  Well done DPF. He appeared on the excellent Bolt Report on Sky News Australia last night explaining the racist Ardern regimes agenda to turn New Zealand into the South Africa of the South Pacific.
  Bolt was visibly shocked as will be his viewers on both sides of the Tasman.
  DPF laid out how the Ardern regime had bought off the MSM on the condition they only report what the regime wants as regards race matters.
  I hope the Ardern regime continues until a vast majority of citizens realise whats happening and put the Ardern regime and its racist supporters back in the box and shut the lid permanently.
  I do not want to live in a racist country where Maori are first class citizens and everyone else is a second class citizen.
  I want to live in a country where all are treated equally both in society and by the law.
  Otherwise this country will descend into civil war.

        Yes, it is. You might recall that during the Christchurch mosque massacre that Sky News Australia was taken off the air for a couple of days by Sky NZ because they showed images of the massacre. None of those images were graphic but were deemed to be “inappropriate”. That is, they were taken off in fear of what the NZ Censor might have judged a violation of NZ law, that “law” being not written but wholly at the interpretation of the censor.
        
        This is the shit that Kiwis regularly accept, safely closeted and made comfortably numb by.
        
        Fact is, if it wasn’t for Sky News Australia, Kiwis wouldn’t have much idea of a different opinion, and Sky News Australia only comments on NZ when it seems to be newsworthy. All power to them and I suspect they might be targets for the woke, as I know from inside sources that Fox News has been, too. There’s a powerful campaign to have Fox News taken off Sky. Don’t be surprised if one day it just disappears.

    Potentially, but certainly preceded by an economic and social destruction as businesses leave apartheid NZ, and failing public services skilled migrants (think health care and education etc) choose not to live (and bring their children up) in a country that considers them a second class citizen.
    In essence this law change would render NZ an apartheid regime rather than a free and fair democracy by any Western standards.

    No race won from apartheid in South Africa and no race is winning there from the racist Black Economic Empowerment that has replaced it there.
    
    Yes, there were a few individual “winners” eg. illiterate “poor whites” who got jobs through job reservation, and corrupt individuals making a bundle out of BEE, but no group is really winning and instead everyone is losing.

        To some extent I agree. However most of these people do not live in “society”. They live in bubbles of extreme wealth.
        
        Many of them end up with their wealth overseas or such huge amounts that it does not matter.
        
        Robert Mugabe might have lived in Zimbabwe most of the time (when he did is was in a luxurious house, with all mod cons and a massive generator – food flown in from overseas). He had a jet on loan from UAE and he and his family would fly to Dubai or Europe for shopping or medicals needs.
        
        South Africa’s massively corrupt Ramaphosa has multi-million-dollar properties all over South Africa and, through his family connections, has squirrelled away massive amounts offshore.
        
        When you’re coining it like these buggers are then local conditions mean nothing.
        
        Yes, the apartheid era politicians were also a corrupt bunch, but these lot take it to the extreme.

On the TV one “news” last evening there appeared a guy called Michael Wood, who is apparently a cabinet minister.
Had never seen him before. What’s his claim to fame?
He looks like someone out of that old TV programme “Are You Being Served?” (menswear) complete with the 1950’s hair do.
Also, thanks are due to Simon Dallow for so diligently reading out the media release from the Labour Party re the Fair Pay Agreemsnet law, which he assured us is going to be great for everyone.
Maybe it is – don’t know- but some context and independent analysis would have been appreciated.
But that seems to be the control the Labour Party has over the media now – just say what we say boys and girls.

      And that is hardly working hard for the union members of Finsec in the Banking and Insurance sectors….
      
      No one would care about Unions Mike, but they spend their members money on Labour Party activities – which as a former Finsec member myself I heartly disapprove of…
      
      Every Union member should have a secret ballot available to authorise funds going from any Union to funding Labour Party activities (directly funding or the more insidious Union Reps on full pay going missing on Union members at Election time and running around campaigning for Labour).
      
      If Union staff want to campaign for Labour they should do it on leave with out pay…

    You would think that TV “news” in New Zealand would just die out as the folk that watch it die. It is just vile. Let’s just take something simple like the weather. The format of 5 minutes weather at the end of the programme has not changed since the 1960s. Except all the place names are in Maori.
    
    If I want to know the weather forecast I grab my phone. Why the hell would I watch all that crap to find out if it is going to rain in Christchurch?
    
    There would be a big market in New Zealand for a “news” programme that simply presented some interesting international news, along with some domestic political and business and economic news. No pidgin English. No clown presenters. No propaganda and no bloody weather forecasts.

Jenna Lynch from Newshub obviously hasn’t cosied up (journalistically, of course) to Speaker Trevor Mallard yet like her predecessor. She’s published this, and it’s not flattering for Mr Sprinkler:

Newshub can also reveal how long the protestors endured the Speaker’s sprinkler spree: 19 hours in the middle of a deluge.
He denies he added to the cleanup bill.
“None at all,” Mallard said, when asked how much he contributed to the mess by keeping the sprinklers on.
“There was no extra damage. The lawn was completely stuffed.”
ACT leader David Seymour disagrees.
“This is largely the cost of Trevor Mallard’s immaturity. There was a chance for a mature deescalation; he created an immature escalation,” Seymour told Newshub.
Mallard reacted: “I’m not going to respond to Mr Seymour at all, don’t care what he said.”
Yet to be added to the tally is the cost of securing Parliament grounds in the future. The Speaker wants to build a wall or a fence.
Newshub got a sneak peek of the first design – a fence as high as the cast-iron gates.
The parliament has purchased temporary fencing in the meantime. It’s too expensive to keep hiring.
“We want to have it immediately available if the protestors come back,” Mallard said.
On top of all those repairs, a smaller bill came in: $2750.39 was spent hiring loudspeakers used to broadcast both trespass notices as requested by police and Mallard’s punishing playlist.
Mallard admitted in written parliamentary questions he did not receive any official advice before doing this.
“That’s something which is being looked into by other people and not something I’m about to discuss,” Mallard told Newshub.
“It’s something for the IPCA [Independent Police Conduct Authority, which is carrying out an investigation] and the courts to work out.”
Newshub understands the only reason the music was stopped after hours on loop was because police were complaining of headaches.

We’re probably never going to hear of an adverse finding against Trevor Mallard, and it’s certainly unlikely to happen before next year’s General Election. But the revelation that he ran Parliament’s sprinklers non-stop for 19 hours, at a time when the use of sprinklers in Wellington was severely restricted due to water shortages is an indictment on the quality of his judgment.

And if the noise from the Speaker’s speakers, hired in what looks like dodgy circumstances, was so loud and repetitive that it was causing Police to experience headaches. why wasn’t Mallard arrested and charged with a public nuisance offence? He truly is the worst Speaker in my memory.

PS: Rest in Peace Sir Robin Gray, Speaker from 1990 to 1993, and always a gentleman. How the role of Speaker has been debased since late 2017…

Having down-sized the NZ Defence force during the Helen Clark era, our military has become in essence, the Red Cross for the Pacific Islands.
Following on from her mentor Clark, Ardern has shown distain towards the military (no NZDF personnel at ANZC Parades) and the lack of courage to send nearly time-expired missiles to Ukraine where they could make a humanitarian difference. Ardern’s supposed sanctions are an absolute joke and will make zero difference – The missiles will.
I thought Michael Wood’s smart-arse comment toward National during the debate over the Fair Pay Agreements last night, with reference to Russian Communism, was a crass given the horrific events in Ukraine, but in line with him describing New Zealanders opposed to his views as a ‘river of filth’. It does seem the entrenched Unionist dogma, with its roots embedded in communism, is alive and well within the Labour Party.

What’s interesting to me regarding transporting of ( Used) EV’s is the time to Redesign and Build specialised vessels for their Safe Carriage / Transport.

  BRANZ have published a report on lithium batteries in New Zealand compiled by Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) in January 2020.

  It is a very comprehensive report, and section 6.1 deals with large scale energy storage systems (residential, commercial, network). Although NZ incident figures are incomplete (only up to the first quarter of 2019) the trend is increasing at a significant rate.
  
  Section 10 deals with NZ Building Code provisions, and they are woefully inadequate.
  
  “It is recommended that the installation of LI battery ESS or EV charging station should require a building consent to ensure the installation meets
  the requirements of NZBC clause G9.
  Further work is required to provide guidance on how to prevent spread of fire in the event of an ESS thermal run-away failure scenario.

  I recommend bookmarking this report as a future reference since thermal runaway events are certainly going to feature more frequently. Without more stringent regulation, as it stands now I would be very unhappy should a neighbour strap one of the faddish ‘recycled’ car batteries on their house wall facing my property.

So according to our PM/govt the biggest fear facing Nzers in the next 20-30 years is not covid, housing, poverty, debt, etc, but global warming/climate change!

Everything else are short term problems that we can live and deal with but the climate getting too hot demands drastic action.

What a con job! Whats wrong with the climate getting a bit hotter anyway — its good for crop growing and outdoor lifestyles — that cant be bad.

  If you look at the history of “a bit hotter and a bit colder” you find that the climate has often changed in dramatic fashion over a relatively short time rather than gradually. Currently we are engaged in a large scale experiment where in the last 150 years we have put something like 200 billion tons of extra CO2 into the atmosphere.
  
  There seems to be a general consensus that the climate is warming. Some folk think the rise in CO2 has nothing to do with it. I guess it comes down to “how lucky do you feel” and will your children be OK?
  
  Potential consequences?
  
  For example, melting of arctic permafrost will probably cause the release of huge amounts of methane (a megafart) which will make things warmer which will cause more melting …. you get the idea.
  
  As CO2 levels rise, much of it will be taken up by the oceans. This will make them slighty more acidic which will affect shell growth for the southern ocean plankton that underpin the ocean food chain. Not to mention corals ….
  
  There is evidence that El Ninos are becoming more intense and more frequent.
  
  Not wishing to be alarmist.
  
  FWIW I like Fred Pearce who has an even-handed overview of this stuff and related matters like rivers that are running dry, cleanup of plutonium processing plants and other disturbing sort of stuff.

    I call bullshit on that. Over the past few years, the Northern Hemisphere has had the coldest winters since the 19th. century. Arctic sea ice for the past 2 or 3 years have grown more than the previous 20 year average.

    It’s significantly cheaper to do nothing than to pursue “Carbon Zero”, especially as “Carbon Zero” will fail dismally (as do all socialist schemes).
    
    Adaptation is not only cheaper, it’s actually possible. (Especially if we divert a fraction “Carbon Zero” costs to R & D)
    
    Ultimately our ability to adapt hinges in reliable energy.

      “Adapt” sounds good. In some cases it’s a bit hard to figure out how that “adaptation” might work. Novel to see a KBer endorsing a model …
      
      To pick just one example – the SW USA depends on the Colorado River. In the early bit of the 20th century it carried about 15 cubic km/year. Now in a good year it does about 8 and has been under 4. And of course the demand has gone up hugely – Vegas, Phoenix, LA ….. Irrigated agriculture.
      
      Warmer temperatures reduce the snowpack that feeds the river. El Ninos bring dry years. Right now a good chunk of California’s Imperial Valley is fallowed from a lack of water.
      
      I’m not sure how you adapt to that other by giving up on farming. Pumping groundwater will stretch things but it much of that is non-renewable.

        I did that Google you suggested. The adaptation seemed to look like varying ways of sharing out the pain ie the water that isn’t in the river any more.
        
        Noone (that I saw) was suggesting that abundant cheap energy would solve the problem. There is a big desal plant near the Colorado mouth but (a) there have been engineering problems getting it online and (b) there’s no way it can produce enough fresh water to irrigate crops ….

Finally TV One has woken up and has decided to move John Campbell off the breakfast show , so that’s two senior Hosts that have been moved on.
Second we have this from Jacinda Ardern Misogyny in Politics: we still have work to do, this from someone that obviously hates men and practices it on every Press Conference she calls with her selected questions to the females of the media , as a example Jessica Mutch McKay seems to always get the first question of the day followed by many female Journalists before a male even gets a chance to have a question.
Another example is the smear tactics used on Simon Bridges when National opposition leader,where Tova O’Brien, Jamie Lee Ross Winston Peter’s and set out to destroy him and his credibility with hate,lies and innuendo.
So in her interview with John Campbell on the One Breakfast Show Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister says that we should play the ball not the man or women and there is a reason that exists in this Country because we believe that you should be able to be critique and its not about the person.
I suggest Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister should practice what she preaches before lecturing others.

      No he didn’t wonder out loud if he should start an alternative. That was what people were speculating he meant when he asked his question about whether or not it was adhering to the principles of free speech.
      From what he says Musk considers Twitter to be the public square.
      He also knows that there have been multiple Twitter competitors that have sprung up and not done well (Gab seems to be the exception at the moment but the others are pretty much dead after the initial “I’m switching” rush). Starting yet another competitor would be rather pointless.

    That was the agreement with him being appointed to the board. He already holds significantly more shares than any other party.
    
    My thoughts are that he cannot make a real change to the company unless he has atleast 25-30%
    
    Being on the board means he can affect more change than he could simply as a shareholder. It’s better for him to be on the board.
    My hope is one of his first actions is to get the Babylon Bee reinstated (he is a BIG fan of the Bee)

The One Billion Trees Fund has so far directly funded 47,988,000 trees for planting between 2018 and 2028
That is 4.8 percent of the trees target, in 22.5 percent of the 10 year period allowed for.

And what happened to the Climate Change Committee recommendation to dump the One Billion Trees Fund and instead plant 300 million native trees?

And is that now superseded (seeded– ha, I get it) by Shaw’s announcement in Glasgow that New Zealand would fund other countries to plant trees on New Zealand’s behalf – not only “kicking the can down the road”, but into other people’s backyards.

And that is done in penance for the emissions New Zealand continues to emit.
Nearly everything this Government touches, it fucks up.

  If planting trees in other countries buys more emissions reduction per $ than planting trees in New Zealand, then planting trees in other countries is the better option. The climate doesn’t care where the emissions reductions happen, and there’s no environmental benefit to achieving a result more expensively when the same result could be achieved less expensively.

  Roe vs Wade clearly needs to be overturned. It’s judicial activism and completely unconstitutional. Based on that incredibly stupid Supreme Court decision, the Supreme Court could actually find taxes above a certain point (which they would get to determine) unconstitutional. It’s simply moronic.
  
  Then of course they need to create an actual federal law or maybe even a constitutional amendment to ensure women actually have that legal right.
  
  That’s obviously very difficult (impossible) to pull off which is why the Supreme Court threw the constitution out the window and stepped in.

      If the entity giving out the money doesn’t keep records or fails to establish criteria for awarding the money, then there’s no need to demonstrate anything.
      
      A lack of documentation made it hard to see if funding was fair and there was value for money. No inquiries were made about parent companies’ equity and resources.

Rimmington is the primary driver behind the Hamilton-Auckland choochoo train, he is to blame for tens of millions of dollars, if not hundreds of millions in lost ratepayer and taxpayer cash. That money could have gone towards fixing Taurangas roading crisis, or built a road tunnel through the kaimais (by cleverly excluding New Zealand engineers and workers).

Rimmington also tried to block the sleephead development, thankfully he didn’t get his own way. What is wrong with people in the Waikato? Why do they keep hiring this turkey?

In town to buy some biscuits. Then I remembered that I need some Heineken. $22.99 for a dozen, so I will take 2 dozen; that will be about $43.99.
NO. 24 bottles is $52.99.
I brought that silly arithmetical error to the attention of three staff members and none of them could see anything wrong in the pricing.
Ok, I know a bit about quadratic equations and other mathematical stuff; BUT this is simple arithmetic, and that is beyond the level of intellectual grunt possessed by those three employees. I have on occasions expressed concern about the level of support for the Green Party. The response of those three helps me comprehend how dingbats can get so many votes.

I understand this poll was commissioned once the terms of reference were released, when these notably excluded any investigation of the government policy on children. 60% of the respondents want this area in-scope, and it’s not a wonder when we read headline like this: Covid Restrictions Have Left a Generation of Babies and Toddlers Struggling to Crawl and Communicate, According to Ofsted. In recent years the comments have become a rant chamber for a dozen or so.

It would be interesting to see what percent of comments are generated by the top ten commenters.

My feeling it would be 90%+

Can I suggest a limit of 2 comments per member per post.

Then it would make the blog more readable. In my humble opinion.

  That’s an interesting idea.
  
  An alternative would be to use the uptick and down tick system to control the algorithm.
  
  When someone gets an uptick it is generally an indication that people appreciate this point of view and find it interesting and want to read more of this person’s contributions.
  
  When they down tick, then they want to read less.
  
  So a suitable algorithm might be that if a person has more than 10 upticks than down ticks on a post they can keep posting. If not, then they get limited to 2.

I haven’t forgotten that Mr Farrar wholeheartedly supported all the restrictions throughout the dark days of the Covid cold conspiracy.

When there was one case of the flu in Auckland, this blog completely supported the imposition of the three month plus lockdown.

Since this time, I haven’t seen any posts by the blog owner reflecting on his previous support for the frankly insane restrictions.

Does this mean that he still supports the absurd restrictions imposed over the past two and a half years? Or has he subsequently come to his senses, and realised it was basically nonsense?

I would like to know what the blog owner thinks now about the handling of Covid over the past two years or so.

There are a lot of people who have gone very quiet, because they got everything wrong for a very long period of time. They should be honest, and acknowledge this, in my opinion.

I have been to Alaska twice, and twice to the town of Seward. They have a glacier there – Exit Glacier. Face is about 400M from the carpark. Along the trail are marker pegs showing where the glacier face used to be in years past. Goes back to the 1920s I think.
But what is not told is the glacier face used to be at the ocean, some 12 miles away.
Exit Glacier has been receding since before the Industrial Revolution. Climate Change crackheads are full of shit flakes. It is called ‘weather’ It changes over the centuries

The penny is finally dropping that there is more to getting infected than just getting vaccinated and boosted.

Public health officials are fixated on control. They can control vaccinations. They cannot control things people do for themselves: lifestyle choices that lead to better immunity, Vit D etc.

This is a start, but there’s likely more to come….

  I, and many others, warned that these false claims about the effectiveness of the CV19 vaccine could have serious detrimental effects. It’s looking like we could have been right.
  
  The sooner these bastards stop over-selling the CV19 vaccine the better.

    We could have a double hit this year of a flu outbreak and a measles outbreak – a serious one. You know one that will actually kill a few children and cause very distressing illness in large numbers.
    
    Just a thought experiment. My three year old grand daughter has had COVID. When I was told I was not concerned. I obviously checked in on her but she was fine in a few days. On the other hand, if I was told she has measles I would be extremely worried. Of course she will not get measles because she has been vaccinated. You know by a “vaccine” that works like it says on the packet.

  I know at least a dozen unvaccinated people, myself included, who have had covid and none have been badly sick from it. Hot and cold flushes and a bit tired for 2 days, not even a runny nose. Alot of countries with low Vax rates are learning this too, hence why mandates are dropping all over the place. Unless you’re vulnerable covid is nothing to fear.

  Because vaccination (co-morbities aside) will make no difference to the severity of covid in under 17 year olds. Why expose them to a vaccine with nasty side effects for no benefit.

  My prediction is that PT usage will not move much with half price fares. For most people price is not the barrier. It is just not fit for purpose.
  
  I just checked the PT route planner. I can get to Christchurch Airport from my home in 56 minutes by public transport. Or 17 minutes if I drive my car.
  
  I would not use public transport in Christchurch if I was paid $10 each time.

Is the NZ Army Woke?

From South Africa to Gallipoli, to Passchendaele, to Greece, Crete, Alamein, Cassino, and then Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam, New Zealand infantry, white and brown, showed they could fight, and often along side Aussies.

But something’s changed, according to David Fisher, in the Herald, writing about NZ soldiers’ complaints about alleged acts by the Australian SAS in Timor and Afghanistan.

Fisher writes, in part, of the:

…. transformation in 1994 of NZ Army from a conventional Western military to the iwi, Ngati Tumatauenga, “‘The Tribe of the God of War”. It wasn’t simply the adoption of the name but the incorporation of Te Ao Maori.

It meant a soldier’s pathway into the iwi was one of developing whakapapa. They had to look back and understand how that iwi came to be formed, its tupuna and its defeats and victories. It created an organisation that sought to draw an understanding from New Zealand’s indigenous roots as much as its colonial past.

The NZ Army’s origins go back to settlers’ militia in the Bay of Islands, and later to settler and pro-British Maori units in the land wars from the later 1840s. With units and officers like the guerrilla fighter, Gustavus von Tempsky, from the beginning it wasn’t “conventional Western military.”

What would the old soldier settlers think of the NZ Army as portrayed by Fisher?

Really, one race gets 7 years of additional super because of inate laziness/lifestyle/racism issues. I’m sure however this will go absolutely nowhere like the rest of his ideas. However, I would be interested to know the levels of benefits being received by the targets of this stupidy versus the rate of super. You can’t get a benefit as well as a pension at the same time, it could well be that recipients may be worse off.

  I wonder how ordinary Maori who make good decisions feel about all this? On one hand they would get free money that they have no more right to (or need for) than anyone else, but on the other hand they are constantly looked down on by these activists who treat them like they can’t do anything without help.

Black Lives Matter leaders are alleged to have spent $US6 million in donations buying a luxury California mansion. The house has more than half a dozen bedrooms and bathrooms, multiple fireplaces, a soundstage, a pool and parking for more than 20 cars.

BLM officials tried to keep its existence a secret, a report has claimed.

Pressed on the purpose of the opulent house – known as “the campus” – an internal note was circulated exploring ways to “kill the story”, the New York Magazine reported.
The Telegraph reports Patrice Cullors, who founded the BLM movement in 2013, is a self-described Marxist. It’s been reported that she owns four properties, including a $US1.4 million house in Malibu and a ranch in Georgia.

Stirling University has replaced Jane Austen from a literature course with African American Toni Morrison to help “decolonisation of the curriculum”.

The Telegraph reports swapping Austen for Morrison would also “contribute to increased diversity” on the syllabus.

“The main topics covered will include racial difference and critical race theory, gender and sexuality.”

And …

Glasgow Council is considering removing a statue of the explorer David Livingstone. This is on the ground that the momument is one of eight in Glasgow with links to the slave trade.

This is despite the fact that Livingstone was a campaigner for the abolition of slavery.

The link in Livingstone’s case is that from 1823 he at a cotton mill that in the 1810s had been partnership with two Glasgow-West India merchants in the 1810s, and that the cotton was likely from the West Indies.

When Livingstone returned from Africa to work at the mill he campaigned against slavery.

Scottish Wokies are also targeting Glasgow statues of: steam-engine pioneer James Watt; British Prime Minister Gladstone, whose father owned slaves; and of King William (William of Orange).

  Nothing, but nothing did more to eliminate slavery than the British Empire during the late 1800s and early 1900s.
  
  One of the biggest factors was the Brits kicking the Germans out of Africa during WW1. While the Germans were probably not active slavers at the time, they turned a blind eye to slavery carried out by the local inhabitants.
  
  Both my grandparents participated in this: one in South West Africa and the other in German East Africa.

    The number of Royal Navy personnel that died serving in the W Africa Squadron fighting the slave trade was v high.
    
    Britain raised a loan equivalent to 40% of GDP to recompense the slave owners and this loan was only paid off at the end of the last century
