Cynric Temple Camp played a huge part in launching the decades of nonsense hanging like an albatross round the necks of the police prosecutors and judiciary in the Lundy case.

He recently wrote a book in which he reflected on the murder of Hugh Lynch, owner of the Junction Motel in Sanson.

“Defence injuries are always important in murders. They are invaluable in forensic pathology and are favoured by police, pathologists and lawyers alike. The police are keen on them because they are a strong indication that this is indeed a murder, and quite commonly where a victim has fought for their life, bits of skin or fragments of clothing torn frantically from the murderer may lie beneath the fingernails.”

I wonder what Cynric thinks about the fingernail evidence in the Lundy case.

We know what Mark Cooper, Helen Winkelmann and Raynor Asher think because Cooper wrote

“[358] All of these matters must have been rejected by the jury as not raising a
reasonable doubt about Mr Lundy’s guilt. None of them are particularly cogent as an
indicator of another person being responsible for the crime. In our own view, they do
not raise a credible basis on which we could go behind the implications of
the CNS tissue and DNA found on Mr Lundy’s shirt.
[359] With particular reference to the fingernail scrapings we note that the analysis,
carried out by the Crown’s witness Ms Heidi Baker, involved what is called “Y-STR
DNA testing”. Ms Baker described this as “highly sensitive” with the consequence
that it is not always possible to determine when any DNA was deposited or how it was
deposited, or what its source was: fluid, blood, or another tissue such as skin.
Ms Baker observed:

… it’s very important to consider what legitimate opportunities people may
have had to transfer their DNA to those samples because it is such a highly
sensitive technique and will detect incredibly low levels of DNA.
She gave as an example that the DNA transfer could be effected by a simple
handshake.
[360] In the case of Amber, the right fingernail scrapings showed there was DNA
from at least two and possibly more unrelated males in this sample. In the case of Mrs
Lundy scrapings from her left fingernail indicated there was DNA from at least one
and possibly more males in the sample. The DNA was in very small amounts, possibly
the result of scratching but possibly also the result of normal day to day contact. We
do not consider the evidence about the finger nail scrapings to be of significance to
the outcome of the case.”

Or maybe a reminder ,that the day Foxy Peters give her the PMs job she leapt into a Government Limo and made a beeline to the trade union gang CTU.     * shut down charter schools
    * set up a state housing scheme for people earning over $150k a year
    * create new positions for your mates to earn $400k salaries
    * provide foreign criminals with residency to cause mayhem among the citizens.
    * divert billions into stupid “make work” programmes that nobody wants to work in.
    * shut down a thriving gas & oil industry, threatening thousands of jobs and driving up energy costs for the most vulnerable.
    * cover up for sexual assaults
    
    I better stop now before I need blood pressure meds.

        It’s a great yarn. Jim Bolger fires Peters from the National Cabinet in 1991, and after the 1996 election Bolger and Peters form a coalition with Peters deputy PM. When Shipley takes over as PM, the coalition ends and Peters is out.
        
        The problem left for NZ, and the country, is where is the potential coalition party for a National-led Government? ACT doesn’t cut the mustard, and for many people the Maori Party, even if resuscitated, would be a step too far.

      Right RP but while we see all of her utterances on the International stage the SLG her PR team know every new audience needs a new message buoyed by also knowing you can fool some of the people all of the time. In keeping with COL practice that was the only part of that famous quote they saw in their file. Her funniest line on BBC was in closing saying not to resort to using blame? Must have got that one from the old drunk who begged not to blamed him for dark days ahead as her crown slipped down over her ears. Obviously now more “fitting” on her swollen head.

Seems there’s quite a bit more on the trees bungle according to RNZ.

The trees were ordered before Ngāti Hine struck a deal with the Crown.
The deal with Ngāti Hine was signed on 31 May.
But the trees were ordered in February after MPI scrambled to guess how many trees it would need without knowing how much land would be available. They believed they had ‘x’ number of hectares available.

Kevin Strawbridge, owner of Northland Forest Nursery said “It’s a massive blow to the company that entered into the contract.”

I wonder if Mr Jones will be liable in paying compensation out of his $3 billion bank account.

Every news bulletin from RNZ is an exercise in pc indoctrination with its obligatory Maori story, women’s rights story, social justice story, anti Trump story, social grievance story… It is a travesty and mockery of what a true news organisation ought to be. And the taxpayer forks out for this?

  As a white male I choose to ignore all other groups. I will not try to force empathy about other peoples plights any more, because they have no respect for my group.

Sounds like Our laws are made to favour criminals as the Lawyers are all voicing their opinion on the drug smuggler that was given residency by our inept Immigration Minister. The Majority of those having their say are saying the Law can not be reversed so again just like the fat kraut we will be using taxpayers money for years to get rid of him.

    We went to a very interesting Q&A with Simon Bridges yesterday. He covered any topic that anyone asked him, spoke informatively, clearly and on top of that he has a very good sense of humour. He covered immigration, Super City, mulching, JLR, Galloway, healthcare etc. I came away with the feeling that NZ will be in very good hands with the new line up of Nats.
    
    He is way better than I thought he would be (although I did like him before that). My faith and over 250 people who attended all came away very impressed.
    
    Paul Goldsmith, Simon O’Connor and that lovely Indian fellow (I can’t write his name) also attended – all seemed very good quality candidates. Unfortunately our media never let us see the real Simon.

The government has announced they will be re-entering Pike River. This is a pointless and foolish exercise, a needless risk of life and waste of money.

My big problem with re-entering Pike River is the simple question – why?

The government claims the mine can be re-entered safely. But safety is never an absolute. It’s always a trade-off of what level of risk is acceptable balanced against what is to be gained. And in this case there is absolutely nothing to be gained. Given the conditions in the mine and the amount of time that has passed, there will be no recognizable remains to find. With apologies for being insensitive, it’s only a question of exactly how many bone fragments are left to find. It’s not like there is any doubt as to the fate of the unfortunate men in the mine that day. We already know pretty much exactly what happened and where their bodies lie. The mine should be sealed off, a simple respectful monument placed, and the site otherwise left alone.

I’m also concerned the police statement “not ruling out the possibility of manslaughter charges” has the very distinct whiff of being a witch-hunt. A couple of the Pike River families and some Labour MPs seem to have already decided that Peter Whittall is guilty. And they’re damn well going to keep re-investigating over and over until they get the conclusion they want.

      4. move into the nitrogen enriched space
      5. Build a new containment wall 40m in
      My guess, at least 2 months
      Q: What do all these workers breath, while in this Nitrogen atmosphere?
      Q: What is the estimated number of hours that each worker can spend like this?
      Q; What are the space constraints? ie how many workers can work safely in this space?

  Unless the entire inaccessible workings beyond the rockfall can be examined, is it possible to claim any fault they may find, to be the definitive cause of the explosion – like an electrical short in the drift conveyor belt (already set-up as “suspect”) – when the initial fault may have been in the continuous miner, one of the pieces of equipment furtherest beyond the rockfall?
  
  Unless you can examine the entire “crime scene”, the evidence and anything it “proves” will be as incomplete as a Government decision-maker not reading the entire report he was given.

    Regardless of how far they can get into the mine, I don’t see how physical evidence is relevant to corporate manslaughter charges.
    
    Peter Whittall’s involvement was strictly at a managerial level, several layers separated from the mine itself. Forensic details from the mine could provide context, but they tell us nothing about the key part of a corporate manslaughter charge – what Whittall knew and what instructions he issued. For Whitall to be culpable it would need to be proven that decisions he made directly led to the disaster, and that he was aware of this risk beforehand. The case would be built on examining corporate records (emails, minutes of meetings, etc.) and interviewing Pike River employees. Not sifting through ash to find exactly where the first spark occured.

  1. The Board of Solid Energy were negligent of not having the required oversight of the CEO and ensuring appropriate H&S processes and procedures were in place.
  
  2. The CEO was negligent of not having the required oversight of the senior management and ensuring appropriate H&S processes and procedures where put in place.
  
  3. The EPMU was negligent for not ensuring their members were protected by appropriate H&S processes and procedures.
  
  4. The Labour Department were negligent for not having sufficient Mine Inspectors to ensure PR was a safe working place.
  
  Seems to me there are enough people involved to ensure the issues are never dealt with many arses are covered.

  I heard Bernie Monk on RNZ yesterday saying that as far as he is concerned the intention is to go beyond the drift.
  Bernie also said the objective is to collect evidence for a manslaughter prosecution. He really is a dog with a bone, and to coin another pun, won’t let sleeping dogs lay.
  Also on TVNZ news last night Tony Kokshoorn was full of praise for the coalition government for undertaking the re entry of the mine. Tony stressed that this re entry was consistent with Coaster’s belief that retrieving the deceased from mine accidents must be attempted.
  To both Bernice and Tony, the cost of the re entry was irrelevant.

  I’m sick of hearing about it as well.
  I was following it from the early days circa 2005 as a potential investor.
  
  It was so flawed there is much contributory liability over the period 2005 to 2010.
  Problem after problem and much of it rooted back to the design.
  It was about as safe as a 1915 submarine in the war.
  
  STFU over Pike river until we have some actual accountability over the 115 dead in the CTV building.
  There were 185 deaths plus maimings from the Feb 22 2011 quake.
  115 or two thirds of all deaths were in one building.
  Without it the death toll would have been 70.
  There was a clear line of responsibility through initial Council sign off and sign off after the Dec 2010 quake. There was definable professional underperformance in design and build.
  
  115 people died who should not have.
  It was a not a ‘hazardous workplace’ like a working gas filled coal mine.
  People were in shorts and T shirts, some from overseas paying for an education.
  They should not have died.
  Others have permanent injuries like loss of limbs.
  They do not bleat all day every day.
  Perhaps they should.
  Compensation where paid was small (ACC schedule rates)
  The Pike river people have had massive payouts per capita.
  Nothing will ever make some of them happy.
  Stop now.
  
  I repeat.
  Fuck Pike River.
  It was a dangerous place with a shambolic but short history.
  Liable include greenies who pushed the appalling design;
  Owners like NZ Oil and Gas who accepted the design;
  DOC who stood by and let this happen;
  lack of professional mine inspectors;
  the whole idea sanctioned under the Clark Labour Govt;
  Andrew Little with the EPMU;
  the staff who did not stop work over the dangers;
  so on and so forth. Many were attached to this disaster to varying degrees.
  
  Gnashing of teeth will not bring back 29 lives.
  Let them RIP.

    The men knew of the safety reputation of the mine, and on many occasions in the last two weeks they should have walked out but didn’t.
    The leaked audio, recorded on the morning of the disaster, is unbelievable – and, it seems, no longer available on YouTube, where it was for quite some time.
    
    The men involved could be almost accused of wilful determination in the face of simple common sense to remain working in the situation that lead to their deaths.

      The net result is a lost business, lost lives, broken lives, shattered plans, lost employment and many parties who should let it go that won’t.
      After eight years and the constant whining, looking to blame a bogeyman (or woman) means the people still making noise are displaying mental health issues that should be addressed.
      They have not proceeded through the natural stages of grief and this is what should be attended to, not disturbing a grave or putting more lives at risk for no material gain.
      
      It seems to be driven by vengeance and the desire to prove others were wrong.
      Back to mental health again!
      
      I weep for the mother of Amber Rose Rush, the 16 year old who was murdered in her own home, in Dunedin by the 30 year old obsessive Indian doctor. The mother appears to have taken her own life out of grief. This means two deaths at the hand of this piece of scum. This is the loss of a mother/daughter/sister from this family. A mother and daughter taken from a small suburban family.
      That is a true tragedy.
      
      I feel for the people of Christchurch who lost loved ones in the Feb 2011 Christchurch earthquake and the 100,000s of people who suffered for years to put their lives back together and fought dodgy insurance companies and badly performing Fletchers.
      
      The victims of the CTV building – which includes pained family and friends- have shown quiet dignity despite many getting a rum deal e.g. there were some single child Chinese young adults who paid to be here -overseas funds and all- where the child died. The parent went from one child to none with no-one to look after them in old age in a largely pension-less society.
      Their payout. Less than $50,000.
      
      Bernie Monk and these noise makers show no respect, no dignity, nor awareness of what NZ has done to help them.
      Their behaviour – fuelled by cynical self-serving politicians and further inflamed by dishonest media – shows no cognisance of significant suffering from friends and family of people killed in road accidents; farm workers killed on the job; forestry workers killed on the job and so on.
      
      It is time to depoliticise this nonsense and get the mental health care for these people that they need.
      
      Let’s use the re-entry money instead to help people like Lisa Ann Rush (the deceased mother of a child murdered in her own home ) before it is too late.
      Care for the living.

    When this tragedy first happened, I (like many other NZers) contributed to the appeal for families. Terrible thing, poor buggers and all that.
    But some of these families have switched occupations from coal mining to guilt mining and they’re finding it much more lucrative.
    I was already fed up with them but they plumbed the depths when they turned up to a commemoration for the Strongman victims.
    I wonder how the Strongman widows who raised their children with not a shred of assistance felt having the Pike River millionaires in their midst who are still baying for more public funding for their fools errand while the Strongman victims remain at the coal face.

  I was speaking to a sheilah who works for the post office the other day and apparently KiwiBank is going to downgrade all their agencies in post offices to basic withdrawal and deposit services only (very soon or maybe from today). This means that you won’t be able to open a KiwiBank account or make any changes to your mortgage etc via the post office’s agencies anymore.
  
  I still use the NZ Post for my business and I have to feel sorry for their agencies and staff who are seeing their livelihoods crumble away under their feet as mail volumes hit the floor. I know it’s technically correct to say that they’re a fossil from a byegone age etc…. but it must be hard to be part of. A bit like CD distributors, photolabs and DVD rentals.

    Kiwibank has been poorly run since day one, it’s profitability has been pitiful, considering it had free use of premises. I think that even Heartland bank is more profitable with less assets. For most of the years NZ Post used its profits to prop up the bank and so it didn’t invest enough for the online revolution. Originally, the owners of the little NZ Post franchises had the idea of setting up a Fonterra type collective bank where they were all the shareholders but Anderton got wind of the idea and claimed it for his own in a grand communist scheme. Like all communist schemes the lack of individual ownership means nobody cares.

      Awhile back I had a letter to post and I got myself a book of stamps with a $5 note ready to pay for it.
      I was shocked to find the cost was $12 but I coughed up and now I add a stamp when I make a donation since it has become a major expense for the charity concerned to pay for a ‘reply paid’ envolope.
      I do not add a stamp when I pay my rates considering it a small discount on the money they waste .

Of course if the demands of the far left Lunatic Green Party and supported by Helen Clark’s Liebour Party had been ignored the mine would have been a so called open cut mine. With probably no lives lost.
Think the political claptrap should be exposed and more attention should highlighed on why sadly so many miners met their deaths in an under-ground mine like Pike River. What price an open cut mine if the clock could be turned back.
Sadly even now with Angry Andy Little leading the political fiasco of spending 50 Million Dollars of Taxpayers Money by so called doing the “right thing” of putting the lives of others again, to go into the mine, probably knowing that there is no There There. What a bloody indictment.

One of our Whanganui councillors has come out and said that “We must do better”. On reading further its not the Councillors who must do better its the Ratepayers. This is the Councillor who has called for a “holistic rates-funded kerbside pickup for everyone”???. “It would cost”, but the councillor says, “we need to decide what’s more important; the environment or our back pockets.“ Sorry my back pocket wins every time when it come to this Council who wasted $32m on a failed Wastewater system and contracted out the Rubbish to a Chinese Company who have decided to walk away from it.
p.s. The same company owns the only landfill in the region so any replacement will cost twice as much.

  A birth certificate, if it is to be any use at all, is to record some facts:
  * you were born on 24 April, 1976
  * you were born in Christchurch, NZ
  * you were born male
  * your name is Jimmy Bloggs
  * your parents are etc etc

Israel has resorted to forays of terror which are severe violations of the Geneva Convention and the Hague Convention.

    That’s the outer atmosphere and it has virtualy no real bearing on the inner atmosphere in regard to temperature.
    
    Overall the peak variance hitting the earths atmosphere is only 1W. Sun spots vary the wavelength profile. The wavelengths affected cause the most effect the outer atmosphere.
    
    Otherwise the variable output is negligible.
    Add to that the base line temp is -15 degC not 0degK. So any % change in Suns energy has resultant smaller effect. If temp is 10 degC and input energy drops 1% then you get 0.25 degC drop or rise.
    Historic max, and min sun variance is less than 0.1%.
    The max effect is about 0.025 deg C.
    
    You used a go to anti climate warming argument.

A number of countries are not signing up to the immigration agreement even though it is supposedly non binding.

    The people who want all children to be indoctrinated by the state have a problem – if you refuse access to the school due to non-vaccination, the kids will be home schooled. That means the state has little access to them to programme them to be willing worker bees. Gasp! They might form independent opinions. Schools do ask for evidence of vaccination but they don’t have the power to refuse the child if it’s not provided.

  This is an interesting question. My sympathy’s with the woman who was charged.
  
  Prostitution was made legal, and there were many consequences, such as the Department of Labour preparing safe-practice recommendations and publications for prostitutes. That was beneficial if it reduced incidence of venereal disease.
  
  But, I agree with CMM. If you have a legal occupation, can you, for example, sue someone for defamation for revealing what your occupation is?
  
  Will this occupation be included on electoral rolls? On passports? Or is it legal to keep your legal occupation secret, or to lie about it on official documents?

    The newspaper report says the angry wife online called the prostitute a “”diseased town bicycle.”
    
    I can see that “diseased” could be defamatory, but can it be defamatory to call a prostitute a “town bicycle”? That, in a derogatory way, just accuses the woman of being promiscuous. Is it offensive to call a prostitute promiscuous?
    
    As a rough colonial, I would have thought it might be more insulting to say a prostitute was unable to be promiscuous.

        Whoops, I need to correct that 4.07 post. I’ve re-read the newspaper article and it says … she [the prostitute] had been dating the accused woman’s estranged partner for about six weeks, and did not meet him through the escort agency she worked for.
        
        So it sounds like the man’s relationship with the prostitute occurred after he was “estranged” from his wife. So the sex worker was a subsequent partner.

Some fun. Was at the local mall to buy some bottles of adult medicine. I got my Trump 2020 hat on. 4 young guys with skateboards are walking towards me. I spies my hat and starts backing away, making stupid grunting noises. So I said to the others “what’s the matter with that fucking wanker?”
“Oh he doesn’t like your hat and he’s offended”
“So what? nothing happens when you are offended”
“I think you should take it off”
“I think you can fuck off. If he wants it off he can come and try to take it off”

Had to laugh- Last night my wife and her friend from the UK were sitting having a wine with dinner.
Jacinda Ardern appeared on the news at her latest overseas Conference/Shopping Trip/Whatever..
Our friend was horrified-
“What the fuck is she wearing?”
“Do you not pay your Prime Minister enough to get a decent set of clothes?”

Ardern really is a dreadful creature- Our friend was horrified when we told her that she wore that same old coat and those clunky boots when she met Prince Harry and Meghan!

    Of course, the Nauru refugee issue came up, and John Anderson described NZ’s position as “virtue-signalling” before pointing out that Australia takes 4 times as many refugees (per capita) as NZ does.

How sad for our accidental PM. Her dreams of sitting at the high table with Mike Pence were shattered when Mrs Pence sat in between them. In American grid iron this is called running interference.

Although some of our media were waxing about Pence & Ardern sharing tit bits of gossip it appears Mrs Pence was try to explain to her husband what Ardern was gabbling about – caused by her top lip sticking to her teeth. Barry Soper fully explained that this is embarrising for her when she becomes nervous. During the pre-election debates she had to go back stage to be unstuck.

Someone please replace her with a normal Adult. Even Peters will do.

        Mutton fat is the most underrated lubricant known to man stigie. Never be caught without it.
        
        In fact most aerosol lubricants such as WD40 are based on lanolin & if you can’t unloosen your nuts with that you’re in trouble.
        
        But goat fat is a bit of an unknown in the Wairarapa. I suspect that it could be rendered into tallow for soap but since that is a product not commonly used by followers of The Prophet not much data is available. 🙂
