        Airforce F18 & F35’s are one thing but if you have seen the F35 at a US air-show you’ll note it is a dog compared to the F22 and even the older F16. A real boondoggle to the defence community though.
        At US$100million+ per plane you better hope you’re not going to lose too many or have them fall off aircraft carriers.

        The F-35 is not designed to be better than either the 22 or the 16.
        
        The 22 is a twin engine air dominance stealth fighter.
        
        The 16 is a lightweight dog fighter and occasional interceptor.
        
        The 18 is a twin engine longer range multi-role fighter. Not stealth.
        
        The 35 is a single engine multi-role stealth fighter with interdiction and ground attack capabilities.
        
        You are comparing apples with cheese in order to presumably make some point about the weaknesses of the US military.
        
        Yes the 35 has had issues, partly due to its high profile and cutting edge technologies which have proved hard to nail down. But it should not be underestimated or written off, it can see and kill from a distance and has picked off 22s during war games.

        No Rusty, they were Skyhawks – and an extremely capable strike aircraft it was. Furthermore, our pilots were considered among the best in the world – so when the Skyhawks were mothballed, the UK, Oz and US air forces welcomed our pilots with open arms.

      Australia has more Defence Acquisitions out for tender or in the process of being built than you can poke a stick at.
      They see their country as worth protecting from enemies current/future or imagined. Australians may disagree as to how/what Military Hardware is worth purchasing/building but at least their Govt and Opposition (with the exception of the Greens) are united the need.
      We on the other hand, we are blinkered/blind as to the requirement for Defence and couldn’t identify an enemy even when one of their Tanks poked its barrel through our front door.
      Wake up NZ, forget our internal squabbles, and concentrate on protecting and maintaining our country and lifestyle(s) at all costs.
      Yes, we are a small and insignificant country at the bottom of the world but we do have stuff other countries don’t and want.
      That said, we also lack stuff other countries have and we need (oil & gas) and we can only get that through cooperation, commitment, and dependability (Treaty(s)).

I may be over-egging the omelette but over the last week there have been questions about our lack of sanctions against Russia. They invariably raised questions about the “Government’s” lack of action with war photos.

Now at last there have been a few tentative moves it is “Jacinda Ardern” takes action on sanctions with pics of her looking serious and thoughtful. Subtle? If you challenged you would be pinpricking. But it is a matter of constant reinforcement and relentless craftiness. They have done it before because they know it works.

        She was 26 when she entered Parliament in 1996. She had an MA (Hons) from Auckland, having studied social anthropology and Maori business development, then worked as a researcher/ archivist at the same University.
        
        Her next activity seems to have been in 2004, opposing the initial readings of the Foreshore and Seabed legislation, before supporting it in the third reading. From 2005 – 2008 she was a Cabinet minister (Customs, Youth Development, Local Government and associate Environment), and she held Local Government and Maori Development in the first term of the current Labour government, before being appointed to Foreign Minister in 2020.
        
        I really don’t see what accomplishments or experience she has that prepare her for her current role.
        
        Perhaps there was just no-one else more qualified?

  High risk for a private landlord, due in large part to this government’s policies but also apparently her own choices.

  Over the last two days, I’ve witnessed a Maori woman walking up and down the median strip on Glenfield Road (Akld) begging for money from vehicles stopped at the Traffic Lights.
  There’s a Police Station approx 250 meters away and no action has been taken to prevent this practice AFIK.
  Such people receive taxpayer money due to the situation they apparently find themselves in.
  Why is this practice of begging allowed to continue, especially when we are screaming out for tourists?
  It’s not a good look!

        I often see the same beggars in Mangere Bridge & Onehunga. I’ve seen people thinly disguised as buskers down there too, plus one guy who’s very good on the guitar although I noticed once when he stopped to answer the phone the music carried on.

      Rather than a snide comment, think about it.
      I have seen all sorts of beggars in several different overseas countries. I actually give money to beggars overseas. People without faces, or limbs, or black faced and filthy with dust from the gutter. Seeing families actually living under bridges breaks my heart, when they can’t even access safe drinking water. NZ has no comparison to the poverty of overseas. Here they are obese and drunk POS far too often.
      
      Visible begging is a more recent phenomenon in NZ, and getting more and more common as we accept it. We should be ashamed, and we shouldn’t accept it.
      We are the WELFARE STATE and everyone gets an income of some sort. Round them up, wrap support around any with genuine need – but in all instances trespass or move them on. Into facilities if need be. Rough sleeping in the CBD is not permissible.
      
      Begging in general needs to be dealt with, but even more so, begging in actual traffic is different to begging on the side of the road.
      I haven’t seen beggars roaming in traffic overseas, but in NZ, I have.
      If you can’t sell coffee or conduct business in the actual roadway then you shouldn’t be able to ask for money either.
      For obvious reasons.
      
      Along with the states’s social services, Police need to start doing their friggin jobs, as NZ seems to be coming apart at both ends between the lazy and the entitled and the actual dangerous and crazy.
      
      The government squanders hundreds of millions on trying to create ‘equity’. How about some infrastructure to support the most desperate?
      Pamphlets and elevator buttons Te Reo and nose-flutes added to Covid 19 ads are not the answer.

In 2010, I was in Krakow, during the worst floods for 100 years.

I was in the last tour group that went to see Auschwitz Birkenau for a while. They were moving exhibits to safety, because the river Vistula had broken its banks.

Birkenau felt like death. It was wind swept and five degrees Celsius in Autumn. It was without question the most disturbing experience of my life.

I cannot put into words the feelings that I got from Birkenau. I suppose I’ve tried to process the experience ever since.

It is easy to completely blame the Nazi leaders. Most were evil – there is no doubt about it. However, that explanation is too cartoonish, and too simple. The past two years have made me reappraise my views.

What I have realised is that if the State requires people to do something immoral, people typically believe that this somehow absolves themselves of responsibility for acting in an immoral manner.

Here, the State said that unvaccinated people were limited with regards to church services. This is clearly contrary to Christian practice. Jesus hugged the lepers. Yet the church leaders generally followed the rules. Why didn’t the church hierarchy simply ignore these rules? I’m still shocked by the compliance.

The State stopped people visiting dying parents. The nurses accepted this, even though in normal circumstances, this would be an unspeakable practice. Why didn’t the hospital hierarchy simply ignore these rules? Again, I’m still shocked by the compliance.

The State stopped funerals. Again, the population meekly accepted everything. Why didn’t the funeral directors simply ignore these rules? I still can’t understand the compliance.

People collaborated with the most outrageous crimes against humanity imaginable, with barely a whimper, because of the threat of a bad flu hanging over their heads. However, they had an excuse for their behaviour – it was mandated by the government.

In all these Covid cases, people in normal circumstances would be ashamed of their behaviour. However, in this case, they would say that they had no choice but to follow orders. The government was supposedly acting for the greater good. In this case, normal moral conventions no longer applied, it is argued. Also, they might be afraid of the punishment for breaking the rules.

Of course, all these excuses were used by the German people, to deflect from their guilt in collaborating with the Nazis. Without the collaboration of the people, the holocaust could never have happened.

There are maximum about ten percent of people that have a higher risk tolerance than is normal, and are also more of individualist thinkers than most. This people aren’t more
selfish – in this case, it means the opposite. Maybe some people working at a hospital saw some people wanting to visit a dying relative, and simply allowed it. Maybe some broke the rules, given that the rules were immoral? I hope so, but maybe not many.

I think that New Zealand’s people outsourced their morality to Cindy. I think that Cindy is evil, and I’d like to completely blame her, but in good conscience, I can’t do this (at least not exclusively).

The reason is that the blame lies with the people, or about 90% of us, if the polls are be to believed (and the polls seem accurate).

Most of us (statistically at least) collaborated with unspeakable crimes against humanity. The reasons we did so are human – all too human.

Mulling over our conduct over the past two years is uncomfortable.

If the similar circumstances repeat themselves – will everyone act the same way again?

I think that although the majority of people didn’t support the protests, many people are beginning to realise that they were scammed by the media and government over Covid. The overstated risks led to a hysterical response. They will be quietly embarrassed by their conduct over the past two years.

Personally, this will be my last post on Covid. It is time to move on.

    I have hope that people are slowly but surely starting to see what has happened as abuse rather than being stuck in “fear” and parroting “oh but we have saved thousands of lives”.

  On that point, over the last few days I had been thinking how the likes of Marae’s and DOC camping grounds don’t want to take in that last group of protesters in Wellington.
  
  I’m guessing that these last group of protesters may include within them, anti-mandaters, anti-vaxxers and Green/leftie/hippie/unemployed types (but not the violent extremists that turned up to cause trouble at the protest).
  
  But over the last few days I have been amazed to see these people are being treated like lepers.
  
  (What’s wrong with this picture? Even the Mongrel Mob and crims get a Govt funded, warm place to stay at)!
  
  Citizens (Marae’s and DOC) are treating these people like lepers … because the State (Labour) have claimed that these are bad people (“ferals” – Mallard, “rivers of filth” – Michael Wood, “imported, violent, far-right etc” – Ardern).

  Only a couple of months before Covid SHTF I visited Cambodia. Like you, it was the most disturbing experience in my life, visiting S-21 in PP, and the SR War Museum. Perhaps because of the closeness of time between the two (Cambodia and covid) I have been acutely aware of our government and media working hand in hand, and some people’s unquestioning obedience. It’s been a difficult two years for me, trying to understand why people are so happy to not question and simply obey, and worst of all dob others in.

It reaches down to the personal level too; relatives and friends who sever ties with you because you challenge the Official Narrative as promoted by Ardern.         The letters sent by the University’s lawyers were it seems from the media councils determination standard letters sent when responding to personal information requests made of the University.
        So by following privacy law requirements the University is said to be threatening the recipients of those letters.

    Unlike our prime minister, I do not believe she is intentionally evil, on the contrary, at a personal level I bet she comes across as a reasonable and nice person.
    
    But it is cowardly nice people like this who let their fear take control. This is clearly evident in that clip.
    
    It is pretty clear to me now, reading her publication list (and where the hell is her PhD and what is its title?!) that she is not as qualified as she should be – and has clearly, maybe not entirely her fault, had too much influence over public opinion around COVID.
    
    I suspect similar can be said about all of our other MSM “experts”. The only way to argue with these ‘good’ people is not through logic, science or data, or even history lessons; but through better emotional stories, of the damage caused, and justified, on their watch and on the population at large.
    
    They are controlled by their weakness of mind and the lucky free and easy western lives they have lived. Combined with their lack of risk taking and safety’ism that has overtaken our culture.
    
    Many of them do not understand the suffering that many of us have had to deal with daily. For myself, this started well before COVID. For them COVID is the worse thing that has ever happened to them…aside from that time they scratched their BMW…

  (a) Dr Wiles does what’s right, swallows her pride and apologises; or
  
  (b) Dr Wiles doubles down and blames everybody else, claims she’s been misunderstood or misinterpreted, and she FEELS that she’s right and that’s what matters.
  
  And now this.
  
  I’m actually quite sad to see someone who is, presumably, well-respected within her profession descending to this level. Can’t help thinking that she should just quietly withdraw from the public eye for a while, for her own sake.

    What happens is because they are so ambitious they sometimes pick on the wrong target or people. In Wiles’ case making up lies and not following her own rules.

      I’ve read a few of her more recent downloadable papers. Although not in the same field, they appear reasonably well written and appear to demonstrate some level of expertise – not that I’m really qualified to judge.

Heard them saying something about…. ‘Thai Police were investigating why a blonde German woman named ‘Barbara’ had been allowed into the back of the Ambulance to spend time with Warney’s body before he was taken to the hospital’.

Thought experiment. The polio vaccine was rightly declared a miracle in 1955. But what if it had effectively stopped working after 6 months? It would have been an outrage.

Yet with the COVID vaccine, we found that effectiveness dropped from 73 percent (not very good to start with) to 8 percent at 25 weeks. And the government responds by buying more and urging people to vaccinate their kids.

  In October 2020 Dr Andrew Hill was tasked to report to the World Health Organisation on the dozens of new studies from around the world suggesting that Ivermectin could be a remarkably safe and effective treatment for COVID-19.
  
  But on January 18th 2021, Dr Hill published his findings on a pre-print server. His methods lacked rigour, the review was low quality and the extremely positive findings on ivermectin were contradicted by the conclusion. In the end, Dr Hill advised that “Ivermectin should be validated in larger appropriately controlled randomized trials before the results are sufficient for review by regulatory authorities.”

  FYI … Salk’s polio vaccine didn’t prevent polio infections, and was only 80% effective in preventing paralysis.
  
  Yes it was a miracle. Yes it made a profound difference to your chances of catching polio, and being badly affected by polio. But it wasn’t perfect.
  
  Subsequent polio vaccines (ie Sabin’s) were much more effective. But it took time for researchers to figure out how to get a “perfect” vaccine.
  
  It’s quite possible Covid vaccines will follow a similar development path.

I thought it was supposed to provide immunity against spread. If not were the following advertising phrases misleading: Safe and effective. 95% effective. Herd Immunity. Do if for your community. Do it for your whanau. MOH, “it is highly effective if people have both doses. That means, if you do catch COVID-19, you’re far less likely to fall seriously ill and less likely to transmit the virus to others.”

  The scientist interviewed on Newshub this morning pointed out this was an analysis of about 400 over 50’s compared with 300+ others who had not got Covid. Things they don’t know are what impact may exist among under 50’s, how it relates to aging (brain changes start in our 50’s) and whether the responses to Covid, like lockdowns, have an effect. Also, if the effects will be long-lasting, or the brain will recover.
  
  So, like a lot of science, it amounts too: we’ve found something interesting and need to do more work on it.

What I gather, is that Mahuta and our govt consider the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a humanitarian crisis first and Ukraine fighting to defend their country as second.

NZ is already a laughing stock around the world with our outdated covid restrictions now we are viewed as weak pacifists who say nothing against tyrants like Putin.

  That is first-class nit-picking. There are a few country names where the definite article is traditionally added in English: Ukraine, the Netherlands, the Gambia, etc.
  More recent usage has begun to drop ‘the’.
  There is similar usage in NZ with respect to provincial names – we often say the Wairarapa, the West Coast, or the Waikato, but we wouldn’t say ‘the’ Canterbury or ‘the Taranaki’.
  But well done for pointing out this most important flaw in the foreign minister’s grasp of international affairs.

  Currently it is made up of
  70.024 cents – National Land Transport Fund
  6 cents – ACC Motor Vehicle Account
  0.66 cents – Local Authorities Fuel Tax
  0.6 cents – Petroleum or Engine Fuels Monitoring Levy
  
  The rest is importers cost and margin and GST on the lot.

    In addition, GST is collected on the overall price of fuel including excise. The GST on excise amounts to 14.6 cents per litre “tax on taxes”.
    
    There are no excise taxes on diesel other than 0.33 cents Local Authorities Fuel Tax, and GST. Instead, diesel vehicles pay Road User Charges.
    
    All fuels also pay an Emissions Trading Scheme levy (approximately 20 cents per litre).
    (+GST?)
    
    In Auckland, an additional 10 cent per litre Regional Fuel Tax is levied on all petrol and diesel sold in the Auckland region (since July 2018).
    So 77.7c + 14.6c + 20c = $1.123 plus Auckland regional tax. (10c)(+GST?)

      Flossie above seemed to be under the impression excise tax is a percentage of the price paid at the pump whereas I was pointing out it’s a fixed amount.
      GST, as always, is a percentage of the final price.
      The Auckland Regional Fuel Tax is paid by the petrol companies, not the end users, based on the amount of fuel sold in the Auckland region. Where the money comes from, who knows? Might be Wellington.

  It’s irrelevant now. As are all mitigation measures. Australia provides a good guide as to likely progression. Hospital cases likely to increase by about 50% from here in 10 days time, deaths up to perhaps 15 a day in two weeks. Overall death toll maybe half or less than the 1500 respiratory disease deaths we get through a normal winter (as evidenced by the 1500 who didn’t die in 2020 winter)

  It’s not news Maggy and was fairly evident that many would not report their RATs test results. Unless that was controlled and followed up on the numbers were going to be lost and it seems they are. Complicating it, even more, was the distribution method chaos of the RATs tests.
  I read yesterday that hospital admissions and deaths might be the most accurate assessment. You’ll remember that for weeks it has been said that for each known case there may be up to 4 to 5 or higher number not known.

      Putin is supposed to be a good chess player.
      Never sacrifice any pieces(including pawns) without good reason.
      The obvious strategy, considering the start positions of all forces.
      1. With half the Ukrainian force lined up against the 2 rogue provinces, move toward those forces to hold them there, but NOT engage.
      2. Faint toward Kyiv
      3. Main attack to come up from Crimea and across from Russia, take all the bridges across the main river.
      4. DO NOT engage directly, unless necessary.
      5. Isolate the eastern Ukrainian forces on the rest.
      6. Destroy them after you have them surrounded.
      7. Only then move to Kyiv from the East.
      8. Move to take Odessa and enclose the rest of the country.
      This will force the Ukrainian army to either retreat to the cities, leaving the rest of the country to be over run
      or
      Come out into the open (worst option) to be destroyed inn open country, where the Russians can get at them.

It was estimated that there were usually about 1,000 people at the Parliament protest. People came and went all the time, so let’s say about 10,000 people were “associated” with the protest.

NZ population is about 5,000,000. Currently there are about 200,000 active cases, or about 400 per 10,000 people. There are only 28 cases linked to the protest. Yet the PM called the protest “Covid camp”.

As of last week over 1/4 of Vic Uni’s hall residents tested positive. Imagine the outrage if Ardern called the halls “Covid camps”. But it’s somehow OK for her to call the protest so, even though its infection rate is about 1/20 of the population average? Is that because protesters are second-class citizens, so it’s OK to call them anything?

Ms Ardern, will you have the decency to apologise to the protesters for calling the protest “Covid camp”?

  Every time some people the government don’t like get together, they trot out Professor Baker to warn it might be a super-spreader event. Remember the rallies in the Domain? And I see the National Party meeting at the weekend is also on their list.
  
  The virus seems somewhat tin-eared though – I never hear any follow up news stories about anyone from these events ending up in hospital or dying from Covid.

  Excellent article tknorriss. Possibly indicates there would have been different opinions within the Kremlin in attacking Ukraine without extensive fighter cover of the type described. So a gamble was taken on Ukraine folding, probably Putin going against advice. Hard to understand why Biden offered Zelenskyy safe passage out if it wasn’t to support the Russian anticipated takeover and a puppet Government formed? Needs an explanation anyway IMO.

      “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon in the sense that it is and can be produced only by a more rapid increase in the quantity of money than in output.”
      
      The high inflation we are going into is the result of extremely heavy Government spending, and far, far from all of it on sustaining businesses during the long anti-Covid campaign.
      
      Politicians will blame inflation on everything else: the supermarket duopoly, the price of oil. shipping and supply shortages.
      
      These will be parallel issues, not the cause of the inflation surge that is on its way.

      As of yesterday, NZ imports all its petroleum products from Oil Refining Countries, not Oil Producing Countries.
      Clearly, even blind Freddy (no insult intended) should have been able to see the risks involved.
      I’m informed that at best, we will have 28-days of supply at any one time (best estimates).
      Who’d want to own an Airline, Railway, Road Transport business, or Roading business with these risks involved?
      Remember, such risks need to be factored into responses to Requests for Tender in all projects (Govt and Private).
      IMO, the Govt should have taken a lease or even purchased Marsden Pt prior to yesterday. Even if they purchased it, they could put it up for lease whilst still maintaining a higher degree of Petroleum Security for NZ.

        If they then catch covid, I’d expect they’d behave as if they caught any other ailment and stay home until they recover.
        If your worry is what happens during the asymptomatic infection period, that is no different to vaccinated asymptomatic people who can catch it as well.

  “The NZ Herald’s policy for political polls is to report only on polls by companies which have signed the New Zealand Political Polling Code. Australian-based polling company Roy Morgan is not a signatory and therefore the Herald does not use their poll results in news stories.”
  
  It would be interesting to know why Roy Morgan are not a signatory – is it simply because they are based in Australia? Are they signatories to similar standards over there?

Boy how things changed. 25 March 2021. NZ Govt Covid 19- NZ Employment guidance.

“Workers do not have to tell their employer if they have been vaccinated or why they are unable or choose not to be vaccinated. ”

“Employers cannot require an individual to be vaccinated. However, employers can require a specific role be performed by a vaccinated person”

” Employers can make changes to an employee’s duties for health and safety reasons, if an employee is not vaccinated. Any such process must be fair and reasonable, and carried out in good faith. Employers must avoid unfair disadvantage. Employers, in consultation with employees, must consider options, such as changing work arrangements, alternative duties or leave. If leave is used, this must be agreed, and we encourage this be paid. Employers and employees may agree to a negotiated end of employment, but individual dismissals are unlikely to be justifiable in almost all cases, based on current circumstances”

Then the legislation changed and added the vaccination act.. Interestingly the act defines “vaccinated” a person has received the doses of the covid-19 required by the government. But the legislation NEVER defines the word vaccine. This is the key term. What is a vaccine? Is it something that stops transmission from one person to another. Because that is what the assumptions in the legislation implies and the vaccine doesn’t do that. So the legislation really says you must take a drug and the doses as determined by the government, not what that drug does nor is it fully approved by medsafe, nor does the legislation discuss the safety of the drug being forced.

The cost and embarrassment of being a director out of your depth and unaware of legal and technical issues can be immense.

Look at the poor directors from Mainzeal, quagmired in legal costs in fighting to limit their responsibility for trading while insolvent.
And in so doing effectively stealing $110m from hundreds of victims.

Now these are our people people! They may have been dangerously lazy and inept, trading on reputation not ability, taking risks with other peoples assets and apparently completely unaware of directors duties. But they are us. Our people, and that means good people. Desperately, dangerously ignorant but us, so inevitably good.

I ask you. Who wishes to see these directors of financial collapse and distributed misery actually held responsible? That would make a terrible example of how good people are treated.

I am calling for a fighting fund to aid these poor maligned friends of the right. They are elite and they are us. They are being bled dry by the need for justice. And while they too are bleeding the nation dry in court costs that is right. They have rights and they are good and they are us.

Please dig deep. And when you doubt your own sanity at the depth of your generosity, dig deeper. QC’s don’t come cheap. The need to keep our people in hair dye and out of the poor house is desperate.

I will open an account under the name They are us, at the Bank of the Bahamas and you can be sureish every Ruble you donate will reach someone.

Forget Ukraine. Forget Tonga. Forget poverty because these are our people and they must not have to face the damage they have wrought with their blissful ignorance of decency and the law.

This is our fight. These are our people.
Dig deep. Weep at your own decency as you empty your bank accounts and torpedo your businesses’ in this fight. What can be more important than showing those evil bastards on the left that we will not break, we stand side by side with our people and we will do what must be done to ensure we are never responsible?

The tyranny of justice must not settle like a suffocating blanket on our dreams.

If there was still a death penalty he should be swinging. And I oppose capital punishment, but the man is clearly guilty as sin and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands at a very minimum. What an abhorrent excuse for a human being.

It was reported last year that My Food Bag is the #3 food supplier to the nation. Since then they have been ramping up supply of additional items – food, fridge, household – and plan to carry on increasing. Maybe they will need a code of conduct too so that all their low income customers get a better deal. //

I tested positive for Covid yesterday, must’ve had it since Friday.

Only symptoms were achy body and feeling very warm (not quite a fever).

Watched movies all day then had a full nights sleep.

Woke up feeling 95% today. I believe it’s all over.

I much prefer this over the cold & flu. Obviously others will have different experiences, although all my friends have had it and had around about the same experience.

I’m unvaccinated and so are half of my friends. The vaccinated half had similar if not worse symptoms. All mild however, apart from one friend that is unvaccinated and very immunocompromised. He had flu like symptoms, but not as bad as RSV.

I know this is personal and anecdotal, but it is what happened. Friend group that got Covid would be 15 people. Including two pregnant unvaccinated.

Not sure if that’s interesting or not. But I found it interesting considering 2 years of this craziness.

  Me and my kids have had it too and our symptoms were just like yours. It was like a hangover but without the headache, more the relax and recharge part of a hangover you get when the headache clears but you’re tired and feel the need to laze about on the couch for the afternoon and eat something nutritious to recharge and replenish your system. I’m unvaccinated too and kept up my regular 30 Winnie blues a day all through it, a habit I’ve had for 28 years. What a crock the last 2 years have been alright.
  A big reason why mandates are being dropped all over the world is because enough people have had it, delta and omnicron, and this is what they experienced and they’re asking the same questions as you. The game is over and the spin doctors are now on speed dial.

      Six million might have been murdered in WW2. But there is not a clear case that 6 million additional deaths were caused by Covid alone.
      LOL, I remember the ‘people dropping dead in the street’ in India, pictures shown by the media, and a workmate trapped there said it was death from heat exhaustion as they walked to their remote villages after the cities locked down and jobs were lost.
      Now there is a whole lot less cancer being detected in NZ over the last couple of years, due to lack of screening and biopsies etc.
      We need to look at this Covid-narrative both with nuance, pragmatism, and bullshit detectors.

My wife works in a mandated industry and as such is required to have the booster shot in order to continue working.

HOWEVER she is recovering from Covid and MOH has advised her that she cannot receive a booster within 3 months of contracting Covid.

Can’t work without booster, can’t get booster.
GP cannot issue exception on what is clearly a medical issue, exemption has to be issued by MOH.

This is a bureaucratic insanity.

On the Parliament channel they are running a series Looking Back. I just chanced upon an interview by Brian Edwards of Bill Rowling done in 1976. It reminded me what an excellent interviewer he was. He asked incisive, probing questions, followed up when necessary and didn’t hesitate to put questions to Rowling about his suitability for the job of Pm. I am sure he would have been equally good on Ardern and certainly would not have let her go off on a tangent when answering questions. The programme was follwed by one on private prisons from Frontline which at the time was fronted like Lindsay Perigo. The quality of journos these days cf those days is hopeless ( apart from Lisa Owen and Ryan Bridge). Like Mani Dunlop on Midday report two days in a row – 1st day was asking an indigenous disinformation research about why Maori had fallen down rabbit holes( it’s colonisation) and the 2nd day the first question to the British High Commissioner about the trade deal was all about what ever clause there is about indigenous stuff

What a shambles the covid daily totals are turning into.
Does the MoH really care about an accurate total?
If they wanted something that a least gave an indication, they would be standardising results of positive PCR results against a set number of testing station daily tests.
Properly done it should give some idea of how accurate the RAT results were.
We have 2x 23,000 5 days apart, 2x 22,000 2 days apart, 2x 17,000 6 days apart and 2x 15,000 7 days apart.
Also no obvious peak.
Do the MoH and government know.
