the resolution itself, but would certainly question the right of one man, Murray McCully, to formulate New Zealand’s foreign policy single handedly.
    
    I would just ask Ardern why sovereign state New Zealand took the already rejected and withdrawn draft of sovereign state Egypt and passed it off in the UNSC as our comment on sovereign state Israel’s position with the Palestinians?
    
    But at the same time, what is the point, if the United Nations Security Council so little examines documents to not attest that they are the same, except for New Zealand adding 13 paragraph numbers?
    
    [ Surely some UN minion could have bunged both documents – Egyptian draft, and NZ Resolution 2334 – into Pages (Mac) and checked the word count on each, and then looked at the actual wording ]

  As the US Ambassador to the UN carefully and clearly spelt out, the US (correctly) will be noticing who voted for what in this instance.
  
  I see that NZ voted to censure the USA for doing something which is the USA’s ‘private’ business.
  
  Stupidity, thy name is Jacinda Adern; she simply cannot help herself, and this is not going to be in NZ’s favour in more ways than she can ever, ever know or even imagine…
  
  But hey, got to signal to all the other ‘Anti American’ states that you’re one of them don’t you? Reality and discretion don’t matter; ‘ideology’ is all.
  
  (And should the Americans at some future date decide that her passport is ‘unwelcome’ (as they are quite entitled to do), it will, of course, be entirely THEIR fault won’t it, never hers…)

    As a preliminary comment, let it be noted that nations such as Australia, Canada and Mexico chose to abstain. But silly 4.6 Million NZ joined the panty waist chorus of condemnation of a decision that three previous US Presidents took, but failed to implement. The vast majority of the 128 nations voting “yes” are piddly arse (us included), while 35 nations abstained, 21 did not attend, and 9 (ni9ne) voted against.
    So NOT the overwhelming condemnation the left was predicting.
    
    So we really are dumb lock- knee jerks yet again.
    
    However take note of what I posted late last night
    and ponder whether our stance will have unintended adverse cosequences ….

    Right now the US of A contributes 22 % of the cost of all UN activities and. in addition, makes aid grants to many nations for development. The UN Gen Assemb vote is expected to pass by about 190 to four (4). The word that is being passed now from Washington is that if these knee jerk opposition positions do NOT stop then the automatic US 22 % will. It will in future be a fixed $ and auditable sum… and not a dollar more.
    S0 Peters/ Ardern/McCully/MFAT’s “principled” independent foreign policy will cost NZ a lot, lot, more – money that is needed for domestic projects.
    Those MFAT panty waists should be giving Peters and Ardern the facts… and the number 1 fact is that Trump/Pence/Tillerson will not pony up dollars (like Obama did) that add to their deficit. Those piddly arse nations ( 0h, about 150 of them) will have to pay up. Of course UN admin etc. spending will take a hit. What a pity !

    I don’t like the resolution either, but there is one large segment of US citizens who might feel warm and fuzzy towards NZ now and give us some tourism: expect to bump into more Clinton voters at tourist spots.

      True, and for many such supporters to settle here, then complain bitterly when they aren’t accorded the adoration that they believe they deserve for being ‘Liberal, Free-thinking Americans’ who have ‘deigned’ to settle in a ‘liddle country way down in the south pacific’ and upon-which they have bestowed their beneficence. They will also proceed to tell us poor ignorant Kiwi’s how great thing are back in the good ol USA, how we can correct our very evident national failings to make New Zild just like things were ‘back in the good ol USA’ before they left (because it was just SO good), and then become involved in the alternative lifestyle movement so-beloved of the Californian culture from which most of them come.
      
      Noticeably, they will NEVER revoke their US Citizenship!! In that regard such individuals become extremely defensive should such a suggestion dare to be made; evidently even amongst trendy ‘Democrats’, ‘liberalism’ is still subservient to patriotism
      
      It’s nothing new, just the latest wave of ‘Californian’ liberals to wash up onto our shores, and the process and reasons are almost so stereo-typed that they can be predicted without effort.
      
      It’s interesting (and sad), to watch, especially when the new-comers get up Kiwi noses by trying to ram their pious notions about ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ onto a society which practices a form of democracy and government about which they know little and care less, and which they (the ‘Americans’ see as manifestly inferior to their own). When Kiwi’s inevitably tell them to get stuffed (and we are actually very, very tolerant in that regard), such individuals find that they are increasingly- isolated as a result, yet simply do not see that they might actually be the cause the problem.
      
      Sounds a bit like HRC doesn’t it?

    Nothing will happen to New Zealand, the reason being that the bulk of the EU also voted for the resolution. Which I must say rather surprised me. I thought most of them, but especially Germany, would have abstained.
    
    But because the majority of the EU voted for it, the issue will blow over, at least for us, the EU and for Japan.
    
    But not for the PLA. On top of the snub of VP Pence by Abbas, they also organised the resolution along with Turkey. I reckon the US will cut the PLA funding.
    
    Will Turkey step in to take up the funding slack? Maybe since their President has become very anti US (and Israel) since the attempted coup, which he believes was fostered by the US.
    
    This is likely to be the biggest outcome of this whole issue. A complete breakdown of Turkish US relations. It would not surprise me if Turkey gives notice to withdraw from NATO, even though that would be an extreme step.

      Wayne mate, the problem is that only 2/3 weeks ago US bent over backwards to appease Turkey and stop arming the Kurds. The Kurds did some 95% of the ground fighting against ISIS and for long stretches 100% of the fighting (including battalions of girls). If the west could have created another Israel in the middle east it would have changed everything. But no, the alliance with Turkey forbade it.

Well, predictably, the media has gone into spin mode regarding the attack in Melbourne. Is is not a terror attack (someone randomly mows down 19 people but it’s ok folks it’s not ‘terror’), the guy is an Aussie, he has a history of mental illness, of drugs, of minor infringements.

But we mustn’t mention the missing word, must we. We don’t want to be ideologically profiling, do we.

We all know he is a Muslim, just like all the other lone wolf, mentally ill blokes who have committed similar attacks in other parts of the world.

Jacinda, revoke the invitation to take the 150 mentally ill guys from Manus Island, will you please. We don’t want incidents like this here in NZ!

  Nukuleka-Unfortunately you are right on the money. What we know is that a man of Afghan descent who is an Australian citizen deliberately mowed down with his vehicle many pedestrians. Authorities say that he is a man with a history of mental illness and this is no way related to a terrorist attack.
  
  We are being lied to! The man is obviously a Muslim and obviously this is a terrorist attack. Did he suddenly become mentally ill and suddenly decide to use the very same tactic that Isis inspired fighters have used for the last 2 years now?
  
  The problem is political correctness and the desire to soft pedal Muslim terrorism. They just don’t want to admit that it is Muslims and that it is terrorism.
  
  If we allow more Muslims to come into New Zealand we will get this as well. And I can guarantee that our authorities will be just as soft and just as reluctant to take any action and just as reluctant to label it terrorism.
  
  The Australian government needs to look at this whole situation. They need to look at should they revoke this person’s citizenship and send him and his family back to Afghanistan? They need to look at the mosque he was going to and whether that was instrumental in his radicalisation? And if so they should shut down that mosque and deport its leaders.
  
  Australians need to harden up and stop this Muslim menace! And we need to harden up and stop it before it becomes a Muslim menace. Don’t bring in any more Muslims and we will not have any terrorist attacks like this in our country.

      Tolerance and non-discrimination are going: e.g. the Cologne mayor and Malmo Police telling women how to behave to keep safe from attackers. e.g. the Titusville ‘hate crime’ getting a man 15 years in prison – just for a piece of bacon left in a mosque.
      
      Freedom of thought and freedom of speech are going: e.g. Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller are no longer allowed into the UK. E.g. new German Network Enforcement Law, getting sites like Facebook to remove anything people whine might be ‘hate speech’, without any court checking if it even is ‘hate speech’ (bollocks though that concept is anyway).
      
      Wait, Albert Ross, sites like this will be watched, Comrade Taxinda will establish some of those lovely European ‘hate speech’ laws and there will be a knock on the door for some of us for daring to criticize the islamic ideology.
      
      I will state here, again, that the reason I criticize it is because I want every person, men, women, hetero, LGBT, non-believers and muslims to have *equal rights*. But islamists want a theocracy and sharia law, that does not allow equality of all people.
      
      Sure, there are many decent muslims who don’t want a theocracy. Nice, but at the unfortunate disadvantage of having a war lord as their prophet who did give some violent instructions. Just one example: sura 4:34: if you fear disobedience from your wife, beat her.
      
      The reason European governments and now, it seems, the Australian one are so hard on critics of islam is because they are shit scared of riots and ‘lone wolf’ attacks.

A Christmas treat for the Ho’s and Joes at Red Radio – Radio NZ. Our seasonal thoughts are with the pakeha slaves and Maori interns at the RNZ pa, where the language is now fully macronised NZ Pidgin.

Our treat: Radio NZ staff can work out who gets paid more than others. Radio NZ’s 2016-2017 annual report at last has been released. (Annual reports of stock exchange listed companies and State owned companies list numbers of more highly paid staff in wage bands.)

The report shows that for the year ended June 30, 40 Radio NZ staff were paid $100,000 or more. Top salary of $430,000 was paid to one person, presumably chief executive Paul Thompson.

Here’s the list of top salaries:

Radio NZ during the year received $35 million direct funding from the Crown. Staff will be working out identities of the other nine staff who were paid more than $160,000 for the year.

The annual report’s worth downloading (link below). The broadcaster’s Maorification strategy is laid out on page 48. It includes staff and management Maori language training, journalistic internships for Maori, broadcasting of bulletins from the Maori tribal radio network, and more Maori language, Maori culture, and Maori news on the Radio NZ web site.

What a coup was Labour Minister Wily Willie Jackson’s partnership deal between Radio NZ and the network of tribal radio stations. He has virtually negotiated a Maori takeover of Radio NZ. What was the National Coalition’s Minister of Broadcasting doing when this deal was forged? Wily Willie is Minister of Employment and Associate Minister of Maori Development in the Labour Coalition’s bloated Cabinet.

Under the Companies Act, annual reports have to be available to shareholders within five months of balance date. This deadline would have been November 30 in Radio NZ’s case. Could it possibly be that the late release was to slip it through in final days of the Parliamentary session and while other eyes were diverted to Christmas parties? Surely not.

  Without looking it up I believe it is Melissa Lee. I’ve nothing against her personally but just because she had a tv producers background(?) doesn’t mean that made her a good Minister or now Opposition spokesperson. Never heard a thing from her over the years.
  
  FFS National, put someone in the broadcasting role that understands the politics of broadcasting (Radio NZ/TVNZ etc) and someone who has some actual ideas on how to build a decent public broadcasting service (for as long as it is taxpayer funded etc). Otherwise the pinkos at Radio NZ/TVNZ etc, will scheme and undermine National whilst it perceives they do nothing etc.
  
  National has someone who is an expert in this area, who has gravitas and who probably could come up with a vision and set the expectations for a neutral broadcasting service. But that person has been tasked to do feelz good environmental roles, what a wasted opportunity over the last 2 parliamentary terms!

While it is a grave and delication situation in which their country is being threatened.. Obviously they are preparing thier options to ensure their safety.. Nothing in this article justifies the pic of the America preparing to strike headline -. And the Telegraph doesn’t have it on their front page as news either. Inflammatory dangerous journalism pushing a narrative. Forecast that each year a million “migrants” from Africa and the Middle East will pour into Europe by the year 2100, say Global Warming folk.

I can’t recall seeing anything on Trump’s tax cuts victory,….

Caught a snippet of RNZ while driving and they had a clip from …. drum roll…. Bernie Sanders, talking about the tax bill. What amused me was that this was the second time in as many days that they had used Bernie as the go-to audio clip on the subject.

Admittedly going to Democrats like Pelosi might have been embarrassing as she basically had a melt-down, but I know there were Democrat Senators and members of Congress who made cogent criticisms of the bill, who could have been used instead. But no: it’s RNZ National, so the choice was Bernie lets-honeymoon-in-the-USSR Sanders. Tells you everything you need to know about RNZ’s staff.

There was a major blow-up on Twitter last night over the actions of a member of Jacinda Ardern’s Cabinet pretty clearly breaching the Cabinet Manual.

Clare Curran tweeted suggesting that the Police had bowed to political pressure in deciding not to prosecute Todd Barclay. Curran’s tweet read thus:

Who instructed Baird not to recommend prosecution?

This is a massive error of judgment by Curran. Remember the furore when Maurice Williamson was alleged to have intervened in a police investigation? He was sacked, for what was described at the time as an error of judgment.

Curran’s gaffe however is even worse; she has effectively accused the Police of being politically influenced in an active investigation, which as Whaleoil notes in the post below, could be re-opened at any time. WO also has the relevant passage from the Cabinet Manual, which makes it absolutely clear that a Minister does “not comment or involve themselves in the investigation of an offence or the decision as to whether a person should be prosecuted”.

I have been a bit confused as to why Trump would decide to recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel. It seemed strange that Trump as the great deal maker would give away the big bargaining chip for use with Israel if he was serious about negotiating any sort of Israeli Palestine agreement and middle east peace.

It had to be for domestic reasons and something to do with the evangelical vote.

Two contrasts in MSM journalists.

First up is Ross Douthat, one of the “right-wingers” allowed a kennel at the New York Times, A War Trump Won. Douthat admits that he expected Trump’s Foreign Policy to be a “Trumpian Disaster”, but that it has not turned out that way:

the Trump administration’s approach to the Middle East has been moderately successful, and indeed close to what I would have hoped for from a normal Republican president following a realist-internationalist course.

He also notes that Trump has been given no credit for the victory against ISIS:

Its defeat was begun under Obama, and the hardest fighting has been done by Iraqis — but this was an American war too, and we succeeded without massive infusions of ground troops, without accidentally getting into a war with Russia, and without inspiring a huge wave of terrorism in the West.

Douthat thinks this is largely due to journalists like him who can’t let go of their preconceptions, but also because the war turned out as niether US Left or Right expected:

the defeat of the Islamic State didn’t happen the way many foreign policy hawks envisioned, because it didn’t require also going to war with Bashar al-Assad or creating a new Syrian opposition army. At the same time, it happened more easily than intervention skeptics feared — so there isn’t a pundit chorus, right or left, ready to claim vindication in the victory.

So kudos to Douthat for not being an idiot. He still thinks little of Trump but will give credit where credit is due – although I note he does not dig into other interviews that have been conducted with US and Iraqi military who talked of Trump changing the ROE’s to actually allowing real fighting and victories to happen – instead of having a JAG peering over your shoulder on every trigger pull.

Next up is the opposite case: Jennifer Rubin, the “right-winger” at the WaPo. Her approach gets dismantled in this National Review piece which simply points out the endless 180’s she’s done on issues, simply because of Trump. Rarely have I seen a reporter so dismembered:

The illustrations are endless. In two years, Rubin has gone from arguing that the “ludicrous,” “absurd” Iran deal “has to go” — and, indeed, that John Kasich was a fool for contending otherwise – to praising those who believe it must remain in place as “reasonable” “experts,” and predicting that even to decertify would put “American credibility” at “risk.” In 2015, she wrote that “if you examine the Iran deal in any detail, you will be horrified as to what is in there.” In 2017, she characterizes this position as the “emotional” “temper tantrum” of an “unhinged president.”

Trump Derangement Syndrome in a nutshell, all the quoted words have links in themselves but it’s worth reading the whole piece.

“Auckland Council needs to be more proactive about missing storm drain covers after the death a south Auckland teen in June, according to a local MP.
Violet Tupou, 17, who is believed to have been autistic, was found dead in a road catchpit on Royalpark Place in Favona, Mangere, south Auckland.
Mangere MP, Labour’s Aupito William Sio, said one death due to a missing drain cover was one too many”.

      Buying backlinks isn’t part of a conspiracy, it is actually a well known way to boost SEO (unless google finds out). My point is based on the frequency and number of backlinks you post here, the value-add on the standard side of the ledger must be adding up.
      It provides so little of value to KB readers and most of them it seems (as you can see from the other comments) dont care.
      Btw, it also hurts DPF’s SEO when you post the same thing to more than 1 blog. The new rank algorithm is strongly weighted in favour of uniqueness, so it’s pretty well known that you try to avoid having the same text appear anywhere other than your site. For example, wholesalers tell distributors and retailers not to copy product descriptions word for word or it affects everyone. I thought you’d know all this stuff.
      IMO (reiterated), if I was DPF I’d have these in my TOS (no backlinks to other blogs, and no cross-posting) in order to align better with the new search algorithms. In the absence of that, I think it’s bad form to do it anyway, that’s all.

The email rorts are flooding in during the Christmas shopping season. Time for extra caution and time for special care to avoid clicking on email reply links that take you to trap sites.

Today I received a bogus email, with the word “Paypal” emblazoned in the corner and alerting me to a transaction for “HK$1,017 to EBAY HONG KONG INC LIMITED” (the capitals are the crooks’) and if I wanted to cancel it, then click on the bait-trap link.

Smart trickery by this fraudster: if you want to avoid being pinged for almost 200 NZ dollars click on the reply link.

The crooks often make at least one error that is a danger signal – in addition to the fraudulent reply address. Here they have used both “Inc” and “Ltd,” which don’t go together in titles of companies in countries with a British legal tradition, such as Hong Kong. For us, it’s either “Inc” or “Ltd”, but not both.

  For goodness sake he just didn’t get out of the way fast enough. I am sure he thought that it was all worth it, as no permanent injury.
  The police do not need his co-operation to lay a charge.
  The Principal probably has to make a stand, you know health and safety, she has now done her bit and it is up to the powers that be to mete out what should (with luck) be something cautionary.

If I was the commie chic I would be very worried that so many people have an intense dislike for her. A new incoming Govt usually gets a free ride as punters evaluate their new policies.

In addition a new PM usually breaths through their nose for the first 6 months. During this time they plan their policies.
