Is the Green Leader James Shaw calling for rolling strikes from students in our schools responsible or is this getting more militant to appease those that have tried to have him removed as co- leader of the Green Party.
Here we are in New Zealand knowing we already have a problem in our High Schools with truancy and we have a Political Leader and Climate Change Minister calling on school students to start a rolling series of climate strikes until next year General Election to put pressure on Politicains and Businesses to take greater action.

This is again Irresponsible as you are creating more problems for our schools and those that want to improve the Education System but it seems James Shaw is more interested in his own problems and his co Leader job with being a Government Minister.

  It’s a good thing his loon politics are the same as the media Pardy’s , otherwise they’d be calling him an extremist who’s not worthy of our vote and who should be cancelled and unpersoned , lose his access to banking and other services .
  
  School pupils in this country can’t afford any disruption to their studies , police resources are wasted on the protests and the general public is unfairly inconvenienced by these middle class displays of hypocrisy.

  The fact that the kids were demanding that livestock numbers be halved in NZ told me what this is really about, which is a political protest directed by the Left. If the kids marched down to the Chinese embassy and demanded that Chinese Government cuts its emissions then they would have more credibility in my eyes. Also kids if you want to lead start by dumping your phones. In years to come you will be the sort of people flying around in private jets demanding ordinary people shouldn’t have cars.

  Shaw is not a nice guy. He is a dangerous fanatic with a high work ethic. He is quite capable of doing what he says. Which of course is in stark contrast to his colleagues.

  What a fool! NZ truancy rates are at an all time high and here we have a government minister promoting the idea!
  Alternatively how about something you feel so passionate protesting about occurring on a Saturday or Sunday?
  
  I’m sure the turnout would be significantly less if children had to choose between politics and their sport (rugby, netball, hockey etc) or recreational activities.

  Well predicted! The All Blacks were very good yesterday, none more so than Jordie Barrett who was a revelation at #12. His hard aggressive running brought a directness to the All Blacks on attack. Brodie Retallick was back to his barnstorming best, along with his long-time locking partner Sam Whitelock. Whitelock should be installed as All Black captain for next season, allowing Sam Cane to focus on Juarez being an outstanding loose forward.
  
  The one negative last night; for all his obvious ability, Reiko Ioane still has a distribution issue. Foster should get Conrad Smith involved briefly to give Ioane a session on drawing and passing. He died with the ball at least twice last night with unmarked teammates outside him. In a tight match, that could be crucial.
  
  Overall, a big step forward. Well played lads!

      I was pleased for Codie Taylor too. He wsa totally shattered after the loss to Argentina, but there was some redemption for him last night, especially with the lineout drive try he scored. He still has plenty of good rugby in him.

        His throwing was much better last night. The All Blacks scored a try and a penalty try from lineout drives while he was on the field, and he generally hit his man. He was solid around the ruck and maul as well.

    Ioane is, instinctively, a winger. The second he gets the ball he becomes oblivious to his support. The ball is held under the arm or in one hand and the focus is on the tryline. Would Jordan have scored had Ioane passed at the right moment? Who knows. What was patently clear is that Jordan ran the perfect line and had Ioane been a centre of the ilk of Bruce Robertson, or Conrad Smith then it would have been all on.
    I saw a comment last night that Ioane needs some counselling from the likes of Fred Allen or Grizz Wyllie about his role on the field.
    Caleb Clarke is another with a tendency to die with the ball. Entertaining as it is, Caleb is unlikely to bowl over the whole of the opposition -try as he might. He needs to look to offload.
    We are heading into a World Cup campaign without an established inside/outside back combination. Jordy barrett might fill a gap in the mould of Ian McRae. If so, he needs gas, intelligence, skill and selflessness outside him. I am not sure who that will be.

    IMO Caleb Clarke is too slow to play on the wing. Yes he can hit it up and bust a couple of tackles like Sean Fitzpatrick used to do. But he gets run down from behind in about 5 meters.

    Is it Joe Schmidt’s suggestion as it fits in with the use of Bundee Aki by the Irish.
    Inside centre/second five is very much a catalyst position requiring size, strength, power, defence and ability to read the game.
    His impact has been increased by the superior patterns the All Blacks are now using.

  I thought the AB’s were much improved and thought Jordie was great at no.12. However, I wouldn’t get too confident as I thought the Aussies played very badly with way too many errors. I am not confident that we would have beaten Ireland, France or a few other teams last night. The competition was pretty poor.

    It was poor because opportunity was greatly reduced because of both better attacking and defensive patterns/systems.
    The influence of Ryan continues to grow and with it greatly increased confidence and certainty.
    Our kicking is now far more considered, varied and purposeful.
    Even with Cody’s weakness at lineouts the set pieces are becoming a weapon.
    Put simply, everything is getting better.

    What none of our polis seem to “get” is no matter how carefully you select “moderate” Muslim immigrants, you have absolutely no idea how their kids will turn out – it is the second generation, who are citizens of the host country, who cause most of the problems in Western Europe…and they can’t be deported.

      DG, it dangerous ideas like yours that result in a racist justice system in Sweden convicting moslems of rape at 4.5 time the rate of other ethnicities.
      The same sort of rascism permeates Aotearoa, where many more Tangata Whenua are convicted of violent crime than other ethnicities.
      We need to work towards more equality of outcomes where people are treated with special regard according to the colour of their skin, rather than according to their behaviour or the content of their character. //

Overlooked by the msm is the current struggle in Iran going on to remove the obligation for women to wear the hijab. This has been driven by the death by police of Masha Amini.

    Yes. Silence. AFAIK there are few practicing Muslim Iranians in New Zealand. They are refugees from Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. They would go nuts if Jacinda came out against the hijab 🧕. And how can she given her history of wearing it?
    
    You can watch pre 1979 Street scenes of Tehran on YouTube. Vibrant scenes of women laughing and wearing western clothes. That ambition is still there. It is simply repressed by violence and credible threats of death and imprisonment.

I don’t know enough of Gerald’s private life to comment on the 1976 ‘boys in his room’ saga but it is interesting how his support came mostly from National MPs.

    Lol Jim, Walsh did what needed to be done in that game against Canterbury. Wellington (particularly Tana Umaga) used to bend the laws all the time, certainly killing the ball on the ground.   I see Simon Wilson showing his colours and putting lipstick on the pig in response to the Q&A Kantar poll out today (paywalled in today’s Herald). It shows Brown on 35% and Collins on 29%.
  
  It starts with:
  “There is, apparently, a ‘mood for change’, and it’s driving Wayne Brown to success in the Auckland mayoral campaign. Is this true?” and proceeds to tell us why Collins is a more worthy recipient of votes from those wanting change.
  
  I trust Brown will get equal exposure in the interests of balance, but time is running out with voting papers now out.

    If Brown wins, no doubt Collins will blame it on racism and the whites not wanting a brown face from South Auckland. IIRC, Brown is Maori, but if true, that won’t stop the chant.
    If Collins loses, it will mainly be because of his affiliation with Labour. That is the poison and why so many Labour candidates are not mentioning it, even changing the colour of their posters.
    Wellington will be more interesting. If Eagle wins, will Labour win the by-election?

  I noticed that too. I thought his comments on Taiwan were pretty ballsy and good to hear – the Chinese are an aggressive bully, the only way they won’t cross the strait is if they genuinely believe the US will weigh in on the Taiwan side. Then, incredibly, the underlings did the walk back. Almost like they were telling the Chinese to relax and not take the old guy seriously.
  
  Not the first time Biden’s said something and the underlings have walked it back like he’s gone off script. There are often clarifications after presidential speeches no matter who is in office (no, the president has been clear…..etc), but these ‘walk backs’ seem more like a complete reverse than finessing the message.

Maoridom went first in shaping a response to the UNDRIP/He Puapua challenge – and now Willie Jackson has a problem … that he can neither withdraw, nor water down, the Draft Plan for implementing the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples without exposing the Labour Government to the most withering political fire from Maori.
His Pakeha colleagues face the same problem, but in reverse. If the Labour Cabinet signs up to UNDRIP/He Puapua, then it can kiss the 2023 election good-bye.

Therein lies Jackson’s problem. The moment the He Puapua Report entered the public arena it was too late to order it shredded. It had become a ticking political time-bomb that could only be defused with the co-operation of all sides of the Māori sovereignty debate. It’s only saving grace was that it was not – yet – an official government document. This was a godsend for Jackson and the Labour Government. They had been given a few crucial months to do whatever was needed to prevent a potentially fatal political explosion.

    The Left, which is Mr Mapps original home before a mid-life transfer to the wet branch of the National Party, in Western Europe particularly but also here and in Australia have always called for Nuclear disarmament.
    
    A Noble goal until you know that the CND in the UK and the Greens in Germany who where at the forefront of the disarmament movement in the 1980s where heavily infiltrated by agents of the CCCP. It was all pushed by Putins former organisation to weaken Western defense posture by leveraging their old friends – the Useful Idiot class

        South Africa did develop their own nuclear weapons, but voluntarily gave them up in 1994/95.
        Thee has always been the suspicion of a joint Israel – South Africa test in the southern Indian Ocean.
        
        As we know, a number of Middle Eastern countries have tried to develop nuclear weapons, in breach of their specific obligations under the NPT. Iran, Iraq, Syria and Libya. Apparently not Egypt.
        
        In the 1950’s and early 1960’s Canada seriously considered the option, as did Sweden. That was before the NPT came into force in 1968.

7 Sri Lankan medical students escaped from Russian army torture chambers in Vovchansk.

Pure evil they are alleging:

The Russians arrested the 7 at a checkpoint in Kupiansk just after the invasion of the Kharkiv and shipped them off to Vovchansk.

The 6 men were shoved into a small room for 4 months, and were slowly starved by the Russians, only given two small meals each week.

The Russians constantly extorted them for money, yanking out toenails from two of the men (or bashing the butt of the rifles against their toes) when no money was provided.

The older woman was kept in isolation in solitary confinement with no communication with any other prisoners. When she asked the Russians for her heart medication, this was denied.

On the rare occasions the Sri Lankans were allowed showers the Russians would beat them aiming at the kidneys.

Otherwise the Russians only allowed the Sri Lankans out of confinement for forced labour, to work as their slaves to do menial tasks.

How long will it take before someone is killed in these robberies that several juveniles are doing on a daily basis now , it started with ram raids and has now got to daylight smash and grabs in our shopping centre’s in the North Island now after the robbery at Michael Hill Jewellers today .

This Government could not care less about business in New Zealand because if they they would bring in adequate pun for these clowns and teach them the lesson of crime does pay instead of giving them a smack with a wet bus ticket and encouragement to do it again.
What else can you really say when this idiot Government don’t charge people for smashing up the shops during robberies , the people making these rules for young offenders need to be held responsible for the crimes these young people are doing if they continue on the path of crime with no consequences.

    There was a court case I recall where the security guard was killed on his first night on the job.
    He had no training whatsoever.
    That was nine years ago, so the business may have smartened up in the interim.

A few days ago on the post, Sportswomen don’t need saving there was a very personal comment by one “tripewryter”, concerning the female-to-male transition of his 16 year old grand-niece:

Coming up to his 16th birthday early last year he finally confronted the fact that although he occupied a girl’s body he had never felt a ‘girl’.

She preferred the company of boys to girls. She seemed to identify more with boys than girls.
On the farm she was most likely to get stuck in particularly with unpleasant tasks such as the killing of animals. The girl cousins shied away from anything unpleasant.
I could go on.

It clicked with his parents, too. His father, my godson, noted that he had worried about his daughter, who seemed deeply unhappy all the time. No-one knew why. Even she couldn’t explain it until she came to the conclusion that really she was a boy – and wanted to be that and live that.
…
He paid for his own ‘titty-cut’ – a double mastectomy – at a private hospital. Other procedures will follow. He’s paying for it as much as possible.

I think he should read this from the WSJ, “Every Tomboy Is Tagged ‘Transgender’/The terminological change behind the push to ‘treat’ sex-role nonconformity with surgery or hormones” :

“The equating of sex nonconformity with transgenderism arose incrementally, through a complicated regulatory process involving court decisions and bureaucratic guidelines…”
“… that were presided over by transgender interest groups. Borrowed from the women’s legal movement, the nonconformity framing was designed in the early 2000s and solidified during the Obama era to empower judges and bureaucrats at the federal Office for Civil Rights to bypass rulemaking procedures and force schools, on penalty of violating Title IX, to defer to their students’ gender self-identification. bWe should treat children who are different with compassion and acceptance. Transgender ideology does the opposite.

When children say they’re transgender, that frequently prompts a visit to a gender clinic where a ‘gender-affirming’ therapist may prescribe puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and even surgery to ‘fix’ this perceived misalignment between ‘gender identity’ (i.e., social roles and stereotypes) and the child’s biological sex. As an ideological matter alone, this is regressive in the extreme. It repudiates decades of work by women’s-rights activists who rightfully gauged such notions as sexist and oppressive and fought to free nonconformists from social stigma.

Subjecting children to body-altering surgery and drugs is a medical scandal of horrifying proportions.”

  Yep Tom, it will all end in tears. My daughters best mates when she was small were boys. She hated dolls but loved dinosaurs. She didnt like playing doctors and nurses, but could run like a hound, jump over small buildings (representing Counties Manukau and Auckland at athletics for 6 years) and was playing womans reserve football at 15. She loved rough and tumble. None of that made her a boy. And as she got older and educated she gave up the rough and tumble and is now quite the young woman. This whole gender nonsense is going to bring a tsunami of pain to a lot of people in the fullness of time.

    I think most of us have experience of great New Zealand women who were tomboys when young. Ask them and I’m sure the vast, vast majority would be horrified at the thought of being drugged and cut up because of it.
    
    Over the last ten years that this has been a growing ‘thing’ I’ve gone from mildly supportive to confused and unsure and have now reached the point of being strongly against.
    
    One of my teenage daughters is very much caught up in all this currently. Love her to bits but I will not consent to drug treatment or surgery (not that it’s yet come up). What she does as an adult is her decision.

      Same here. I worked with two trans back in the US (they worked for clients of mine) who had done the male->female thing. They were satisfied with what they’d done and seemed stable. But one had been 39 and the other 41 when they went through the whole process; adults with a fair bit of life experience by then.
      
      Not 16 year olds. As I read that comment from “tripewryter” about her unhappiness. Well FFS, how many of us were angsty, sulky, unhappy, whinging, “depressed” teenagers in those years of puberty? Almost everyone I knew including me – although I knew a few stable buggers. Christ, it’s just life and you get through it, as IVV describes. Making such huge, permanent decisions at that age is just wrong and a serious mistake that I think she’ll regret at some point.
      
      And when she does I wonder how many of her “affirming” family members and the wider family she’ll confront and ask, “Why didn’t you try to stop me?”

These crims are willing to kill anyone in their way. Yet, when caught the judges go boohoo they had a bad childhood so it’s all forgivable. Having a bad childhood is a get out of jail free card, and a license to commit violent robberies.
