  I saw all those numpties yesterday wearing their masks.
  
  1. The best protection comes from a N95 mask, I did not see anybody wearing one.
  2. The surgical masks do not protect you, they help prevent you passing on germs to patients. You wear them to protect others not yourself, do you have the virus?
  3. The temporary masks are designed for short term use, a few hours at best. This is because we breathe out water vapour that collects in the mask, this moisture acts as a virus trap, so worse than not wearing a Mask at all.
  
  Now where are the antibody test kits to tell us how prevalent the spread has been, like the ones used overseas, oh yes the MOH has just banned them subject to being tested, they have no time to test them.
  
  Seriously people grow a pair, I would rather live free and die standing than live like a slave on my knees.

    Mr B – yesterday at our town’s largest supermarket I stopped, as a good brainwashed team member, to sign the tracing register.
    I was very excited to see that Donald J. Trump was in the building having signed same paper just before me!!
    I quickly put on my MAGA themed face mask (made by a friend) and went directly to the cleaning products aisle.
    All stock of personal disinfectants cleared off the shelves – so the Don must be here somewhere.
    Didn’t bother with alcohol area as I understand he is not a drinker – but thought maybe toilet paper would have been a goer.
    Was just in time to large man surrounded by other large men talking into their lapels rush out door with loads of paper.
    By the way, I was only one in there wearing a ?.
    And someone asked me if it was a Jacinda one.

    Me wearing a mask protects you, you wearing a mask protects me. That’s why surgeons wear masks, that’s the point – stop the spread of communicable disease, in this case one that can be spread by airborne particles.

        Just to be difficult, we refer to our as as yet unborn grandchild as “they” and this is grammatically correct because we don’t know their gender yet.
        Baby is due in the next few days, first grandchild and the parents opted not to be told the sex from the scans.
        So, if you honestly don’t know someones sex, it is correct to refer to them as “they” even when singular.

    I don’t really mind too much whether “New Zealand” or “Aotearoa” is used where appropriate. But on an official New Zealand Government page, where we are supposed to be trying to get the message out to as many people as possible, as clearly as possible – ESPECIALLY following the massive stuff-up at the weekend – saying the following is pointless virtue-signalling.
    
    Gatherings for the rest of Aotearoa remain limited to one hundred people
    
    How many immigrants are going to know where “Aotearoa” is? Seriously? I have a colleague at work who struggles greatly with Maori place names, I’m willing to bet he won’t know.

      Graham, I am of the opinion that English being a really flexible language, can adopt words into it. However, adopting words into English where there is already an accepted and well understood word for the concept or item, adds nothing except confusion. Aotearoa is a Maori word and since New Zealand is the existing word and meaning is well understood, there is no benefit in using it in English. In fact since some English speakers around the world do not know what Aotearoa means, it actually is a disadvantage. Language should be about making ideas and meaning easily passed between people. Inserting a Maori word instead of the existing English word is just retarded.

  The masks are only good for asymptomatic people who happen to have the virus, and will help stop them passing it on. None of these homemade masks will prevent you from catching Covid.
  I guess that’s what the govt is hoping, that untested asymptomatic people happen to wear a mask to avoid the spread.

    Won’t even really do that, they will stop one actually spitting on people and prevent the heavy droplets exiting, but it does appear that this virus is mostly spread in aerosoled droplets that won’t be significantly impeded by a cloth mask.
    
    And there’s still a lot of doubt around whether asymptomatic carriers actually exhibit sufficient viral load to spread it at all.
    
    And this isn’t just opinion, this is the actual results of research into the use of cloth and other masks. They are, quite simply, ineffective in preventing the spread.
    
    Good however for ensuring compliance by sheeple to prepare them for additional restrictions.

      Let’s be real. The purpose of muzzles is nothing medical-related, but it is to keep people scared, thinking about the virus and therefore receptive to measures which affect their economic and civil liberties. We are being slowly conditioned on a daily basis, through images in the media and through popular sports and entertainment figures. The aim is to have us wearing them in perpetuity, forever, not for 6 months or some other such temporary time frame.

      Researchers tested 14 commonly available masks including a professionally fitted N95 mask, usually reserved for health care workers. First the test was performed with a speaker talking without wearing a mask. Then they did it again while a speaker was wearing a mask. Each mask was tested 10 times.
      
      The most effective mask was the fitted N95. Three-layer surgical masks and cotton masks, which many people have been making at home, also performed well.
      
      Neck fleeces, also called gaiter masks and often used by runners, were the least effective. In fact, wearing a fleece mask resulted in a higher number of respiratory droplets because the material seemed to break down larger droplets into smaller particles that are more easily carried away with air.
      
      Folded bandanas and knitted masks also performed poorly and did not offer much protection.

  John Ratcliffe – US director of National Intelligence, said on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox news, that the virus originated in Wuhan. That the Chinese government knew it was very contagious. The Chinese suppressed that information and information about PPE and consequently the virus was allowed to spread throughout the world. If the Chinese had been upfront the virus could have been contained.
  
  I’d be interested if some NZ reporter asked our prime minister about this? Does she accept that the Chinese government was culpable in the spread of the virus? Does that alter our stance on China and the influence that Chinese business has in NZ?
  
  I know for our NZ media feelz is the most important thing but could we ask our prime minister some substantive questions on this issue?

      Have to agree with you there, Ed. The timeline of the Chinese response lends itself to a “oh shit this is way worse than we thought” moment rather than willful negligence (at a central rather than city level, the city just didn’t want to report a problem).
      
      Still, that 3,000 person death toll is about as believable as a Putin denial.

      From what I understand there is a very high proportion of Chinese that regularly travel between northern Italy and China as cheap clothes are made in Italy by cheap Chinese labour, that way they can honestly put a label on the clothing saying “Made in Italy” and said garment then attracts a higher price.   The management of COVID in this country has always been political which is why Labour has been unwilling to cooperate with the Opposition in a spirit of national unity. The decision to lift restrictions on Auckland is an enormous political gamble. It is a de facto admission that elimination is no longer the government’s strategy, even if they continue to insist it is. They have deliberately taken a decision to risk the spread of the virus throughout the country because they fear a loss of political support in our biggest city and the election is imminent. Before bed last night a quick perusal of the Labour party propaganda sites showed every one carrying a story of the latest MoH f@#k-up; the sending of C-19 test results to strangers.

Obviously the LP damage control division were working overtime through the small hours and this morning only Newshub are now showing the details – well down the page.

Every propaganda site is leading with “praise the saviour” brainwashing instead.

That sort of dedication from the damage control division must be bloody expensive.

How much are we paying for it?

      But is alleged “misogyny” really such a crime against humanity? In fact, you could ask the same question about alleged “racism” too. Surely people can express a personal opinion, even if some don’t like it. Even if a lot don’t like it. Words are words, not violence as we are told.
      
      Those of us on the right make the mistake of arguing from a leftist paradigm (a lot of so-called right wingers are actually liberals). And because we aren’t leftists , we aren’t ever going to win by starting from this foundation. If we don’t buy into the accepted as self-evident leftist moral framework, where sexism and racism are the cardinal sins, then no defence is necessary. Playing their game is a losing strategy.

      She is obviously close to him and she refused to condemn him for writing about killing her political rival and raping his daughter.

The truth in some current blunders may relate more to Ardern trying to be Prime Minister, who should at this stage be fairly fully involved in trying to get Labour re-elected, and Health Minister, which requires as full an involvement of a team doing what is best for the well-being of all New Zealanders. Ardern may be smart here and there, but not clever enough to do both.

“I think as the Prime Minister indicated yesterday, there is some sensitivity around paid advertising at the moment because we’re in the regulated period, and I think that meant officials didn’t run the wording of those advertisements passed us in the way they might’ve done previously” – Hipkins. [1]

When the original Health Minister David Clark finally stood himself down as a distraction, after a string of counter-productive performances including a back-firing attempt to throw Ashley Bloomfield “under the bus”, Ardern appointed Hipkins, an already overloaded minister, to head Health and continues with Bloomfield, but herself acts so much as Minister of Health that she is indistinguishable from Hipkins efforts.
See? – fucking madness.

Then on top of that, Ardern has dismissed Labour’s participation in producing any major Election policies – her job is to fight covid, she says. But that fight is now inextricably bound with Labour’s Election efforts and the above Hipkins’ quote indicates the crap that is happening.

If Labour fucks up building as many houses as they say, or finally can not make a decision on Auckland light rail so just dump it, or lie in counting Forestry’s re-plantings in their Shane Jones’s total but take no account of the greater number of mature trees Forestry elsewhere whacks down to send to China, it all leaves me to consider their non-delivery another day.

But as my health places me among the many vulnerable, if they fuck up their control of the virus, it could kill me, which would really spoil my day – but of course not their’s.

But then, more simply, how smart are their communications and monitoring of those themselves, when one message – as wrong as the current “all in South and West Auckland get tested” – can remain in circulation for the several days that it did?

The buck should stop with the Ministers of Health, all four of them.

    Judicial Watch did succeed via a law suit in getting one Ca county to purge over 1.5M electors from the rolls as they were not able to be demonstrated to be valid entries. The number of registered voters comfortably exceeded the number of actual inhabitants, but no doubt the Democrats were happy to have those votes roll in for them regularly.

    Not a bad idea but I don’t think the public’s memory is that short.
    The most effective of the National line up at the moment seems to be Dr Reti but he’s not captured at the top of the party where it looks he should be, and he’s possibly too Maori for the luvvies but he sure looks like a leading representative of the future. I don’t think anyone could genuinely fault his ideas and experience. He’s a very learned fellow and humble to go with it.
    His comments over the weekend about the health system were inspired. He doesn’t display the need to throw things out and replace them with something argued to be better rather than to put the effort into improving systems that are already functioning.

      What a bizarre thing to say Brian. Dr Reti, who has only been in Parliament since 2014, is ranked #5, behind Judith Collins, Gerry Brownlee, Paul Goldsmith and Simon Bridges. That’s certainly “captured at the top of the party” as far as I am concerned.
      
      As for your suggestion that he’s “possibly too Maori”, what does that matter? As it happens, he’s one of two Maori in the top five of National, and he’s there on merit. Can the same be said of Kelvin Davis?
      
      I have no doubt whatsoever that Dr Reti will be an outstanding Health Minister, possibly in as soon as two months.

While mulling over the idea of racing up to New Plymouth and shoving a few crystals in the ground or elsewhere, I thought about New Zealander of the year.

Although not really a New Zealander I thought brenton tarrant may be a possibility as he has certainly had more impact on opur country than any other I can think off ….. Shame it’s been for the worse not better.

So if tarrant is off the list what about sean hendy? His stupidity and moronic modelling, plus some “mates” in London, panicked cindy into a stupid over reaction that has virtually crippled our country and has reversed our “well being” as a country by about 25 years and he still wants us to suffer more pain.

If the criteria was “impact” only these two guys would be shoe ins.

Now, where do we find someone who has had such an impact but in the positive spectrum…….

  Its a repeat of fish and chip customers getting the wrong orders. There is no pride, willingness, or desire to get things right, or to have a sense of a accomplishment of a job well done.
  
  Unfortunately for the above mentioned individuals, when you are running a scam, in this case a scamdemic, there is no pride, or feeling of accomplishment. There is not satisfaction of a job well done. Just continual re-arranging of the truth to butt cover and to suit the agenda.
  
  And when you force staff or juniors to do things that they know are not honest and not right, screw ups like this are bound to happen. It may not be intentional, but it is indicative of actions by staff when their heart is not in the job, because they know the basis of the job is wrong.
  
  It is also the way the unconscious mind asserts itself when the conscious mind is forced to do things that are not right.
  
  For Christ’s sake, here we are nine months after they knew about it and still no stats on actual infection or morbidity rates.
  
  The entire lockdown, complete with 100Bn in debt, masks, social distancing etc etc etc, is all predicated on that risk. That risk is defined by % rate of infection and % rate of mortality.
  
  Unfortunately for the stooges, the ‘Covid as the new Resident Evil’ narrative has fallen off the wagon for the following reasons:
  
  1) We don’t know the mortality rate in NZ, because any testing that would reveal the true infection rate has not been done. In fact it has been avoided at all costs. A professional science team, in order to evaluate risk, would carry testing trials to ascertain those very facts. In fact any professional team, in marketing, science, management. etc would do so.
  
  Not our numpties. If this was a PhD project, it would be an outstanding fail. To avoid the spotlight about the mortality rate, the deaths stats have been removed from the NZ Covid stats page. Instead the world stats are there instead, which we now know are BS.
  
  2) As the UK has found out, for every Covid death, there are three flu deaths. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that Covid is less deadly than the flu. A lot less deadly.
  
  3) The USA CDC site has been quietly updated to reflect the truth that only 6% of stated deaths with Covid were in fact due to Covid. The rest had an average of 2.5 co-morbidities, and would have been bowled over by a flu, or a bad flu.
  
  And it’s not surprising since when the Covid figures started soaring months ago, the flu deaths started dropping, both in the US and the UK. The flu figures in the US were so out of sync with reality, it indicated that weekly flu deaths in NZ were greater than flu deaths in the US. All that had happened was that flu deaths were treated as with Covid deaths, allowing unscrupulous scaremongers to paint Covid-19 as the new Resident Evil.
  
  Generally, from an overall statistical point of view, Corona Viruses are treated as a part of all deaths from the flu. Covid-19 is a subset of Corona Viruses.
  
  If you get a flu shot, the doctor does not tell you if the flu shot is for Corona Viruses, influenza, or something else. It is all referred to as a flu (influenza) shot.
  
  The wheels have completely fallen off the Covid-19 wagon, and these muppets know it, but they are continuing to trot out the narrative.
  
  To continue the narrative is a scam. To continue the lockdown is tyranny. To insist on mandatory Vaccines will be treason.
  
  The public need to see this government for what it really is.

I remember when

Interesting article about Jamaican woman, who taught in Samoa and then here, in Sunday magazine.
Because of stated lower achievement by Samoan students in New Zealand, racial reasons were suggested.
Another possible reason may be that in Samoa their students don’t see any reason why they can’t be successful – competing with their peers.
In New Zealand, they are having to use English as their educational language.
Even although they may speak two languages, the achievement is largely in the one. The ability in the second goes largely unrewarded.

I remember when

Heard about an acquaintance who attended a funeral very recently.
Got into a conversation, as you do, with the undertaker. In the course of the chat, they asked whether he noticed an increase in deaths of the elderly during winter.
Undertaker said that there had been a noticeable increase in deaths lately, but from people taking their own lives.
They said it was very marked in the particular area they worked in.

Also health insurance that covers medical expenses will that also cover euthanasia costs?

    You decide, not your family. The number of people’s kids that would push for euthanasia is so tiny it’s ridiculous that people keep using it as an argument. It’s simply dishonest to be fair.

    Stephie, do yourself a favour and look up the side effects of the 2 x H1N1 vaccines used in the UK and Europe during 2009/10.
    
    There was also a Channel 4 documentary shown in the UK that documented what happened.
    
    By 2011/12 there were document cases of school children developing narcolepsy. Analysis and research indicated the potential cause were the two vaccines that had not undergone proper field trial tests. The vaccines were found to be the cause with a small percentage of children at particular stages in their physical development.
    
    This not an anti-vax issue, it is a case of Big Pharma rushing untested drugs on to the market without proper scrutiny or testing.
    
    What you overlook is that big pharma does not make much money out of regular therapeutic medicines. It needs a pandemic that needs new vaccines with cashflow to support their R&D and business manufacturing/distribution empire.

        a) Covid is as bad as they say it is. Which it is not.
        b) If the masks were as effective as they say they are . Which they are not.
        
        If Covid was as contagious and as deadly as the propaganda suggests, I would not be relying on a standard mask to protect me. I would wanting a friggin space suit, and a decontam airlock in every building I visit.

Not sure what’s happening out there, but for the first time since i became an ‘Instagram Influencer’, people suddenly seem to be turning a bit sort of… anti 🙁
For ages now, I’ve been regularly posting pics of the fab food and wines we’ve been enjoying at various 5* restaurants. The normally complimentary responses and upticks have always been most satisfying. They give everyone a real ‘feel good buzz’ and show that others also love hearing about what you’re doing.

But for the last few months, it’s suddenly running about 50/50, with new followers coming on board and saying things like “….who gives a f- -k”, “get a life bitch” and someone has just posted ‘TSIF’. (I always get my own back by replying ….’jealousy gets you no where’ and ‘….loser’. Then i block them.)
Anyway, I thought to myself, STUFF IT, may as well not bother any more. Their loss, not mine.

And just on testing: yesterday our laboratories processed 10,487 tests for COVID-19, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 750,808. {1]

The “wrong” message urging South and West Auckland to get tested – about 700,000 people – would have been equivalent to all the tests done so far, from about late February,
OR, at latest rates of about 10,000 tests a day, would take presumably about 70 days to process, which would be pointless.

  the daily testing is the major as unless someone gets tested and then goes and isolates the rest of their life then theyre immediately available for infection within seconds of testing.

Turns out that, according to CDC data, only 6 percent of people on that official death toll list died solely of COVID-19. Six percent.

The COVID-19 lockdown measures that Americans have had to endure for the greater part of 2020 represent one of the most dramatic, consequential, and damaging policy measures undertaken in this nation’s history. For the first time in its history, America has experienced a situation so crippling and perilous that long term financial and social stability have been legitimately threatened.

Combining these analyses, we found that an estimated 18.7 million life-years will be lost in the United States due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. Comparative data analysis between nations shows that the lockdowns in the United States likely had a minimal effect in saving life-years. Using two different comparison groups, we estimate that the COVID-19 lockdowns in the U.S. saved between a quarter to three quarters of a million life-years.”

This is sickening – a guy drives off from a party after drinking, his “friend” who he only met that day tries to jump in, he takes off with her hanging on for dear life.

She falls off, hits her head and dies. He admits guilt, not much choice really, and the dud judge starts subtracting like crazy for the usual reasons, including the old standby – a troubled childhood. I had a troubled childhood too – I was always getting into trouble and just about always suffered the consequences.

Long story short, the dud judge converts a 22-month prison sentence into 9 months staying at home! I realise they have to take certain things into account (troubled childhood isn’t one of them though) and that he would be eligible for parole after only a third of his sentence, but at least he would have served time and been monitored for good behaviour etc.

I love that Emerson attacked David Wong-Tung over his sharing memes. He’s basically saying sharing non-Emerson/Murdoch political cartoons is wrong and disgusting. Only left-wing anti-National cartoons are appropriate. It’s not like it’s hard to find some. Emerson and especially Murdoch barely ever even touch Labour while constantly attacking Judith. Firstly they had some left wing moron from the US on who was spouting that the out of control arson, looting, murder and rioting in the US are “peaceful protests” and it’s all Trump’s fault. What planet is he on? I mean how blinkered can you be? When Kathryn used the word “riot” she quickly corrected herself.   I had noticed on a betting site I follow that Trump’s chances have been increasing, but the clip you have posted suggests that Sleepy Joe is not the hopeless chance I have always thought, and hoped, he was. the full education approvals needed for a private school.

NZ First: 2.5%

So right now, it’s not looking very good for the Nats, with just under 7 weeks to go until the election. But a lot of things will probably happen and change in those weeks…
