      Which means (in theory) less than 5 people in NZ are likely to experience it.

      If that’s the case then anyone who has had covid shouldn’t have to wear a mask in NZ when shopping. But that is not the rules at emergency orange traffic light. We are still under draconian restrictions due to a so called pandemic so she needs to adhere to the rules or remove the rules. To not wear a mask while setting the country to Orange light is doing a Boris, partying on while the rest of us live under restrictions. Remove the tyrannical traffic lights

    She (Jacinda) won’t have natural immunity according to the US & EU docs I’ve been reading on substack.
    That is one reason people are getting Covid 2-3 times a year in UK.
    
    Covid appears to be shedding the T cells in the system and either the patient is still vulnerable or hasn’t shed the Covid virus when they get re-infected.
    
    The worry is that the patients immune system is less and even that they will become immune deficient/compromised to other infections.
    
    IE: a % of us all will die eventually.
    That’s why there is such a move against the CDC/FDA and Pfizer to fess up with the “real in fo” on it all.

      Anyway surely people having a go at learning Te Reo should be encouraged and any cartoons about Te Reo should reflect this.

        There is another reason – more subtle. Cartoonists need to accentuate a persons most prominent feature to ensure recognition. Example – Luxon’s bald head.
        
        Any cartoon of Ardern would have to emphasise her prominent teeth and raise the sceptre of her being likened to a horse. We do not want animal lovers offended do we?

  I honestly don’t get the point of this cartoon at all.
  
  Is Ms. Murdoch attempting to ridicule Chris Luxon for learning Te Reo? I thought the idea of more people learning Te Reo – especially non-Maori – was being strongly encouraged nowadays.
  
  Is she poking the borax at Mr Luxon for pointing out that National is doing quite well? She can’t deny the simple truth that National is now polling higher than any other party, so … what does she expect him to do? Downplay it? “Oh, it’s not that great a result, really …” Any political leader is going to be happy about that sort of result.
  
  Is she trying – through gritted teeth – to kind of congratulate Chris Luxon? If so, she’s doing a poor job of it.

    Last night on TVOne News there was an article about increasing racist comments about Te Reo being spoken and used in the MSM.
    
    An example was given of some racist comments that were made about Christopher Luxon using Te Reo when he sent his condolences to Joe Hawke’s whanau.
    
    Christopher Luxon was interviewed and mentioned that he wasn’t phased by the negative comments and would keep up with his weekly lesson in Te Reo.
    
    The cartoon is mocking Luxon’s effort to learn Te Reo.

        I am not attacking Ukraine, I have no reason to do so. I am simply pointing out that the US in particular, and their poodles in NATO are using the country and people of Ukraine as a tool to attack Russia, that’s EXACTLY what is happening here.
        It began in 2014 and the evidence is available in the recorded conversation in which Victoria Nuland declares who the leader of the country will be after the completion of the US directed and funded coup. A coup which gave real and actual power to far right nazis in the country, totally unproportional to their actual numbers.
        Zelensky is yet another US puppet. He will likely be disposed of soon in one way or another. I think his usefulness is coming to an end.
        This is the truth of what is happening in the country and it is tragic. But it is exactly the same playbook as every other country the US has “helped” in the last 80 years. They are a pox on the world, destruction and misery everywhere they intervene.
        This is accurate observation, it doesn’t mean support for Russia’s actions, but they are a direct and predictable outcome of US strategies in the region.

      Interestingly Canada just banned all handgun purchases. Let’s see if their experience in a couple of years mirrors ours in seeing an increase in gun related crimes and shootings.
      
      I’m not a significant pro or anti on this issue so like to see this through an objective lens. To date all I can see is gun laws targeting the 0.00001% of cases have been largely ineffectual.

        New Zealand has historically had low gun violence. The Christchurch massacre was an anomaly. The response that confiscated firearms from law abiding owners was an over reaction and did nothing to stop gangs holding illegal guns.
        
        But… the massive rate of gun violence in the USA is the result of the ready availability of firearms. I don’t think that is a controversial statement. And there is no solution that I can see.

      No. Individual people on the ground failed those kids.
      The armed guard who was missing for over 12 minutes why the piece of crap was firing outside the school.
      The teacher who deliberately left the security door open.
      The cops who took over twelve minutes to get from the police station to the school which is only a four minute drive at the speed limit.
      The cops who didn’t go in and instead waited for over an hour.

        Sorry Batman, I’ll back the Police when they are in the right/in a difficult position but only an idiot puts a line in the sand and refuses to budge on ideological grounds.
        
        The US does have a major gun problem, no doubt, but the fact remains that this was a massive failure on the ground of procedures put in place to minimise those issues by individuals who were supposed to enact those procedures.
        
        Even if the US outlawed all guns right now these shootings will still happen. They simply have too many guns. This psycho would still have got a hold of the guns he needed and still would have murdered innocent children.
        
        That is why the procedures etc are so important and why the failure of those individuals to protect those children is so bad.
        
        I am broadly for registration and background checks by the way. It’s also worth noting that the gun lobby is VERY persuasive in US politics and the Democrats may talk the talk but are far less likely to actually enact real change at the risk of losing big donors.

When I was a kid I loved going to the Christchurch museum as part of visiting CHCH. There were dioramas depicting Maori living in a cave, fishing tending a fire, drawing on rock walls etc.

They were by all accounts accurate. In fact the director said recently “it may be accurate at a point of time”. What he meant and what too many historians now claim is that “accuracy” changes. Facts can be altered. Truth is expendable. Reality is shaped by social and cultural mores of the moment.

The dioramas are going. Something less “offensive” will take their place. And we will all be poorer for having our history savaged by idiots.

    Generally speaking, Maori lived on the coast of the South Island and that was where their homes were. When they went inland they used the shelter of caves as it wasn’t worth making permanent structures when they would only be used occasionally.
    
    At least that’s my understanding of Maori history.

      My understanding is that maori lived in primitive huts that were themselves part of a village. If the majority of maori did shelter in huts, it is inaccurate to depict them as cave dwellers.
      
      You say you are concerned with accuracy, but a foreigner would incorrectly conclude that Maori were cave dwellers. They should depict the common way of life, not the exceptions.
      
      There are a few homeless people who sleep in the bushes in a nearby park. Would it be accurate to depict them in a diorama of the typical New Zealand way of life? Accurate, but misleading .
      
      So, I’m not convinced by your argument. Nor am I convinced by the Maori argument that they developed ‘technology’.

      I came across this account the other day, John Rutherford talking about a Maori whare in the 1820s:
      
      I judged the hut to be about eight feet wide, and twelve long. It had a fire in the centre; and no vent either for smoke or heat. I had not been many minutes in this oven, before I found the heat and smoke, above, below, and on every side, to be insufferable. I crept out, and walked in the village, to see if I could meet with a shed to keep me from the damp air till the morning. I found one empty, into which I entered. I had not been long under my present cover before I observed a chief, who came with us from the last village, come out of the hut which I had left, perfectly naked. The moon shone very bright. I saw him run from hut to hut, till at last he found me under my shed, and urged me to return. I told him I could not bear the heat, and requested him to allow me to remain where I was.

It’s a group set up within the auspices of Te Pūnaha Matatini, an academic think tank with strong links to Auckland University. Te Pūnaha Matatini is known for its involvement with Dr Shaun Hendy, Dr Michael Plank and Dr Soiuxsie Wiles of Covid infamy. It receives significant government funding.

So what mandate does The Disinformation Project have to tell us what we should, or shouldn’t believe? None that I am aware of, yet TVNZ quotes Kate Hannah as though she has spoken from the Podium of Truth. It seems to me that we are headed down a very slippery slope, especially when many would argue that much of what 1News puts forward could itself be considered “disinformation”!

The anti-disinformation warriors have been required by the official (usually government) and unofficial (usually NGOs and self appointed lobbyists or “know it all academics”) channels, who need to educate the great unwashed public into “right think”.
      
      Yes, Covid has been the recent example, but other examples are the Maori co-governance issues (where those opposing it are called racist, yet the irony is it is everything that was Apartheid South Africa); or the current example of the social media “attacks” on the “actress” Amber Herd; or the French authorities justifying what happened on Saturday with a false narrative.

        HK I totally agree with that, but I believe the covid circus is the catalyst for what is coming. Between the “green new deal”, the “woke” bollocks, the move to give undemocratic power to the likes of the WHO and WEF, covid has been used to see what can be imposed on populations without major rejection or protest. The answer has been “far too much”.

There are no directly equivalent words or terms for “development” or “ministry”, or in the same way, “smelt” or “democracy”, as they are foreign ideas & processes.       My position is as I stated. What is happening was as entirely predictable as it is tragic. Young men killing each other, innocent civilians dying as collateral damage, societies destroyed. All because some people believe they have the right to impose their will on others. The US started doing this in Iran in 1953 and have repeated the exercise in dozens of countries in the following years. The outcome has always been the same. Devastation for the country concerned.
      
      As for your claim that “If nobody had supported Ukraine it would become a vassal state of Russia similar to Belarus” – I don’t think it would, but neither you or I can know that for sure.
      
      I believe that the Eastern, Russian speaking parts of Ukraine would have been assimilated, I doubt Russia would want to take all of Ukraine and I doubt if they could.
      One thing that would definitely be true is, whatever the outcome, it would have been over far quicker and with substantially less death and destruction without the western interventions.
      Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya – the list is massive. When if ever has a US intervention went well for the country concerned?
      I feel saddest for the majority of the population of Ukraine who elected Zelensky to make peace in with those in the East. He was hijacked by the far right in the country and prevented from carrying out his election promise.

Todays a day you’ll want to keep away from $tuffed and the Ferald. Ardern’s taxpayer funded propaganda machine is out in full force banging on about her meeting with sleepy Joe. The only reason he would have wanted to catch up with her is because they’ve got an infant formula crisis in the US and we might be able to help them out.

Also the evolving China situation is of more concern to the US than Ardern obviously. Hopefully Biden asked her what our foreign minister is doing about it.

Stuff I tend to stay right away from, unless somebody on Kiwiblog points to something that may be of interest – I don’t particularly enjoy them trying to push their beliefs on me, so I avoid the site as much as I can.

When Cindy took over as party leader, the biggest health scandal was a brown water stain in Middlemore hospital that Labour said was a leaking sewer pipe (which it wasn’t).

Now we have huge problems in hospitals. Here’s a person with typhoid having to sleep in their car.

Last week I had to go to the Christchurch ED for a few tests and was there from 4pm until midnight. I asked two nurses how they felt about their new ED building. Both prefered the new building but said things were better in the old building because they don’t have enough funding for the staff they need to operate effectively. As a result they cannot use the increased capabilities of the new ED properly.

So it’s really bullshit blaming the lack of staff on the pandemic, or even on MIQ. If there was no pandemic and no MIQ the staff would still not be employed.

This lack of resourcing goes through the whole system: blood tests which should have taken an hour to 90 minutes to process took over 3 hours.

I bet all hospital staff across NZ wish they could wind back the clock to 9 years of neglect and a water stain being their biggest problem.

  My 80+ aged parents got up before the crack of dawn the other week to drive 45 mins to their local hospital for my dad to have surgery requiring two night stay. Had the RAT test then Sat and waited for 5 1/2 hours in a cold room having not eaten since 8pm the previous day, at which time his surgery was cancelled. The surgeon had run out of time in the half day he had on site.
  
  Not really an acceptable way to treat anyone let alone our oldest. Dad, always a stoic kind of guy (ex cop) was close to tears.

I remember when

Tesla appear to have a serious supply issue with its charging port electric control unit.
Based on reports, it seems the issue started mid-April and Tesla still delivered the vehicles to local service centres to wait for the part.
In some cases vehicles have been sitting at a service centre for more than a month.

  As above, the jurors included 3 people who donated to Clinton, 1 who donated to AOC and 1 who’s daughter who was on the same sports team as Sussman’s daughter. And these were the most acceptable of the juror pool. Imagine what the blocked jurors would have been like? The defense probably used up all their blocks on anyone that wasn’t fiercely pro-Clinton (DC’s 56% Democrat vs 28% Republican).

I see Labour are still running the “Groceries are so expensive because of rapacious supermarkets” campaign. They’re busy doing things to look busy but the likelihood they will make any measurable difference is nil. Clayton’s actions.

Not saying that the Labour Government permitted Duopoly don’t make excess profits by international standards but these would add up to a couple of dollars a week per person in NZ. Approximately 2%, which was already baked in prior to recent inflation.

Recent inflation that is predominantly caused by the current government’s lax financial policies.

– Brainwashing is best accomplished when you have no idea that it is being done but simply occurs as part of the fabric of your life. While you may “feel” that something is wrong, you are nonetheless being programmed. Simply think about TV Commercials and shows….

Facts: US population 334 million consisting of 57.8% White, 18.7% Latino, 12.1% Black and 11.4% Asian or other.

– Then break that down to about 10% of all existing marriages that are interracial including those of all races, and only 5.6% of the population that identifies as LGBT. You would expect the same ratios in TV commercials if they represented America —— but here’s what you see instead (taken from a log of TV commercials over a four month period) which is quite different.

TV: White men (as the majority of Americans) have all but disappeared. When they are in commercials they are either old, ugly and sick or they are the partner of a Black woman and have no speaking part. In three of the commercials the White men are doing laundry and always paired with a little girl to whom they are delivering the clean clothes. In other words, less than 10% of the population is driving 90% of the narrative.

Zero commercials of White fathers and sons. None! So while 75% of White children live with both their parents, including their fathers, we choose instead not to model that in favor of the 62% of Black children that do not live in a two parent household? This is our new normal in their eyes? As acceptable? Is this the healthy “normal” image we want to model to our population?

Equally disturbing: Young White boys and Teens have also disappeared, unless they were flagrantly new age gay, as though that represents the “majority” instead of the pitifully small minority. What distorted perception of reality does that serve? The study found a majority of the children were White girls with a Black “brother” even though this represents the smallest percentage of any reality discussed thus far! The MAJORITY of TV commercial couples consist of a White woman with a Black man; when in reality, these make up about 6% of the 30% of Blacks that are married or about 2% of our population. Are you starting to see how ridiculous, yet pervasive this extraordinary brainwashing is? Exactly what are they trying to program into us with this relentless deluge of non-reality?

– Surprisingly, in the month of December, there was an uptick (but not a majority) in good-looking White male models, but research determined that in each and every case it was a cologne commercial and every one of those commercials were made in Europe where they still use white men in their commercials. On the other hand, here they prefer to portray young White males as so mind-numbingly stupid as being incapable of delivering their lines and couldn’t even say “Liberty Mutual,” the insurance company featured in the commercial.

– Over a period of four months, it concluded that while the African American population in America is only 12% they were in 94.3% of the commercials. Black males are only 5% of our population —— yet were in 89.7% of the ads. Then you have to ask, where are the Asians and Latinos that make up nearly THREE TIMES the black population? Are they in THREE TIMES the number of ads or is something severely skewed here in the minds of Hollywood and Madison Avenue?

– The fact is that while White males make up the largest segment of our population, they were in only in 4% of the TV commercials! In most of those cases they are in their 60s to 80s and were pushing medication for debilitating diseases, reverse mortgages (Tom Selleck) or Medicare plans. While the study had many, many more alarming facts, one that really stands out is that except for Lincoln, virtually every ad campaign for new cars featured a woman driver. In the commercials for automobiles, there were more Black women drivers than White women drivers. Again, Europe was the exception: Mercedes and BMW had NO VISIBLE DRIVERS!! They showed the cars cruising highways but never allowed a view where the driver was visible. I found that very interesting. Are they more interested in selling the product while we appear to be more interested in selling the political/racial message?

– And it is not just our commercials that offer this skewed media driven unreality. It is also nearly impossible to turn on a show that doesn’t have a gay couple or LGBT component, yet in reality only one in eighteen should, if they want to accurately represent the less than 5.6% of the population that fall in this group. The results of this brainwashing are dramatic and very successful. Despite the low percentage in real life, when polled, Americans have been brainwashed to believe that 24% of all Americans are LGBT! Based on commercials, they must also believe that the “average” American family is biracial, that white men barely exist and Latinos/Asians do not exist at all.

– That is the magic and the tragedy of the fake, dishonest and unrealistic “woke” TV that we watch and are affected by 24/7, even though it is far afield from our reality. Ditto for the “woke” minority that follow mindlessly in its wake, thinking that this bizarre narrative is in fact real or justified, when it is merely an illusion and fabrication. They truly do control our entire thought process and will distort our perception of reality, if we allow them to do so.

– While it is one thing to erase the stigma of single parenthood, bi-racialism , or unusual sexual preferences, it is another thing completely to portray them as the “Role Model” or “Norm,” as representative of our entire society, especially at the expense of true normality or realism.

  I listened to the interview. What a train wreck. If Pharmac gives priority to funding drugs for Maori, by definition that means less funding for non-Maori.
  
  There is nothing wrong with Pharmac. It just needs more money (could easily be funded by cutting criminal waste elsewhere).
  
  I heard Andrew Little declare “this is the end for the independent republic of Pharmac”.
  
  In other words, the tested model of allocating the drugs budget so that net benefits are maximised for all New Zealanders is gone. Yet another “everything they touch turns to ****” 🙁

The wife just got a text offering her a $50 gift certificate if she will get a covid19 vaccination.

I used to get those text messages regularly until I replied asking them how they obtained my private health information.

They are still trying even after the “vaccine” has been shown to be less than a true vaccine and potentially dangerous.

More and more data being released under court order is showing this “vaccine” can have significant negative health effects.
