  The New Conservative candidate here has put up a few placards on roadside fences.
  One of them – all you can see whilst driving by is a photo of the guy and big “No Thanks” written underneath.
  This is not graffiti vandalism, it is actually part of his election branding.

This incompetent government’s record offers many targets of opportunity and that is where National’s fire must be directed by a Leader who is one hundred and ten percent political animal and who takes no prisoners. Mr Muller’s very short career as leader suggests that perhaps he was given the leadership by caucus primarily to urgently replace Simon Bridges hence Mr Muller did not think clearly about the aftermath of the overthrow. The day-to-day leadership demands were obviously not contemplated…bring on Judith Collins without the dreadful Nikki Kaye.

At least the slipped in pretender at the last election known as Ardern who got the job in similar circumstances will this time face a female leader of National Party . Will be no ifs no buts, or no maybes, as the nefarious background of Ardern is exposed . Like the Commie Chants of Comrade 15 times in 7 minutes in an address to socialist /commie youth .
At last here is a chance for National to nip in the bud the Commie/Socialist aspirations of Ardern to make NZ the Socialist Republic of the South Pacific. All we have to do is make sure on the day after the General Election on 19 09 2020 that National and ACT are in charge of the future and well being of NZs and their lifestyle. Nuff said.

Another win for labour unless tha National party can put up a decent candidate for the caucus and the party members to get behind immediately.

We also need the press to drop their partisan attitude and unroll the carpet in ardern’s office and let the hidden shit out into the public eye.

Let’s get the full sroubek story into the press, the “history” of the all participants and “why” the immigration minister did what he did.

Let’s also get the media looking critically at all the “promises” being made by the coalition members and the downstream effects they would have on NZ.

If the press cannot/will not do that the DPF and other blog owners have a massive job to do.

  Took young grandson to Wellington yesterday and at Te Papa found a very handsome Tahr on display there.
  Stuffed of course.
  Beautiful day in Welly: Grandson had 10 second trip down Mr Mallard’s $400,000 plus slide at Parliament which was much smaller than anticipated. Stainless steel was shiny though.
  Plenty of people parading round on the wharf area.
  Must say was impressed with Te Papa – really good stuff for school holiday visitors.
  Saw one person wearing mask ? on entire trip.

  It’s true, you only have as many positives as you test and get. It’s why I believe we had a far higher number in NZ than our official count. People who should of been tested weren’t tested because of the rules placed on testing.

    That’s not strictly true. The real figure is not the number of tests but the proportion of those tests which are positive, and that apparently is much higher now, by about 3 times. The real real figure is the number of deaths, which is consistently under-reported. Those are down, but seem to be creeping up again.

      The difficulty with that is that at least 30 to 40% of tests are falsely positive or falsely negative. Because that’s in the nature of PCR accuracy, and because there’s not enough virus picked up on the swab, or, the testing technique is below par, or, the viral particles have already gone south into the lungs so the test doesn’t find them.

  Moron was a medical descriptor back in the early 1900s; = “Those whose mental development is above that of an imbecile, but does not exceed that of a normal child of about twelve years.”
  
  actually I think even a 12-year-old child could figure out that if you don’t do (sit) the test (exam) you won’t get a failing mark… Therefore, countries which do lots and lots of testing make themselves look worse than they are but they are in fact doing the right public health thing. Also, the more tests you do, the lower the death rate from coronavirus, fortunately… because most cases of the virus – with tragic exceptions – don’t kill people.

Sweden looks odds on to avoid the ‘second wave’ of Covid 19 that is sweeping through Europe. The path they chose to take in ‘accommodating’ the virus could well prove to be the correct one. A quote from an opinion writer in ‘The Telegraph’ in reference to NZ.

  1.The 1918 flu was over in 2 years and there was no vaccine.
  
  2. if it continues there will be no herd immunity, the antibodies do not last, so Sweden will gain no advantage. Whereas we will know that the Gilead drug (get a supply of a cheap Indian generic) works early and the cheap steroid works late before we have many cases.
  
  3. treatments, such as coating the virus so it cannot attach to lung cell receptors will reduce the severity of the illness.

      I hope the krazykiwi link guy is right, and some sort of herd immunity (whether it is actually that, or something resembling it in effect) develops offshore.
      
      There were villages unaffected by plague (quarantined out or isolated), and areas that never saw a case of the 1918 flu.

  The huge majority of serious and lethal assaults in New Zealand are committed with bare hands / fists; also boots, clubs, edged weapons, and some occasionally unpleasant uses of jug cords, doors, barbed wire, acids and other chemicals, etc, and gang members with illegal firearms (including 501s and other gangsters the police issued a FAL to…) – not with “what is basically a machine gun”.
  
  I have been in emergency medical practice for 45 years and I’ve never seen a machine-gunned patient in New Zealand.

If you own the median price house in Auckland
$880 000
I you own 1 rental property in Auckland
$650 000
Sundry assets…$150 000
Kiwisaver etc
$200 000 (guestimate)
$1.88mill
Wealth tax = $18 800pa
If you make $70000 each
ie household income $140 000
Income tax $27 640
So total “income + wealth tax” paid out of your income $46 440 ie 33.2% tax, higher than the top rate if it applied to all income.
Remember..the MEDIAN house price, so HALF of all Auckland home owners are at risk of this tax.
In case renters think they are immune, where do you think the income will be made up from?
Increased rent
Sale of the rental property, meaning a lack of supply of rentals, therefore an increase in rent or even homelessness.
This will be the real impact of a Labour Greens govt.

There have been a few articles (on CNN, NBC, and others) talking about Orange Donny being unhappy with Dr Anthony Fauci, and the possibility of him being fired.

Most of the articles have focused on the fact that Trump cannot directly fire Dr Fauci. Which is technically true, but to my mind is a completely irrelevant detail. The fact that the instruction would have to first go through a political appointee and then however many layers of bureaucracy really makes no difference. If Trump wants Dr Fauci fired, he would be fired.

But that said, I think Trump firing Dr Fauci might not make much of a difference either.

In terms of directing Federal money and resources Dr Fauci has already been completely sidelined. He’s been moved to a position where he doesn’t have any say on those things. His only influence is his pulpit, his public statements. And firing him can’t stop him doing that. If anything it may expand his platform. Right now the administration has some say over where and when Dr Fauci can speak. But as an unemployed free citizen, Fauci could say anything to whoever the hell he wants.

At this point Dr Fauci has (independently of his job title) established himself as a respected voice on COVID-19 issues. A majority of Americans trust Dr Fauci’s statements more than they do Trump and his spokespeople. Even if Trump fires Fauci, major media outlets (and Democrat controlled congressional committees) would still welcome him back for interviews and testimony, and most Americans would still listen to him.

Trump can certainly fire Dr Fauci. But he has no way to silence him.

After all he was “disciplined” under Muller’s leadership, which is now null and void?
