If Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister believes that the protesters at Parliament yesterday were not a representative of the vast majority of New Zealander’s she is in cuckoo landing dumber than many people in this Country believe.
Ardern was asked if she could hear them from her office, “yeah”, she said, adding Parliament provided them with
microphones.
“What we saw today was not a representative of the vast bulk of New Zealander’s.

So if it wasn’t a representative of the vast bulk of New Zealander’s why is Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister at every opportunity blaming the unvaccinated for her incompetence and climbing numbers of the delta strain of Covid-19, and why does her visit to Auckland today 10th of November have a Itinerary of just meeting with workers, Business people, and frontline Health workers but not expected to be out in public where many people want to hear what excuses she will come up with next.
This is a Prime Minister that is willing to blame everyone except herself for Auckland being in lockdown for many mistakes she and her Government made, but when it comes to the truth it’s all mouth with no substance.

  I could be wrong but I doubt the majority of New Zealander’s want to see people lose their jobs because they believe the Vaccine is not for them, I had mine over three months ago but it doesn’t mean I disagree with New Zealander’s that haven’t.

    If we follow international trends it will only be three more months till you’ll need a booster. And if we follow the international trend, once we get vaccine passports they will expire six months after our last shot.
    
    The government seem to be doing their best to avoid having this discussion and the MSM are not pressing them on this issue.
    
    It’s a conversation that needs to be had before people sign up to vaccine passports, not after they have already under the assumption their two shots makes them “vaccinated” when that may in reality only be a temporary thing now they have handed their freedom over to needing regular vaccines for an unstipulated amount of time.

      Correct. The vaccine ‘passport’ shows that you are (unlikely to be) infectious. But after 6 months that is simply false. And after 12 months your chances of infection might only be 20 percent less than the unvaccinated.
      
      My ONLY reason to get vaccinated is to safeguard against serious illness. Vaccine passports are a waste of time unless they expire after 6 months pending a booster. It unknown what happens long term “post booster”.
      
      The other thing – if the unvacinated get infected – which they will – they should then be eligible for a “vaccine passport” because the evidence is that their natural immunity will be better than that of the vaccinated.
      
      Of course logic has gone. It is “get vaccinated” = “vaccine passport” = “you are safe”. As I have said here many times, science always wins. On climate change, in energy markets – in everything. If you base your energy policy on dreams, eventually the lights will go out. So on COVID, one day people will realise they have been lied to – when they are vaccinated and catch COVID from the vaccinated person sitting next to them on the plane.
      
      I don’t know what the end game is in New Zealand. But it is not happy safe people with vaccine passports that will be valid for several years.

        You are fixated on something you don’t know about (what people think and how they will react to the time limitations of the vaccines) Benedict, and ignore the widely released data and reports on the limits of vaccine life and the acceptance of that, the acceptance being that immunisation rates continuing to rise. And that questions on that have been put to Bloomfield, Hipkins, and PM. Perhaps you are expecting flyovers with banners.
        I’m looking forward to the release of data as to the limitations of Covid taking hold in communities that are highly vaxxed, and whether that in itself may protect the unvaxxed.
        Maggie asked the other day what good had come from the Government’s defence against Covid – here is one reported on Stuff yesterday in an interview with Ian Taylor:
        “Since the start of the pandemic, California has recorded more than 4.8 million confirmed cases and 72,500 deaths – adjusted for population, that would be the equivalent of 9000 dead New Zealanders. Of those deaths, nearly 27,000 have been recorded in Los Angeles – which has about twice the population of New Zealand, which has recorded just 7138 cases in the entire pandemic, 2335 of which are active.”

      One we nationally reach 90% double vaxxed which is looking increasingly likely (I’d be happy with 80%) then the vaccine passport should be superfluous.

      Well, when you read that Newshub, for example, is owned by Discovery, which has the same top shareholders as Pfizer and the same scenario with News Corp Australia, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms it is hardly unsurprising that we are not going to get any negative information about Pfizer when they’re all going to benefit from the sale of Pfizer vaccines and booster shots and it would be interesting to know what the Government’s kickback is from Pfizer as well.

    As someone who has been vaccinated I am completely opposed to the segregation being imposed on the unvaccinated . I refuse to patronise any business that requires its customers to be vaccinated. So the new gym that has just started up at the end of my street has lost a potential customer. I will not join in with this hysterical ill informed and illogical ostracisation of my fellow citizens at the behest of this ludicrous government.

      The problem is we had to reject a new employee who didn’t want to get vaccinated because several of our customers have vaccination as a requirement to go onsite. So we were left with no choice even though we are happy for employees to be vaccinated.

        @KK that’s incorrect in the situation described. Employers are permitted to make vaccination a condition of employment if their role is customer-facing, their customers require it, and it’s a new position.

        There are bars and cafes who will not discriminate and so I will frequent those. There is a sign that they’re displaying and now a list of businesses that do not discriminate. I have found a hairdresser and cafe etc. No problem there.

Sadly Ardern and her puppet media are not discussing the real issues that the rest of the world has and is now facing…..waning vaccine efficacy, booster 3&4, breakthrough infections with ICU filled with vaccinated people (Denmark and Israel).   It occurred to me that vaccinated or unvaccinated the only way to travel or do anything safely is with a negative test.
  
  A quick self test should suffice.
  
  Anything less and covid will spead around the country.
  
  As apposed to 3 to 7 days for a swab test, line up to show papers, travel documents, vaccine passport, ID to verify it is you, ticket, say 2 to 5 minutes per person, that works right.
  
  Just found out a friend’s daughter has covid, the whole family is now self isolating, they were all double vaccinated,

      You are correct, Covid will spread around the country. We should do what we should have at the very beginning. Those concerned (due to government fear porn) can go into self isolation and live forever (apparently). Otherwise protect the vulnerable, teach people about better health and diet and useful stuff like Vit D, Vit C, zinc etc.
      
      Maybe consider cheap care kits as used apparently with outstanding success in Uttar Pradesh? It would probably cost a weeks worth of the covid advertising budget and we would all get something nice in the post that showed the government actually cared a bit – AND we would get a reprieve from the inane covid ads.
      
      Those of us who have assessed the risk could carry on appropriately. That’s how a free society is supposed to work.

        But you miss the point and that is to get everybody inoculated with the mRNA. Do you believe that ANZ has not had advice on the infectivity of both the vaccinated and unvaccinated but instead have become part of Jacinda’s punish those who won’t obey her?

    Perfectly logical. I am not jabbed but if there was a simple, non invasive test (that didn’t involve sticking a dodgy swab almost into my brain and using a PCR test at 40 cycles making it worse than useless) – and it was going to make fellow travelers feel more comfortable then I would take it.
    But like almost everything else about this circus, nothing makes sense, nothing is logical, nothing works like we were led to believe.
    
    PCR tests – don’t work.
    MIQ – totally irrational and doesn’t work.
    The jab – doesn’t work as we were told and may actually be doing more harm.
    Vax certificates – won’t work.
    Sacking people not only won’t work, it is destructive behaviour as is rending the population and families apart deliberately as Ardern has done. A most malicious act.
    
    The question then has to be WHY??? I know a lot of it could be pure incompetence considering the people in the Beehive, but this is incompetence on a scale I’ve never seen in 50 plus years. The alternative is it is deliberate.

      While your eyes are clearly open, for those whose eyes are shut, the illogic is simply a result of trying to shoehorn the wrong conclusion into the given set of premises.         bronny1, I am not an “affected person”. Under the Covid-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, “affected persons” must not carry out certain work unless they are vaccinated. “Affected persons” are those who fit within certain groups of workers at managed quarantine facilities; managed isolation facilities; affected airports; affected ports; aircraft; and workers who handle items from those areas.

  Cindy’s response to the Wellington lockdown protest was they are not representative of the vast bulk of NZ as she referenced the vax rate of 89% (first dose etc). Overt politicization of the vaccine rate.
  
  The vaccine rate by Cindy is now a political a prop in state / Labo propaganda and to help ignore / hide failures in governance and policy. (Such as the actual delay in vaxx roll out)
  
  Vaxx rate as a political prop by Ardern. NZ is not a good place medically as they head off to vaxx 5 to 11 years old, ignore early treatments, ignore monoclonal antibodies, insist on mandated vaxxs, ignore hospital capacity and the corona vaccine dropping efficiency.

      I think a sizeable % will have been vaccinated because they want to keep their jobs and/or travel.
      
      I’ve never seen any need for the flu vax and I had no great desire to take the Pfiser jab, but after 2 years of being stuck in NZ, I have a greater desire to go travelling than spending 2022 Winter in NZ.
      
      However, if travel plans go belly-up, I’m timing my 2nd vax to get maximum benefit for when the shit really hits the fan in autumn-early winter NZ.

        It is hard to figure these counter factuals. But if there were no mandates and travel was open to the unvaccinated I think the vaccination rates would have been something like…
        
        – over 80s – 99 percent
        – 70 – 79 – 95 percent
        – 60 – 69 – 70 percent
        – 50 – 59 – 60 percent
        – 40 – 49 – 50 percent
        under 40 – less than 50 percent.

        Benedict, possibly, but if we had a vaccine with a damn sight fewer issues and problems, we would probably each 90%, because it would be worth it.
        
        There’s always some hold outs, but the primary issue now I believe is that there are actual dangers with the current vaccine. For those over 50 I don’t think there is any real doubts that although the protection is limited it is worth having and the benefits well outweigh the risks.
        
        But for young males, under 17 for example, I think there’s a lot of work required to show that there is any benefit at all for those without some special risk factors. And the risk is not zero.
        
        In between those ages of 17 and 49, somewhere there’s a breakpoint where the benefit is worth the risk, lower probably than higher. But for fit young healthy people, the benefit is likely fairly marginal.

      I’ve spent the last 18 months working to build up my immune system, including quitting smoking, and now some career bureaucrats are trying to force me to compromise my immune system with their experimental drug.
      I won’t be taking it to keep my job. My partner will be forced to shut down her business as she is of the same mind, so I’ll keep working as long as I can to support us both. I’m not in a frontline role so I should be able to keep my job.
      But I will take it to travel – i.e. to escape.
      I’m aiming to have my first jab around February/March and my second close to May (8-12 weeks apart ideally) so I can leave NZ. I need to be jabbed to fly and to enter the desired destination country (in SE Asia).
      And to all those who wish me ‘good riddance’ – thank you, but if I accidentally think of you while sipping cocktails on the beach at sunset it will only be to laugh about you.

    Let’s assume that this claimed rate is true: it’s very easy to plausibly speculate that at least half of that 89% of first doses didn’t act on any medical motivations, but instead were coerced solely on the expectation of having their stolen freedom returned, and so didn’t “voluntarily” get the vaccine in any real sense of the word.

  I am double-vaccinated, and can assure the PM that she does not speak for me. Despite her assurance on Election Night last year that she would govern for ALL New Zealanders, she and her government are creating a two-tier society; vaccinated and unvaccinated. The unvaccinated, whatever their reasons for not having the vaccine may be, are now being specifically targeted and disadvantaged, to the point where the PM last week suggested that those who are not vaccinated will not be allowed to leave Auckland over the holiday period.
  
  In terms of protests against her government however, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Let’s see how she feels after Groundswell’s Mother of All Protests takes place on Sunday week!

  What horrified me is that Judith Collins instructed all National MPs to not meet with the protestors, essentially showing the middle finger to those of us who are opposed to this lockdown and those opposed to this mRNA vaccine.
  This does not bode well for National or win them any support.
  I noticed that no party was prepared to meet the protestors, as if by ignoring the public opposition they could somehow make it all go away.
  The only party prepared to stand for our right to freedoms has been the tiny New Conservatives.

      Dead right Colville. She only had to look at the example of the media photographing Harete Hipango standing across the road from the Whanganui protest last week, then accusing her of supporting anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists.
      
      Interestingly, Labour MP’s Adrian Rurawhe and Steph Lewis were also there, awaiting the PM, but they scarpered as soon as they heard that Ardern was just going to drive on by, and do her presser at the Whanganui District Council. I’ve also heard from a couple of council staff that the PM’s mood before and after she faced the media was, shall we say, somewhat agitated!

        I totally agree with MATR. Why seek respect from despicable liars? I was at the protest yesterday and I have to say I am utterly appalled at how it was framed by the MSM. Their reporting is completely devoid of all reality. Seriously. It is simply fairy tales for the blind believers.
        
        Kiwis need to boycott MSM. They have truely become the enemy of the people. Judith should view any negative MSM articles as a badge of honour and pledge to revoke all media funding if her party ever regains power.

        Its 22 months till the election, 95% of what is done now will be forgotten. What is important is for Collins now is to slowly slowly sneek up on people and become relevant and likeable, and that is happening.       So she’s caught between a rock and a hard place. Do the right thing and listen to the people, or avoid the people to avoid bad publicity.
      To me this is the sign of a weak leader. She is going to get bad publicity no matter what she does, but there are a lot of people looking for strong leaders to replace the current bunch of wimps. Thinking people understand that you can meet with protestors even if you don’t endorse their message. You are then listening to the people, even if your final choices don’t align with what they wanted (do they ever?).
      As things stand she just comes across as another wimp, not prepared to talk to those with views different to your own.

        Told today that……”Parliamentary Security advised all staff and Members of Parliament not to go onto the forecourt or walk through the front of Parliament.
        
        While the protesters were there all entrances were closed with a heavy police guard at them.
        
        Some were throwing missiles at the media who ventured out.
        
        Despite some media describing the protest as ‘peaceful’ it actually was a very noisy and angry crowd of several thousand who came up to the steps leading to Parliament. ”

    They aren’t interested in change that rolls back the size and reach of the state, they are big government advocates, just like Labour, with the selling point that they will regulate and tax you more efficiently, more wisely.
    
    All the Nat supporters here hammer Ardern & Co. for their woeful approach but are either too conceited or too blinkered that they don’t see their team is essentially no different. It’s tribalism, plain and simple. As long as their team wins, who cares?
    
    The Nats will impose COVID borders. The Nats will restrict your rights with vax passports. The Nats will have equally complex rules for threat levels. They offer nothing substantially different.
    
    And if Collins issued such a directive to her caucus then it’s obvious she along with Ardern believes in turning NZ into a two-class society: the vaxxed and the unvaxxed.

    I’m finished with National. Done. They are unfit for purpose. I was, however, very pleasantly surprised by the Freedom Coalition speakers at Wellington yesterday. They spoke articulately, forcefully but rationally, and addressed all of my concerns about the Covid tyranny. They showed some real balls and a lot of promise. The turnout was amazing as well. It has given me faith that New Zealander’s are not all weak and submissive and lacking in courage. I say well done to all of them, and I see it as just a beginning. On the other hand, if National are in agreement with Labour on this, then they can step aside and be demolished like they deserve.

        so why then WaveyDavey are so many “professionals” so dead set against Ivermectin ? We have pretty good evidence that it works, and this excellent presentation provides some fairly clear explanations of just how it might do so.
        
        What i got from the video is that not only does Ivermectin prevent the ACE2/S protein interaction to enable the virus to enter the cell (the interaction I was familiar with), but it also acts within the cell itself and inhibits the 3CL Protease action as well.
        
        With this sort of theoretical and practical information available, why is there not a serious attempt to validate Ivermectin as a treatment ? That’s the key to me, Ivermectin is dirt cheap, it has a really excellent safety record, and it *should* at least reduce the viruses ability to infect and replicate. What’s not to like ?
        
        Is there a reasonable argument anywhere for why we should not be as a very minimum, testing the use ?
        
        And I am a great proponent of just using it anyway, because it costs SFA to supply to people when diagnosed, in the correct human doses it is extremely safe, and even if only works a little, it is almost certainly the least expensive way to reduce the potential load on our hospitals.
        
        So, WHY NOT ?

        As far as Ivermectin goes the only thing that can truly be said of its use in C19 treatment is that the jury is still out

Pharmac is another entity well versed in stacking their advisory groups such as appointing an orthopaedist hating pharamacist to oversee their orthopaedic advisory.       He’s a nurse by background and profession, and an educator, specifically nursing lecturer at University. That’s not to say that he’s not knowledgeable about medicine, how the body works and nursing because he clearly is, but he’s not a cellular and molecular biologist, or a pharmacologist, or a virologist, so sometimes he gets the fundamentals of those wrong, which he would freely admit to himself.
      
      Someone involved in drug development, for example a pharmacologist at a big pharmaceutical company, has a PhD in that field, in otherwords at least 7 years training, and then all the additional training and experience they would have acquired after completing their PhD. A one year post graduate qualification simply does not rise to that level, or have that depth and breath of knowledge, and it may well be that his post-grad diploma was in clinical pharmacology anyway – the use of medicines in treating disease, interactions between drugs, how the body metabolises drugs, their half-life, side effects etc., which would make sense since he is/was a nurse.
      
      I know he is a great fan of Ivermectin, I haven’t followed in any depth why he likes it so much. Suffice it to say, that the drug has thus far at least failed to gain much cut through with the regulatory authorities and doctors in the US, the UK or the EU as an approved treatment for Covid. I’m assuming that is because the research findings on the matter to date are ambiguous and not settled, and that there are other treatments that are available, so you know, who needs ivermectin? It’s not a cure after all.

        Yet there is a huge resistance to even allow it to be thought about. It sounds terribly conspiratorial, but is there something in the agreements that Pfizer (and others) make with governments that somehow blocks the advocacy for alternative treatments ? The regulators will be looking for high-certainty evidence, established from a multicentre double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial, with a good number of participants (>1000).     You could do worse than look at some of the lectures and realise that to be able speak so clearly about a very complex subject (the human body) so that the ignorant become knowledgeable, deserves more acknowledgement than your disparagement.
    You could start with the one about the heart and its function, and then move on to the the lungs, which are both affected by

Has the removal of 600,000 books from the National Library been discussed before? A grant has been given for this process which started 2 years ago. The main reason given is to provide the space for the 2,000 odd books published in New Zealand each year as opposed to the 600,000 that had been published overseas. About 300 years worth of space then………….Sigh

    This isn’t a local lending library we’re talking about. It’s the national book collection of this small, remote country.
    
    It would have been a tiny cost, compared with the millions the Government and bureaucrats throw around, to provide extra storage space, perhaps out of Wellington, and keep, rather than give away, thousands of titles paid for by taxpayers.
    
    I think previously Mike/Mikenmild suggested all titles would be available electronically any way. This ignores the frailty of electronic storage. It’s less durable than paper. Drop-out from electronic files begins after a few years.
    
    The cull makes room for NZ titles and Pacific titles.
    
    NZ publishes, say, 2,000 or 3,000 titles a year. Pacific Islands together publish a few hundred. About half a million titles are published in the English language each year.
    
    You can bet the National Library’s remnant small holding will focus on: the tiny dribble of titles in Maori language; English-language titles supporting a Maori ethno-state; our ever-more “decolonised” national histories; NZ novels, overwhelmingly Woke; and perhaps slim volumes or poetry from the ever more varied minority communities.

    I was really disappointed to hear & see Judith Collins label the protesters yesterday as ‘the unvaccinated or anti-vaxer’s. She doesn’t know that and I am willing to bet a good deal of that crowd have been inoculated.
    They were New Zealanders standing up for themselves is what they were. They represent me even if I don’t agree with everything they believe in.
    Still my fellow countrymen.
    Why do people, politicians, bureaucrats, health officials even give a toss whether or not someone is inoculated?

        A person has a right to access land and free flow of water – that’s it at common law. There are no other right and certainly no right to a view or any other “rights” made up to disguise NIMBYism.
        
        My starting point is that I don’t get to decide how other people live and what they do to their property unless it interferes with my rights. Maybe you think you can control others but I don’t.

    Parliament’s Speaker Trevor Mallard said security had never been as tight as it was today.
    
    He said the Parliament grounds were crawling with police and security and all entrances apart from one had been blocked off.
    
    National Party leader Judith Collins also said she had never seen so much security, but hoped the protests would be peaceful.
    
    Parliament’s main entrances are all locked down and some protesters have set up ahead of the main march arriving.

      I was at the protest yesterday the image that is seared in my mind is that of one man kneeling on the ground letting the elderly stand on one leg to get into parliament and them being assisted by a man on the other side. There were people of all generations vaxed and unvaxed marching against the mandates and division of society.
      I guess the politicians must have been terrified when we sang the national anthem to them and reminded them they work for us.

    Regardless of instances of this and that, Judith does now seem to have the caucus behind her, at least to the public. National are also quietly releasing actual policy and increasing the number of spox getting airtime.
    
    Looks to me like a careful and considered strategy, and that would not be too surprising given the experience in and out of caucus, and the time to the next election. ACT are following a similar approach, though more carefully as most of their MPs are still breathing through the nose.

So as most Government “action”, no matter the issue, seems to be to “kick the can down the road”, with Climate Change they intend kicking some of it into other people’s backyards.
And in terms of what is an Ardernian “nuclear moment”, carbon absorption equates with disposing of nuclear waste – since in about thirty years time, mature forest trees fall over and rot, or pose a decomposing carbon-releasing problem in someone else’s backyard. Either because we have physically exported logs there, or now as seems to be the grand plan: grew them there to start with, while we don’t as greatly reduce New Zealand’s own emissions as would seem fundamental.

  It’s also wonderful how James can go overseas and know that he will be able to get back ahead of everyone else who has been trying to get an MIQ spot for months.
  
  And while he is overseas he can ensure that the New Zealand economy will decline by committing to cutting down our emissions to hopelessly unrealistic levels.

I went to the Wellington march yesterday, largely to add my voice to those opposing this Government. Accompanying me was a man who had lost his business, and his livelihood during last years lockdown, and another whose son had passed away in Auckland and had been refused permission, along with his two brothers, to attend the funeral.
Think about that. The Government stopped him attending his own son’s funeral. In New Zealand. In 2021.
I see on TV News and hear on RNZ that the march is described as an odd assortment of anti-vaxers and other ‘misfits’. How convenient.

That was not what I saw and heard on the march. There is anger growing at the way this country is being divided by Ardern, and her media.
It seems odd that in this team of five million, in this ‘communidy’ we hear about so often, those who accept the responsibilities such membership demands are the ones that are denied the simple humanity of grieving for a son.
We want better things for the next generation. Better things for New Zealand than is being offered by this Government, who seek to smash everything in the search for ‘equality’ of outcomes.
We are the ones who, deep down, Ashley, Jacinda, Grant and their bureaucratic and media crew despise more than anyone else.

  Well said. The brush off that the majority of NZ don’t agree is false and yet another attempt to divide the nation. As anyone in marketing knows, a single complaint letter equates to 20 who feel the same but just can’t be bothered writing. Turning up and protesting, the ratio is larger still. While I don’t agree with all the sentiments and groups on display, some I do. It’s fascinating to see such disparate groups mixing to protest. Nurses, teachers, business owners rubbing shoulders with gang members and church fanatics.

    I fully expect these protests will go the same route as pretty much every other one around the world and become “mostly peaceful”. Because these people are just going to be ignored, then the cops will try and arrest them all because its bad PR for Cindy. Mostly they will use excuses like posting something on facebook (as happened a lot in Australia, and I think already happened here to the FRC during Auckland level 4) to keep it out of the public eye. That will make them way angrier because they are being backed into a corner, with a lot of time on their hands (no jobs any more and all), where do these idiots in power think this is going to end up?

  Prince – I think the stopping of people from attending the funeral of a family member has been terrible. I know last year a local funeral director had to stop a daughter from attending her own father’s funeral. “Could I not just stand at the back? I promise not to touch anything.” But all to no avail. Because of government edicts on Covid she could not attend her own father’s funeral. That’s just poor.

  Very well said Prince – my thoughts had been along these lines.
  
  One cannot help but get the feeling that the PM’s PR department has been all over the expected reporting standards of yesterday’s protest in advance. A scan of all the MSM outlets last night and this morning seem to show pretty well identical themes being reported.
  – the protesters virtually all anti vaxxers with a small mix of the professional hanger oners ( 1080’s, etc ) – little said about the loss of freedoms/ mandates aspect which appeared evident from live videos and this theme of course nicely dovetails to the PM’s view of the protests significance.
  – the extreme far right/Trojan horse plus Capital hill theory – strange how it was mentioned by so many outlets rather than just maybe one or two
  – negative innuendoes in live reports/blogs and how this was going to turn nasty – but it didn’t! – bit of an oops there – presumably as they hadn’t realised the protest group would have their own security along to keep things stable.
  Mondays MSM heads conference call/briefing must have been pretty detailed. I just love this sort of transparency.

    What I find interesting is that despite the narrative, they can’t seen to produce very many pictures of “Anti-Vax” protesters.
    
    The closest I saw was what looked to be a ten year old with a poster that read “I am not a science experiment”
    
    Then there’s the whole 9 seconds of clip with people allegedly threatening a TVNZ camera man.
    I’m sorry, but a 9s clip does nothing to allay my fears that those particular protesters weren’t taunted into their response.

  Well said Prince. I would have loved to go to yesterday’s protest, but I had other commitments. However I have been careful to keep the afternoon of Sunday 21st November free, and will be interested to see what the PM has to say after tens of thousands of New Zealanders turn out for the Mother of All Protests.

    The fact they have have started to deflect the focus from the genuine issues, I suggest, shows how worried they are.

Welcome to another day of lockdown tyranny.

I watched the protesters at parliament yesterday from Auckland, numbers looked impressive.

The prime ministers response was that they were a very small minority, that the vast majority supported what the government was doing.

I look forward to the government sponsored pro lockdown pro vaccine mandate protestes.

Take out the MSM and they might fill a service station forcourt.

I wonder if police are also in line for a vaccine mandate, sounds logical given their client base.Gangs, unvaccinated etc

Kakariki Kids in Golden Bay looks after 50 littlies. And looks like closing this week. It will not be the only one. There is already a shortage of ECE teachers, and this will be more so in rural and provincial areas.

Thing is, there will be a flow on effect possibly for months or even years – more workers who can’t, more benefits applied for, more rents or mortgages falling behind. And last but certainly not least, increased stress in multiple households.

  This situation is going to be mirrored right across the ECE sector Artemisia, especially away from the main centres. The Home Based ECE sector is particularly targeted. Not only are Home Based Educators required to be vaccinated, but the requirement extends to every person in their home over the age of 12 years. A number of Home Based ECE services will close as a result of this, and many others will face a significant drop in revenue. But worst of all, the rate of children participating in ECE will plummet, after years of successive governments making participation in ECE a high priority.
  
  Here’s the ultimate irony though. When New Zealand went into Level Four lockdown in August, to whom did Minister Hipkins and the MoE turn to provide ECE services for the young children of essential workers? Yep, the same Home Based ECE sector he now seems determined to decimate.

Who’s right and who’s wrong when it comes to vaccine mandates for education workers?

Is it Chris Hipkins right, when he said this Radio NZ?

Teachers would not be pitched out of the classroom if they had not had their first dose by Tuesday, he said.

“Those who are not fully vaccinated between now and the end of the year, and need to have a weekly test until they are fully vaccinated.

“And then of course, from the 1st of January, teachers need to be fully vaccinated if they’re coming back into the classroom next year.”

Or is the Ministry of Education right with this advice to schools and early learning centres?

We expect most education workers will be fully vaccinated. Staff members who do not meet vaccination requirements cannot return to work onsite from Tuesday 16 November and they will be committing an infringement offence if they do so.

This is simply not good enough. The MoE’s advice seems crystal clear; unvaccinated staff must not go onto their work site, and are breaking the law if they do. Yet Hipkins is suggesting that it’s not as cut and dried as that, and there’s plenty of wiggle room.

Our service will continue to follow the Ministry of Education’s advice. The Minister needs to get on message, or if he still believes he’s right, get the MoE to modify their advice to education providers.

So today I am pissed off.
My school is loosing a number of great teachers who, for whatever reasons they have, are exercising their human right to refuse a medical treatment and getting fired for it.
I am pissed off that the media constantly pushes the narrative that it’s the only way to keep kids safe (when it isn’t. The current C19 vaccines don’t stop you getting or spreading C19).
I am pissed off at the mindless zombies who are so stocked up on fear that they crap themselves when anyone suggests disagreeing with “Aunty”.
I am pissed off that this lovely country I now call my home is becoming an Authoritarian Dictatorship where we’re told that they don’t give a damn about democracy, you will fall into line (mandates, lockdowns, 3 waters etc.)

    Everyone has the right to refuse to undergo any medical treatment.
    
    International Law is clear:
    The Nuremburg Code Article 6, Section 1:
    Any preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical intervention should only be carried out with the prior, free and informed consent of the person concerned, on the basis of adequate information. Consent shall, where appropriate, be express and may be withdrawn by the person concerned at any time and for any reason, without disadvantage or prejudice.
    Article 6, Section 3:
    In no case shall a collective community agreement or the consent of a community leader or other authority substitute for the informed consent of an individual.
    
    The sophists who claim Nuremburg applies only to experimental medicine are wrong both on the Law and on the particulars. Article 6, section 3 is directly applicable and the statement issued by Dr. Eric Rubin, a voting member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory committee (which I assume is considered authoritative by our Government): “We’re never gonna learn about how safe the vaccine is until we start giving it,” is evidence that the so-called “vaccines” are indeed experimental.

    Blood clots have been reported in Novavax trials, but they are rare.

    You’re far more likely to get blood clots from covid-19 than these vaccines, so I suppose it’s a matter of rolling the dice.

      Perhaps the Novovax / protein-based vaccines won’t be a “golden ticket” to freedom either, but they may well be a better alternative for folks with blood circulation problems.

      Except I know for a fact that the Year 3 student from St Mary’s who died had blood clots in her legs. She was perfectly healthy before the shots. What’s more, we know how the vaccine does it. It gets into circulation and starts producing the spike protein in cells it shouldn’t such at the endothelial cells that line the arteries. The white blood or T cells then end up attacking those cells which results in clotting. It’s science.

      Medsafe simply cannot be trusted. Although Moderna has been more in the news about clotting issues and heart problems, Pfizer’s vaccine has very similar issues.
      
      And outside specific syndromes and diseases, blood clots aren’t that common. Covid can cause clotting and related issues, it is, after all, a virus that infects cells that are key to the vascular system.

Apparently “Let’s Go Brandon” is a far-right “Q” conspiracy theory. the Eureka flag is white supremacist, it (the protest) had elements of aspects of white nationalism and Maori nationalism. Which must be really confusing for the editors, because Maori nationalism = good, any other nationalism = bad.

It’s been a long time coming, but the wheels are really falling off the bus in South Africa right now.

While there are numerous problems, the biggest and most obvious is that Eskom, their power provider, is not keeping the lights on.

They are currently at “Stage 4” load shedding which means there theoretically 6 hours per day average of rolling black outs. But that could be more on a specific day. Today (their time) the Johannesburg CBD was without power from 12 to 2.30. So stay late to make up lost time? Nope, not really, more load shedding from 8pm to 10.30 pm – a total of 7.5 hours of power outages today.

So far, South Africa has had a total of over 1000 hours (42 days) of various levels of load shedding. There is no end in sight and they are quite likely to hit 1500 hours (60 days) of load shedding this year and things are likely to get worse.

So how have they got into this position? In a word: maintenance. More precisely: lack of.
If you want another word: corruption.
And another: green fraud. (Ok, that’s two words).

The old coal fleet that is keeping them going is around 40 years old and has been poorly maintained and driven far harder than it should. This is leading to huge breakdowns.

The two new power stations that were started in 2007 and should have been completed in 2014 are still not fully commissioned and are less reliable than the older units they were supposed to be replacing. Massive cost overruns have seen these white elephants costing more than 5x what they were supposed to cost.

And are they going to sort this problem out? Nope. They keep on making noises about building massive solar farms instead (gotta be seen to be green in front of their UN luvvies). There is no solution doing this.

As a person who once worked in Eskom generation planning I am actually quite surprised they have lasted this long with such poor maintenance regimes. But now they’re at a stage where they are robbing Peter to pay Paul – for example running OCGT generators to fill pump storage – absolutely unheard of even 5 years ago.

There are some lessons in this for NZ:
* A robust electrical supply providing low cost energy is critical to the economy and life.
* Address problems before it is too late. Don’t wait for grid failures to start. You need to be a decade ahead of the curve.
* New technologies are interesting, but don’t bet on them. Do experiments first. Keep using the reliable tech.
* Upgrade the grid before you need it, not after it fails. The NZ inter-island link is one of the week spots.

    Yup, how can you sustain a business on anything like that?
    
    Even if they are not getting load shedding from Eskom there are numerous other issues too.
    
    Eskom is only flipping big switches at the grid level. This often causes further outages when the substations and lower down are switched on again.
    
    When they switch on a substation after a 2.5 hour power outage, two major things happen:
    * Substation transformers have cooled down. Transformers are not supposed to be switched on or off often. They are designed to be turned of maybe two or three times a year – not three times a day. On top of this they are poorly maintained. When they are switched on again, it is common for them to fail – sometimes dramatically catching fire and exploding.
    * When the load connects again it is often very high due to hot water heaters all being on and cooled down a bit etc. This adds strain to the sub stations causing increased failures and increased power outages at the lower level.
    
    Thus the load shedding at the advertised “Stage 4” of 6 hours per day can easily become more by the time the customer sees it.
    
    Of course, as the “stages” increase, these problems are exacerbated.

      This was happening to Spoornet (Railways) in the mid 2000s.
      
      They used to do considerable preventative maintenance, replacing parts on the schedule.
      
      In 94/95 that schedule got thrown out the window as were some of the staff doing the maintenance.
      
      Then things started failing from lack of maintenance, and they lacked the skilled man power to fix it quickly.
      
      I doff my hat to the Engineers Eskom who built a grid that operated for almost 15 years without investment or preventative maintenance.

      Will the fuel shortage dethrone Biden and will his replacement open up the US’s self-sufficiency in Oil and Gas again or will the US come to a grinding halt?
      Don’t forget, we’re at the arse end of the world and Supply Chain dependant with our Oil and Gas industries either shut down or running down by Govt edict.
      You don’t need to be a brain surgeon to figure out the common denominator here: America, NZ and South Africa all have Govts desirous of being Socialist and the Arabs (OPEC) are in a position to prevent this.

  Another lesson for New Zealand – hire on merit, not on race. So many white people have lost their jobs because of race-based discrimination against them that they constitute an underclass living in parks under makeshift shelter.
  
  The black people who have had the keys to 1st world South Africa have struggled to run the nation. They have been complicit in allowing white farmers to be murdered or driven off the land.
  They have not been able to provide law and order so rioting and looting have become endemic.
  
  Now we find they can’t even keep the lights on. Maybe instead of discriminating against white people they should have made all hiring decisions on merit.

    Many South African companies started hiring on the basis of merit, ignoring race, in the late 80’s early 90’s simply to meet skills shortages.
    
    My Grandfather (who retired in ’76) hired a black clerical worker purely on the basis that he could read.
    
    30 years later that guy was a director of the company. He would seek out my Grandfather at events the company used to organise for it’s retirees.

      Yup, my father mainly employed non-white article clerks in Pietermaritzburg in the 1960s/70s.
      
      Experiences in Cape Town were always different than the rest of South Africa too.
      
      We had many coloured office workers etc in Cape Town – even in local government offices, police, hospitals etc. I was treated by non-white medical staff more than once.
      
      At University of CT we had multi-racial students – including in the halls of residence – and lecturers too. One of my lecturers was Indian, another was Xhosa. That was in the early 1980s.
      
      A lot came down to who was in control. For example, buses were controlled by the CT City Council and were multi-racial. Trains were controlled by the government railways and were segregated.
      
      Apartheid was an appalling system. It is destructive to all involved. There were no winners and losers – just varying degrees of losers. That is what makes it so awful to see shades of it emerging here.

    Cape Town is having supply issues too – it gets load shed just the same as everyone else.
    
    Cape Town has some of its own generators, but when the load shedding is done these are considered part of the common generation pool.
    
    Cape Town is different because it has always been different. Before and during apartheid it was different with far more lax apartheid laws etc. It was a bit of Europe stuck on the tip of Africa.
    
    Cape Town is very different mainly because there are fewer black people there meaning the voting patterns are different and the ANC are not running the place. Cape Town is mainly run by whites and coloureds and is far more based on ability rather than race.

    I think that Koeberg can’t supply the entire demand for Cape Town, and the balance comes from the national grid.
    
    Koeberg has two reactors, one can be down for maintence, and the grid (under normal conditions) would fill the hole, but if both reactors are down then the distribution network doesn’t have the capacity to supply CT, even if generation capacity were there.

      No, not really.
      
      While Koeberg is situated close to Cape Town, it is not owned and controlled by Cape Town. It is owned by Eskom and is thus managed as part of the national grid. There are also a few inconsequential Eskom-owned OCGTs in and around Cape Town. All up just over 2GW when it is running.
      
      AFAIK, the only generation that Cape Town owns is Steenbras Dam pumped storage which is only 180MW and is a pumped storage “battery” so it only stores power – doesn’t make it.
      
      You are entirely correct that all this generation located in and around Cape Town is nowhere near enough to power its needs and probably doesn’t even make up 50% of its needs – even when it is all running flat out. Last I checked, only half of Koeberg was running as one reactor was down for maintenance.
      
      Still, having local generation helps provide network stability as it reduces the amount of power that needs to be jacked through 1600km of wires from the old-Transvaal. It’s similar to what Huntley does for Auckland.
      
      This lack of local generation is one of the things that makes the Cape Exit succession very challenging – if not close to impossible. What’s the point of succession and trying to stabilize a region if you have to import power from a basket case state next door? Sure, there’s solar but building enough solar to provide 5GW of power is a huge expense.

How could you work as “health professional” and not give patients treatment advice to help them from being hospitalization. Is gubermint simply that shithouse?

On another note. Our covid response reminds me of many a warriors game I have watched. Up by 24 points at the break against a bottom 4 team. Lose a man in the bin in the first 10 minutes of the second half, followed by sloppy defense and gifting of possession. 10 minutes to go all locked up 30-all.

Most often the warriors would lose from there and I suspect so will the Ardern government.

        But if Jacinda botches it up, the taxpayer pays. If someone posting on Kiwiblog botches it up and attracts attention from some disgruntled party, DPF has to meet any costs and expenses out of his own pocket (and it can still cost big even if he is vindicated). Big difference.
        Remember that Cam Slater had to declare bankruptcy (and suffer stress related health issues) with respect to Whaleoil, so it is within the realms of possibility (though highly unlikely) that DPF could suffer a similar fate.   I am genuinely curious to know what are the most common “misinformations” about the vaccines that are being spread? I see the word used continuously in the MSM, but have yet to see any descriptions, or a list of places where they are being disseminated. Or am I living in something of a cocoon? I would be very happy for someone with more knowledge of this than I to give a quick run-down in a posting. Since then, there have been two more fatal crashes.

        Indeed – thing that concerns me is that Min of Justice has his review currently going on. Now I’m no constitutional legal beagle but my understanding is that some electoral change matters need a parliamentary super majority to pass, others a simple majority. With the sentiment tide perhaps changing I’d be pretty concerned as to what may happen next, and if people disagree well it suddenly seems pretty easy to use “health orders” as a convenient go to tool to discourage overt population based political disagreement.

“However on 4 May 2009, scarcely one month before the H1N1pandemic was declared, the web page was altered …” The phrase “enormous numbers of deaths and illness had been removed and the revised web page simply read as follows, “An influenza pandemic may occur when a new influenza virus appears against which the human population has no immunity.”

Global Pandemic is used today by media and govt to alarm us. But an official global pandemic is simply a widespread virus nothing to do with severity. I would also ask are we still in a global pandemic. If the WHO’s definition is that it is a new virus and the world is now in our second season of Covid after many waves.. It may have been a pandemic last year but Covid is no longer new.

    Batteries have gone from around 10billion 10 years ago to an expected 300billion in another 5 years. There is a huge ramp up in R&D that will inevitably lead to dramatic improvements in battery performance. Probably double their energy density in coming decade, and a chance of radical breakthroughs that take it far farther.

  So why wouldn’t it be required for those who are looking for work (part of being prepared to take a job) or receiving benefits (to do their bit, as part of the team of 5 million, to protect the health system)?

The Government has quietly retreated from ‘no-vax-no-teaching’ stance; deciding that non-vaxed teachers will not ‘be pitched out of their classrooms’ but will have to be tested weekly.

At least until January. And this will go beyond in my view.

Despite not being ‘representative of the huge bulk’ of New Zealanders, and a pompous dismissive media response, it appears the tiny numbers of wacky ‘anti-vaxers’ yesterday may have had some tiny impact, after all.

Go figure.

PS a massive shout out to the nurses and teachers unions who stabbed their members in the back and watched this totalitarian wet-dream unfold without a whimper.

As noted by others, Captain Coward sneaked into Auckland today for one or two carefully staged visits, and cravenly avoided anybody with any connection to hospitality and, most of all, the filthy public.

Could this ghastly woman be any more despicable? I’ve hated a number of politicians over the decades, but none with the incandescent intensity that I hate this one. And that seems to be what she’s done to us. I’m nowadays frequently encountering people who hate her wretched guts, stacked up on one side against all the fawning Jacinderites who propel her to fantastic victories in the preferred PM polls. Rather than “governing for all NZers” and leading the “team of 5 million”, she has divided us completely.

Yesterday, after the demonstration in Wellington, three teachers died in a vehicle accident going home.

Was it only a couple of years ago that many would have been aghast, and sympathetic about this tragedy?

Now, it is largely overlooked by the media, after all, who would want to make these deaths a focus of sympathetic outpouring.

Weren’t they after all, supporting the wrong narrative?.

Jacinda Ardern’s Government has turned us into a nation of heartless, spineless simpletons.

My sincere condolences to their bereaved, their school, their communities.

May their deaths not have been in vain.

Announced today: Reporting to change on the way we record covid deaths currently under guidelines any death where the person has a covid infection is recorded a an covid. These
will now be marked under investigation. Also today another person “dies suddenly” while isolating at home with Covid in Glen Eden. Also second day in a row where armed police are in Glen Eden. Any relation between the death and armed events? Who knows – but we are never any wiser after reading nz newspapers. Perhaps they could give us a few more details about the circumstances of all these deaths isolating at home. Certainly very weird. Also no note of his vaccination status or vax status of other home sudden deaths

When a bank looks at their profits and say they are reasonable compared to the size of their balance sheet….. is the money the bank ‘borrows’ to ‘lend’ counted in their balance sheet?

I’m guessing so, but to me , this is misleading when looking at profits being reasonable or not.

But, I’m not an accountant so I don’t know what i’m talking about 🙂

Defense Witness (because until now all the witnesses were supposed to be on the State’s side) admits that the Prosecutors tried to get him to change his statement.

ME (last witness for State) states that first kill was close and not an execution (which was one of the only plays the State had to get a conviction).

Yet another day of wins for the defense.

It’s worrying though because the Chauvin trial played out much the same way although this is definitely more clear cut.

A quick query, if anyone on KB can help ?

I mentioned in a comment above how I want to travel to Auckland to pick up my son and bring him home. That is a permitted personal exemption on the travel restrictions, so i think we have that covered.

What I just cannot find out is whether I am allowed to stay in Auckland overnight while picking him up (and loading a trailer) as it is too far to drive both ways in a day. Does anyone know more about how this all works ? The existing website is deficient in detail, it says I can travel to retrieve him, but nothing much else. And the only apparent way to contact the government on this is via email, which has, according to them, a “10 working days response time”. Which, being government, means probably sometime next year !

If anyone knows more about these rules, any direction would be appreciated, or if anyone knows who might be contacted by phone or email with a reasonable response time ?

Thanks to anyone who has information, and sorry to have to revert to this, but there just don’t seem to be any contact points for queries.

They told him they could arrange all the necessary papers for him to get through the border and back, but the only condition was he had to return the same day, i.e. no sleep over.

  If you can get into Auckland I doubt they will have time to track you down on your overnight stay. They might ask you though for a negative covid test within 72 hours of exiting Auckland. The PCR travel tests are coming back overnight with a text. I suggest making a test appointment at a local medical centre and then taking the test direct to Lab test afterwards.

    Thanks to all those who replied.
    
    If anyone is interested, I contacted the police via their 105 non urgent number and was put onto a very helpful young lady who basically said that there’s no actual rule about overnight stays but that the police, unofficially, were much happier if people didn’t drive for 12 hours+ to avoid a stay over. So staying appears to be accepted though not clearly allowed for.
    
    Also I emailed the “Covid response team” who actually replied promptly. They also advised that overnight stays are OK if one cannot drive both ways safely. I do have to have a negative Covid test to exit Auckland, but as I will be there < 24 hours I will have to have one before I go in order to get the result back in time. Which seems particularly stupid but them's the rules.
    
    Otherwise, subject to all sorts of required documents and the like, it may be doable.
    
    Wonder when the process will get simpler.

So the Herald and Stuff both report that Mittens the cat is moving from Wellington to Auckland. And that Aucklanders flooded their newly opened shops.

Remember how the Prime Minister, the one who hasn’t been in the nation’s largest city for months now, was due to visit today? It was announced live to the nation on Monday, IIRC.

No headlines about that on either site.

Any one surprised? [vast silence] Any one?

The Labour government has now governed one year alone. It is interesting at this juncture to compare their performance against what the Nazis implemented in their first year governing alone in Nazi Germany in 1933.

In 1933, the Nazis implemented the following:

1. Boycott of Jewish shops and businesses
2. Laws for Reestablishment of the Civil Service – these barred Jews from holding civil service, university, and State positions.
3. Public burning of books written by Jews, political dissidents, and others not approved by the State.
4. Law stripping East European Jewish immigrants of German citizenship.

In 2021, how is Cindy doing, in comparison?

1. Laws for the boycott of unvaccinated shops and businesses – implemented.
2. Laws for the Reestablishment of the Civil Service – forbids the unvaccinated from holding certain civil service, university, and State positions.
3. Public burning or destruction of books or blogs written by unvaccinated, political dissidents, and others not approved by the State introduced.
4. Laws effectively stripping unvaccinated of full NZ citizenship brought in.

Mein Fuhrer Cindy has been as busy in 2021 as the National Socialists were in 1933!

So the govt are now offering the AstraZeneca vaccine for anyone who can’t have or doesn’t want the Pfizer vaccine. But it’s just as bad!

In Australia they limited its use to the over 60s because of clotting issues. They really are clueless ?‍♂️

  This is much worse than I thought. ICU capacity is pitiful. Our hospital systems are already showing the strain at 1-200 diagnoses per day – and remember hospitalizations lag behind case numbers by a week or two. The back office functions – gold standard contact tracing and managing home isolation are falling over.
  I have heard an account of a Chinese family with Covid, who report crowded wards, staff unwilling to interact with patients and the attitude seems to be to move people out of hospital wherever possible. We already have 3 deaths at home that are possible covid deaths. People appear to be left to isolate at home with no theraputics and maybe not even basic monitoring equipment.
  Blofeld says everything is working well! I remember early on in the pandemic he was making similar claims about PPE.
  It appears that we have had 18 months of isolation and lockdowns but haven’t used that time to prepare – relying instead on 90+% vaccination being a silver bullet which will cover all these other deficiencies.

Has clearly been paid for and sent out by Ardern’s PR department to various overseas outlets, then the geotagging picking up you are from NZ and forcing you to read it. That’s one way of getting to the nz female voter base that frequent Daily Mail.
A similar article popped up on daily mail yesterday and the 500 comments were scathing and accurate in this being a PR stunt. (95% of the comments calling Ardern out for a load of things).

Today if you go to that DM article all the comments have been wiped by DM. You would only be able to do that with a spin department and paid advertorial arrangement.
