This is becoming a real problem for this Government when virtually what Ashley Bloomfield has said has again left this Government caught out again twisting the truth.
The Government says it’s not requisitioning stocks of rapid antigen tests (RATS) it’s only “consolidating” orders of tests heading into the country, but at least one distributor of the tests isn’t so sure, and has challenged the Ministry to prove its telling the truth.
In Science Director Anne- Louise Anderson who had hundreds of thousands of tests on order, said the Government had actually taken product that was already in New Zealand and challenged the Government to prove what it said was true.

Where is our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern in this the silence has been deafening and as Leader, CEO, and many other things would have known what was happening and has run for cover to make out she is not involved, has New Zealand turn another corner on its way to dictatorship , many would say it looks that way.

  So they have commandeered them with a plan to allocate them back to the exact businesses that had the foresight to order them? No, didn’t think so.
  Bet a large chunk of them will be channeled on racial lines, away from factories and businesses that planned to use them to stay afloat, to hysterics who don’t need them and could just stay home if sick.

    I think you are correct.
    The Labour Party and Bloomfield will be very anxious to ensure that certain “vulnerable communities” and voter bases will not be disadvantaged by the government not having testing handouts ready for them.
    I wonder if it ever occurred to any of the very wealthy race-based businesses to be proactive in ordering RATs for “their people”?
    No, probably not, best to wait for Aunty to provide even if she has to confiscate the goods from private business for redistribution.

    I don’t know why everyone is so down on the government. Ardern said things are different now we have new tools that we didn’t have in the beginning such as vaccines, masks and boosters. Oh that’s right none of them work and all the things that do are banned. Carry on guys.

      Yes Kowtow I noticed that Newshub and stuff have helped out with the governments dilemma of how Soundsplash had become a spreader event when everyone had to be vaccinated to attend or perform. Apparently a source that wished to remain anonymous said that her daughter had shared a vape with an unvaccinated person and that many unvaccinated people were seen climbing the perimeter fence whilst security guards didn’t ask for vaccine passports. Convenient but suspicious . Apart from the fact that the source may or may not exist one has to wonder if the daughter knew before or after sharing the vape that the person was unvaccinated and how did anyone know that the usual types bunking in were on this occasion unvaccinated, and why if security weren’t checking passports did they choose the fence rather than the main gate. Maybe they were both filthy unvaccinated anti vaxers and gate crashing tight arses and wouldn’t buy a ticket. After reading this clumsy drivel Im left with two conclusions. One that the present crop of “journalists” are so green and inexperienced that they can’t tell a story from a government plant or two they are just a mouth piece of the government. Either way they are letting down the country and quickly becoming a global laughing stock.

    Haha so they say inflation is at 4.9% ….pure smoke and mirrors. The minimum increase on my weekly expenditure is about 10%, and often closer to 30%. Yep RBNZ Governor Adrian Orr had better find his b@lls and be prepared to start yanking on that OCR lever pretty quick.

  If this was the US one or more of the clients who had their orders confiscated would take the MOH to the courts for a decision. We really need something like that here, but its unlikely. I strongly suspect the MOH has operated illegally and doesn’t have the powers to confiscate commercial orders.
  
  Does a pandemic really allow the MOH to do anything it wants? I suspect the govt has really overreached with a number of their new ‘laws’ as well. Perhaps the Opposition could take them to the supreme court?

    What will we hear next? That it is obscene for some families to have more than one car, while other families have none? You will have 7 days to choose which car you wish to be consolidated and reassigned for the more deserving. This is in no way a confiscation as you will still be the legal owner of the reassigned car and continue to be responsible for all registration, wofs, repairs, fines and insurance.

  Omicron is now old-school.
  We now have Omicron-2 in the country.
  That seems to be more infectious.
  
  Omicron 2 has 6 more mutations on the spike protein gene (on top of the 30 or so in Omicron 1), so the vaccine which was already not working on the Omicron-1 spike protein is almost certainly going to be even less effective on Omicron-2.
  
  As Omicron-2 takes over with all these S-gene changes, it would seem to make the boosters even more pointless.
  
  I wonder what this means for Pfizer who were cooking up a new batch for Omicron. Does this mean they need to chuck it out and start again?

      OPINION:
      
      It takes a special kind of gall, and/or arrogance, for a government to turn up last week having been literally invisible for a month during a pandemic and announce without even the slightest hint of embarrassment, that one, you haven’t been off skiving, and two, you actually have a Covid plan for the year. When, as it inevitably turns out, no such plan exists.
      
      Having spent the summer following the news, the Government made three appearances. One, Chris Hipkins from his mum’s place on the possibilities around Omicron escaping into the community.
      
      Two and three to Stuart Nash. Firstly on the report suggesting ice cream could be a big export earner, and secondly admitting that he failed to fully grasp the issues around foreigners buying up productive farmland and converting it into forest parks for carbon credits.
      
      Clarke Gayford was as active as anyone in the Government with his endlessly helpful advice to the nation’s pharmaceutical community, but I don’t think that’s supposed to count.
      
      The Prime Minister was nowhere to be seen.
      
      When our PM did reappear, it was to remind us that forward planning is not their strong suit as they invented yet another layer of ideas, rules and advice that very few will understand, far less follow.

And Kerre Woodham gave the Government an absolute serve in the first ten minutes of her programme this morning.   * Gangs can steal them and then sell them in pub parking lots.

      Yes it is correct. Stockpiled PPE was thrown away as some elements of it are perishable (latex straps?) and DHB’s and MoH hadn’t managed inventory correctly via stock rotation and monitoring i.e. incompetence..

  As much as I like to put the boot in, I think there is some valid reasoning behind “consolidation” of a rare commodity in exceptional circumstances.
  
  If they are for sale, then many people will go out and buy 10 for their family – immediately reducing the stocks to zero.
  
  We should all be able to have 10, 20 or 500 if we want to. We could have if these fuckwits hadn’t banned them.
  
  That is really the issue here – they’re using one totalitarian policy to try to correct the damage created by a previous totalitarian policy.
  
  This exactly mirrors the way the USSR handled food supplies: first they fuck it up, then they “consolidate” everything to try to fix the mess.
  
  We should look at how we got into this mess – not so much the poor handling of trying to get out.
  
  Never forget they’re commies! Giving power to commies has bad outcomes. Always.

    From a suppliers perspective, government orders carry more clout than individual private sector orders. For instance the quantities are larger, and there is more fat in the list price. So it comes down to priorities. Private sector orders will experience a slight delay in shipping.

  My neighbour had heart surgery last week. Fully vaxxed but took two years of deferrals because “covid”. Looking increasingly unlikely that he will come off life support. And if he does, the surgery is still not done.
  
  Maybe they should focus on the important things like doing surgery when it’s needed, like before his heart was ruined beyond repair. So glad me and my family are healthy, it’s a very dark time to be sick.

    With that sort of comorbidity sounds like he would have been unlikely to get through a full covid wave of the earlier versions, ie with no border closures, lockdowns, masks, etc. But people with comorbidities are expendable as long as you get to be an adult and decide how to look after yourself and only yourself, right? That’s freedom, right? So why all the concern about a comorbidity case if the cause of death is not covid?

      Read her piece again – carefully.
      
      The neighbour was subjected to 2 years of deferrals.
      
      Had the neighbour’s heart issue been attended to 2 years ago, then a more successful outcome may have resulted.
      
      It is not as if our Health system has been overwhelmed with covid cases in the last 2 years.

        It would only be a comorbidity if he had contracted covid-19 (or another illness).
        
        For the last 2 years there have bugger-all covid cases in the South Island requiring hospital care… and thus no reason to defer this chap’s surgery.

      actually Fight – he was a healthy 50 year old other than needing a mitral valve replacement. He was working as a house painter and decorator until two years ago – a reasonably physical job most would agree. He was a good weight.   I personally knew about the 9 Omicron infections in Nelson around 2:30pm last Friday. The govt and media didn’t announce the infection was Omicron until Sunday (prior to that it was unknown). I believe we are seeing the same thing with this festival. The govt knew about the spread some time ago and has sat on the news while they hastily announced all their new rules and systems.

      That we only know on Wednesday night (in a leak) suggests they hid this knowing it would be a bad look coupled with the woke Waitangi celebration a day before the imposed senseless (based off how omnishambles spreads) rules.

I can confirm that e.g. the lab rests for Taneatua cam [came] through yesterday morning but waited till next 1 pm announcement I.e. today. Sometimes we are told about late breaking news to be confirmed in announced numbers the next day.

  This was always the danger with no long term safety data and small safety studies that were quickly ended without good data collection (or any follow up). You don’t spot 1 in 1000 problems in an age group or sex when you only have a few hundred test subjects, and noise can easily swamp signal until you get to large numbers.

    Those figures are bad. The ratification of the data through the court cases that were mentioned will be interesting to say the least.
    However a couple of problems with your comment
    – the alleged issues are arising at the time of vaccination ie in 2021, so not sure what the relevance of long-term safety data is.
    – Full Phase 3 studies were completed, not ended before time.
    – there were around 22,000 test subjects, not a few hundred.
    More generally the problem here is the track record in antivaxxer circles of promoting patently incorrect information is that this creates an abundance of doubt over this or any other claims before you even start. I mean look at this guy’s track record

      My point was that outcomes are clearly differentiated depending upon age and sex – eg young men and boys have far higher risk of myocarditis than for women or older men. And fertility issues are confined to young women etc. The numbers in those distinct groups within the study amount to a few hundreds to thousand which the trials wouldn’t reveal.
      
      Here is an extensive critique of the Pfizer trials by a large group of Canadian doctors:

      On page 9 it shoes the trial was ended early, with the control group being given vaccines, destroying much of their ability to spot long term safety issues, but even in this shortened trial 1 in 200 had serious side effects and 1 in 2000 were hospitalised (also read what happened to Maddie de Garay, a teen permanently disabled by vax, but excluded from reporting). Page 12 shows 40% more cardiovascular deaths in vax group (1 in 1000 vs 1 in 1400 for non vaxxed).
      Perhaps worst of all they didn’t test blood of participants for biomarkers indicating damage – which would have alerted us to hidden impacts now becoming more apparent.
      
      Cancers are intricately linked to immune system behaviour, I am surprised they have shown up so soon when it’s the sort of thing as a layman I might have thought would only show up years later (if at all) but perhaps impact of covid and vaccines on cancer fighting mechanisms in our body is serious.

      I could be wrong but it seems like you have the wrong meaning of temporal in this context. To be clear it means the adverse events are happening within a short time of the vaccination. All components of a vaccine are metabolised and expelled from the body within 2 – 3 weeks or less depending on the individual.
      This is a fundamental and obvious fact about vaccines as a one off event. Incidentally this the reason the article above trying to argue the pfizer trials were ended early simply has no basis.

    Well there is in fact. The health service has already shed doctors and nurses who are unvaxed. Now think about where Covid patients go, that’s right to hospital and each admission is probably seen by 3 doctors and 6 nurses over a 24 hour period. One infection of a nurse = 24 days isolation. My Mrs has already been warned she might be doing extra shifts to cover when doctors and nurses go sign to isolation. It’s not. Going to be the effect of more patients but the effect of losing medical staff to isolation that will cripple the health service. They aren’t exactly overstaffed now!

As much as I hate Labour, pretending that widespread Omicron infections will turn the situation to custard here, and thus be bad politically for Labour, is not going to happen.     Word on the street is that they may well have known that early, but certainly by Tuesday. The “official” line is that they were notified of these cases yesterday afternoon.
    
    And with a “no surprises” policy operating in the Prime Minister’s office, you can bet that she was informed immediately by the MoH. There seems however to have been a deliberate decision to keep this out of the media, despite numerous rumours circulating yesterday, which have proved to be well founded.

School kids will be our saviour . ( and supermarkets , a lot of people won’t know they hv it , or choose not to isolate n go anyway , let’s be real )
What better way to spread the virus ? Travellers will seed regions and the kids in their classes with parents from all walks of life , who would never normally interact , will spread it in regional communities.
We need to spread it now , not slow it up and limp along til winter for an unprepared govt .

The oldies and vulnerable hv boosted already ( jam packed with oldies when I got my second in early jan ) they maintain social distance etc and avoid gatherings .
It’s summer
We are as ready as we can be .
The govt will backtrack on its isolation rules once its unsustainable n too many workers out of action , and the death stats don’t stack up .
The only thing holding us back from dealing with this is the govt .
Looks like they will delay as much as possible for booster numbers from kids n younger folk who don’t need them , effectiveness aside .
So the only way out to get this over with in a timely fashion is school kids , the best vectors around .

So what’s next? No access to the courts? Medical treatment already dubious, I’m certainly not having a smear in the garage at my doctors. Education disappearing for kids (no sport). For a vaccine that has high risks and low benefits for anyone under 50 without comorbidities.

  There is now absolutely no evidence that vaccination, even boosting, reduces the transmission of Omicron.
  Therefore an unvaccinated person is not any more risk to others than a vaccinated person.

If the Government thought Covid 19 was contained as only Delta or for some other reason as it sat on the RATS testing, the public might accept that. But taking the tests kits from Companies who ran with the best risk-reduced policy they could to keep both freight and supplies available to the public (essentially a job expected of the Government) is shocking, they should back off today.
I have missed a lot of news because of work but another thing that strikes me is, as I am told John Tamihere has said, some people will simply sit out an Omicron infection rather than go to the authorities and effectively put their entire family in isolation. I am not saying every family will do that but there is a risk at the very least, and I do not forget the “funding” required to get information and vaccination to certain groups. Can’t have it both ways.
As I said, in other words, a couple of weeks ago, bringing cases of Omicron into the country was dicing with death. Living politics from poll to poll is the same.

  Most of us can think of little worse than having our few remaining liberties taken away for 24 days.
  
  As a result, few people will dob themselves in and risk a test unless someone is really sick.
  
  They say there are 90 Omicron cases. Bollocks. There are 90 confirmed infections. Since most people are asymptomatic or get a wee sniffle, probably only 10-20% of infected people will actually be presenting themselves for testing.
  
  So as a result, I doubt there are less than 1000 infected people in the community – the vast majority of whom are not isolating themselves for 24 days.
  
  This 24-day punishment will certainly cause people to get tested less and cause more infection.
  
  But it is also a clever way to reduce the demand for testing. If everyone with a hint of a sniffle was getting tested the system would be massively overloaded.

These are of course predictions and should be viewed as such, however they have been given credence by NZ’s leading experts including University of Otago’s professors Nick Wilson and Michael Baker.

Credence – belief in or acceptance of something as true.

Or we could be realistic and say that based on Australian outcomes we could peak at around 30,000 daily cases.

I note that as a contractor I will not be able to work at my primary schools unless I have the 3rd jab within 182 days of my 2nd one. This came as a surprise to me when I read the Ministry of Education directives yesterday. As someone who felt he’d done his bit by getting the requisite two vaccinations and was not planning on being boosted suddenly I’m in a quandary.

  Yeah my partner works in health care, and has been told the same. She had some pretty bad reactions to the second dose and wont be getting another one (her GP already advised her not to), so probably out of a job soonish.

    Omicron is now “going” and is by far the predominant variant.
    
    They’ve confirmed 90 Omicron infections. Today there were 45 new confirmed infections: 30 Omicron and, presumably 15 Delta or unclassified.
    
    So Omicron is already 2/3 of new cases that are reported.
    
    Now since Omicron is milder and there are very good reasons why people will avoid testing, we can assume that the number of Omicron infections is well into the hundreds – likely well over a thousand.
    
    It is no longer “if Omicron …”
    It is no longer “when Omicron …”
    It is now

But need to keep working, so will have to boost with a medicine that as best I can tell will neither protect me (I have zero risk factors) nor my customers (I can still get the bug and pass it on). I’m not very happy about it. In the meantime, I understand Pfizer is releasing an Omnicron-specific vaccine in March. But nothing from our government on the topic..   Perhaps the answer to your question is that Ardern makes it up as she goes along and she is quite practised at this sort of obfuscation. I have watched her speaking in Parliament over a period of many years. She has lots of words which are quite ’empty’, and have little or no factual underpinings and shows a shallowness of education and thinking ability.   My 74 yr old dad had a fall (in Brisbane) so was taken to hospital for a check up. He was covid tested and tested positive. He had no symptoms. He is in the highest risk category – badly managed diabetes, overweight, heart condition.
  My SIL in Melbourne also has it. She had the booster a few weeks ago. She is sick as a dog. Aged 45 and really fit and healthy.
  
  Not a representative sample but some food for thought given we don’t get much demographic info about covid patients in NZ.

Don’t know how many have been recovered.
This was 11 more than in the previous week.
It is said to be the highest total in a least 3 years.

This traffic light system is so illogical and unworkable to everyone that it wont surprise me if the Govt ditches it and replaces it with another illogical and unworkable one.

The Govt stealing RAT supplies off businesses, extending isolation times thus affecting peoples employment, and now telling us cotton face masks will be banned makes you wonder if they are trying to eliminate our freedoms rather than covid!

I wouldn’t put it pass this govt implementing public curfews 7 pm -7 am on all Nzers meaning the death of many small businesses.

All done in the name of health and safety right?

    Tell you what – I paid $60 for 6 multi-layer cloth masks which are washable and therefore re-usable, and I’m not going to start buying paper masks at $5 a pop.
    If the government will keep me supplied with Paper masks, I’ll use them.

AP Moller Maersk, the world’s largest container shipping company, has ordered 8 container vessels that operate on carbon-neutral e-menthanol fuel.
Each has a capacity of up to 16,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) and will cost the Danish giant E5.95 billion.
As at Dec 2019 they operated 708 vessels with total capacity of 4.1m TEU. That being 307 Container vessels of their own and 401 chartered container vessels.
The eight vessels will allow Maersk to cut it’s CO2 emissions by up to 1 million tonnes annually.
The new ships will be powered by a dual fuel system, enabling them to run on e-methanol as well as on the existing standard ‘very low sulphur fuel oil’ (VLSFO).
However, e-menthanol production is very low and very expensive.

So how will they be powered most of the time.

  Chemically speaking, e-methanol is no different to “dirty” methanol so likely the “supply” will end up being many times what is actually made.
  
  A bit like kudu biltong. The amount of kudu biltong on the market would require around 10x the world’s supply of kudu. But at least that can be tested and dna testing explains what happens to missing zebra carcasses etc.

  A very good question, since the methanol bunkering infrastructure doesn’t exist yet. There’re about 20 vessels burning methanol at present. Mostly methanol tankers using their cargo as fuel. No doubt, the required infrastructure can be created in time but it’s going to be quite costly. Is the proposed transition going to be economical? At present the PRODUCTION costs of methanol range from USD150-250 per mt (fossil) to USD1500-2500 per mt (synthetic). For comparison, the price of VLSFO at Singapore (DELIVERED) is currently about USD678 per mt. So, the price of the currently used fuel is at least 55% lower than the cost of production of potential e-fuel (methanol) in the best case scenario and at least 73% lower in the worst case scenario.
  
  Personally, I would not sail on these vessels. Not so much because of the methanol as a fuel (although I don’t like it) but because of their design – a nightmare in just about every respect.

    The Maori name will be used by very few people. It will simply be called “the stadium”.
    
    Just like Tūranga is called “the Library” and “Parakiore”, when it opens will be called the “Metro Sports Facility” and “Te Pae” will be called “the Convention Centre”.

‘They’ have ordered 5000 portable air cleaners for schools. 500 to come in March and the balance in June.
I wonder why ‘they’ didn’t just install heatpumps, aka air filters and do it now. With the benefit of longer term class climate benefits for those classrooms with no heatpumps.
Great contract for the someone supplying these aircleaners. Made in China no doubt.

  Is that the same with “5000 portable air cleaners for schools”, so a choice is made between artificial air cleaning or fuller “natural” ventilation, or do air cleaners rather than “clean” a classroom, actually clean the Universe, like outside open door or windows?

Working names often are, and that’s why the working name seems to have been mainly known by its acronym.

The “tongue twister” is replaced by “Te Kaha,” short for Te Kaharoa. For the country’s main city with the least proportion of Maori, Stuff spells out in readers’ language the meaning of the word.

And that’s just the name of the ground under the stadium, so citizens don’t need to take too much notice.

My trust in the medical profession is at an all time low. Why are more of these so called ‘professionals’ who apparently signed up to the hypocratic oath of ‘First Do NO Harm’ not saying ENOUGH of this BS!!! I have spent nearly 4 hours watching the “COVID-19: A SECOND OPINION” ROUNDTABLE IN D.C. instigated by Sen Ron Johnson (R) (Sen. Ron Johnson moderates a panel discussion with world-renowned doctors and medical experts, providing different perspectives on the global pandemic response, the current state of knowledge of early and hospital treatment, vaccine efficacy and safety, what went right, what went wrong, what should be done now, and what needs to be addressed long term.). I have approx an hour to go. I am appalled, shocked and disgusted with government, MoH, media and the bloody medical fraternity themselves. It’s a long slog, but if you have nothing to do, sit down and watch it in chunks.
At the 15m mark (ish) Dr Ryan Cole on his experiences. At the 30m mark is Dr Pierre Kory on ivermectin as a successful early treatment of Covid. At 54m mark Dr Mary Bowden. At 2h55m Dr McCullough on approvals and how the vaccine programme should have been shut down in Feb 21 due adverse affects. At 3h10m – NO FOR CHILDREN! At 3h16m Sen Johnson on a story out of Vietnam of a 9th grader dying after 2nd jab.
Honestly, there are so many interesting facts and stories of what all these Doctor’s and professionals have and are seeing. It is eye opening and makes me feel quite sick that Cindy et al continue with this programme, especially now forcing it on 5-11yr olds. Where are our true leaders?

  4h25m – Dr McCullough, confirmed vax causes myocarditis. No such thing as ‘mild’ myocarditis.
  4h29m30s – Lawyer for Whistleblowers out of USDoD, miscarriages up by 300%, cancers up by 300%, neurological issues with pilots up 1000%. The official stats have been fiddled with, Sen Johnson put DoD on notice that he will be pursuing this.

  And the most frustrating point for all these Dr’s etc at the Hearing run by Sen Ron Johnson.. they are hangstrung. They cannot administer appropriate treatments to their patients as they are ‘not allowed to’. Hence why they are seeing so many Covid deaths. It is looking like total corruption. The Woke revised-history instruction for schools has been delayed by a year, Stuff reports.

Ardern said in September 2019 that all schools and kura would be expected to start teaching what Stuff merely calls “the country’s history” to year 0 to 10 [sic] students by 2022.

The revised course will now be delayed until 2023.
It would be a reasonable bet that, if there is further controversy about the revised history course, it would be delayed until after the next general election, which mst be held by 13 January 2024,

There have been 4000 submissions on the history revision.

Interesting that Stuff merely calls it ” Aotearoa’s history” rather than a revised version of NZ’s history, and that Stuff includes comment from Ngai Tahu leader Tipene O’Regan on the revised history programme.

  There is already some unhelpful teaching of NZ history in schools. I have seen some of the content from intermediate and high school. I even contacted my son’s high school and let them know that a supposed war crime they added to multi-choice quiz for ‘Aotearoa studies’ had no historic or factual basis.
  This was the oft-repeated burning of churches with women and children inside, at a location I know well.
  The missing (Catholic) church is actually in standing photos and paintings from the 1860s, and known to have been dismantled in 1931.
  Nothing like an imagined war crime to hang around the colonist neck.
  It is a myth that is repeated so often, it will never go away. Nevermind that an Anglican bishop travelled with the troops, and demonic crimes like women and children burnt to death inside a church is hysterical – given it was an equally sacred site to Europeans – such an event is lifted from WW2 holocaust narratives.
  While there was a sleeping whare which is well recorded as having burned down (accidentally or not) nearby with Maori inside, this was a violently defended whare from where several soldiers (including a colonel) where killed or mortally wounded by shooters within.
  So the facts are a lot more ‘grey’ than black and white myth making. The fact is: a church with innocents inside was never burnt down.
  
  Anyway…the school responded, and admitted they did not know the facts, and created the question from a statement about an atrocity they read in the MSM.
  They could see they got that wrong – but I never even bothered with all the other dubious questions about colonist motivations or such in the same quiz.
  Just that what they present to the kids is a very skewed and distorted view of what really is a fascinating and violent history.
  There are real atrocities in the NZ land wars, and no small amount were commited by Maori on both sides, but now there is a selective and even fantastic retelling in 2022 of the conflict.
  I have a deep and long standing interest in the period, but The Good guys and Bad guys theme is laid on so thick, I think we are better off if they didn’t teach it at all.

  Most masks are next to useless at blocking corona viruses, even the N95 ones. Note how your glasses steam up if you wear them. That is caused by the air you breath out escaping around the edges of the mask. Various experts have also pointed out that you can become infected from virus particles settling on your eyes. You don’t see lab workers at places working with such viruses wearing masks, they wear full body suits with air supply. The masks are just theatre.

    I don’t think your numbers are correct! Normal End Tidal CO2 is 5 – 6%. Masks add very little dead space (I’d guess less than 10ml) to the existing 150ml (average adult) dead space. Physiologically all one would see is a minute increase in respiration and not a higher ETCO2.

The live event industry is petitioning for the government to save their industry through handouts.

The writer of the article suggests a slightly novel approach: people should not ask for refunds then the promoters will still get the money.

That’s an interesting idea, but it is really not much different to the government forcing tax payers to pay the promoters through the asked-for hand outs. People would be handing over money with no service rendered (basically infinite inflation).

My idea is, I think, vastly superior. Government: stay out of it. Don’t ban the concerts. If people want to go then let them go. They’ve been told what the risks are (and that with huge overstatement). They’re all going to get Omicron soon anyway, so why not let them go to their concerts and allow the promoters to run a business they way they want to?

At least that way the concert people would have the dignity of earning their money. There is no dignity in a hand out.

My treat, if I had not thrown a wobbler after a day’s shopping, was to stop at one of the thousands of Indian shops in Pietermaritzburg and getting either a freshly made Gulab Jamun in ginger syrup (none of that tinned stuff thanks) or, better yet, a Jalebi spiral.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed the big change in public opinion lately. Up until recently loathing of this govt and Jacinda was discussed amongst friends and the like minded, quietly and privately. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed people openly and loudly stating their disdain anywhere, in cafes, in shops, meeting people in the street regardless of what the person they are talking to might think. I think the public have got braver and couldn’t give a stuff what the vile lefties think anymore. I am feeling hopeful. I still think the poll out tonight will favour Labour because it was taken before this latest debacle. I hope I’m wrong. The Curia poll didn’t give me any hope.

Because of lesser Maori life expectancy, Taonui believed a certain band of Maori under 65s should have been included with non-Maori 65s .

That would not seem to actually define the band of under 65 years old Maori that Taonui thinks should have been included with non-Maori over 65s.

3 – A Covid-19 Māori health analyst says more than 106,000 vaccinated Māori are not eligible for a booster shot until after March 1 – too late to protect against the expected Omicron surge.
That does not define the group discussed either, although they may be among that 106,000.

4 – Why raise this now, not back when a date for 65 was announced, let alone implemented?
What were the Maori Caucus under Willie Jackson doing?

5 – and a minor aside: what of people who identify as Maori, but physiologically are not such as may have lessened life expectancy – where do they fit in?

I arrived in NZ from the UK by yacht in 1999 and was surprised how NZ was cheaper than the uk. My family asked me to keep an eye on prices to compare. Petrol was one item and I would like to share. When I arrived sep 1999 petrol was $ 0.97 a litre, when labour left office 9 years later it was $2.09. Another 9 years on and petrol was$1.94 a litre. That was 2017. Today in early 2022 the price is $2.77 with another Labour government. Now fuel prices affect just about all cost of goods so is anyone surprised at inflation ?

Two dickhead yoofs steal a car and take the cops on a merry ride from through Auckland (would it be racist to say Orata?) and then down to Hamilton.

In that 2 hours the cops let them drive around 100km, including on the motorway, endangering others while tracking them with vehicles and a helicopter.

Putting other road users at risk like this is unacceptable. Cops: you should get these little criminals off the road! If they get hurt in the process, well perhaps that might help them learn something.

Instead the little scrotes have been referred to youth aid. Bugger all real consequences. Instead, lots of excitement and entertainment for them and heaps to brag about to their loser mates.

If you want to stop bad behaviour then you need to make it unpleasant for the people to continue with the bad behaviour – not reward it.

So how on earth does the likes of the NZ MSM become informed by “Wikipedia editors” that Harete Hipango’s wiki page had been edited by her own staffers?

I sniff a Labour/Leftie Rat in that some of the Wiki editors are Left Wing Activists tipping off the MSM!

So inflation is at its highest since the late 1980’s and the Govt is being criticised for confiscating privately owned R.A.T. tests … so a Labour inspired diversion is hatched involving the National MP?!!

Also interesting that Harete Hipango’s Wiki page now has a “Controversies” section …. but as we would expect go to Jacinda’s Wiki page and NO “Controversies” section (despite years of lies and double speak and sweeping dodgy events under the carpet)!

Good news for some of us. Despite inflation at nearly 6% the falling dollar means my UK pension# ar3 just about keeping up. Shame about others.

  Depends on your reference point.
  Prior to Brexit the dollar was worth about 40p. Now it’s about 49p. At one stage it shot up to around 60p.

  The trouble is once we have a wave of covid, the virus will lurk about…and based on what happens in other countries, there seem to be waves of infection every 4-5 months.

The Labour lead government policy outcomes:
*Drives costs up with pay rises with no improvement in production
* Increase government spending by 68%
*Loads requirements onto landlords and businesses which drives costs up or landlords to sell their holdings reducing availability and increasing rentals costs
*Refuses to allow RSE workers into the country for 2 years allowing fruit and vegetables to rot and reducing the plantings of growers
*Talks a hard line on farmers
*Spends borrowed money like a drunken sailor on identity politics projects with little or no return
*Fiddles with the property market driving housing costs up and forcing young people into rental accomodation where the costs have gone up
*Increases the cost of imported fuels
*Interferes with the independence of the RBNZ and cause the OCR to go up
*Happy to live with no tourism for at least two years with no hope for tourism operators and losing $28 Billion in the process
*Drives peoples investments into the floor with uncertainty and inflation
*Fails to address tax bracket creep and fuel tax creep taking more money out of peoples incomes
*creates huge uncertainty in the business community with their industrial relations and co-governance agreements
*Focuses on climate change when this country is in the deepest crap it’s been in since WW2 and living on borrowed money
*Get warned by their officials that all of these ideological policies will have these consequences.
*Imcrease costs for low income workers by driving housing costs, food costs and transport up

But the PM utterly refutes the premise that rising inflation is caused by her government and its policies. But I guess she would, Labour have been having the same policy outcomes every time they get in to the detriment of the low income worker so it’s operations normal for labour.

  Have posted to GD today (28/1) but putting it here too in case it’s easier.
  
  The Covid 19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 comes into effect on April 1st.
  
  This legislation will allow for:
  
  1. The lockdown of unvaccinated or insufficiently vaccinated individuals.
  2. The ability to restrict travel within the country to unvaccinated or insufficiently vaccinated (e.g. a person who does not want to get a booster shot).
  3. Withhold certification from those who do not get required boosters or subsequent combinations of vaccines as may be ordered at any time.
  4. The ability to dictate the type and form of certification required for proof of vaccination status — digital or otherwise.
  5. The ability to dictate what other information may be required for the renewal of vaccine certificates, and which information may be contained on such a certificate.
  6. The period for which a vaccine certificate is valid can be changed at any time, and who it is that may be entitled or eligible to have these certificates.
  7. The specification of mandates for entire job sectors.
  8. The ordering of certain jobs to require regular mandatory testing and medical examination.
  9. Enforcement officers to be able to demand certification, pretty much at any time.
  10. The appointment of enforcement officers that can be anybody they wish to appoint, and not necessarily police.
  11. Enforcement officers to inspect and take copies of certification to be verified at a later date, before immediately returning such documentation.
  12. The provision of an assessment tool for employers to use to determine who should be vaccine mandated, however employers can totally disregard the assessment tool and mandate at whim.
  13. Legal or other representatives of employees may be refused entry to workplaces.
  14. Contact tracing information may be used against a person in order to enforce the Act.
  15. Employees who have been dismissed for non-compliance of testing or vaccination, but comply at the last minute, may still be dismissed if the employer deems revoking the dismissal to be disruptive of their business.
