But seriously, is it really worth letting the 3rd world into ones nation in the hope that some of them can kick a ball better or run faster than other countries 3rd worlders?

Personally, if I was a Frenchman, I’d be happy for the French Team to never win a game again if it meant no Charlie Hedbos, Bataclans, Nices, Marseilles, Toulouses etc. to name but only the most high profile recent massacares.

    Your parents arrive as immigrants, a couple of years later after living in their new country they have you.
    
    According to what you’re saying you are still a foreigner even though you may have never been spent any time in the country your parents came from
    
    What happens next? Do you have to marry and breed with some “pure bred native” and then your off spring becomes 1/2 a French/German ….. then after repeating that step for 3 or 4 generations it’s then acceptable for your descendants to be considered a true French/German etc.

      When the gobbermint decides you are and issues you with the relevant permit, in english countries it is often refered to as ‘citizenship’.
      
      If your still unsure I recommend that you get in touch with your relevant local government department in charge of this category of state license.
      
      It might take you a while, the government believes they control everything and everyone inside of their area of exclusive territoriality, so there are many departments in charge of licensing.
      
      They even have a department in the Jurisdiction of NZ in charge of inventing Human Rights, its trully amazing when a bunch of people get together what they can come up with!

      In an Old World ethnically homogeneous culture with unique, valued and identifiable traditions and its own language, there will be a tendency for immigrants of different stock to be regarded as foreigners (by people who don’t personally know them).
      You are right that one way around this is to show the community that you have severed ties to your culture. Some of the ways you can do this are by:
      – Using the native language in your household
      – Not sending your children to schools for ex-pats
      – Joining a local temple or shrine society and making attempts to accept the local belief system
      – Not attempting to arrange a marriage with a native of your forefather’s country
      – Making friends in the native community and encouraging your children to socialize with the locals
      – Not discouraging your children from marrying members of the native community
      – Using a doctor or medical practitioner trained at a national facility (abandoning the folk cures of your ancestors)
      – Not flying your ancestral national flag from your house for all to see
      – Not wearing ancestral national dress in public

  I had a debate with someone if reading a book was the same as eyes locked on phone. We decided books are far easier to look up from that a phone, where colours and led lighting is designed to keep your eyes fixed.

They don’t have to feed them breakfast before they go to school. They don’t have to watch them to make sure they do not get in harms way. And they certainly don’t have to feed them decent food when they do feed them, because you can feed them shit like McDonalds and make up excuses when they go on their merry unsupervised way out of the playground when you’re not watching them.

Yesterday’s DomPost had most of front page devoted to a hit on Housing NZ for not allowing a woman to move into her recently deceased father’s state house. She is not homeless but thinks she has a right to it just because she was brought up in that house.
Frankly, who cares? Why are subscribers paying good money to see that trash on the front page. The Stuff site carries the story with comments ‘closed’ – the journo no doubt expected to be trashed if he allowed comments.
And why is Duncan Garner criticising Simon Bridges for adversely commenting on the Minister of Health being on holiday in Australia instead of staying behind to deal with the nurses strike. Duncan – your job is to report news – not make it.
Also Duncan, Did you in 2008 criticise ex Labour Ministers who were yelling and screaming for National Ministers to spend the Christmas break period in their Beehive offices to sort NZ out when the world’s economy was shaky (and a big part of the problem for NZ was sorting out Labour’s messes)?

  Dear Ole dad who lived in that house for 37 years was employed as a chef, and continues to live in that house for circa 20 years after his kids had left home.
  
  A quite ok 3 bedroom on a HUGE section in a nice spot half an hour from Wellington CBD that families would give their eye teeth for.
  
  Why wasnt dad given a 1 bed flat and the house given to a family of 5?
  Why hasnt the section been subdivided and another house (or 2) put on the back?
  Why THE FUCK would this ganged up solo mum think she has a right to OUR house?

        HNZ under the National government have also done one helluva lot of work to improve housing stocks with dividing large sections to improve land utilisation and demolishing and rebuilding where housing stocks were inappropriately configured.

  I will undoubtedly get downvoted to hell for this despite being the least marxist amongs us here, but regardless the MOH should have gone overseas!
  
  He should have announced he was going overseas! He should have announced that his pre-arranged holiday was going to be extended! And he should have told the nurses that if they havent accepted by the time he gets back that the deal is off and that there won’t be another pay rise this Labour gubbermint, if it lasts 1 term or 3 terms like the last two.
  
  He should of explained to the public that the nurses are paid well above the median hourly wage, and that despite their fabrications of how hard it is, that it isn’t a particularly physically or intellectually demanding job, and that many other NZers work far longer, far harder and for far less pay!
  
  And that the government wants to do right by the people, and on behalf of the people, but they wont be pushed around, and they wont let the people paying their wages be taken advantage of..
  
  And he should of stated that everyone should be disgusted by the action of the nurses! Which they should. Having experienced public and private hospitals I can safely say that a Private hospital employs no where near the number of nurses per patient as a public hospital, and the service is worlds apart!

      And conversely they do much work at very little Health Budget cost. If they ceased to exist the State would have to allocate far more. There would be very few instances that have to be moved to the emergency care facilities of public hospitals. Similarly with integrated, charter and private schools. If the Catholic education had collapsed (mainly because the numbers taking vows and teaching for nix plummeted) it would have cost the State a fortune to replace or buy out the Catholic school land, buildings, etc.

      There just about as inefficent as possible and it is motivated by an irrationally extreme risk adversion, incompetence and an equally extreme disdain for the taxpayer by management.

The father in-law just arrived back from a few days in Sydney. He was saying the taxi driver who took him to Kingsford Smith was actually a ‘real aussie’ for a change…..not the usual surly non-talkative immigrant you normally strike.

Naturally enough, the cabbie had a hard-line view on most things…..particularly immigration. The driver was telling Pop that he reckoned the biggest mistake the government ever made there, was repealing ‘The White Australia Policy’ back in the 70’s. As he so eloquently put it, “This country’s fucked mate!”

However, it’s a case of ‘horses to water’, and human nature being what it is, all the signs and speaking in the world, simply won’t stop such things happening.

BTW, according to RNZ such people go fishing in such places because they cannot afford to purchase food and see it as a convenient way to avoid starvation (my paraphrase).

On that basis, such practices are likely to continue..

  Consider the hours involved driving this family to Muriwai, waiting for the fish to bite, and the cost of petrol involved in transport, it would have been far cheaper to spend the money on Mad Butcher 10-kg bags of frozen chicken pieces.
  To buy a kg of frozen chicken takes far less time and money than to obtain a kg of fresh fish.

  I would say two things –
  Trump is rhetorically mild towards Russia and yet his actions are strong. He lambasted Germany about their pipeline with Russia, he armed Ukraine defending themselves against Russia and he bombed Russian ally Syria.
  Secondly Trump’s critics will never be satisfied. If he is mild then he is weak and an appeaser. If he is strong then he is a madman and a warmonger.

  Trump is doing OK. The biggest threat to the worlds’s survival is thermonuclear war involving Russia, China and the Usa with North Korea as the opening gambit. So Trump goes and talks to the Leaders of these countries and for the most part they all seem to be getting on OK. Now the anti Trumpists hate this, so they will do anything to say what a failure this is. I feel a lot safer in a world where these guys are smiling at the end of a meeting, than not. Yesterday, DPF posted a piece about Taxcinda & the CoL attempting to take NZ’s industrial relations back to the 1970s.

A number of us who can remember that far back pointed out it wasn’t such a great era, but then there was Psycho Milt claiming it was a period of low unemployment & high wages etc.

To his credit PM was correct sort of.
I too can remember low unemployment & higher wages, but (& it is a very big but), NZ was a very different cojntry/economy and the question for PM (& Greenies like JAG) do you really want to go back to that kind of country.
For instance:
1. Unemployment was low because a large portion of the population were not counted as employed or unemployed – they were the stay at home mums/housewives who did not really feature in the economy. So PM, are you up to telling JAG & 50% of the population their career options will be limited again?;
2. NZ’s economy was protected & had jobs and industries protected by government;
3. Employment & welfare benefits that are common today, would have to go e.g. paid maternity leave, reduce annual leave to 3 weeks etc.;
4. Technology has meant that a number of jobs common a generation ago have all but disappeared e.g. do you remember the days when every shopping area had an electrical repair shop? – try & find one today for your faulty TV;
5. Remember the days of no weekend shopping?; and
6. Only a handful of supermarkets, because each suburban area had multiple grocers, butcher’s, green grocers etc.

The reality is our society has moved measurably since the 1970s, so it is false dreams to believe the 1970s was ever a golden age & it is a pipe dream to believe industrial relations can ever go back to that era without major changes to NZ.

  Not to forget we didnt’ compete on the international market. We had to make most things here because we threw up great big import tariffs to force job creation here. So yep, inaccurate talking points like Psycho would remember sound great to university students until you point out things like:
  1) Womens participation rate at universities
  2) The average age of first birth
  3) You had to ask the government to move money out of the country
  4) Trucks couldn’t go further than 120 miles a day
  5) Death taxes
  6) Car free days

As opposed to in 1986 the narrow definition of the total number of those registered with the Dept of Labour as unemployed or in job training, which had been taken as the number unemployed. Prior to 1986, it was common for women not to feature in unemployment statistics because they were not registered.

    It’s a widespread problem. Like uber and other disruptions to business as usual. There are points on both sides. Innovative business models shouldn’t be stifled by unnecessary regulation. Existing businesses shouldn’t be disadvantaged because existing regulations and taxes only capture their way of doing business. She was beside herself raving on about them meeting together with maybe only translators. She was raving that as she and the other LEFT MSM werent going to be there they didnt know what was going to be discussed and Trump could “give away everything” in her words. The other dude presenter with her just nodded and looked like he was under her control and said nothing.

Lava from the Kilauea Volcano, or one of its vents closer to the coast, has shot molten lava into the air with it landing on a tour boat injuring 13 people. Resulting in one person having a broken leg while the rest were burnt from the molten hot splatter. Spectacular and dangerous.

      The boat had what looked like a substantial aluminium roof. No match for the molten basketball sized rocks being lobbed skywards and ripped a half-metre sized hole before landing on the passengers below. Turns out the vent the lava rocks were coughed from was one that had formed on the coast. The tour boat was a decent distance from the coast – not far enough as it turned out.

Thanks to New Zealand’s Green “enthusiasm”, as many as 3000 of the gutsy little tahr have been killed in a cull in the Mount Cook region, it is alleged in the Otago Daily Times today.

Lewis Hore, of Oamaru, writes to the editor that the cullers would have used around 4500 rounds of lead buckshot. He reckons that entails 4500 plastic rounds, 4500 plastic wads, and about 200kg of lead. In one mission.

These will now be killing our endangered keas, he suggests.

Hore notes that DOC and the Kea Conservation Trust say keas are being killed by lead, and point to lead-head nails on mountain huts and even lead balance weights on car wheels. However, these nails have been on huts for decades, but keas were abundant until the last 20 years or so.

Hore adds that the wheel weights could be a factor only on the three mountain passes.

Before someone pipes up that maybe steel ammunition was being used – I don’t think so. Buckshot that can be bought readily in NZ is lead.

There are others above claiming Trump had a gloriously successful meeting and press conference with Putin this morning.

Well, I’m sorry to say, you all must be on drugs to think that. Regardless of any partisan posturing, the US President meekly submitted to Putin, believed what he said, and claims “all I can do is ask the question.”

What a joke. He bombasts his way around Europe saying whatever the hell he wants, interfering in domestic UK politics, running down a critical western alliance, and generally making the US look as brash and as stupid as many overseas see them.

Then when he meets Putin he’s suddenly Mr Subservient, and literally backed Putin over his own country. I saw it described as disgraceful and I’d have to agree.

Today, the Trump who so many here think is a “winner” and can never lose, bent over and gladly took one up the jacksie from the Russian thug.

It’s a sad day for America, and a sad day for the western hemisphere which includes us.

Oh, and Winston is playing for the Kiwi redneck vote with his comments, so I expect many here will vote for him in 2020, thus securing a second term for the useless Labour govt.

So you go to prison if you’re in the gay community and try to warn people about a member with AIDS effectively committing conspiracy to commit murder.
      
      And his body have supported the academics preventing western civilization studies at USYD while they teach cultural Marxism and do everything they can to facilitate Chinese espionage and IP theft in Australia.
      
      So he and his governing body are trying to destroy my church and destroy my nation, and hurt the kiwi diaspora in Australia for whom this is all completely irrelevant ferment, but which affects them enormously.

Dave, there’s nothing “unkind” about Odakyu-sen’s post.
I am sick of seeing immigrants risking and losing their lives totally unnecessarily through ignoring simple safety measures.
They go out on boats without lifejackets (but often with a few crates of beer. )
They ignore warning signs at dangerous beaches and lakes (though there need to be more signs.)
If it weren’t for substantial fines, believe me they would never bother to wear their seat belts.
A lot of it is the “God will look after us” attitude.
Immigrants are over-represented in our accident and drowning stats.

  Here are some factors that MAY place immigrants at risk in NZ.
  – A “she’ll be right” attitude that is even stronger than the Kiwi one of a generation ago
  – A lack of knowledge of local conditions
  – No friends who possess “knowledge of local conditions”
  – A lack of English skills to Google the “knowledge of local conditions”
  – Lack of a sense of urgency to acquire the skills needed to find out about “knowledge of local conditions” all by themselves (i.e., going and watching what the locals do or contacting fishing clubs and asking their members directly)
  – Low cognitive intelligence (inability to ask themselves what could go wrong) and inability to formulate likely risk scenarios
  – Cultural conditioning not to question the decision of the group leader
  – The assumption that conditions in NZ are identical to those in their own country (dry sand in Dubai is not the same as black iron sand on the West Coast)
  – A culture in which normative behavior is extremely prescribed (once they get to NZ, they feel that they are no longer being watched by their peers, neighbors or community watchdogs, and that they are “free” to do anything they want)

    You’re right about the cultural conditioning.
    People from non western cultures are taught blind obedience and not to think independently.
    That’s why virtually all of them follow the religion they were born into.
    Religion is the #1 priority.
    Everything else comes a distant second.
    E.g. One Pacific country has more churches than any other nation.
    But no social welfare, proper prisons, access to contraception, decent hospitals, health and safety education, and very little family violence support.

    Tourists from this country, the UK, the US, etc go to places like Phuket and Pattaya, hire motorbikes and buzz around without crash helmets, and in some cases insurance, as if they’re bulletproof.

      I have some great memories of motorcycling in Phuket in the last century.
      I didn’t wear a helmet so I was extremely careful. Nevertheless, in the late afternoon sun, the top of my forehead (exposed as my hair was blown back) got sunburned. (I had a red racing stripe!)
      Another time, I stopped to help another motorcycling tourist who thought that they had run out of gas. I showed them how to switch the gas tap over to the “reserve” setting. After that, they could start their motorbike.

      My wife passed away at home a year ago next month after a long illness also. I’m not trying to give you advice or anything but an ex-copper mate I saw on the day, and then a couple of days later asked how I was going, I replied “I’m going o.k”, he then replied, “well keep going”. Over the last year that has made a lot of sense and been helpful to me. It takes time. Take care mate.

For instance, the last year, there was one extradition case upon the request sent by the United States. This treaty has specific legal procedures we can offer. The appropriate commission headed by Special Attorney Mueller, he can use this treaty as a solid foundation and send a formal, official request to us so that we could interrogate, hold questioning of these individuals who he believes are privy to some crimes. Our enforcement are perfectly able to do this questioning and send the appropriate materials to the United States. Moreover, we can meet you halfway. We can make another step. We can actually permit representatives of the United States, including the members of this very commission headed by Mr. Mueller, we can let them into the country. They can be present at questioning.”

      I agree that Russia and USA should have good relations, but I note that Russia is the long time US bogeyman and suggest that Trump’s apparent acceptance of Putin’s assurances over the findings of his own intelligence agencies risks alienating not just the old school GOP but also his “deplorables”.

        My understanding ( and I could be wrong) is that they haven’t and that they have relied on the report prepared by a company called Crowdstrike
        A company which has links to people in Ukraine.
        Assange has said that all the software used was widely available. In fact the ‘hackers’ got access through spearfishing computer hacking which is an email spoofing type hack.
        Pretty common method.
        I suspect there’s more to come out on this. They tried the GOP site too.
        In her recent book ex DNC chair Donna Brazile admits the FBI warned them they were loose with their security and she ignored them.

“Earlier this year … there was a lot of reporting around the African gang crisis and we experienced our biggest spike in complaints that we have ever had in relation to race discrimination directly after that period,” she said.

Wow. So we have “the African gang crisis” but, apparently, we’re not supposed to discuss it.

If someone says that Sudanese gangs commit a lot of crime in Melbourne, and it’s backed up by crime statistics, then that’s not “race discrimination” – no matter how much the PC do-gooders want it to be.

        Well common now Realityczech, we know that it was France and the UK that declared war on Germany, not Germany declaring war on France and the UK, and at that point germany was so un-prepared and so unaware of such a plan by France and the UK to invade germany taht 90% of the soldiers from the border with France were busy helping the Russians invade Poland.
        
        And remember that although it was the Polish ‘issue’ that was the ‘Allies’ Justification for war, that Poland didn’t exist prior to Germany creating it after defeating the Russian Empire and splitting it into many ‘mini-russias’ in WW1, and that Russia had also invaded Poland with Germany, whereby they signed an agreement to undo the creation of poland and restore their respective borders to how they were prior to WW1.
        
        Yet the UK and France only declared war on Germany, not on the Soviet Union. Which means that they lied about their reasons for declaring war. The fact that they didn’t immediately invade also shows they shouldn’t have declared war because they didn’t think it through.
        
        The german forces were so severely depleted on the French Front that had France invaded with their 40 Divisions the day they declared war they would have been halfway through Germany before German soldiers turned around to repel the French Invaders.
        
        They probably could of forced Germany to sue for peace and avoided 60 million unecessary deaths.

    1918: Germany surrenders after “the stab-in-the-back.” This occurred when Trade Unions go on strike depriving soldiers of supplies and weaponry. The press also prints defeatist, anti-war sentiment which lowered morale.
    
    This one actually is incorrect – you do have to sneak the occasional outright lie in there. The “Dolchstoss” was a Nazi propaganda lie – in reality Germany was completely fucked by 1918 and the military high command under Ludendorf were the only people pretending otherwise. Oh, and look who’s stabbing the poor German soldier in the back and duplicitously robbing him of the righteous victory he would totally have won otherwise despite the constraints of physical reality – it’s a Jew! Those damn Jews!

    I was an old maid/spinster of the parish for long enuf..
    
    I don’t see why we need a bunch of taxonomists peering up the jacksie of a harmless arachnid, or counting the dickydidos on a carpel.
    
    I’ve never noticed a totara or a manuka get upset when I call them Harry or Horace or Martha.
    
    I think folks like made-up history and press-button touch screens and nice coffee.

      I like old school Museums. Draws full of bugs and not allowed to touch anything. Te Papa is more like a shrine to PC.

        I s’pose The Field Museum, Chicago is the best I’ve seen for stuffed animals in idealised habitat dioramas
        
        The Tasmanian Museum in Hobart was good in that old-fashioned way 20 years ago.
        
        The Chatham Is Museum is pretty good; last time I saw it, items were stuffed all randomly in a broom cupboard.
        
        I won’t mention the condition of natural taonga in the Whanganui Museum basement.

      They will attack people and use that as evidence the speakers are inciting violence.
      
      The media will sort the details and probably provide video evidence that the protesters were the ones attacked.
      
      It will be a set up from start to finish. Trouble is people can record what really happened on a simple phone now days. So it might not work.

The Police Commissioner has already shown he is not a champion of free speech by calling for tighter controls on “hate speech”.

He will likely support the weasel, Mayor ~~Gaffe~~ Goff, in trying to shut down these speakers and thus bow to demands of a relative handful of Islamic immigrants to curb our democracy.

~~Gaffe’s~~ Goff’s got to go. He’s a threat to democracy.

In the meantime, the anti-free-speech campaign has shown the danger of letting more Muslims settle in New Zealand. Islam is incompatible with Western democracy.

If there’s violence, the Muslims will be to blame by starting the effort to shut out these two political speakers.
