Hooray; it’s the weekend!

SWMBO is away, so I have the Sky remote and between the golf, rugby, league and Supercars, the couch seems like a good place to be. I’d better do the lawns first though…

      Ryan Fox in by the skin of his teeth KS. Hendry imploded as expected. Fox just needs to work back to par and he would have a good finishing position I think. Carnoustie is just as tricky as Shinnecock hills.

        Fox played pretty solidly, and he’s only nine back of the lead. No one has run away with the tournament, and there are nearly 40 players within six shots of the lead.
        
        I watched a bit of Tiger Woods last night, after the Hurricanes had knocked off the Chiefs. He made a couple of early bogies, and looked a bit fragile. But then he bounced back with birdies on four and five. It’s great to see him at least competitive now, even if not winning. Interestingly, 18 former Majors winners missed the cut, including world #1 Dustin Johnson and #2 Justin Thomas.
        
        Fox missed the cut at the Open last year, so will gain in ranking points this week, and should improve on his current career-high ranking of #84.
        
        Here’s hoping the wind blows a bit today, because a links course without wind, even a course as tough as Carnoustie, is like fish without chips.

Peter Hitchens publishes a great article over at the Spectator – “Marxism didn’t die. It’s alive and well and living among us”.

He states that most people associate “Communism” with old style Soviet Bolshevism yet the Communism that we are suffering under the weight of is nothing of the sort – rather it is Globalism and is subsuming ancient (European) cultures and traditions into a great brown rootless consumerist soup with most not even knowing what is going on:

But Russian communism was not communism as a whole. That lived on, dissolving itself into a great pink political blancmange of Europhilia, political correctness, multi-culturalism and the sexual revolution.

He explains how the useful idiots of the left changed tact and instead of campaigning for workers rights (which they don’t give a flying f**k about – it was all about creating divisions in a homogeneous united people) they have focused all their energies on “social battles”:

It does stagger me to see how oblivious some right wingers are to the culture wars and how issue by issue, pillar by pillar, they unwittingly cede territory to left-wing extremists until there is nothing left worth defending bar some heavily caveated version of “free speech”.

The article concludes:

Indeed. Our very own Jacinda was on camera telling “fellow comrades” to rise up and smash “the system” yet no one blinks an eye-lid that she is now Prime Minister and National were to timid even to use it against her perhaps thinking no-one is smart enough to care.

Yet the relativley mild mannered speech of Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux are denied a platform and deemed “beyond the pale” despite their views being common sense and received wisdom for millenia.

We are in the middle of the biggest and most permanent revolution the world has ever seen yet most people don’t even know it is going on.

  So communism lived on as “anything Peter Hitchens doesn’t like.” Well yeah, if we use that definition there’s a huge number of “communists” throughout the western world, so many in fact that it’s possible for them to elect governments that reflect their views. Wellington police at it again – blanket opposing sports club alcohol renewal licences. And not just bowling clubs. Acting alongside with surprise surprise the Medical Officer of Health.

In a letter to Bowls Wellington, Senior Sergeant Scott Dunn from the Wellington Police District Alcohol Licensing Unit, outlined the reasoning for the sudden crackdown.

“As part of the regulatory agencies made up of police, the medical officer of health, and the council licensing inspectors, we are now reviewing applications and renewals for club licenses in a more robust manner – to be more in line with the provisions of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012.”

The police also said they were opposing the Whitby Bowling Club application for renewal because their bar was open at times the police might be a bit busy.
Can’t have those sports club louts taking up valuable police and ER time, now can we.

  But don’t worry Labour will save the day. They are looking to make an amendment to the Act to get Police to focus on working with sports clubs to educate them on how to reduce harm. FFS they are cops not community health workers

  The Police are totally out of line here and will lose public goodwill. Where does this instruction come from? They are trying to make the law rather than enforce it. Clubs whose behaviour has never been a problem are being victimized , while serious crime is ignored. The public must make clear this is unacceptable.

    Right Justitia but of all the establishments that have a licence these clubs and organisation are the least likely establishments to feature in any alcohol related problems. The members and patrons do a far better job of policing themselves than the police could ever do. It is just a social aspect that is enjoyed where some like to have a social drink.
    In the absence of any demographics to indicate that this is a problem area we must expect there is some hidden agenda driving this attitude from the licencing authority. As you say: “They are trying to make the law rather than enforce it” is true as we suffer from those with just some power assuming much more authority than their office affords. Likewise we are constantly reminded how little so many who presume to “know what is best” seem to know least of all as they preach from a point so far removed from real life and the people.

    If the premises is off-license you can. If it is on-license only then you can’t take any alcohol of the premises and have to consume it there. Their license should be visible from the bar and tell you what kind of license it is 😉

        Mark has the right amount of likability and charisma. He is the natural choice. IMHO Simon was picked solely because he was young and featured regularly alongside Ardern on Tv1. Some sort of misplaced hope he could be a viable alternative to swing the left…like that will ever happen in today’s world. I don’t know Mark but what I’ve seen of hime he seems like a genuinely good bloke. He has the community based background that will resonate with middle NZ and NZ First voters. If National want’s to win the next election they need to acquire a large section of NZ First voters to get across the line.         I’ve just read a Newshub poll which gives Bridges just 9% as preferred PM against 40% for the toothy communist chick! Also, with absolutely no other party support, National doesn’t stand a chance of regaining government on the present figures.
        
        This country is in real trouble. Whatever damage the Chaos Coalition does to NZ, it seems that the voting public will just shift their allegiances between them – Greens up-NZF down and so on. Probably the Maoris will be back next time under some other guise while Bridges and Co will just smile vaguely on the sidelines like a pack of woofers.
        
        What’s the answer? Do we want our country to descend into a rainbow/green/red pool of chaos and mayhem? The very name and notion of ‘conservative’ gas been ruined by the idiots at the last election and ACT are absolutely useless. 🙁

        The problem is marketing him to the sheeple. It is not looking flash and I am very worried. I suspect Bridges got to where he is by being skilled at internal party politics, but that skill is not transferable to appealing to public voters.

        I think I’ve got the answer… well, part of the answer anyway.
        
        Some conservative with lots of energy needs to do some serious research to identify potential conservative triggers among NZF, Green and Labour voters and more importantly among the 20% of citizens who didn’t vote last time. Surely all these people can’t be Muslim-loving LBGT perverts who hate plastic and want to turn out morons from our schools? Surely?
        
        Once the main triggers have been identified, along comes Mr X with a new party to represent all those people who don’t like what the Chaos Coalition is doing but can’t see anything through National’s beige wafty smokescreen.

While the blunders made during the recess will be more than enough material for pointed questions there are still so many earlier blunders to be addressed. Labour are already engaging image consultants.
What National doing with Bridges? This guy need to get to some communications classes, like yesterday.
He is going to end up like Hilary Clinton and lose his big chance because he was too self-absorbed to take the trouble to communicate effectively with his electorate.
I know he has made inroads, but he’s preaching to the converted. He needs to raise his game, and his profile and start to communicate in pithy sound-bytes, stop apologising for not being Jacinda and go for the jugular.
If he comes across as having no balls, he will leak votes to Winston Fist, and fail to convince wavering voters who will be swayed by a major ‘charm offensive’ from Ardern in the dying months of the next General Election.

    Right VP while we also not he is currently addressing meetings throughout the country where as commented here much of the time is given to question time. This indicates he is getting strong soundings from the voters on not just the issues that are important but what the majority standing is on those issues. This is an essential exercise for a new leader in what are very different times and he is wise to let the COL self destruct as they seem so intent on doing.
    Some may also be aware than in the meantime the National party members and executive are also reaching out for support on issues and funding. This is a twofold process as none are those pesky “no reply” begging letters with only designated amounts and methods of payment response buttons used by Labour. It opens up another direct line of communication where the cumulative messages received will be more significant than the individual response. It draws in any who can not get to a “live” venue but still have a chance to make their concerns aired.
    IMO this is the time for such gathering so far out from the next election much rather than going off half cocked over every blunder the COL are making. Especially in the absence of the Media party taking the COL to task but rather just puff pieces and preconditioning promotion of pending changes. Evidenced even today from NewShub promoting Shaw’s idiocy as he seems to relate the future from what seems to be his dream time.

And, as an aside from your comment, does anyone know exactly WHAT the Nats stand for anymore? Whatever it is, it definitely isn’t what was expressed in theur Founding Document!. In the past decade or so I have become a genuine admirer of Germaine Greer. When I first encountered her thinking about 40 years ago I thought she was crazy and hated men. I now see her being scorned by the new age feminists who really only seem to have an agenda of man-hating and being Lefties. Germaine judges history acutely. I read her take on the advent of the contraceptive pill and how the only women it really freed were married ones who had three children and didn’t want any more. The single women who believed they could swamp themselves in casual sex (“free-love” as it was then known) were in her words “fools becoming victims.” Society wasn’t ready for causal sex through the 1970s but the pill allowed men to assume that any woman on it was available for sex at anytime. This was a resounding feminist issue at the time as women who did partake in casual sex often awoke with intense regret given that while the science had granted them birth control it hadn’t taught them to fly against their deepest desires and the needed comforts of a lasting relationship. There was no pride to be had from multiple lovers as “girls can get it anytime they like!” The point of all this: What do current feminists stand for and believe? Have they actually suffered at the hands of men? Where will their bleak thoughts lead them? I have no idea but to hear them slagging off a genuine feminist (icon?) is disturbing.

While I can see why Bridges was chosen as Leader I am a little unhappy that he while he backs Peter Ellis over wrongful conviction claim he basically is saying it is time to move on.

The NZ government has paid millions in claims for events that happened over 150 years ago where the evidence is a lost shaker than in the case of Ellis and those who may have been wronged are long dead.

If the government of the day has wronged someone and they or their children are still alive they deserve justice. Labour is right in their enquiry into wrongful convictions.

Terrific to see Natalie Richie presenting a view like my own – Jacinda and her ilk of women are not championing women being women. They’re ‘championing’ women being deficient and needing to be “pretend men”.

The women’s movement, to do any good at all, needed to focus on a more appropriate work/life balance and arrangement which allows for all human beings to be meaningful family members as well as workers. All it has currently tried to do is ‘fix’ supposedly deficient women so that they don’t have to be women and can be and behave just like their view of ‘traditional’ men – who are the ultimate model of ‘rightness’ and ‘success’.

This is the scenario promulgated on TV that women with periods can and want happily and ably to do gymnastics down the street and across rooftops, that they can have all the children they like and abandon them to the care of someone else, or just kill them in the womb so they’re not an impediment to their ‘lifestyle’ and/or success. It might do something for those who don’t experience or value being a ‘woman’ but it is damaging for those who do.

It’s appalling modelling for parenthood as well. People wonder why we have the worst record on child abuse in the developed world – because children are a disposable and dispensable appendage to whimsical ‘parents’. There’s been a huge outcry over David Clark going to Australia during the nurses’ strike – his ‘job’ was to be present to live up to his chosen responsibilities.

However, creating a child and forming their entire life is the most significant task that anyone can engage in, but any parent is told that they can and should drag their children around to suit themselves and abandon them and their interests at will, despite being the most, if not only, defining influence in the life of that child. The inherent responsibility is simply shed with a shrug of the shoulders, if they even get that much thought. It’s part of the well proven false premise that parents can be easily replaced in the life of a child at any time and/or that children will thrive with no parental attention – that the parent will thrive without the child as well – mothers in particular.

  A fartherless child has the worst outcomes.
  A motherless child has outcomes much better than the fatherless ones.
  The best outcomes are from 2 parent families.
  The best outcomes from split families happens with 50:50 care.
  
  The issue with fartherless children is (generally) mothers develope emotions while the fathers teach the child to overcome them. A more balanced individual able to cope with the world.
  
  Mothers are very important, hence the first topics with a mental health professional will be “what was your relationship with your mother like”
  Fathers are equally important to the success of a child. Not having one is however more damaging than not having a mother.
  
  I look forward to the COL making significant steps in making fatherhood just as important as motherhood. It’s hatred of fatherhood by the police, CYPS, social services, courts is deplorable. Anything would be an improvement.

What I wrote yesterday about the difference between TVNZ and TV3 news was never more apparent than last night.

TVNZ (and I only heard the entry because I tend to watch The Chase while in and out of the kitchen) led with the pathetic ‘thought-control’ issue of Stefan Molyneux and Lauren Southern. It’s an item which should consist of, in a country with supposedly free speech, ‘they came, they spoke, they left’ – if reported at all. But TVNZ were just full steam ahead into the ’emotional orgy’ of inspiring and maintaining ‘offense’, totalitarian control by the Left, polarisation of the community, undoubtedly hoping for some extreme public response.

TV3, on the other hand, led with the Bay of Plenty DHB being subjected to an effort consisting of thousands/millions of attempts to hack into their IT system – and through it to that of every other DHB at best, further into NZ as a whole at worst.

More to the point, IT testing of hundreds of staff show they continue to be sucked into opening and entering their details into dangerous scam emails allowing the hackers to succeed.

Which one should be of genuine significance in NZ and on the news? There’s no doubt in my mind – and it’s the IT hackers and the dangerous and imbecilic staff.

  Yes, 1 News Facebook feed posts about the upcoming visit of Southern and Molyneux and how bad they are at least 3 times a day. Last night it was about Valerie Morse from ‘Auckland Peace Action’ getting threats by far-righters in relation to the visit. And then you had Iain Lees-Galloway calling them “repugnant” and saying that most New Zealanders would agree.
  
  I think that liberals are genuinely afraid of these speakers because they speak the commonsense truth that liberals cannot counter in debate so they turn to smearing instead; the old homophobic, bigoted, xenophobic, racist, sexist, smears.
  
  I’d love to see Goff, Iain Lees-Galloway, or this Valarie Morse debate Molyneux. They would lose to Molyneux, and lose badly.

    I’m sure there’s a group of the elite minority coterie who believe their own press and are deluded enough to believe that they’re in the majority.
    
    But, generally, it’s simply treating NZers like sheep who, if they can be made to believe the coterie are in the majority, will want to ‘join’ it.
    
    I could probably fairly easily predict at most times what the elite minority coterie would say about anything. I have no idea what a ‘majority of NZers’ would believe or say (and those are two entirely different things) and wouldn’t dare claim to know. I do know there are no ‘shared values’ anymore.
    
    I know very few individuals, in fact none, who would dare say openly what they really thought about anything in our current society. And who can blame them? Items like that on TVNZ serve to impress what the punishment would be like if they dared to diverge from the authoritarian view.

        In fact, I do have ‘evidence’ of a kind.
        
        I could say that a lot of life experience has taught me that while I’m inclined to say things out loud that few others want to be associated with in a public setting, my views have been always about ‘average’ if and when any final ‘evidence’ is produced.
        
        I could also say that the enforced doctrines of the elite minority coterie are fairly universal. And universally, the ‘majority’ of populations are increasingly dissenting, not just with their doctrine but with their principle of ‘enforced’ doctrine – from the Arab Spring to Turkey to Brexit to Trump’s election and the spiralling social disorder and/or unpredictable (to the MSM anyway) electoral outcomes in most First World societies – especially the rise of the elite’s detested ‘populism’, which is in fact just a majority wanting to restore their democracies.
        
        Given that human beings are more alike than different, and that NZers tend to be more apathetic than the rest of the world from living without serious threats and from a neurotic desire for self-importance and significance in the world they perceive to ‘be’, I would be certain that a lot of the population are divergent from the ‘approved doctrine’.
        
        But in such a small society, it is very difficult to get away with voicing it out loud with impunity when most ‘authority’ and the MSM are the active enforcers, not only publicly putting people ‘in the stocks’, but wrecking their careers and lives.
        
        Still, the cycle always turns eventually.

American Jobless Claims Drop to Lowest Level Since 1969.

American jobless claims have dropped to a historic low thanks to President Trump’s booming “America First” economy.
The number of Americans claiming unemployment has now dropped to the lowest level as of last week since December 1969, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. Jobless claims decreased by 8,000 to 207,000 as of July 14.

This translates to the shortest unemployment lines in the United States since 1969. Trump’s tight labor market economy has secured higher wages for a number of blue collar sectors for American workers as employers and businesses compete for employees.

Government and council have agreed that denser inner city housing is vital to making a success of the earthquake rebuild. Yet despite inking a deal with Fletcher to build nearly 1000 homes back in 2015, the first 20 properties won’t be finished until late this year.

The buyers just don’t seem to be there for them. And so the East Frame development has been uphill all the way.

However, take the road half an hour out of town to Lincoln and the story is the opposite. This once sleepy village has exploded with subdivisions. Its residential footprint is now 10 times what it was 20 years ago.

Governor Andrew Cuomo admits that abortion is not in the Constitution but is a judicial fabrication of the Supreme Court. Alan Keyes points out that so were the Dred Scott and Plessy vs Ferguson Supreme Court decisions which were pro-slavery and took away the rights of black people. Those have both been overturned and so (hopefully) one day will Roe.

What if everyone had simply acquiesced because the Supreme Court said they had to do so? Why didn’t they accept the Supreme Court’s word on racist slavery and segregation as “the law,” and leave it at that?

My dislike of Islam is based on the following things –
1 – the Islamic texts (which are *packed* with hatred towards non-Muslims).
2 – Islamic history (scumbags like Timurlane and his armies) – Muslims are estimated to have killed 270 million people (and counting) in the last 1400 years –

Suburbs which are now lawless and dangerous for even emergency services to enter. It’s no surprise that I don’t want such places here.

All of the above things are based on *facts*, not “I saw a Muslim at the supermarket and she seemed nice”.

I guess it comes down to *trust*.
You (and others) trust Muslims – I don’t (and given the facts in the areas I’ve mentioned above, I’d say there are more than enough reasons to be wary of them).

    It is *convenient* for Muslims to say that terror attacks are a response to Western meddling (as it deflects any examining of the religious source of their hatred).
    
    I think the West should pull out of all activity in the Middle East, and then Muslims wouldn’t have an excuse. There would be no “easy out” for attacks to be blamed on.

        I know Jet Rangers cost a bit more, they are better aircraft. Robinson 44s have gravity fuel flow..no fuel pumps.
        
        Jet bell Rangers .. Fuel is transferred from each forward cell into the main fuel tank by the action of a dedicated dual element ejector (jet) pump powered, respectively, by fuel under pressure from the output side of the left and right fuel boost pumps sited on the floor of the main tank. These fuel bleeds are passed through wire mesh filters/check valves upstream of the jet pumps and are sensed by flow switches. Loss of the fuel flow is indicated to the pilot by the respective boost pump warning light. Thus if the fuel pumps were to fail, or the supply in the main tank becomes exhausted, then these lights should illuminate. Fuel quantity in the main and additional tanks is measured using capacitive type sensors, their outputs being summed and presented as a total quantity on a single gauge on the instrument panel. As the forward tanks are interconnected, the single probe fitted to the left forward tank normally senses the quantity in both forward tanks.

        Had to ferry gear and friend down to the river flats first as it could not pull everything out of the clearing in one go. Then hook the gear on and drag it forward to try and get lift.

  I have very little sympathy for Cyclists- They seem to all have the most unbelievably arrogant attitudes!
  I nearly hit one who was riding toward me on a one way once (It was early morning, still dark!)
  I got out of my car and called him a fucking idiot- The lycra-wearing freak shrieked at me and called me all sorts of names ..
  What stuck me was his “I’ve got as much right as you do to be on the road”…
  He was riding the WRONG WAY down a one way street. In the fucking dark.
