  It would be respectful and perhaps defuse the growing frustration with the fickle placements of GENERAL DEBATE on this website.
  There are many regular [and in my opinion – perceptive contributors making valuable and regular contributions.
  It surprises and disappoints me that DPF has given no explanation for the erratic appearance of GENERAL DEBATE.

  It is enough that she is – perhaps not. Some are starting to see beyond the fairy-dust
  
  So effective are “Jacinda’s” communication skills, that a great many New Zealanders have taken to confusing her declarations with actual achievements. Those who point out the discrepancy between the Prime Minister’s magnificent words and her government’s less-than-magnificent deeds are not well received. But, that does not mean they are wrong.
  
  What Ardern weaves with her words are not the intentions that lead to actual deeds, but the dangerous illusion that what is being asked of her has already been accomplished – made real by her unmistakable sincerity and the power of her will. Once she has declared her determination to end child poverty, who could be so churlish as to point out that the children of the poor are still with us?

  Most of the polls we used to get were done by Roy Morgan Research.
  Up until the 2014 election they used to do 2 a month.
  In the period between 2011 and 2014 about 2 out of every 3 polls were by Roy Morgan.
  Between 2014 and 2017 they cut back to once per month and they did about half of all the polls.
  Now they don’t do any and the few that are done are New Zealand based.
  These are nearly as often, at least by Colmar Brunton but they certainly don’t make up for the regular Roy Morgan ones.
  All the polls are listed in section 1.2 of each of these articles. Just look at how many of them were Roy Morgan.

  I drove past when they were shutting down after a hard day picketing. It was 2 pm.

    What happens when a couple (each with double-banger surnames) want to name their children? Do they go “quadruple-banger”?
    
    The reason one surname has to be dropped (the wife’s by convention) is to avoid this kind of name accumulation.

      Yeah I’ve always thought this double barreled stuff was a nonsense. It’s a result of women being precious. A name, is a name, is a name. Your identity is not tied up in your name and if they thought logically they would realise that all through their family tree the women have changed their names. A friends daughter, with a very long double barreled name, got married last year and changed her surname to her husband’s four letter surname. She said it was a relief.

It looks very much like a trial, with poor ethical controls, in which children with psychological disorders are given puberty suppressing drugs, with clear negative effects and little or no positive effects.

Essentially, it’s institutionalised child abuse.

  I thought schools were supposed to encourage healthy lifestyle choices among their students, for example, “don’t smoke, don’t do drugs.”
  
  If it can be shown that homosexuals and transsexuals have statistically shorter lifespans than members of the ordinary population, then it would be logical for the schools not to promote homosexuality or transsexuality as a valid lifestyle option to young and impressionable children.

Got home just before midnite. My partner was still lying on the couch where i left him. Fully clotheed sound asleep mouth open and snoring. A greasy Hell pizza box and 4 dead soldiers on the coffee table beside him. I had a quick bath and sneeked into bed.
He was stiil there this morning. 🙁

I have had in place an automatic payment to the alumni appeal, with the next payment of $*** due on 19 March.
It has been reported today that the VUW Council is considering asking for a judicial review of the Minister’s decision to disallow a name change for the university. The fact that this action is even being considered suggests that the university has excess resources and considers itself free to waste them on this matter. Accordingly, I have cancelled my automatic payment.
I would be grateful if you would convey this to the Council and the Vice-Chancellor.

Mentioned this late yesterday in GD so probably missed but NZFirst has a survey on the CGT and people’s view on it. The way the questions are worded, there is no doubt in my mind that Winston is about to do one of the biggest flip flops in his career. I know there were many who voted for him here, so make your voices heard. Anyone can answer the survey, only takes a couple of minutes.
