Surely this issue is a bit too peripheral to matter. Sure, it’s emblematic of wokeness, but an issue to oust Labour from power, I don’t see it.

To me the key issue has been and remains housing. National were quite up front in the past, regarding the housing crisis no fucks were given. Labor cared and cared, agonized, then failed at every twist and turn to improve the situation.

So, for me, a better campaign for National would be ‘If we gave a single fuck, we might be able to address the housing crisis, the same can’t be said for Labour.’

This doesn’t change anyone’s mind about anything.

Everyone knows that Labour are crim-hugging lightweights. Most people don’t like Judith Collins.

People want to hear what exactly National will do. The problem is National doesn’t know what it will do, because National doesn’t know what it stands for.

Whether this page accepts it or not, most natural National voters have a simple view on gang members. Hang the bastards. The further National gets from that, the more irrelevant the party will be.

I wish it was only $2.75 million but I think we all are well aware that it is vastly more when “job seeker” benefits, housing supplements, free housing through emergency housing, medical care for the battered partners and drug addled customers, theft, fraud, money lending and so one, all repayed from our taxes either directly or indirectly.

These gangs are a cancer in our country robbing many of their health and livelihoods yet we have a government that continues to woo them rather than squash them like the cockroaches they really are.

Wake up ardernists, it’s your future as well as mine they are stealing from us.

I was at a Board meeting for a charity this evening – I was astonished and heartened by the visceral reactions of most of those present to the granting of money to the drug pedlars. I think this is a massive misstep by Jacinda, and a big push now will gain traction.

Hm. I’ve seen claims that National has quite happily funded similar ventures in the past. I do wonder if this is really all you’ve cracked it up to be. Not that it doesn’t look bad politically, the optics are terrible.

I have written before about such in your face billboards. With modern technology National could alternate 2 or 3 simple but effective messages per week, driving key policy differences home. And don’t be afraid of using Ardern’s photo. Make her own her policies and decisions. Bugger the msm reaction.

Kids —- educate them – indoctrinate them.

Workers — meaningful employment – jobs/welfare.

Citizenship — Kiwis – brown/white.

Politics —– prosperity – ‘negadividy’

National is then giving voters a real choice – which is different to just slanging off at Labour policy or politicians, and which confuses voters on the left.

Meanwhile, the embedded zealots in the MoH are pushing their own Pharma sponsored agenda to prohibit (effectively) tobacco.

A war for the nicotine market.
Pure chemical pharma nicotine vs the plant.
Like a cup of coffee vs a caffeine pill and hot water.

They have no idea of the positive benefits, and if they do, they either don’t care, or suppress them.

There are as many tobacco lovers “smokers”, in the world as Muslims.

How’s that going to work out?

Think you can convert them all to your way of puritanical thinking? (Rhetorically speaking…)

But back to gangs …

I doubt that any such “Crush” meme would be useful or effective. So, what would be?

Question: So if that is a realistic strategy, why didn’t National do it when they had nine years in government?

Answer: It is not a realistic strategy, it’s just whipping up anger for political advantage.

You have to address the root causes of alienation and disadvantage to deal with gang issues. Probably why Don Brash is now involved in funding and mentoring the gangs.

How many cars has Judith crushed? Just three. If you can’t crush a car, there is no way National is going to crush gangs. Remember National was in Government for nine years under Bolger and Shipley and another nine under Key and English. They’ve had a long time to crush gangs. Do you really want Labour reminding voters of that?

Labour are changing the constitution without reference to the electorate .

Unelected Maori seats on local /city council , now the notion of water rights based on tribal interests and all the UN indigenisation stuff etc

National needs to get fighting on behalf of the constitution , I know that’s a big ask when we’re dealing with thicko swing voters and a very partisan extreme left Media pardy but it’s too important to be tame about.

I don’t think National should run that billborad in every city at all. Why? Because it plays to dated and rather unsophisticated stereotypes about National and Judith Collins in particular. I don’t see it as progressing National’s standing much. It’s a message that preaches to the converted.

National needs new messages that preach to those who have real doubts about the current Labour Government, and who may be experiencing voter’s remorse over how they voted last year.

My sense is that with all that is going on at the moment in our Covid world that this issue is way down the priority list of what matters most to voters at the moment. It would probably play well in Temuka though, and maybe Te Kuiti.

In Auckland and Wellington how about this? Gangs. Fund them on Jacinda’s side. Where are the 100,000 homes, Jacinda? on Judith’s side?

Doesn’t actually do it for me. That “crusher” moniker is too trite now.

A series of this graphs showing metrics being worse under Labour over many months would be more effective.

However to win, National and Act have to show what they would do differently. For me, “I want that” is much more powerful than “I don’t want that”.

Even if Labour stole some of the ideas, that’s ok, you just keep on with the message that they are your ideas and come election time, I reckon that people would vote for the crew that had the ideas, even if someone else implemented them
