Just wondering if Julie Ann Genter saw the old white men on TV1s Good Sorts last night, raising money for Fred Hollows foundation by chopping and selling firewood. Perhaps she will demand these guys “move on”, after all we need more young, coloured female wood choppers.
If she had kept watching she would then have seen on Country Calendar the old white man and his family milking cows, putting the milk in recyclable glass bottles and selling them locally. A very Green objective.
Then if she had kept watching she would have seen on Sunday the surgeon from Nelson who actually pays to be a volunteer to provide medical care to impoverished and desperate people in African countries, based aboard a Mercy ship. Guess what, the surgeon just happened to be pale male and stale.
Just a few examples of the contributions made by JAGs least favourite people. I wonder if she believes they should stop doing their great work and “move on”. If not she could perhaps swallow her pride and revisit that school where she disparaged old white men, apologise for her bigotry and acknowledge the huge contributions made by pale stale males.

        Of the other two, Belgium has fairly heavy land transfer taxes and Singapore has property taxes.
        
        Meanwhile NZ is just 48th in the world in GDP per capita, and 114th in the world in real growth (growth net of inflation) in GDP.

    Chuck Bird – that’s a very good question? The idea of charity is Christian. As it says in the Bible, “if you give so much as a cup of cold water to 1 of these little ones because he is my disciple then you will not lose your reward” (Matthew 10:42).
    The teaching about looking after fellow Christians was extended by the disciples who realised that the mission of faith and good works extended not just to the people of Israel, not just to fellow believers, but to our neighbours, whoever they may be.
    
    Muslims are supposed to look after other Muslims? People who are not Muslim, not so much.

        Freethinker – according to the Guardian “Saudi Arabia has been funding mosques in Europe that have become hotbeds of extremism”. So there is aid in a sense to fellow Muslims to build a mosque in western countries. But it does seem that Saudi Arabia in the process wants to overthrow western countries by establishing Islam as the main religion.

        Unfortunately Muslims are divided amongst themselves as to who are the true heirs of Mohammed – Sunni or Shiite. And they hate each other and much of the violence in the Islamic world stems from this division.
        
        I believe there is some charity in Islam? They are supposed to donate something like 2% of their income to help the poor among themselves.
        
        But as others have mentioned Muslims see the idea of helping non-Muslims as a bad thing. It is literally against their religion.

    I remember watching a series on Al Jeeza called Indian Hospital about a hospital in Bangalore that was able to use profits from treating well resoursed patients to provide free treatment to the desperately poor, which is another variation of the same thing.
    I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg.
    Colour, age or religious is not a factor for any of these people, I would have thought.

      Surely it is like the Moslems in Invercargill where funds have been made available – almost certainly from Saudi Arabia, for them to purchase the Freemason’s Hall.
      Sadly as a service organisation for hundreds of years there is now insufficient members to join the service provided by the Lodges. It is said that as they do not accept women members in New Zealand (or Australia or the UK) that they are almost no more.

I just wonder if Genter has seen all the big empty buses driving around our cities.
They are all empty
And the empty seats hidden by tinted windows.
No wonder they can’t get drivers, as there is no job satisfaction from driving an empty bus round all day.
We are paying for this via our taxes and our rates, and it also clogs up our roads with useless bus lanes.
Also using(wasting a lot of diesel.)

  Don’t worry though, the need will be for even more buses than currently, because of the weight displacement of the batteries, means each bus Carrie’s 8 fewer people than a conventional 12 metre bus.

  Same thing in ChCh and I question why use 17 Ton buses when Minivans as used as shuttles would be a better use of resources on suitable routes. Answer arseholes in the Regional Councils prefer to subsidize the corporates like Maori tribes who pay no taxes on profits so undercut private operators and now those same regional authoriteis like e-can want to appoint (not elcet) Maori to their boards which in Canterbury means the two reps normally elected and Ngai Tahu aligned will be joined by two more making 4 out of 16 members Maori aligned and far in excess of Maori population.         I’m fine with women playing rugby if that’s their choice, and I hope that those involved enjoy the game. But I’m coming to the end of my patience with women rugby commentators and comments people on TV becoming involved with men’s rugby in increasing numbers.
        
        Broadcasters in NZ seem to have decided that male and female rugby media people should be deployed in near-equal numbers, and the same for the ‘experts’ who provide special comments during breaks in play.   I think that relates to how the charges are calculated. Parliamentary Services charges out in full (fixed + variable) but Ministerial Services charges out variable only. The overall cost is the same, but reported differently. Or something like that, someone may have a better understanding of it than I.

Back in the day in Morrinsville, Cindy and her parents were out walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked Cindy what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted to be Prime minister someday.
Both of her parents, Liarbour Party members, were standing there with her, so I asked her,”If you were PM what would be the first thing you would do?”
She replied.. “I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.”
Her parents beamed with pride!
Wow… what a worthy goal!” I said . . . But you don’t have to wait until you’re PM to do that!”
What do you mean?” she replied.
So I told her, You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I’ll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house.
She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”
I said, “Welcome to the National Party…”
Her parents aren’t speaking to me anymore, but like Cindy, I don’t give a shit.

  I’d quite like to see this claim tested in court.
  
  Quite apart from the fact that lamb and beef mince looks and smells quite different, I’d like to see this man argue what ‘loss’ he has suffered and why all of this compensation for travel, accom and business losses is necessary.

    Oh dear, do I have to run off to the media to virtue signal… we have bought 3 packets of the wrong sized coffee capsules for our new machine from the supermarkets. Who knew that as well as the capsules that fit our particular brand machine, other coffee machine makers have a different pod size that is not interchangeable! The packets don’t appear to have different sizes noted on the packets. Yes I am out of pocket, but hey, live and learn. ?

  A few questions re the lifetyle block CGT:
  1. Can I put my business on the second acre? – If you currently own two acres, and you currently have a home business. You would want your house and acre 1 to be exempt from cgt so can no longer run my business from your home. So if you put a minor dwelling on the second acre away from your house which is subject to cgt anyways, can you then have acre 1 and your house tax free, and on acre 2 build a minor dwelling to run you business, and then deduct the minor dwelling and 2 acre of lands mortgage and business costs ? Who determines which area is the acre that goes with your house? Can I determine the shape? 2. Valuation – They’re also treating the second acre of land as if it’s the same value as the first. If you live in an area that is protected and can only build one house on a property, then the cost of 1 acre of land under your house is makes up almost the entire value of the land. The second acre is only marginally more in value. 3. Bush Sections – they are defining lifestyle blocks by acreage – so does that also include native bush sections. What about areas that council required to be planted in Natives, can we deduct that value. Going to be a lot of Greenies in the West, Waiheke who are going to have to put their money where their mouth is.

In her world if you own a home and have low debt levels you are the reason people in Manurewa are sleeping in cars, so you should be taxed heavily to redistribute to these people.

I hope the latte sippers of Epsom and Grey Lynn are happy with themselves, giving their party votes to the dumb tougher and her equally useless colleagues.

        Totally agree, Lance. I was meant to renew my membership last week but didn’t. Having been loyal to AirNZ for many years I now find they are not competitive so am flying on other airlines on good deals. It is way better to just pay a per visit fee and use the Strata Lounge in Auckland. The Koru Lounge is way too expensive, packed to the rafters and is no longer peaceful with kids running everywhere too. You may as well sit with the plebs out in the open.

We are probably in need of a new word – perhaps twyfordism, because Phil Twyford was notably the first doing it, where we are told more than one version of something, or similar things – like one story about 10 houses in Wanaka, and another about 20 in Pakakura – that just meld into one jumble of information and no one then has any idea what he has said – and more importantly: no fucking idea of what he is actually doing.

Shane Jones is the same with his trees: explaining who is growing them and how many – then an iwi is, and next that iwi isn’t.
And Twyford (again) is doing it with transport and infrastructure, particularly “light rail to Auckland airport”.
And Jami-Lee Ross too, with slightly differing confessions concerning his “mental meltdown”, which will eventually shift all blame from himself to everyone else.

But in terms of motivation, Twyford and Jones seem to be aiming at just obscuring everything so you can’t tell they have failed abysmally – that they haven’t met their stated targets. What targets – they were done away with about three versions ago – please, keep up!

And the Ardern idea of a “debate” to fill the two month vacuum following the Tax Working Group report back. I thought that was an utter mockery of her Waikato Uni Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) in politics and public relations, and another total lack of planning, but I realise now it is a further example of twyfordism.

It will allow her or Winston, or both, to ride in, out of the clouds of confusion, shooting down the trash Cullen identifies and leaving a simplified and watered down version of the skurge that Simon and the media are erecting, and we will be so grateful – marvelling at their brilliant translabourency, that we will agree to the legislation by voting them back into power and forgetting they were the ones to dump all this crap on us to start with.

      As I understand it, if hair loss is recent the root may still be alive and hair may regrow. I’m only speaking from my experience after having shingles and a bit of thinning. The Vit D definitely helped. The scalp apparently responds to vitamin C too. Thinning hair is common after sickness or the body being under considerable stress.

I hope this is the start of a genuine campaign because provided it is handled well National have a chance to tip Jacinda’s fiasco out simply due to her rabid CGT plans. 1. Seems a little unnecessary in NZ as the current regime is doing lots of and lots of absolutely nice feely unmeasured undefined things about climate change.

2. Like most (if not all) proposed actions against climate change this action is going to have little or no effect on climate change and the immediate costs by far outweigh the supposed long term reduction (if any) of carbon emissions.

3. Children would be far better served in continuing their education, focusing perhaps on cost benefit economics and resources allocation. This will have far more measurable tangible benefits to New Zealand and the world in being able to deal with the challenges of the future.

  Build a wind mill with dynamo.
  Build a hydro turbine, like in the down pipe from a roof.
  May be it might help with heating, like the school central heating, or swimming pool.

Kids would also do well to learn about things like:
– the regular occurrence of glacial cooling (ice ages) and their frequency (about 10000 years);
– the extent of the polar ice caps and their spread down to northern Europe, central Britain and middle USA, and their role in the creation of fjords ;
– the US dust bowl period of the 20s and 30s;
– the freezing of the Thames in winter in the 18th century;
– continental drift (plate movement) and the shift of the tropics;
– the constant movement of the earth’s alignment and the flipping of the poles;
– oil and coal being the result of the breakdown of plant material that grew in tropical climates (why is there coal deposits in Antarctica?);
– the loss of miles of the east coast of England through coast erosion
I could go on, but you will get the point. Few of these natural events had any input from mankind. I guess even modern teachers would struggle to explain the natural history of the earth. It has clearly become a forgotten topic in the last 10-20 years.

How is it that the things we learned in the 50s and 60s have become unacceptable today, yet all those things remain valid?

I am still trying to fathom why our corrupt media has got away with publishing articles for days on Alfred Ngaro when he was in Government on his abuse of power when he threatened to withdraw funds from a entity that was being critical of him and the Government. Now several days ago a Labour Minister threatened to do the same for criticism over animal safety in the Nelson fires with the media letting it slide after one day, I find this to be a absolute disgrace as they had great joy at trying to put Ngaro to the sword and have let the Agriculture Minister O’Connor have a free ride for the exact same type of comments. Our MSM are bias and a bunch of corrupt hypocrites.

I am hoping the failed MMP experiment will end at Election 2020. The disaster of Election 2017 when the 7% Party got to select the Government and the PM they wanted plus to impose their policies on the other 93% such as the Three Billion Dollar Election Bribe should be evidence enough to stop the minorities tyranny of the majority.

MMP was always about minorities controlling the majority nothing else.

Let hope we get back to democracy.

  Listening to a bit of late night talkback…. there was a rather agitated caller to Tony Amos last night who said he lived in Lower Hutt. He was saying there was some old bloke murdered and decapitated there recently. Reckoned the offender(s) played soccer in the street with his head. Amos cut him off a bit early – but sounded like he knew a lot about the mowdy gang problem down that way and the inability of the cops in being able to deal with it. Very worrying.

      The school is definitely not organising the strike nor is it taking any sort of stance on the issue. The email we sent out is [REDACTED] taking preemptive responsibility for the jurisdiction of our students. If parents do not email us, then we will expect those students to be in class under our jurisdiction.

They stated that there were far better things that students could do towards ameliorating climate change, and while they wouldn’t stop anybody from attending the strike protests, any student attending would be marked with an unexplained absence.

Brooke Loader is Shane Henderson’s partner. Shane is Current Chair of Henderson Massey and running for Councillor. What extra influence would she have on the Councillor if they were both elected. Would the other local board members get fair hearing. Will they declare that conflict upfront during the campaign ?

Fill your boots guys. Labour want you to tell them what they should do with your money.

Labour and New Zealand First are conducting online polls to gauge public opinion on a capital gains tax (CGT).

Labour is asking people to sign petitions via its website, either in support of or against a CGT.

  There’s an outfit at Te Hana, north of Wellsford, that’s been selling hangi meals & another in Doubtless Bay does a Sunday night feed.
  
  Haven’t tasted either so I can’t rate them but theoretically there’s bugger all wrong with steaming food……just so long as taste, palatability or flavour are not sought after qualities which they won’t be.
  
  Inclusiveness, anti-racism, equality & the sheer “Maoriness” of the crap will mask the deficiencies.
