      If you passed a law making homicide with a firearm a compulsory sentence of life without parole you would make gun crime disappear overnight.   I was in Auckland this weekend, and our host said that a friend of their had their house shot up in the wee hours, because in the past a gang associate had lived there but since moved on/changed occupiers.

Thirty years on…..

How did we get so caught up in this travesty of justice? My husband and I are sensible people. We are both intelligent professionals. I look back now and see that I was captured by the hype. Xxxxx xxxx [Police detective] spent considerable time with us. He was adamant that xxxxxx had been abused “terribly, horrifically abused”. He insisted we get xxxxxx HIV-AIDS tested “because Peter Ellis abused her, and he has AIDS”. I will always remember the horror of holding my daughter down with two other people while her femoral artery was tapped for blood. She was HIV negative. That was abuse!

  Sorry to be picky, but an HIV test is just a regular, very simple, blood test through a vein in the arm. The kind of test I have every 2 weeks.
  
  The femoral artery is very rarely tapped for blood to test for oxygen levels in severely ill people. It seems staggering if this technique was used as an HIV test.

  Labour had a similar problem here with the string of leaders that preceded Ardern due to their internal election process. From what I understand they weren’t caucus favourites, but they were thrust upon them.
  So, how long will Johnson last before some other Eton old boy takes over the reins?

      If ten backbenchers had voted differently he would have had a hostile backbench.
      As it is 148 didn’t vote for a change of leadership; they expressed no confidence in Boris Johnson.
      Nobody stood against him as an alternative.

  How can you be a decent science teacher these days? If you are never allowed to say male, female, girl, boy, man or woman, how do you tell students about human reproduction and the health implications of our differing bodily systems?
  If you are required to tell them that Maori traditional knowledge has the same standing as peer reviewed science, why should they make the effort to engage with objectivity, verifiability and the risk of dispute?

  Don’t forget Maths as well.
  I believe there should be an aptitude test in all subjects to teach, Sure you will be stronger in certain subjects but at least have the resources to teach other subjects if needed.

  The school my sister taught at is a sizeable large town/ small city school – about 1500 boys. Had Two senior maths teachers – both were fired last November. Still today all the senior math classes are “taught” by one primary school teacher with no maths qual. They can’t get anyone to replace those they fired who are not interested in returning after the way they were dismissed and treated by staff and students.

  To sin is to miss the mark. (Apparently, the word actually has its origins in archery). In the Christian sense, sin is about “the wrong we have done, and the good we have not done”, it requires “thought, word or deed” and is acknowledged as occurring “in weakness, … in ignorance, and … deliberate fault”.
  
  Newshub’s writer has a different interpretation, from the modern progressive religion (MPR), in which a person is condemned for attributes largely or partially beyond their control (white, male, bald, rich, middle-aged). Actions, intentions, human fraility are not acknowledged.

  Luxon’s belief in global warming is probably and sadly necessary when you want votes from the heavily brainwashed.
  
  Guyon Espiner mentions a bookcase in the Luxon home jammed with political books, but there are surely more titles in it than those that caught Espiner’s Left eye.
  
  Espiner’s an enthusiast for Maori language, and gave a nod to Luxon’s interest, which is fine as long as Luxon would end the Ardern fanatics’ drive to replace New Zealand English, and would stop State TV and State radio blasting us with an NZ Pidgin blend.

  The “Big Guy” can barely remember who his son is without having it put on a teleprompter Maggie, so I doubt it’s concerning him too much. I read this morning that he’s “seething” about the way his Presidency is being viewed and that his popularity is below that of Trump when he was President. I said to my wife that when he starts “seething”, a staffer should offer him a coffee and a biscuit. All would be forgotten then.

        Obviously you did not read the scientific paper describing the specific effects of the mRNA vaccines on the immune system at a cellular and molecular level. The problem is that the spike proteins from these vaccines are produced in vast numbers (it varies a bit), for some time (shown to happen for up to 160 days but could be longer as that’s when the observational study ended) and exert their effects at a number of levels of the immune response for prolonged period of time. The mechanism by which they work is novel and there has never been any vaccine that acts in this manner so it is pointless comparing them to any other vaccine. Exposure to a virus results in immediate response by a person’s innate immunity.
        
        So you are wrong with everything you said. The difference between your “basic biology” and my knowledge of immunology is that you would not be able to understand the paper I referenced, but give it a try and you’ll see that I have done my homework.

TV One and THREE have shown their true colours over the weekend by not showing the Queens Platinum celebrations live and in the case of TV One showing delayed coverage highlights and not telling their viewers what time it was on.

    I had a seven week contract job in the offices of the Hutt Valley Drainage Board about forty years ago.
    Hands down the most excruciatingly dull place I or anyone else involved in civil work ever endured.
    I also had a minor tutoring job for a couple of semesters at the CIT in Petone. That was pretty woeful, too, but that was because I was press ganged into doing the work against my will by my employers.
    A lot of the tutors walked around with vacant stares, but not the guy who’d managed to convince the institution to buy a big 3D modeler machine.

Honestly, you couldn’t make this shit up. It was reported earlier today that Cindy said her Govt had been working on a solution to gang violence and shootings for some time but it was too early to release their findings. She went on to say their solution will be ready for release in two or three weeks.
I say “pig’s arse” to that, more effin lies! She came home from her trip to the US and found the country just as she left it, a South Pacific shit hole where gangs run riot and kids steal cars and do ram raids while the Police do zip!
It’s only now that some of the MSM but mainly Blog Sites and Podcasts are publishing the truth that she’s decided to try and find a solution.
Well, good luck with that. I doubt she will adopt the Australian (Queensland) solution, just because that’s what National is asking for.
Then again, maybe she picked up a few tips from Biden with regard to how he’s dealing with mass shootings in schools eh?

In a press release in mid-May, Stats NZ announced a provisional nett migration loss of 7,300 people in the year to 31 March 2022, the lowest nett migration figure since 2012. In a February paper to Immigration minister Kris Faafoi, MBIE estimated that somewhere around 50,000 New Zealanders would leave the country in the next year, with an “upper limit” of 125,000 people, or 2.5% of the population, of whom 100,000 would be of working age.

New Zealand already has one of the highest diasporas in the OECD, second only to Ireland, with 16% of people born in New Zealand living in another OECD country. The generally accepted figure is of about a million New Zealanders living overseas to five million in the country. The OECD figures relate only to those born in New Zealand, rather than citizens.

Covid, with its restrictions on travel and movement, has obviously created a pent-up demand for overseas travel and migration, and coupled with a high cost of living, unaffordable housing and poor wages, there is an obvious risk of the country losing a large number of its working population now that the borders are re-opening. But how many have gone and will go?

It is interesting to compare NZ Customs passenger arrival and departure figures with the figures from both Stats and MBIE. During the year to 31 March 2022, Stats showed a nett migration loss of 7300. But over the same period, Customs figures showed arrivals at 389,680, with departures at 473,580. The nett loss on Customs figures is 83,900, and this during a period when travel was heavily restricted because of MIQ and lockdowns.

Now that the border has opened, the number of people travelling internationally has grown. In April 2021, about 39,000 people left, compared to April 2022 when the number of departures was over 141,000. The increase in departures is about 375%, a figure which, if applied to the figures for the year ending in March 2022, would have resulted in a nett loss of close to 315,000 people.

Since the end of the March year, the figures for the nett loss have been 16,310 for April, 6500 for May and a further 6000 plus in the first six days of June. Extrapolated out, it seems clear that the nett loss to this country this year is likely to be around the MBIE top figure for departures alone.

It is trite to dismiss these figures, as the Prime Minister has sought to do, as young people doing their OE who will bring skills and experience back to New Zealand. Those losses are immediate, and will not be replaced by immigration, nor will the skills and ambition that are being taken overseas. Even if 16% of those people remain overseas, the loss to the country could be in the order of 50,000 per year. In a country that struggles with productivity, it is not enough to simply write emigration off as something that has always happened. New Zealand needs to retain its people, not, as has been observed, for them to be its greatest

  A close friend flew ex UK via Dubai & KL to NZ over the weekend. His observations:
  
  * plane only a third full ex LHR. Got three seats in a row to lie down
  * piles got on in Dubai, all got off in KL
  * busy-ish KL to Akld, most of them Indians
  
  Not much sign of Kiwis returning from their OE

One person shot by Police in Wellington this afternoon, shortly after a body was found in a nearby reserve. A patched King Cobra gang member comes to the cordon for the Police shooting and abuses Police. Should we have a go at “joining the dots “ ?. Yesterday a shooting in Christchurch with one injured, on Saturday a shooting victim found critically injured in West Auckland and has since died, and an elderly woman found murdered in Onehunga. Have I missed any ?. The new Justice, prison early release and Policing policies are working a treat.

Navarro was mentioned this morning but I just saw that the night before he was detained for contempt, he went on Ari Melber’s show on MSNBC (where he goes to confess crimes) and said he would gladly go to prison for his Jan 6 ‘Green Bay Sweep’ plan!

Talk about tempting fate 😂 I guess he fucked around and is now finding out, as they say in the US.

So “Maori” want answers from the Ministry of Health as to why their vaccination rates were incorrectly reported and are not as high as we’ve been told.

Well I want answers too:
1. What did you do with all the extra millions of dollars spent specifically on Maori vaccination?
2. Why are Maori refusing to be vaccinated, despite all the extra millions of dollars?
3. If you want answers, why don’t you ask your own people?
4. Does this prove, once again, that spending money specifically on targeted Maori activities is a waste of money?
