Typical headlines that now swomp the media, but there is still one I have not seen, and I challenge anyone to produce a link or evidence that such a headline exists –

PRIME MINISTER JACINDA ARDERN CONFIRMS THAT THE POLICE ARE ACTIVELY INVESTIGATING THE ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT ‘SARAH’ CASE

Can anyone – the 19-year-old volunteer ‘Sarah’, any politician (not Davis), the Speaker, or the Police Commissioner – confirm whether the Police are investigating this particular alleged crime as detailed in the Spinoff.

PM says she found out allegation against party staffer was of a sexual nature only from reading media report
New Zealand Police have been contacted for comment. – the Guardian, UK [1]

Well, the Guardian and their international readers are not the only ones waiting for the New Zealand Police to comment.

Ardern, after telling resigned Labour President Haworth it was inappropriate for him to investigate a sex assault, is now setting terms of reference for her own inquiry, while kiwiblog host David Farrar points out it is –

513 days after “Sarah” informed someone working for Labour of her alleged sexual assault by a staffer in Jacinda Ardern’s office

– and the someone Sarah informed was solicitor Maria Berryman “who specialises in sexual abuse investigations” [2] and led the wide-reaching review into activities at the Labour summer camp 2018 – the first failed sex offence review with Ardern as Labour Leader.

  Kirton, the second-to-last Labour President, took about a month to tell Ardern of the summer camp assaults.
  
  This time, with Ardern claiming to have found out only last Monday, from the Spinoff article, the seriousness of the present controversy, it is utterly spectacular the number of people who have known of the alleged assault, but have not told her what she, in her position, should have known any case.
  
  In the first case (a month) and now even more so, (utterly more so apparently: 16 months, 22 days since Sarah told the Berryman inquiry), why has everyone avoided telling Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Labour Party Leader?
  
  Is there no greater way to indicate a lack of confidence in someone, than simply to not confide in them?

    Sofia raises an interesting point. Hanlon’s Razor states Never attribute to malice, that which can be attributed to incompetence.
    
    If Ardern was not informed (due to lack of confidence), it is because she is incompetent.
    
    If Ardern was informed – and did nothing – it is because she is malicious.

  I am not sure about New Zealand law, but if a crime is committed that is serious are the police not obliged to investigate whether the victim wants an investigation or not? this was attempted Rape. Rape in South Africa in the 70s carried the Death Penalty. It was considered a serious crime. What’s the situation here?

    A lawyer can correct me, but anyone can charge anyone with a crime. It does not have to be the victim and it does not have to be done via the police.
    
    The police will also consider their chances of securing a conviction. If the star witness of a rape (the victim) refuses to make a complaint and be a witness then they have a huge problem with evidence etc.
    
    But there also appear to be other crimes going on here, especially obstructing justice and witness tampering. No victim required. The cops should be investigating this.

  Irrelevant whether the Police would find enough evidence for a trial. Irrelevant even whether ‘Sarah’ was a National spy prepared to face charges of defamation by making false allegations (some Twitter idiots are claiming this).
  
  Ardern claimed that the first time she knew there were sexual assault *allegations* was via the Spinoff article.
  
  Either she is a disgusting liar and not fit to be PM.
  
  Or she was incompetently ignorant of allegations that were well known to her staff and the media – and is not fit to be PM.

  In February (2019), the party formally agreed to look into the staffer’s behaviour. This had to be signed off by its 22-member New Zealand Council. Ardern and deputy leader Kelvin Davis are both on the council, but have not responded to questions about whether they were party to the decision.
  
  Again Ardern (and Kelvin Davis) are donkey-deep in the “coverup” of pretending they (Ardern) didn’t know about it until a few days ago when Ardern supposedly first heard about it whilst reading The Spinoff (and as for Kelvin Davis who said two days ago in Parliament in te reo that these were all “rumors” well what a rape-culture enabling a**hole).
  
  C’mon it’s clear that Labour’s senior Minister’s (eg Robbo, Ardern, deputy Davis etc) knew for a long, long time that there were sexual assaults. This really is not a good look for them …

If Jacinda had just learnt of the degree of nastiness of the complaints on Monday, I would have expected her to be in with guns blazing trying to clear the rot from Labour.
But she isn’t. Her ducking and diving and hiding behind the useless men in Labour speaks volumes.
She’s only concerned with protecting her own patch.
She’s not a Leader.

Was it Mike Pence who said he never dines alone with any woman except his wife? Good starting point for sure, and National’s caucus would be well advised to extend it to any after hours meetings.

  Several points arise from that comment.
  For a start the horse has already bolted on that one.
  In the case of Labour it wasn’t the caucus members that perpetrated the assaults.
  Further the problems were how the Labour Party admin mishandled the allegations.

This has truly turned to s**t for Ardern.

Even this week, she was trotting out pics of her and her daughter to defuse impact of this.

To use a common phrase, ‘the reality is’.

She’s played the feminist role-model card to the hilt, the ‘working mum’ and has frequently used her daughter as an ‘off-spring’.

But it appears that she was complicit in the seediest type of power-play – allowing the exploitation of other women for some guy’s sexual gratification, because he was ‘too powerful’ to resist.

It reads like a like a sub-plot in The Handmaid’s Tale, or something out of ‘House of Cards’.

If there is to be a pivotal point at which history judges when Ardern crashed and burned, I think we are almost here.

      A 66-year-old man was beaten to death in front of his wife. She escaped being gang raped by saying that she had HIV.
      Bedridden Alice Lotter, 76, and her daughter Helen, 57 were tortured to death over several hours, including by being stabbed in the genitals with a broken glass bottle. One had one of her breasts removed while still alive. “Kill the Boer” was painted on the wall in their blood.
      Knowledge Mandlazi went on a killing spree in 2014, murdering five whites and stating that “My hate for white people made me rob and kill.” He held up his middle finger to surviving victims in the courtroom.

Heard a song on the radio today . It was called the “Sound of Silence”. It made me think of the panic emanating from the Peters selected Labour Party PM M/s Ardern.
Some of the words certainly hit home describing her attitude to the alleged sexual allegations made by some of her employees.

But it is not really hydrogen powered. Hydrogen is not really a fuel source.

Hydrogen is typically made in one of to ways:
1) Reaction of gas. Take natural gas (which is already a fuel) and through a complex and wasteful process, react it and remove the carbon, leaving the hydrogen, You would have done better to just burn the gas.
2) Electrolysis: take electricity and use that to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Again, wasteful, you’d do better to just use the electricity.

    To expand on this, my concern with EVs is the large batteries. Not only are they heavy but disposing of them when they wear out is a major problem with toxic waste. Heck, if the mad woman Genter gets her way, we’d have over a million batteries to get rid of in 15 years or so.
    If I understand it correctly Hydrogen cars use a smaller battery to transfer the electricity made and are lighter (more effeicient power to weight ratio too?)
    So granted that making Hydrogen is energy intensive and inefficient, isn’t avoiding using large toxic batteries make that worthwhile?

      There are two ways of using hydrogen as a fuel: burn it or in a fuel cell.
      
      When you burn hydrogen it is just using it as a fuel instead of petrol, natural gas, whatever in a piston engine or whatever and similar efficiencies apply. The burning creates power, water waste heat and nasty mixes of hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen similar to normal tailpipe output.
      
      The alternative is a fuel cell which reacts the hydrogen with oxygen and creates electrical power. Fuel cells are approx 50% efficient – the rest going into heat. The electricity then goes to regular EV circuitry (controller, motor etc), reducing efficiency further.
      
      All up, end to end hydrogen power is not at all efficient.

  cmm, it may be useful depending on engineering constraints. If it turns out to be easier and more economic to store the energy as H2 gas rather than as chemical energy in a battery, then Hydrogen may become a significant end use fuel.
  
  Creating H2 does of course involve losses as no process is loss free – pushing energy into a battery and extracting it again involves some losses. But all these storage mechanisms do rely on there being a plentiful energy supply – and at our current technological level that is best supplied by nuclear. Maybe that “energy source of the future – and always will be” – fusion – will become feasible, but until then nuclear in its more modern “failsafe” designs would seem to be the only obvious choice.
  
  BTW, there was a recent report of an interesting process involving CH4 (Natural gas’s major component) – by using some clever catalysts the proponents claimed to be able to extract H2 and C (as pure carbon able to be turned into high value forms like carbon fibre) separately. That might be a viable and non-carbon emitting (as CO2) process, however it was lab scale only and not very efficient – yet.

    Also to note that H2 as an energy store has several serious flaws that need good engineering solutions to be truly viable. First it is very difficult to store efficiently as it (especially in gaseous form) “leaks” through anything because of its very small molecular size and if cooled to become liquid it requires extremely low temperatures – and it still leaks. Second it can form spontaneously combustible mixtures with air – at certain concentrations H2 will explode without needing an initiating spark or flame.

    No matter the cleverness, various bonds have to be broken and that requires (or wastes) energy. You want carbon for nanotubes etc – well it is all over the place. Getting hold of carbon for industrial use is not much of a problem and often CO2 is a useful form.

  San Francisco has, unsurprisingly, a high adoption rate for hybrid cars, especially the Toyota Prius. The podcast looked at the success of the Prius and concluded that Toyota quite brilliantly gave the Prius a unique shape and look. It is favourite among virtue signallers because it is so obviously a “green” choice.
  
  The podcast also mocked the San Francisco residents who live on the South side of their streets, but who position their solar panels on the North side (the shady side in the Northern hemisphere) of their roofs. Why have solar panels if no one can see that you have solar panels?

The rat-bone evidence for an earlier arrival of rats as a marker for humans has been overturned by new analysis of new material from the same site shows no dates before around 1250-1300 CE. Labour don’t care about people. They only care about the baubles of office, one of which appears to be sexual assault!

Labour tries to smother victims, either by driving them out or by promising very lengthy investigations to keep things in-house and then whitewashing the results.

Of course, it is an unsustainable policy because the perpetrators get so bold that the sheer number of victims cannot be contained.

And Jacinda is the lead wolf! The buck has to stop with her, because regardless of the technical separation between the labour party machine and the labour leader, people tend to consider them one and the same.

Speaking of chickens coming home to roost.
Ex Deputy Dir of the FBI, ( and CNN Contributor!) Andrew McCabe has been told by the DOJ he won’t avoid charges. His lawyers had appealed that he wouldn’t be. He’ll be indicted soon. The first of many no doubt.
On the other side, General Michael Flynn’s Hearing is turning into a major problem for Muellers Prosecutors.
It’s clear they withheld exculpatory evidence and fitted him up. Amongst many things it seems Flynn told the DIA about all his foreign meetings BEFORE he actually went and they were okayed, there’s an DOJ memo clearing him, and he passed a Lie Detector test before his Security Clearencevwas renewed.
All docs confirming this were withheld.
The Judge, Emmett Sullivan is getting really pissed about it.
It’s shaping up that the charges will be voided and the Prosecutors themselves investigated.

  On the flip side, the grand jury was recalled to consider these “charges” and left the building without any charges being filed. And the IG report said that McCabe’s actions were a violation of FBI policy but were not criminal.
  
  Let’s wait and see.
  
  In the meantime the House has just voted to formalise an impeachment inquiry, with hearings to begin next week. In Watergate it took 9 months from this point to Nixon resigning. Pro tip: Watch the court cases about the House subpoenas to Mazar and Deutsche Bank.

      The Mazars and Deutsche Bank subpoenas are still very much alive. The lower courts found in favour of the House. Trump (not Mazars or DB) appealed. The appeals have been heard but not decided on yet.       You’re right in that McCabe’s charges haven’t been disclosed yet. But the IG report into McCabe found no crimes, just breaches of policy. So it will be interesting to see if Jesse Liu has any cards in his hand or not. But Liu threatening to prosecute McCabe who is a potential witness against the Trump transition is broken justice.
      
      FWIW, there’s more evidence for impeachable offences against Trump than there was against Nixon. But Nixon didn’t have Moscow Mitch running the Senate. The Senate Republicans know that Trump obstructed justice, is corrupt etc but they feel they have no choice but to stick with him. I think the House Dems know they have to prove Trump is compromised in a national security sense before the Senate Republicans will begin to peel off.

        Listen, there’s far more good evidence that ties the Clinton campaign to Russian Intelligence and to Ukrainian sources than any that ties Trump or Mitch McConnell “might” have. Or are you still delusional enough to think that the Steele Dossier contained some nuggets of truth ?
        
        And what impeachable offenses can they claim ? Conspiracy or coordination with Russians Nope (unlike the hard evidence of the DNC and Clinton conspiring with the Ukrainians via Alexandra Chalupa – a DNC employee who the Ukrainians have admitted they were working with), Obstruction of Justice – hard to make this stick legally when the investigation itself was baseless and started as a soft coup against a legitimately elected POTUS.         Impeachment processes depend on a vote by the house itself, not by a committee, using “Lawfare” as a source is not reliable. What Nadler is doing is trying to sound like he’s starting the impeachment process without actually starting one – because he knows he would again lose the vote to do so in the house. It is a purely spiteful piece of partisanship to appease their radical base. Also Nadler is facing a primary challenge from a leftists so is trying to talk “tough”.

      I’ll add that I’ll be a little surprised if McCabe does eventually get charged with anything because once he’s charged then his defence lawyers get discovery.
      
      I doubt Trump, Barr, Liu, or anyone else in the DoJ would want McCabe to have discovery rights, or to have a forum (the Court) where he could put his own side of the story out in his defence.

        He’s going to be charged, and will be convicted and do time. What won’t happen is that he will be arrested by 40 armed FBI agents who will call at 5 am accompanied by Fox News reporters, unlike Roger Stone.
        
        The current charges only relate to McCabe lying about his actions in regard to FBI investigations of the Clinton campaign and (a new revelation) a simultaneous investigation into the Clinton foundation. He’ll be further on the hook for his actions in relation to Flynn, the FISC applications, and his attempted soft coup on Trump where treason may be charged.
        
        Discovery won’t be an issue, unlike the Obama administration, nothing the Trump administration has done looks so far to have been illegal.
        
        McCabe is just the first, there are a lot of people like Comey, Yates, Lynch, Strzok, Page, Rice, Ohr, and others who are now all really hoping that McCabe doesn’t cut a deal to tell all he knows. They’re already in severe jeopardy, McCabe spilling what he knows would finish them.

Misuses and abuses her power. How many of her former staffers have stories to tell about her. And how many staffers has she “lost” . I beat the churn rate is horrendous.

Treatment of Maori v WW1 Soldiers in regards to Free Pardons.

New Zealand Parliament has, on a limited number of occasions, passed Acts that provide for statutory pardons. Five soldiers in “The Great War” were pardoned in 2000. Te Whakatōhea Rangatira Mokomoko was pardoned by the Governor General in 1992, and in 2013 Parliament passed an Act which specifically restored and the character, mana, and reputation of Mokomoko and his descendants. In 2014 Kereopa Te Rau was pardoned for his role in the death of Reverend Volkner (in 1865). The latest is the Rua Kēnana Pardon Bill.

The Act pardoning the five soldiers noted that “their execution was not a fate that they deserved but was one that resulted from— (a) the harsh discipline that was believed at the time to be required; and (b) the application of the death penalty for military offences being seen at that time as an essential part of maintaining military discipline”. The purpose of the Act was “to remove, so far as practicable, the dishonour that the execution of those 5 soldiers brought to those soldiers and their families”. There is no apology as such.

The Ngāti Rangiwewehi Claims Settlement Act 2014 simply states “Kereopa Te Rau is pardoned for his role in the death of Reverend Volkner”. No further details are given, probably because he was alleged to have eaten the missionary’s eyes. I wonder what the Volkner family think of this pardon.

The Mokomoko Act “expresses the Crown’s regret for any ongoing shame or stigma this has caused for his uri [descendants]… and restores the character, mana, and reputation of Mokomoko and the character, mana, and reputation of his uri”. Mokomoko had been of tried and executed for the murder of Carl Sylvius Volkner.

Which brings me to the current Bill, the Rua Kēnana Pardon Bill. Kēnana was convicted of “moral resistance” to arrest for failing to turn up to court on selling alcohol without a licence charges. For details read the Bill. The Bill states “The Crown unreservedly apologises to the descendants of Rua Kēnana and Ngā Toenga o ngā Tamariki a Iharaira for—(a) the lasting damage to the character, mana, and reputation of Rua Kēnana, his uri, and Ngā Toenga o Ngā Tamariki o Iharaira; (b) the deep hurt, shame, and stigma suffered by them as a result of the invasion of Maungapōhatu” [when 70 armed police went to arrest Kēnana]. “This pardon is provided to Rua Kēnana for the conviction he sustained for moral resistance to arrest. The restoration of the character, mana, and reputation of Rua Kēnana, his uri, and Ngā Toenga o Ngā Tamariki o Iharaira Faith is declared.”

For the soldiers, a statement that it was the times, no apology, and a “desire” that the dishonour on the soldiers and families is removed. With the Maori pardons, a grovelling apology, and a “declaration” that mana and reputation has been restored.

To clarify my post on GD yesterday where I got 37 downticks for criticising Simon for his interview in China I have also said the same about Labour.

IMHO we are getting too close to the Chinese Communist Party.Not the Chinese people so no racist attacks please. The Chinese who have come to NZ in most cases have fled that regime.

However I believe some have come here for other purposes and have ingratiated themselves into our 2 main political parties in an attempt to curry favour for the regime back home.

Just as a good business person avoids buying and selling from one source in order to derisk their business NZ Inc should avoid being too reliant on one trading partner. Think China V USA.

I have always been concerned that NZ is putting its eggs in one basket.

As a small trading nation we need to have an many ‘friends’ as we can to avoid the fallout if any of them fallout with each other.

    China’s richest man, Jack Ma (of Alibaba fame), is a member of the Communist Party. You can bet many of the rich Chinese who have moved to New Zealand have been party members.
    
    NZ’s strategy of bringing in rich people generally as entrepreneurs has disappointed. We’ve had brothers who have established a brothel-based property empire, for example, and our property markets haves become much more active.
    
    But our critical exports have not been noticeably helped. Exports as a proportion of GDP have failed to improve. We have come to depend on China taking about a quarter of our exports, and these have overwhelmingly remained agricultural commodities.
    
    The Communist rich are looters, and despise democracy, as the uprising in Hong Kong shows.

During the 2017 election campaign a Morrinsville farmer protesting against Labour’s election policies held up a sign that said of Ardern “She’s a Pretty Communist” (and got a lot of stick from Ardern’s supporters and the media etc).

Ardern, technically may not be a “communist”, but her methods of re-writing history (her supposedly not knowing of the sexual assaults), her protection of the (Labour) Party and its “friends” and her putting the Party above the interests of the people (complainants) would surely be admired by Communism’s great leaders.

So I think the Morrinsville farmer, who held the Ardern protest sign up in 2017, has been pretty much vindicated!

This has been run by a veteran journalist on his own, and has been an excellent source of news during the last year or two, a tiem which included the mosques massacre another planned massacre by a young Muslim, various racism incidents and extremely varied sentencing.

It was a hopeful sign of how impartial news coverage might continue after the internet has taken down the last print newspaper.

The Labour Party’s plan to reform the criminal justice system would mean that the accused in a rape case would have to prove consent to be found innocent — a change it acknowledges as a monumental shift.

But Labour’s justice spokesman Andrew Little said the current system is broken and in need of a major shake-up. The party favours an inquisitorial system, where a judge interviewed the alleged victim after conferring with prosecution and defence lawyers.

The policy would mean that in a rape case, if the Crown proved a sexual encounter and the identity of the defendant, it would be rape unless the defendant could prove it was consensual.

“But when you look at the volume of sexual violence cases and the 1 per cent of cases that result in a conviction, there is something wrong with the way we are handling sexual violation cases. The circumstances may well justify doing something radically different.”

Im surprised that no one has raised the Health and Safety in Employment Act 2015.
This covers both employees and volunteers in an organisation.

In short it states that the person in charge of a work place has a duty to keep employees and volunteers safe. That mean safe from all harm by whoever.

This includes matters of a sexual nature.

Good governance and management principles also state that there must be a clear line of communication within any organisation.

So the Management report to the Governance. It would appear to me that the person titled the Leader of any organisation is part of the Governance structure so therefore that person cannot claim to have no association with the organisation in that respect.

The Lawyers can correct me but it seems to me that person would be deemed to have knowledge of any matter that they should of had knowledge of even if they didnt have knowledge.

Its a bit like telling the cops you didnt see the 50K sign when you were do 100K.

Its doesnt wash. You are guilty.

  Men who suffocate/strangle/restrict the breathing of women are a time bomb. Restricting a woman’s breathing is both terrifying for the victim, and an expression of control. And if the behaviour keeps up, there is a high chance of a fatal incident.
  
  I respect her decision not to do so, but if she had gone to the police that night, this guy may have been nailed because there may have been forensic evidence to back her story. With latest technology, it does not take much.

That History is to become a compulsory subject in schools, is seen by some as being an intended distraction announcement by the Labour Government to divert attention from some of their present controversy, which if one looks at the handling of the matter – a promulgation of an inquiry, when the issue arises because, in part, evidence presented to an earlier related inquiry has been obviously been ignored – which demonstrates the Government has just totally failed to learn from history.

Did I express that right? Do you get it – how fucking ironic this is?
Or entertaining? It may be the only funny thing about this whole mess.

    I went to school with both Boucher and Keith Lyons (well not Boucher as she went to Villa, but around same years). Keith had the great luxury of living right across the road so could roll out 5′ before first bell. He was a nice enough guy but somewhere along the way he’s got the ClimateFever™ in a big way.
    
    Sinead on the other hand, freely admitted publicly she only got her first London job by turning up to someone’s else’s interview. She also freely admitted to being “a bit of a handful” at Villa, but then who wasn’t. Reports were full of “must try harder” and “does ok when here”.

  The point of the investigation is PR and damage control:
  We held an investigation and we found nussing.
  
  The trusting people believe them and move on.
  
  However, their trust is blown, people know there is a cover up. Whatever the investigation shows will not be believed.
  
  And the bigger question looms? Why no criminal investigation by cops? Are gangs also allowed to run their own internal investigations when someone is caught selling drugs?

        At this stage, despite the public outrage, the alleged incident is an allegation.

      Trouble is Labour won’t just be using emails etc, they’ve previously said they use social media apps (which can’t be “recorded/archived etc”) so me-thinks Labour offering to have computer forensics examinations won’t result in finding any emails (between the Labour Exec) detailing sexual assaults … which is exactly what they want, to “exonerate” them (because they either verbally or via SM apps “discussed” it via these non-traceable mediums).         There are many new utes and tractors all over the province.

How could a register of firearms have any effect on the hundreds ( if not thousands ) of firearms held by unlicensed people ?

These unlicensed people might be (a) honest and law-abiding but simply non-licensed, or (b) they may be druggies, crooks, gang-members, gang-wannabees, whatever.

But these latter are hardly going to admit to holding illegal firearms.
So what is the point of this proposed new law?

Just another stupid, reactionary Labour-Party-led “govt” decision, to make some sort of statement.

Saw a few hundred children, accompanied by their teach- sorry, brainwashers – walking along Lambton Quay this morning. A “Maori Language” thing apparently.

This got me thinking on how it might be possible to start “rolling back” and fixing the damage done to our country by the Left (started by Dutschke and his followers).

It would be *great* if the Nats did a “How did it get to this?” campaign ad that mentioned Dutschke and what he urged the Left to do (and he was *completely successful*).

“Schools, universities, media, councils, government – all controlled by the Left! How did it get to this?” Cue a 30-second-or so clip of Dutschke and what he did.

Any Nats media folks out there? How about it?

Hmmm…… I wonder if a “phone app” of some kind that did much the same thing would be a good idea. It would need to somehow be *instantly* attention-grabbing and I don’t know how that could be done.
If an awesome phone app (or even a *game* – “Stop Dutschke!”, say) – could be “put out there” – such a thing would be a *really good start* to informing the masses of what the Left have done to our society.

I’m thinking along the lines of the populace “inoculating” themselves against Leftist BS. A phone app would be **perfect** for that!
