      What’s the bet he antagonises the Greens, Labour’s hard-core Left and upsets them enough that Jacinda has to race back from her parental leave to take charge again?
      
      Actually you are right, despite all this Jacinda will still be too nice to “Dear Uncle Winston” and let him off the hook, so yeah will likely be 2019 rather than later in 2018 when Labour finally blows its fuse!

  That’s because he can’t/doesn’t want to talk about transport, given the cornerstone funding model of his transport plan has just been rejected by Aucklanders for a second time.
  
  Causes problems for both him & Twitford. He can’t press ahead & go to the polls next year with a rejected policy. So, it means Twitford will have to stump up more or drop some of the projects – goodbye tram to West Auckland & SkyPath.

    Yes. Completing the People’s Panel survey on transport yesterday, I suggested financing transport by cutting non-core services such as ATEED and spending less on cycle ways and trams – probably not ACC’s preferred answers.
    
    Please, National Party, can we have an organised, fiscally conservative, centre-right slate for the next council elections and country-wide legislation which restricts councils to clearly defined core business.
    
    The survey also asked for a bunch of personal details, presumably to weight the results in accordance with Auckland’s demographics, so I recorded my ethnicity as Ratepayer.

It is the month of June, in the village of Putaururu. It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted. It is tough times, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit. Suddenly, a rich tourist comes to town. He enters the only hotel, lays a 100 dollar note on the reception counter, and goes to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one. The hotel proprietor takes the 100 dollar note and runs to pay his debt to the butcher. The Butcher takes the 100 dollar note, and runs to pay his debt to the pig farmerer. The pig farmrer takes the 100 dollar note, and runs to pay his debt to the supplier of his feed and fuel. The supplier of feed and fuel takes the 100 dollar note and runs to pay his debt to the town prostitute that in these hard times, gave her services on credit. The prostitute runs to the hotel, and pays off her debt with the 100 dollar note to the hotel proprietor to pay for the rooms that she rented when she brought her clients there. The hotel proprietor then lays the 100 dollar note back on the counter so that the rich tourist will not suspect anything. At that moment, the rich tourist comes down after inspecting the rooms, and takes his 100 dollar note, after saying that he did not like any of the rooms, and leaves town. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now without debt, and looks to the future with a lot of optimism. And that is how a capitalist economy works.

  No wonder the tourist wanted his Lord Rutherford back. 65 years ago that was one of the flashest provincial town pubs in the country. Betty Windsor and Phil the Greek had lunch there in late 1953. Now it is an unseemly hovel.
  What with differing marginal tax rates, student loan debts, Working For Families tax credit abatements, Accommodation Supplement abatements, Goods & Services Tax, Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax and child support liabilities it is too hard to calculate how much Grant Robertson missed out on that floating $100 note.

    I had relatives who farmed just out of Putaruru in the 1960’s at at that time the town was a thriving rural service town. It is one of many towns in rural New Zealand that felt the most severe pain of Rogernomics, and has never really recovered.

  Yes Holy, but is it the black economy or the declared economy? If it is the latter, agents of Robbo & Stewie (not so bright) Nash will ride into town & want their 20% to 33% cut called PAYE. Plus the bank manager will take his cut for any money loaned. So, unfortunately by the time the hotel Kepler goes to put the Rutherford back on the counter, there might be a chance it’ll be a kiwi, kotoku or a Hillary.
  
  That sadly, is how the 21st Century economy works.

  Oirish pig farmers’ pig swallowed three of his one pound notes ( pre Euro joke).
  Takes it to the bank and joins the queue . While waiting he gives the pig a sip of whiskey , hits it once on the back with his stick and the pig burps up out a pound note. Business man in the queue offers him 100 pound for the animal but the farmer declines. Gives the pig another sip , another strike and out comes another note. Businessman says , 500 for the pig. Farmer declines. Farmer gives the pig a third sip , a third strike and out pops another note. Businessman very agitated says Last offer 1000 pounds for the pig, and the farmer says , Deal. He banks his 3 quid and goes home . The businessman heads off happy with his money spewing pig.
  
  Next morning farmer reading his paper, headline says ” Drunken Pig Found Beaten to Death”.

        What the story didn’t say was how much the cost price of the service sold was, from which you can derive the margin. The $100 = the selling price only & so will include any profit in the transaction price.

  One of the best you tube videos I have watched recently is of a cop chasing a fleeing drug dealer in Brazil. The drug dealer is getting away. A helicopter comes up with a sniper aboard and take shots at the ute and kills the dealer. That’s the way all fleeing drug dealers should be dealt with.

Every time i hear a grubby wee man called Barely Sober on the radio commenting on politics. Sober is employed by the Australian owned NZME which also publishes a so called daily newspaper called Herald. Both of them a bloody disgrace.
Surely there must be someone better than him to comment on NZ politics.
Sober comes across as a proper little ratbag Fifth Columnist forever supporting 100% the Peters selected “Coalition of Corruption and Chaos”.
Wonder does he pay secondary tax for his moonlighting ,as he strokes the ego of his piss head mate Peters.
Heard even two of his fellow work mates challenge him yesterday on his pathetic comments on small business.Not forgetting his support for the ex Trade Union anti business blood sucker MP from Palmerston North with double barrelled hyphenated name.
Also have noticed when he come on the Larry show at night he seems to run rings around “Larry” and turns it into the “Barry” show at that time.Comes over like Larry has been gazumped,by the sneaky wee Fifth Columnist.

Indonesian Muslim terrorist attacks on Indonesian churches has not got the coverage it deserves. In a new low for Muslim terrorism the parents used their own children, including young daughters, 9 & 12,to blow themselves up and kill as many Christians as possible.

If you ever think all religions are the same then this should give you pause. In Islam Allah sends out your sons (& daughters) to die for him. In Christianity God sent out his son to die for you. That’s a really big difference!

  About fifteen years ago I went to work in Jakarta for a couple of months. Most of the people in the office were Muslim, but there were also a good number of Catholics and everyday a cfowd of us went off for lunch together, except Friday when the Muslims wents to their mosque and the Catholics to church.
  Everyone got on well together. I asked where were all the radicals and was told out in the countryside where the kids were educated in madrasses and had the bug put in their head.
  About a year previously one of the women in the office had had her house in Chinatown burned down by a mob, not for any religious reason, but as part of an anti Chinese fervour that had swept through some countries in the region, particularly Indonesia as I recall.

  I agree although the world doesn’t know enough about discernment to give it the ‘coverage’ you desire. They’ll focus on ‘Muslims’ rather than ‘psychopaths’.
  
  It’s true of all people, everywhere – Love involves the ‘sacrifice’ and ‘death’ of self for the sake of others. Nowhere is this more apparent than in true parenthood – which is the example of Christ on the Cross.
  
  Evil – more usually indifference than hatred – requires the literal sacrifice and death of ‘other’ for the sake of self. This ‘family’, or the parents, were glory seeking for themselves and their god (not necessarily the one shared by all other Muslims).
  
  It never has a good outcome, whatever the identity doing it. It’s just universal evil.

I wasn’t really sure about the decision when Simon Bridges was first appointed. But I’m really liking him more and more as time goes on. I liked the video sent out by national about him. And then this morning the headline is Bridges getting stuck into labour. Early days, but I think he could be a winner.

I have a real love/hate relationship with Dancing with the Stars – sometimes I avoid it like the plague; other time I watch it, and this is one of those times.

Last night was the most interesting for a while. How anyone could keep the bumbling Zac Franich in and vote Naz out defies belief. It certainly isn’t about dancing, Naz being one of the best dancers in it. I also felt horribly sorry for Shaye, voted out twice in a row through no fault of his.

But Steve Braunias can’t figure out why David Seymour got votes. Besides the fact that he does work hard (and he’s much better than Zac), those clever responses (also true) about Jacinda to Dai would have won him votes all on their own – certainly did from me. Dai was beaten at his own game. Clearly, they’ve incited hatred in Steve Braunias.

Marama Davidson has been an eye-opener. I’ve never liked her – the hatred for ‘whites’ oozing out of her every pore on every occasion. Heaven alone knows why she agreed to be on the show. Venom and spite continued to be apparent last week, as was her refusal to work ‘with’ anyone to learn/perform a dance or let her partner ‘lead’. It goes without saying that Maori the country over will vote for her on principle. And this time we also had the ‘Maori King-to-be’ – of the Waikato anyway – trying to look suitably dignified.

But this time, it finally became clear that Marama Davidson has an elegant woman inside her. The gown and the music were inspired. They would have been more inspired without more of her partisan comments.

What also became apparent is that her normally ‘feral’ nature is purely a lack of self-esteem. She’s never believed she can compete on equal terms with ‘other’ than Maori. Give her ‘Maoridom’ and it acts like a rabbits-foot to the superstitious – it’s the only way she can act like a real person /woman.

I confess, I now feel sorry for her and all those like her, who have narrowed their humanity and/or ability to explore and reach their potential to one single facet of their existence and without which they can’t wholly function. A lot of ‘minority’ identities are the same.

Turns out it isn’t being ‘feral’; it’s being absolutely despairing and desperate. Same message though I suppose – something my mother used to say: those who KNOW they’re ‘okay’, really don’t need to spend their every second trying to prove it, especially by putting others down.
