So Claire Curran is having a big sob story to the papers about how she is a victim of dirty politics. And the reporters who have the memory capability of goldfish, print it verbatim. Well, boo hoo. Before she became a MP, Claire destroyed the reputation and employment of quite a few public servants with nasty and vindictive actions. And she continued with it when she got a seat. If there has been dirty politics against her, then I would say it is just deserts for a poisonous person. Parliament will be better without her. .

  I have little sympathy for Curran CJ, because she’s complaining about the very behaviour she herself indulged in.
  
  During the 2011 election campaign, she and Trevor Mallard were running Labour’s Red Alert blog. She used the “nek minit” line to attack John Key. I responded with a comment along the lines of “Phil Goff was part of a Cabinet that sold more state assets than any before or since; nek minit”. Labour of course was running a strong no asset sales campaign, fronted by Goff, who of course was in Labour’s 1984-1990 Cabinet.
  
  I was immediately banned, along with a comment from Curran that I was abusive, and a liar. I had no recourse, but a number of Red Alert regulars, including some hardcore Labour supporters, came to my defence. Curran could have relented, but instead doubled down and repeated the allegations, without providing any examples of my so-called crimes.
  
  Those who know me know that I am reasonably mild-mannered, and not generally prone to abuse. I pretty much wrote the incident off to experience, but have not forgotten it. When the PM made Curran Minister for Open Government, I had a chuckle, because I knew it would end in tears, and it has.
  
  Clare Curran wrote a paper to the Labour Party many years ago about the importance of owning the language. Even at the end of her pretty average political career, she is still trying to rewrite history to present herself as the victim. In truth, she was totally ill-suited to the role, and was the author of her own demise.

    Tony, I doubt that the news media will be remotely interested in pointing out that Curran brought much on herself. It is more interested in publishing the likes of Ross’s self-serving apology ( https://www.newshub.co.nz/home.html).
    Perhaps people need to be reminded that National gave her a grilling because despite her promise of open government, she not only acted secretively but also covered up to the point of being so hopelessly compromised that she had a melt-down.
    
    While it was sad to see someone so obviously humiliated, I wonder where she would have been today had she openly acknowledged her meetings with Handley when first asked and included them in her OIA disclosure. Same with Colin Moyle. Had he simply said “Yes, so what?” to Muldoon, what would have happened.
    Peters might have been able to carry that off but he has the hide of a rhino,
    Ardern does not come out of this well, not that you will ever read about it again. She sat back and watched Curran self destruct and then misled over her resignation. She should have intervened before that last session in the House. I have always wondered that Curran’s major issue was not the fact that she had been exposed but that Ardern was doing exactly the same thing (private and undisclosed communications with someone known to be a friend) and yet came out unscathed. Was Curran the sacrificial lamb to protect her leader?
    
    It happened again, didn’t it? Haworth was the sacrificial lamb who had to go.
    
    Clark was an obvious weak link. He was clearly struggling with his portfolio, yet he was sidelined and left to struggle on until it started looking bad for his leader and her party. Then, he had to go.

  Remember back in about 2007 there was an attempt by Labour to overtly take over control of the Environment Ministry. David Parker and Mallard got into a lot of trouble. A lady was bullied out of her job and Labour employed an “independent” contractor to take over called Clare Curran. It was later rulled that Labour didn’t declare a conflict of interest around Ms. Curran. The lady who lost her job later took Mallard to court for defamation and won damages in 2011. Clare Curran seems to have a short memory.

    It will be changed by stealth. We are firmly on that trajectory. Check out the websites of Government agencies – most of them now have their Maori name in large bolded letters with the english name in small faint lettering. Last week NZTA changed all its branding and its signs on buildings:

    I should not have been surprised but I still did a double take as I was walking past their head office while visiting Wellington.
    
    I guarantee that you could ask people what the Maori name is and 99% could not tell you. It will always be known as NZTA, including by the vast majority of Maori. Thefore this change, is by definition, virtue signalling. Changing the name of your organisation to something that nobody can remember or pronounce is pointless.
    
    Of course in the real world where branding matters fore commercial reasons this would never happen. Is Air New Zealand going to chnage its name to “Wakarere Aotearoa”? Not a chance because it would threaten the business. Of course Golriz would be ecstatic.

  There is real slavery, just as there is real racism, sexism and human rights abuse. I remember when

Watching the Acting US Attorney Audrey Strauss on TV talking about the Ghislaine Maxwell arrest.
They certainly don’t allow for the possibility of any presumption of innocence.
It should be easy to get a jury that don’t already have an opinion as to her guilt.

  It is said that considerable sums of money have been paid to the prostitutes Lawyers to keep their clients out of it.
  Remember being the USA predominantly it is only Money, and that is what the Lawyers love.

      I watched the James Patterson documentary on Epstein. I thought it odd that the same 2 photos of Trump were being continually weaved through the documentary. I later found out that Patterson and Bill Clinton are close friends so quite clearly the documentary was an attempt to shift the focus away from Clinton.

  He described Ms Maxwell as “slithering” off to hide in a sumptuous mansion.
  Obviously minds made up there about this woman.

        He is doing his job. This has nothing to do with justice being blind. It is up to the court and those hearing the case to be impartial, it is up to this man and those who work for him to show this woman’s guilt.
        
        Btw for anyone who hasn’t noticed this case is being run by New York’s Public Corruption Unit. This is not the norm. Epstein’s case was run by them as well.

    If you believe any of the hundreds of women who have made complaints about Epstein and Maxwell, she’s going to go away for a long time. However everyone’s entitled to due process, and it staggers me how incredibly prejudicial statements are made by the prosecutors ahead of any trial.
    
    If you’ve seen “Making of a murderer” you’ll know what I mean. Also glad I don’t live in the US.

    Remember that for an Indictment to be issued that the Prosecutors must present evidence to a Grand Jury- who weigh and measure that.
    If you read the Indictment against her, the evidence is pretty compelling about her role in procuring girls for Epstein and presumably others.
    Then there is the evidence of (literally) tens of millions of dollars cycled through her Bank accounts.
    The trail of where that came from and where it went will be interesting.
    I’m amazed she came back. She was rumoured to be in France and reportedly holds a French Passport. She is British of course. She could have done a ‘Roman Polanski’ and just stayed there.
    She certainly had the money.
    Has she cut a Plea Bargain deal?

  Sadly, such behaviour has become a world wide trend. Strip education and intelligence from society and society becomes unstable and right for aspirational take-over by those with a desire for communist/socialist style rule.
  Our own environment is currently being prepared for such by deliberately dumbing down our schools and universities along with an enabling media who see themselves having an honoured position at the top table as did Pravda in the USSR. IMHO, Claire Curran was grooming our major media outlets for such an event. Now, we have Cindy and Co. controlling media and thus public opinion using taxpayer money to finance favoured media.

They have been taking money off Auckland water users ever since they (Watercare) were created for such a purpose.   I’m not saying it’s good – but it’s entirely possible this information was in a (non-password) spreadsheet that was emailed to a number of people at once (internally in the Min of Health) – and an external email address was added in error (you know how names are autofilled sometimes). It may have then found its way to the media

      Dad wasn’t one of those that didn’t want to talk about his wartime experiences and I suppose because of that we just took it as part of his life, but being a POW was far from a normal life. It’s a prison sentence of indeterminate length.
      Here was amongst large numbers of Kiwi soldiers rounded up in Greece and sent by rail to Germany. He told me he’d never been so hungry in his life & he saw his mates fighting over scraps of food. It left him with a lifelong loathing of kids’ lolly scrambles.

  As the Allies advanced the Germans removed key POW’s (eg Air Force officers) and marched them eastwards until they came up against the Russians. The likes of Stalag Luft 3 (the Luft meant Air Force prisoners) were relatively comfortable compared with that. Then they were in the care of the Russians until the Allies took control of them and arranged repatriation. And then the Baby Boom started.

        I have criticized her too when she stepped out of the bounds of Microbio/infectious disease and into politics, without clearly stating that when it comes to e.g. MAGA hats she’s not an expert, this is just the musing of a private citizen. Much the same as I muse about things with you guys on this board, but only speak in the press or to other public groups if my expertise backs up my public statements. But resorting to ad hominem attacks on her hair, weight etc is vile.         A number of us on KB were warning that things were going to get serious here… at the time that Siouxie Wiles was writing/stating that NZ had nothing to worry about.
        
        Stephieboy (SB2) even accused me of being hysterical…clearly unaware that some of us knew about the parlous state of our testing facilities and PPE back in early March.
        
        Siouxie Willes has added to public confusion at times by being against masks, by attacking other experts, by disagreeing that testing as well as 14 days quarantine was needed.
        
        She has on other occasions provided good clear advice and background.
        
        (The trouble for the lay person is separating her opinion/political bent from the good information)
        
        Her public role has never been clarified… Is she an official advisor to the PM (The PM has quoted Siouxie Wile’s advice in Parliament)?
        
        We, the public, have been clearly told that official advice comes via the Health Dept/Covid-19 Govt site.
        
        So unless someone clarifies Siouxie Wile’s role as a media spokesperson on Covid-19, confusion, not clarity, reigns.

  Big difference between paying tax on bank interest and paying 1% on the value of your property.
  
  If I earn 3% on $400,000 in the bank I pay tax at my tax rate on $12,000. That could be 10.5% of $12,000 or $1,260 if I am retired and have no other income. With the proposed risk-free rate of return tax I would have to pay $4,000 every year if I was retired and had no other income.
  
  btw, I already pay property tax. Do you have to be taxed twice for the same property?

A colleague was telling a group of us last night how an employee has asked for a substatial loan to fund elective surgery privately as the need is now becoming urgent.
Seems this has been accentuated by the now preferential treatment listings being accorded Maori/Pasifika, even when they are unemployable, many having never worked or paid taxation.
Seems we are in for some fairly entertaiing times as this man’s employer is not taking this disgusting abuse of power and racist behaviour lying down!

I’ve been reading about the terrifying pandemic that is sweeping through the world and is nearing out-of-control end-of-the-world proportions.

I can certainly see what everyone is afraid of. The state of Victoria, for example, has had a catastrophic TWENTY deaths out of a population of 6.36 MILLION. That’s 0.0003% of their population! OMG!

The UK is much worse though, with a massive 0.07% death toll and some epidemiologists there have done AI modelling studies indicating that this plague is almost as bad as the death toll from global warming which is currently also ravaging our world.

What are we to do? It’s so frightening… why aren’t our leaders acting decisively on this? Why are people still being allowed to have their own businesses, their own lives and, worst of all, their own thoughts and opinions?

Obviously shutting down whole countries and economies isn’t enough. Maybe we should should start putting people in camps where they can can be looked after by robots. That might be the answer…..

  On reflection, I realise how silly that sounds about putting people in camps. Obviously it would be unworkable because you’d have to have REALLY BIG camps to accommodate everybody. Sorry.

There are actually more Kiwis already dead from suicide or delayed diagnosis because of the illegal lockdown – instituted because the Burqa Queen had a panic attack after talking to her London buds. Woodhouse never asserted the truth of the allegation. He couldn’t because he was not there. He always asserted that he had been told by someone whom he regarded as a reliable source that the incident occurred. from memory the source was in the Health Dept and was someone who would reasonably be expected to know.

You seem to forget that Woodhouse had the temerity to say that he had also been told that the two women granted compassionate leave got lost, met up with friends, gave a them a cuddle and headed off, only to be told that the incident never occurred, and if it did, it wasn’t a cuddle but a fleeting touch. Look what that led to! Bloomfield goes under the bus. Military is called in. Rules are revised. Clark goes. Confidence plummets.

Long but funny,
The electric fence and the lawnmower..
We have a 6 ft. Square tube and welded wire fence in the front yard, and last Saturday, when I heard some thieving Punks might be bringing their BS out to the country, I wanted to make sure they ran into a little resistance before meeting my Kimber 9mm, so I got an electric fence and ran a single wire along the top of the fence.

Actually, I got the biggest cattle charger Tractor Supply had, made for 12.5 miles of fence. I then used an 8 ft. long ground rod, welded a 1/2 masonry bit to a piece of round rod, and sunk the ground rod 7.5 feet into the limestone..The ground rod is the key, with the more you have in the ground, the better the fence works.

On Wednesday my idiot neighbors hired another idiot to trim all their oak trees, yes in June, so now they will all probably die of oak wilt but that’s a whole other story, and one of the limbs came crashing down on top of my fence leaving the main wire down in the yard. So yesterday I’m mowing the yard with my 5 hp Briggs and Stratton push mower. I knew for a fact that I unplugged the charger so I pushed the mower around the wire and reached down to grab it, to throw it out of the way.

Well my sweet little wife had seen that the fence was unplugged and thought one of the dogs had accidentally done it, so she plugged it back in “for me”….How very thoughtful of her.

Now I’m standing there, I’ve got the running lawnmower in my right hand and the 1.21 giga-volt fence wire in the other hand. Keep in mind the charger is about the size of a marine battery and has a picture of an upside down cow on fire on the cover.

Time…….stood……..still……….

The first thing I notice is my pecker trying to climb up the front side of my body. My ears curled downwards and I could feel the lawnmower ignition firing in the backside of my brain. Every time that Briggs & Stratton rolled over, I could feel the spark in my head. I was literally at one with the engine.

It seems as though the fence charger and damn lawnmower were fighting over who would control my electrical impulses.

Science says you cannot poop, pee, and vomit at the same time. I beg to differ. Not only did I do all three at once, but my bowels emptied 3 different times in less than half of a second. It was a Matrix kind of bowel movement, where time is creeping along and you’re all leaned back and BAM BAM BAM you just shit your pants 3 times. It seemed like there were minutes in between but in reality it was so close together it was like exhaust pulses from a HEMI turning 8 grand.

At this point I’m about 30 minutes (maybe 2 seconds) into holding onto the fence wire. My hand is wrapped around the wire palm down so I can’t let go. I grew up on ranches so I know all about electric fences … but Grandpa always had those piece of shit chargers made by International or whoever that were like 9 volts and just kinda tickled.

This one I could not let go of. The 8 foot long ground rod is now accepting signals from me through the solid limestone rock. At this point I’m thinking I’m going to have to just man up and take it, until the lawnmower runs out of gas.

‘Damn!,’ I think, as I remember I just filled the tank!

Now the lawnmower is starting to run rough. It has settled into a loping run pattern as if it had some kind of big lawnmower race cam in it. Covered in poop, pee, and with my vomit on my chest I think ‘Oh God please die …. Pleeeeaze die’. But nooooo, it settles into the rough lumpy cam idle nicely and remains there, like a big bore roller cam engine waiting for the go command from it’s driver’s right foot.

So here I am in the middle of June , 104 degrees, 80% humidity, standing in my own front yard , begging God to kill me. God did not take me that day …. he left me there covered in my own fluids to writhe in the misery my own stupidity had created.

I honestly don’t know how I got loose from the wire ….

I woke up laying on the ground hours later. The lawnmower was beside me, out of gas. It was later on in the day and I was sunburned.

There were two large dead grass spots where I had been standing, and then another long skinny dead spot where the wire had laid while I was on the ground still holding on to it. I assume I finally had a seizure and in the resulting thrashing had somehow let go of the wire.

Upon waking from my electrically induced sleep I realized a few things:

1 – Three of my teeth seem to have melted.

2 – I now have cramps in the bottoms of my feet and my right butt cheek (not the left, just the right).

3 – Poop, pee, and vomit when all mixed together, do not smell as bad as you might think.

4 – My left eye will not open.

5 – My right eye will not close.

6 – The lawnmower runs like a sumbitch now. Seriously! I think our little session cleared out some carbon fouling or something, because it was better than new after that.

7 – My nuts are still average size yet they are almost a foot long.

8 – I can turn on the TV in the bedroom by farting while thinking of the number 4 (still don’t understand this???).

Yesterday changed my life.
I now have a newfound respect for things.
I appreciate the little things more, and now I will always triple check to make sure the fence is unplugged before I mow.

The good news, is that if someone does try to come over the fence, I can clearly visualize what my security system will do to him, and THAT gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over, which will also remind me to triple check before I mow.

  hmmm… All the electric fences that I have ever dealt with pulse the current to avoid exactly that situation (i.e., the current switches on and off to give the recipient a chance to move away).

A woman who tried to escape from a managed isolation facility in Auckland is now in police custody.

The 43-year-old woman absconded from the Pullman Hotel on foot shortly before 6.20pm last night and was located soon after a couple of blocks away at 8pm on Anzac Avenue.

The five police officers who came into contact with the woman while capturing her must now have Covid-19 tests will also have to self-isolate.

Her snarky, hectoring, head rotating (think The exorcist) and “I’m explaining to an idiot” attitude was un.be.lievable!!! Jack Tame looked horrified, maybe he has at last seen that his hero is all bullshit. I was astonished. It seemed like the desperate attempts for survival of a drowning woman.   Three cases were announced today. They all came from Singapore.
  One before that was from Oz & two before that America.
  By definition they were all NZ citizens, PR or had some sort of special exemption to travel here.
  
  I used to work in Thailand and two times had to leave the country forthwith because my job was deleted & my visa along with with it.
  In less fraught times arrangements can be made to fly to a third country, obtain another type of long term visa & return, but these are not normal times.
  So unless you have been leaked the full details of who these people are you don’t know who they are, why they’re abroad & why they’re returning.

A couple of mid-afternoon observations:

1. A woman escaped from isolation in Auckland and was recaptured by police over 90 minutes later. The army show-pony, who affects the nickname Digby, said “This was excellent work by police staff who located the woman as quickly as possible. She was located outdoors. The exact movements of the woman are still being determined.”

What he didn’t say is how this person escaped the facilities under his watch. I guess he uses the same spin doctors as the ones that came up with the “team of 5 million” BS.

2. Three more COVID cases in New Zealand today, all of whom travelled to New Zealand on the same flight from (OOPS! I nearly said the name of the country they came from, but managed to catch myself before I fell foul of the raaacist police) a perfectly fine overseas location.

  India’s a great place to visit; no wonder so many Kiwi citizens and residents have gone there for their holidays. There’s the added advantage for many of being able to catch up with family and it’s such a shame the flights were all cancelled until recently because of Covid 19. Ooh sorry, did I say India? There was a discussion on asbestos on the ZB builders show this morning and I didn’t realise that up to about the year 2000 houses were allowed this substance. Of course the guest had a company that specialised in getting rid of asbestos but I wonder how many DIY people realise that the material they disturb in home renovations can be harmful?

    Correct, affects the lungs so water filled lungs will kill ya long before asbestos. damp fibres are harmless as wont get airbourne.
    
    Roofing, fences and fireplace surrounds will be the most common household areas to find the stuff.

        Install a filter on the main line to your house or simply dont inhale your “vegetables” youre worried about.
        
        the public has been drinking from asbestos pipes for many decades. a dry broken asbestos fence will be a higher risk and even then its very low. general air quality in any large town or city will likely be more detrimental to your health.

No not really, I’m talking about when the pipes for Temuka broke blocking their taps and such with asbestos and people were having it all over their properties for nearly six months until a new pipeline was installed. Was so bad it was clogging up people’s shower heads, hot water cylinders , and even the mains going into properties. Which I would guess as it dries was a risk considering some properties were covered in it over their gardens and lawn

Little over two months into arguably the most important election in our history and I’m getting concerned. It is blatantly obvious Labour do not want to talk about policies for a potential second term, or answer any questions on how we are meant to pay these billions and billions of dollars in debt back, two months time will fly. Can our media please do their job and start demanding answers? We need detail and we need it now so kiwis can decide the correct path for NZ. It’s in Jacindas interest to not focus on policy and try to drag all the Covid attention out to the election day, as then she cannot be scrutinized. Its frankly disgraceful, we all deserve and should be getting better. Come on journalists!
