  Rather than posting the blog news link, you should actually post the paper. Then people can judge for themselves what is the significance. This is because reporters often read their own prejudices into stories about new papers. I note Betsy McCaughey didn’t link to the paper.
  Looking at the referenced journal https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/home it is not obvious what article she is talking about.

  In fact the secondary attack rate (infection) of household members was 25% for vaccinated, and 38% for unvaccinated. However, due to low sample sizes this large difference of 13% was not significant. That does not mean no difference, it just means the study was underpowered for the conclusion, and requires replication and meta-analysis to get a generalisable result.
  
  The study also notes: “Vaccination reduces the risk of delta variant infection and accelerates viral clearance” so these are further positive effects of vaccination.
  
  So the realclearpolitics article is flat out wrong. But it is also regrettable that the original authors of the research draw conclusions from an underpowered study. If a 13% difference is not significant … I mean, how would that play in political polling? Winston not significantly different from the Greens in levels of support ????

    I thought the whole point of the govt vaccine targets here and the passports was to stop people getting infected “(“cases”). The results pretty much show it is pointless.
    
    As Ron Johnson said at his roundtable – if you take a look at the UK, of the people who have died from Covid in the last 7 and a half months, 63% have been fully vaccinated. In the last 4 weeks, 78% of those who have died have been fully vaccinated. He also says, if you have a flow chart –
    
    Are Covid-19 vaccines effective?
    YES – then mandates are pointless
    NO – then mandates are pointless

      Note the term “breakthrough infection”. This mean an infection that you get after vaccination.
      
      If the chance of an unvaccinated person getting infected is 100%, and the chance of a vaccinated person getting infected is 25% then by extension you have limited transmission as a whole because there are fewer hosts tan there would have been.
      
      Once you are infected, well then the body will behave a lot like an unvaccinated person’s body…

      There is really nothing surprising about that. The numbers of deaths in the UK fell to close to zero, but they are now picking up a bit.

      Most of the unvaccinated who die are vulnerable people in their 50s and 60s.
      
      The vaccinated people who die are vulnerable people in their 80s and 90s. Remember something like 99.9 percent of over 80s are vaccinated.
      
      But look at those massive earlier peaks of deaths in the chart I posted – you will never see those peaks again – because of the vaccines.
      
      You will see the same trend in New Zealand. Let’s take Auckland. It may well get to a vaccination rate of 95 percent which is pretty amazing. As the virus gets going, we will not see high numbers of deaths. But most of the deaths will be very vulnerable vaccinnated old people. With the balance being mostly unvaccinated vulnerable middle aged people. This is because there are virtually NO unvaccinated old people.

      Yes most intriguing weekly results in the UK Gov Covid Vaccine Surveillance Reports that indicate that since August more and more fully vaccinated (than unvaccinated) people (30-90 y/o) are getting the virus, being hospitalised and dying. Perhaps those ‘accredited journalists’ could take a look and work out what questions to ask the NZ Gov next week!

    The SAR for the unvaccinated 38% has a 95%CI of 24 – 53% – ie within the range of 25% for the vaccinated. They cannot draw a conclusion that the vaccinated are less likely to be infected.

  “realclearpolitics” cherry picked parts from this paper that suited their agenda, and ignored the parts that did not. e.g, they ignored the part that says vaccinated people have a shorter infectious period ….
  
  “unvaccinated cases in this study had moderate-to-severe infection, which is known to be associated with prolonged shedding”….
  “clearance of delta viral RNA in vaccinated cases was faster than in unvaccinated cases”…
  
  The paper’s purpose is to investigate transmissibility variability between vaxxed and unvaxxed within households (not between households or casual public transmission).
  
  So, yes, within a household of people living together in close contact, vaccination benefits are hard to see. It might be that constant exposure is a factor in transmission.

    Maybe it is another way of saying the traffic light system is a waste of time.
    
    I’d think a simpler system could be in order…keep up with the vaccination programme, and stay at home and isolate when sick. Does that extend to the whole bubble? Probably, because odds are fairly high that everyone inside the bubble will get sick.
    
    Otherwise, everything else returns back to the pre-covid days. Not really a fan of vaccine passports or forcing people to take the vaccine by making their lives miserable.

Apparently Stuff has a journo in a position known as the “EXPLAINER EDITOR”. one Kevin Lynch

Today he has an article replete with tables and colourful charts to “explain” why more vaccinated individuals are dyung from Covis in the UK than unvaccinated ones.

There is more than enough data and turgid text there to make the most ardent numberfile’s eyes glaze over.

But the take away is the vaccine is not 100% effective at preventing infection or “death”

And that is all fine and dandy – the vaccine reduces but doesn’t eliminate your chances of dying from Covid

But omitted entirely are the dowensides of the vaccine itself which carries some undetermined risks of serious illness and/or death = this is a matter to be swept under the rug as yet

The question at the individual level therefore becomes what is this persons chances of dying from Covid balanced against their chances of dying from the vaccine

The million dollar question that should be answered before blindly mass vaccinating the entire population including children.

    The bottom line, sooner of later everyone will get covid. Everybody who gets covid will have antibodies. Antibody tests were available and quickly banned, they still are.
    
    So 1. You need to vaccinate everyone to cover that up. Natural antibodies are better and last longer. So endless vaccine shots will be required.
    
    2. Segregation is required to keep the unvaccinated safe from the vaccinated.
    
    The imperfect vaccine does not Sterilize the virus and allows transmission, the only benefit is that you won’t get as sick. But people will still die.
    
    This means the vaccinated can carry a bigger viral load, before they start to show symptoms. This is not good for the unvaccinated.
    
    Also lockdowns isolated the virus and caused less transmissable strains to die out and more transmissable strains to take over.
    
    The imperfect vaccine killed off weaker strains and allowed hotter more deadly strains to take over.
    
    Now comes the conspiracy theory.
    
    Only half the world’s population will be vaccinated at some stage the more transmissable, more virulent strains will hit the rest of the world, the effect will be devastating for populations that don’t have access to or cannot afford to purchase the vaccine.
    
    A modern day sead the blankets with smallpox.

      You forget the special maths involved in climate “science”. If Indonesia mines coal and exports it to NZ where it is burnt, NZ counts the carbon in its emissions, Indonesia counts nothing.

  Some bought their own road transport by plane, dozens of aircraft to carry all the crews, protection and backup.
  Accommodation, wouldn’t be a unit at a motel, more like $40 – $50,000 a day.
  And what with the food and fancy booze I can REALLY appreciate the hardships they had to go through to attend CON (whatever number we’re up to)…

    having worked in the Forestry industry (in South Africa) commercial timber plantations do tend to have way less natural fauna and flora.
    
    I think it’s the worst way to do “carbon banking” especially as most of those trees are going to be cut down in a few years.

        The climate of southern British Columbia, might be an attraction. There’s little snow in Vancouver.
        
        And not far south is Seattle in Washington state. It’s temperate on the coast around there, too. Forests and sea.
        
        Further inland, western Canada remains entrepreneurial and progressive, if you can adapt to the winters.

    Both of my older kids are increasingly committed to leaving for overseas. However, despite having a Golden Ticket in the form of US citizenship my daughter is reluctant to move even to Texas because she’s convinced that “civil unrest” is going to break out at some stage, as in Civil War 2.0.
    
    She’s talked of the UK for her work and. yeessh. I’ve shown her the articles on hos British cops are dealing with online “hate speech”.

  I did mention my Australian experience yesterday. I also lived the best part of a decade in a Pacific island nation which I liked at the time but these days they’ve got more “we know better and don’t want you expats”.
  Wherever you go be prepared to be the outsider and expect to be told if you criticize anything that “if you don’t like it go back to your own country”
  Lots of upsides too of course but it does give you perspective on what you’ve left back here.

    Thanks for your comment yesterday. I have quite a good friend who went to Aus about a year ago and, while different, has said things along the same lines. Interestingly one of her biggest complaints is that the fresh produce sucks, and it costs more to buy half decent meat etc. sure you can get it cheaper, but to get
    a similar quality as a butcher here costs more. It also sounds like you have to pay a bunch of other taxes/insurance on top of the normal taxes which makes the incomes etc. not that much better.

      Agreed. Just an example people will tell you petrol is cheaper. Sure is, but (in Qld anyway) to register a four cylinder car was over $800. Going to the doctor was cheaper but the prescription could be $100 plus. Lots of other examples.

    Australia is by no means perfect. Apart from Tasmania it is too hot for my liking. But the people are generally optimistic. I looked at some data a couple of years ago that showed that Maori who move to Australia have similarly successful outcomes, adjusted for education levels. Of course it is no mystery why. There is no Treaty industry in Australia.

  NZ is a great place to live if you have enough money. It’s a sh*t of a place to live if you don’t have enough money, especially Auckland and Wellington.
  
  Go where the money is. Or else you could stay here and try and save and invest on the sideline so you will be financially independent, rather than being a wage slave. ie develop an investment portfolio that eventually earns more than your salary. They don’t call compounding the eighth wonder of the world for nothing!
  
  However the Auckland housing prices make this strategy almost impossible if you don’t already have a house there or inherited money for the deposit. That’s really sad. The FIRE movement is worth looking into or the mr money mustache movement. (google this). There is an NZ arm of this movement on facebook (or now Meta Platforms ?)
  
  Could invest in Bitcoin and do it from NZ! Here’s a great article on crypto from the crypto bulls. If you are in your 30s you have time on your side and crypto is definitely worth a shot.

    Interesting stuff, we are actually doing a lot of that mr money moustache stuff already, even though I hadnt herd of it. Neither of us are particularly consumerist by nature, we do have a mortgage, but not in a city and got in just before the market went insane, no other debt. Grow a lot of our own food, invest in things to reduce cost of living etc. dont eat out often, very really go to bars etc.
    
    One recommendation, and it saves a bit of money. Make your own beer, its not that hard, pretty fun, way cheaper if you drink a couple bottles a night, and the enjoyment of knowing your not paying the taxes on it so they can be spent on propaganda is immense.

  My experience is mainly with the western parts of the US. They love Kiwis (and Aussies) in Arizona and Texas. New Mexico is nice but a little more liberal. California is a great place but run by the wrong people; visit it often but don’t live there.
  
  I have friends in Florida which is a lot like Texas in mindset but a little more expensive. That said, the cost of living is pretty low in the US unless you opt for a large city in a blue state.
  
  I’d go for Texas.

      I don’t think my comments on SD would help you much as you are on a career path and I am retired.
      
      From Houston via Arizona I am currently a resident of [western] SD due to the zero state tax regime, and the political ambience and demographic suit me.
      
      But I am retired and spend most of my time traveling around within the US, and abroad or at sea [except that Covid has stopped the abroad/at sea bit, at the moment].
      
      SD would not suit me if I was still working. Whether such a small state would suit you, professionally, is something I can’t comment on.

  Looking at moving back to Europe just selecting the right place compared to NZ of old. NZ as it will be based on current trajectory looks like a Southern version of Venuzela.
  
  At moment Scandinavian countries rate well affordability, health, education and job opportunities. There are pros and cons to each.
  Otherwise Eastern European emerging economirles in next 10 to 20 years may well surpass NZ.

Yet I see only one media outlet regarding Joe Rogans attack on the her cancelling a question time after being questioned by someone non-registered.

If the overseas gloss is starting to wear off, how long before it crosses the border to NZ? Notwithstanding Joe’s audience is tens of millions.

  Was quite an eye opener, last night’s three news.
  Saw what sort of people were living in that Akl government housing where the covid case died. Locals could hardly string a sentence together, had lots of kids.
  
  Moved to piece on drive by shooting in Mangere. Neighbours also from a left behind cohort of society, many kids as well.
  
  Saw the locals interviewed from the town that little aussie girl got kidnapped in. Looked like people in the above two articles.
  
  Makes me feel grateful my forebears have risen out of that type of situation. Wonder if these people ever will. I do feel some of the Pacific Island population are aspirational but have great health problems. I don’t know if the maoris can ever lift themselves from these scenarios.

    No. The grim reality is that social status in our egalitarian world is largely controlled by intelligence + education and work ethic. And education rapidly diminishes in importance in adulthood.
    
    The first is mostly dictated by genetics at conception and the last two by good parenting. Intelligence is highly heritable; kids average IQ is approximately equal to average of Mum IQ, Dad IQ and 2 of population average IQ. Mum at dad at 75 will means kids average about 87 if their population average is 100 (and it is not 100 for all ethnicities, East asians are higher and many others lower). Mum and Dad = 130 will have kids average 115. Mum at 75 + 160 Sperm donor will average 109, and that right there is the only possible society-wide fix to the permanent underclass we are growing, if young thick women were just made aware of the reality their kids would have a chance at successful meaningful lives.
    
    Low intelligence parents living squalid lives on welfare and not helping their sadly and unfairly below average intelligence kids to attain a decent education or instilling any work ethic doom their kids to more of the same through genes and failed parenting. There is nothing society can do to fix that, at best they could be handed to better surrogate parents (which won’t happen in our ‘kind’ society) so the kids are doomed to shitty lives from birth.

        This is what I’ve been saying for years. People just don’t realise how destructive and completely unnatural socialism really is. The average IQ of NZ would literally be 10-20 points higher right now if we hadn’t had socialism for the last 20 years. It becomes a vicious cycle as low IQ people are less likely to be productive and so will vote for more and more socialism….until the whole economy collapses.
        
        This is why I’ve said in the past that we must have a minimum IQ requirement for voting rights. The alternative is a society with a continuously dropping IQ, continually evolving socialism and poverty.

        I hold out some hope that we will eventually create medicines that can replicate the effects of whatever high IQ genetics do to increase efficiency of brain development and function for everyone regardless of DNA, probably just a matter of having optimal ratios of various regulating neurochemicals during childhood and perhaps adulthood. But that may or may not be possible. It would certainly be worth $1000’s of Trillions to the world to work on, there is certainly no area of medical research that has higher potential payoff. And it’d massively increase the potential for human happiness around the world.

Anyone thinking that lockdowns save people need to read this.

From 1000 a month to 500 an hour is quite a shift.

For the vast majority of people, mental health due to government response is way more damaging than the virus itself.

Telling people the truth – like they did in Sweden – is far better for people in the end.

    Drivers are to total the numbers on the vehicles number plate and if the resultant number is an even one, they can assemble to pass through the border after Covid Passport checking etc on the hour. Those whose resultant number is an odd number are to do the same but on the half-hour.
    Additional help with calculations etc will be provided by school teachers proficient in Te Reo at each border post.

    The problem is that IF you are going to prevent unvaccinated people leaving Auckland, the only way to do that would be to stop every car, every bus, check everyone at the airport. That would be a nightmare.
    
    It seems to me that if you don’t have a booking system you need to let anyone leave Auckland. You can’t stop unvaccinated people leaving without a booking system. Of course the answer is to let anyone leave.

Didnt expect Cindy to go until winter 2022. Lots of chatter that she is on the way out now.

What happens over the next 4 weeks will be interesting. No one does internal knifings better than Labo.

  Looking at Oz and the US. However would have to look at the tax comparisons with those two countries and nz tax settings, in particular capital gains taxes and wealth taxes. Both have pretty mongrel tax regimes and tax increases are on the cards, particularly in the US.
  Property prices in Nz, Oz and the US are also a factor.
  
  Maybe even South east Asia for part of the year??
  
  A wee way off retiring but looking at nz super eligibility requirements and also health care access in those two countries when not living in nz full time.

    Time in Australia counts but BEWARE.
    MSD cardy wearers can easily decide you are not ordinarily resident in NZ when you apply.

    I’ve looked into this in depth.
    
    Best option so far (and this is not tax or financial) advice.
    
    1. Retain NZ tax residency (by staying in NZ for more than 183 days p.a. OR having a residence here and maintaining business ties etc). Gets you out of Oz/US complex tax .
    
    2. If Oz, maintain a line that you are not in Aus permanently, but working there temporarily (for up to 5 years) and you intend to return to NZ after that time. Come back to NZ at least 1x p.a.
    
    3. Don’t know much about a move to the US
    
    4. Look at the website

        Have a look at Europe. NZ has reciprocal visa waiver schemes with most European countries which allow you to do the Schengen area 90 days, then a further 90 in the particular country, before leaving the Schengen area for a few days and then starting the whole proceeding again. If you keep your tax domicile in NZ ( home, centre of economic activity) you can basically live permanently in Europe and keep NZ super, tax residency etc.

    You are correct. Cheque book education for bums on seats was a dumb move.
    
    I saw it in the UK too. Tutoring Year 3 students in tax accounting, when they hadn’t grasped the basics of accounting in Year 1. However, they were there because they brought funding from the government.
    
    I had flatmates in the UK who were passing papers with 40% as their end of year grade. I was then dismayed to learn it was also happening here at the same time (early 1990s).
    
    The odd thing was, that when I approached Auckland (my alma mater) about reading for a post grad degree in Business Finance, they were insisting I would have to do an intermediate year (my BCom is from Auckland). This was because they had had a number of UK students who had been failures at the post graduation level. I might add I have a MBA with distinction from a Red Brick University. Reality was, the Commerce School was happy to fill undergrad places with disregard, because this brought in the money.
    
    Thirty years later, I can testify that these policies have not helped the acumen of the NZ business community. Many of whom should not be in the jobs they hold.

There’s something crucial that needs to be pointed out

Currently the NZ media is reporting a spike in UK Covid cases and deaths. They are weaponising this by way of their usual “experts” to tell us how the UK is wrong and we were right

The problem is that this spike HAS NOT HAPPENED

Public Health England has said that the data is inaccurate and deaths/cases are over-reported because of a data collection issue

The truth of the matter is not that UK numbers are rising but that they have actually fallen by 15%

Please be aware of this when you read NZ media reporting such as this on Newshub

“Britain has about 40,000 daily cases of COVID-19, according to the latest seven-day average. Another 214 were declared dead on Thursday.”

No it hasn’t and no they weren’t, in fact:

Barry Soper: This week has been a terrible one for this Government

This is an announcement of an announcement that would have been announced next week but now won’t be announced until next year, possibly.

The Prime Minister was gearing up for the announcement that she would head off to Europe on November 15 to pursue a free trade agreement with the region. It’s a deal that has been on the table for the past six years.

Jacinda Ardern came close to admitting she was planning the trip, appearing to justify it by saying the talks were reaching a critical stage, without ever saying it was on.

But it can’t have been that critical, because the trip’s now off. Those working to organise it have been told to down tools.

You would think the Beehive could have been more open about it.

It would have been inappropriate for Ardern to head off to Europe when the country is in such a state of chaos, and even more inappropriate for her entourage to come back to the country and claim MIQ slots, even though they had been arranged, when tens of thousands of Kiwis are going out of their minds waiting for their number to come up.

Her minders knew she would have received a lot of flak if she had gone, given she hasn’t yet even set foot in Auckland since she locked its citizens down almost three months ago. That’s happening sometime next week, we’re told.

But like everything with this Government, it seems to me transparency is like mud in your eye.

This is vintage Soper, and the PM only has herself to blame. She’s played cute with the Press Gallery over the proposed European trip to the point where the Opposition turned it against her, and she’s backed down.

Soper is dead right; it HAS been a crap week for Labour and for the PM, and it’s ironic that the virtual Labour Party is this weekend discussing the process by which Labour leaders are elected!

      Half right mate. Yeah history is written by the winners, the problem with CRT is the lens it forces people to look at the present and future interactions. For example we were taught about WW2 at school but were never told in the curriculum to judge presnt Germans as nazis. The poison with CRT is the segregated view of the world and how divisive and corrosive it is.         Aside from the Godwin aspect of your example the key is that the Germans actually went and atoned for the crimes of Nazism. They learn about it in school in a way where it is critiqued for what it is, an evil racist abasement of humanity.
        
        Meanwhile CRT, as an area of study, does not do what you infer. I assume you are inferring that white people are branded racist now because of slavery / colonism?
        
        Then only people claiming that are the ones whipping up hysteria about it on conservative news and Republicans looking for attention (in the US context).
        
        The US has never properly reckoned with its past, it was buried under the glitter of Paul Revere and heroic figures. It needs to do what Germany has done, and that doesn’t make current folks racist to acknowledge wrong was done and is still being done by systems which harm those communities.

        Some parents are always concerned that the nasty teachers might contradict the belief held dear at home. That sort of panic generally betrays a parent’s own insecurity that a child might be capable of independent thinking. Been chatting with friends from my gym in a forum and everyone complaining of health issues due to years of routine broken. While running and walking and prison style workouts are OK, doing weights and core compound exercises for years keeps your body in a certain state. Got guys complaining of bowel issues and muscle wastage. For many this is the longest break we have had for 30 years.
Point being I feel our natural immunity is being compromised due to lose of routine and ability to live as we please. Not to mention mental health. 2 guys are deeply depressed and weight training helps in this regard. Fcuk covid!

  Yep, workouts via Zoom(for those clubs running such things) are not the same either, when your work office, home environment, and gym are all the same space. There is no seperation mentally or physically. It is not the same motivational head-space to be moving furniture and reassembling it in front of a web cam.
  Also, certain things, like martial arts, are not really fully practical online.
  It is like standing on the side of a swimming pool and moving your arms. You might get a sweat, but you actually need the water when you are practicing at swimming.
  I am doing more weights, but much much less cardio (not motivated, for reasons above, and skimming the zoom stuff now)….and also rather drinking more than I should.
  Looking forward to the lock down ending.
  We are trying the ‘up to 25 outdoors’ and meeting in a public park this weekend though, for the first time.
  I’ll give that a go, over the zoom/Google meet stuff.
  All the competition athletes have been stuffed too. I missed out on some minor tournament opportunities over the last 18 months, but the real promising young ones/elite fighters are missing out on ‘education’ and development just like our school kids.

    There’s a viral video of a lady claiming to be involved in executive recruitment for the oil industry, saying that she’s been told that the oil companies are combing through the vaccinated employee’s and planning to replace them all within three years.

    In principle I agree and as a private person, i.e. Mr Shaun Hendy, he is free to say whatever he likes. The problem is, being a government anointed expert, he is no longer a private person and his pronouncements as Professor Shaun Hendy, Covid modeller are no longer personal, private opinions and carry certain consequences. It’s the same as with the politicians, particularly from the ruling party. For example, is the PM free to say publicly whatever she likes and will it be treated just as an opinion, which can be disregarded?

Jacinda never had any intention of opening the Auckland border for xmas.

Auckland under the rules can’t see level 2 again. We remain at level 3 until vaccine targets are met. Then instead of level 2 we enter the traffic light system which gets rid of borders around Auckland. So if we are not at the traffic light system we can’t leave Auckland.

So otherwords gyms, bars and restaurants can’t open in Auckland until the traffic light system. The rest of nz will be at level 2 enjoying Xmas while a locked up Auckland won’t even have bars and activities to enjoy over xmas. Because once we reach traffic light system the borders have to be removed. This is something we need to think about. If the border stays over summer then we have to remain at level 3 under the framework.

Well that’s my understanding but please correct me if I’m off base.

Hosking interviewed Sir Ian Taylor on the radio this morning, and Taylor was saying what it feels like to be in the U.S instead of NZ during the pandemic. He says it’s much better there. People are taking personal responsibility and just getting on with it.

Speaking from Los Angeles, Sir Ian Taylor told Mike Hosking on Newstalk ZB that he felt more comfortable over there than in Auckland.

“It’s been really great, an eyeopener. Just to start off, I have actually felt safer in terms of LA and San Francisco than I did passing through Auckland.

“One of things that’s really standing out for me now that I look back to where we are in NZ, the whole thing seems to be surrounded by a sense of fear. Up here they have kind of accepted that you have to move on. Now that you know that Covid is around, you wear your mask, you wash your hands. I’m doing more of that now than i did back in New Zealand.”

“When I went to Fox, you had to have a mask, show a negative test and if you didn’t have one you got tested at the gate before you went in and inside wear masks the whole time so we sat outside and had our meeting outside.

“I came here thinking this place was reckless, but they are more careful than we are.”

He said the big focus in the United States appeared to be on self-responsibility.

“I think the big focus up here is self-responsibility. They have a vaccination rate of 60 per cent. What I found is that if you want to have a test..I just had an antigen test in my hotel room half an hour ago, and I’m negative.

“You’re doing these things all the time, it’s just a different approach.”

  NZ has, on average, about 100 deaths a day.
  
  Almost all those 20 or 30 CV19 deaths would be one or more of:
  * Comorbidities that are dying anyway. (ie. no change)
  * Those that die slightly early with a short time shift (ie a time shift of a few months).
  * Those that would have been harvested by flu at any other time (ie. substitutions).

  Every time Shaun Hendy is quoted he goes well beyond his area of knowledge and expertise.
  
  How can he give an opinion on how long NZ will spend in the red light of the mythical traffic light system next year? That decision should be made with a number of factors taken into account, including impacts on the economy, new treatments, impact of restrictions on other areas of health, ability to maintain public compliance with rules, and any reduction in the “deadliness” of the virus. Sadly I can answer my own question, he can tell us that because Labour never takes any of those other factors into account in its decision making.
  
  As a “Covid Modeller” it would be great if Hendy could do something useful, like using data from overseas countries to help the government to understand the ways that it can reduce the impact of the virus without fucking the economy and destroying civil rights. I suspect his ideology prevents him from doing that.

Well, do any of you recall the raw footage of the Northland new conference which was disrupted?
…just as Ardern was suggesting a move indoors, with Kelvin beside her, she said “I just need to use the bathroom”.
I thought it was an oddly American phrase, compared to I need to take a dump” or “strain the spuds”, but also that the online news footage could edit that tidbit out.
Sadly, I can’t find such raw footage anymore on any places I checked just now, perhaps it has been edited.
But was that the smoking gun? 😉

I was inclined to make a complaint about today’s NZ Herald Joe Rogan story…. but, I see they have removed the part I was going to complain against.

The original text made claims that Ivermectin is only used to treat horse parasites and that Rogan went against expert advice in taking it. Something else too, can’t recall it just now.

In fact, Ivermectin is used to treat humans for river blindness and is very safe, and, Rogan’s doctor (who one would say is an expert), prescribed the human dose — because it couldn’t harm and has ‘potential’ to help against covid (it is still being trialled).

The original journalist should be warned for not checking facts, at the very least. Pleasing to see they corrected this though.

Mechanistically, we found that the spike protein localizes in the nucleus and inhibits DNA damage repair by impeding key DNA repair protein BRCA1 and 53BP1 recruitment to the damage site. Our findings reveal a potential molecular mechanism by which the spike protein might impede adaptive immunity and underscore the potential side effects of full-length spike-based vaccines.

The above study is interpreted by the article I found it on, as follows:

In a normal, healthy person, the NHEJ mechanism repairs the DNA and prevents a pathogenic mutation from occurring. But in the presence of the vaccine spike protein, NHEJ effectiveness is suppressed by as much as 90%, meaning it is unable to do its job due to the suppressed ability to recruit proteins for repair.

As a result, the following “errors” are introduced into chromosomes inside the nuclei of human cells, all due to the presence of the spike protein from mRNA vaccines:

Mutations or “errors” in the genetic sequence.
DELETIONS of entire segments of genetic code.
INSERTIONS of incorrect segments.
Mixing and matching / permutations of genetic code.

These errors, when expressed through cell division and replication, result in:
– An explosion of cancer and cancer tumors throughout the body
– Loss of production of immune system B and T cells (i.e. induced immunodeficiency)
– Autoimmune disorders

“Affected products include Chelsea Sugar’s raw sugar (500g, 1.2kg and 4kg), and soft brown sugar (500g and 1kg), Woolworths’ raw sugar (500g and 1kg) and brown sugar (500g and 1kg), and Pams’ raw sugar (1kg) and soft brown sugar (1kg).

They were sold during October, and up until today.”

“The lead contamination appears to have occurred in the supply chain en route from Australia to New Zealand, through a single bulk ship delivery that had previously been used for transporting industrial materials.”

  NZ has been in lockdown to the outside world for about twenty months or so.
  Thailand much the same and now that the borders have been flung open hardly anyone is visiting, except of course Pattaya seems to be doing OK.

Rittenhouse case update:

The DA got a rookie detective to NOT serve a warrant on one of the shooting “victims” to download his phone as it would have included evidence useful to the defense and then made that rookie detective the lead. Also didn’t record the interview with that witness. Recorded all other interviews and downloaded all other phones (including Rittenhouse’s when he provided them with the password as they couldn’t crack it).

Paraphrased excerpts:

DA asks cop (DA’s witness) if they were concerned about Rittenhouse:
Cop: he looked very young so we were concerned the protesters would attack him.

Binger (DA): So Rittenhouse shot Rosenbaum, in the back, as he was falling, correct?
McGinnis (DA’s witness): No, Rittenhouse didn’t fire until Rosenbaum charged and lunged at him.
Binger: So he shot him as he was falling?
McGinnis: No, not falling, lunging.
Binger: So you’re saying he shot him while he was falling?
McGinnis: No, that’s not my testimony. Lunging.

The judge should throw the case out at this point and the defense hasn’t even started.

So drug company Merck have released the new anti-viral drug molnupiravir in order to fight Covid. They have also released the formula, which is the same as Ivermectin with an additional element. Same with Pfizer’s new pill. But they can demonize Ivermectin and make money.

As a sample of one I can tell you of the hundreds of people in Auckland I interact with (in person) each week, none of them are living in fear over this thing, handshakes, hugs etc – basically everyone has reverted to life before COVID. Yes we do our part and wear a mask at the supermarket, but other than that it’s just a nonsense. We just need the shops and restaurants to open up before they all go bust at being forced to close for the last 3 months. 3 months FFS. The tax revenue the Government are missing out on with the cash economy in Auckland right now must be huge.

The reason I say this is that the panic that our MSM ramp up by finding some poor dot whos terrified of COVID in the regions as this thing spreads is, as you’ve no doubt guessed, not reflective of most of the population, who will quickly move on once COVID is in their community and they realise it’s not the black plague its been sold as.

Once the fear is gone what have the Government got left? Some awkward questions I suspect they’d rather not answer.

  We’ll be travelling, and there won’t be checks on ‘vaccine passports’ and COVID tests.
  
  It’s a terrible look for a Government when a large proportion of the population actively mocks their rules. It’s been happening for weeks in Auckland. My parents in their late 70s, who’d never dream of breaking any law previously, have openly been doing so for over a month. As have their friends.
  
  Anyone in Auckland that wants out knows someone who can get them an ‘essential worker’ letter – the process (like everything else this Government has come up with) is a total joke.
