  So which ethnic groups make the biggest contribution to our society and which make the least.
  Well at the risk of being labelled racist ( the last bastion of the coward and those who have no rebuttal) I have decided to rank them.
  1. Chinese. Since the current wave starting arriving in the mid 1990s as a result of the HK takeover they have worked to build up businesses and educate their children. The extreme irony is that those children take out the top English prizes along with many other subjects at our best schools. Apart from drug crime Chinese dont feature in our prison population.
  
  2. Indian. Apart from owning most of the dairies and good on them again they educate their children and dont feature in the crime and prison stats.
  3. Europeans. A mixed bag. Have lost their mojo over the past 50 years. Need to pull their socks up. Like the Cruates egg good in parts.
  
  4. Pacific Islands. Generally work hard, go to Church on Sunday and try and educate their children. Sometimes easily lead into trouble. Feature in the crime stats above their population numbers.
  
  5. Maori. Use all sorts of excuses. Like 200 years of colonisation. Various Governments have taught them to put their hand out. Not good at domestic relations (cough). Over represented in all the bad sats. Their Leaders are a waste of space and do nothing to improve their lot. A Tribal people with traits very much like the old English class system. The Tribes head families take and control the wealth ( think Mahuta).

    Actually it is a pretty racist thing to do. To lump every person in the group in the way you have done. Think of Martin Luther King when he said people should be characterised by their individual qualities rather than the colour of their skin.

      It’s not rascist, but is a generalization and an accurate one at that.
      
      Just because maoris appear on the worst of the statistics doesn’t mean we should cry rascist and refuse to do anything apart from virtue signal and throw money at it. We need to put our big boy pants on and demand action from those effected, not just throw cash at nothing and expect a different outcome.
      
      Of course there are outliers but the stats don’t lie.
      
      How many maoris do you see running dairies, pizza huts, subway etc? Sweet FA.
      
      Regardless of your skin colour and where you were born, if you get educated and work hard you will have good outcomes in this country. If you smoke weed and sit on the couch you will have bad outcomes.
      
      Its just that statistically, Asians and Indians are more likely to be educated and successful than maoris. “Europeans” can go either way but again statistically do more educating and therefore sit on the better side of the outcome scale.
      
      The opportunity to be educated is available for everyone in this country and for maoris it is literally handed to them on a plate with free this and grants for that. So why don’t more head down this path?, The maoris I know that got educated and work hard are doing just fine. There are no excuses, it’s time for action.
      
      It’s all a personal choice but unfortunately due to lack of motivation from parents sitting on the couch with their hands out eating fried chicken and not giving a shit about their kids and whether they attend school or not causes the problem to continue through generations.
      
      School is compulsory. We have free lunches there. There is no excuse not to attend. Yet kids don’t agenda and nothing is done. How about withholding benefits if your kids don’t attend the minimum days required? How about actually teaching the basics again – reading, writing and maths. Schools are incredibly well funded but its no good if your 10 year old is on the street vaping instead of attending.
      
      We have school attendance at around 40% and educational outcomes well south of that. No wonder we are turning into a country full of dumbasses with their hands out.
      
      It’s not hard to work this out.

        Our NZ population is so small we probably don’t decide the definitive plural of “Maori” in the English language.
        
        My old (1973) version of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary gives both “Maori” and “Maoris” as the plural.
        
        You still sometimes hear “Maoris” in colloquial use in NZ, but less often than 20 years ago.
        
        With 5 million of the world’s 1.3 billion English speakers we can’t be too definitive about the spelling.

      You are correct, Wayne. Lumping everyone together based on ethnicity and skin colour in this manner is loathsome. Sadly, governments and others who make decisions that affect our lives employ this generalizing racial and gendering nonsense all the time and that is why we end up with ‘Maori Affairs’ and ‘Pacific Peoples’ ministries- as well as a divisive ‘Ministry for Women’. I agree with you that such organisations are anachronistic and should be abolished as noone should be characterized by the colour of their skin or ethnicity or gender but solely by their personal attributes.

      Exactly Wayne. The Government and certain activists are constantly telling us “Maori are more affected by Covid”, “Maori have worse education outcomes”, “Maori don’t live as long”, “Maori don’t earn as much”, “Maori are more likely to go to prison” etc, almost always followed by requested for money for a “for Maori, by Maori approach”.
      
      The thing is that “Maori” is almost never the reason for these issues.
      Covid and lifespan issues relate to health choices like actually going to the doctors, nutrition, poison choices (alcohol, drugs, smoking etc).
      Poor education outcomes relates to going to school and actually studying and doing worthwhile subjects etc.
      Not earning as much relates to education and other life choices (including alcohol, drugs and smoking).
      Jail relates to choosing to commit crimes.
      
      All of these things are very real issues throughout our country which affect more than just Maori. We need to start addressing the personal choices people make instead of just saying – “a disproportionate number of the victims of these choices are Maori so the system is racist/unfair and it’s not their personal fault”.
      
      It is racist to assume that just because someone is Maori that the system will fail them/that they can’t thrive in this system. Race has nothing to do with it, it’s poor personal choices that need to be addressed.

    I have heard HDA question her before, when she starts pissing about and refusing to answer HDA does her job, she gets angry, and no longer seems to support the left.
    She has grilled Robertson, Hipkins, Veral and others for trying to cover their failures, she really gives Robertson a kicking, she laughs at him when he starts bullshiting, he comes down from his high horse and sounds like a whimp when she pulls him up.
    I note Ardern refuses to go on the show because she would fold like a deck of cards like she use to on Hoskings show

People and especially the voter can’t see why this Government and the Health Ministry Andrew Little don’t like targets and measures but it very easy to understand if you are Andrew Little because his ability to do the job is measured in failure.
Can anyone tell me what Andrew Little has achieved apart from ” Failure” and the answer is no, as everything he touches turns to shit, head of the Union when they had the largest loss in membership under his watch, took three attemps to win the New Plymouth electorate and failed so reached Parliament by the list, became Labour Leader and his poll ratings for Labour and himself were the lowest that many in Labour had seen so stepped aside for Winston Peter’s to install Jacinda Ardern as Prime Minister and the rest is history.
I could go on but I would here all day trying to remember when he hasn’t fucked up.
So to sum it up the only thing Andrew Little has got to measure himself against is failure because he hasn’t achieved any thing else apart from the blame game.

  As you will recall it was the debacle over the vote whether or not to have a debate on this issue that was the coup de grace on Ms Liz.
  Reading the article if a free vote was allowed in the Commons the ban would be restored.
  Furthermore.
  The gas would not be available “this Winter” & it would be sold at market rates when it does become available, which may well be little different than current rates.

        Huntly burns Indonesian coal because it is cheaper. Waikato’s coal is far too valuable for burning it is a superior coal for coking ie steel making.
        Huntly has burnt very little coal over its life time the first twenty five years were largely gas fired.
        The four 250 meg units each have four coal mills and each mill was run for one week in rotation, meaning that a mill would run for a week every sixteen weeks.
        The biggest downside of indonesian coal is that is is very”soft”and there for extremly abraisive.

        That is not correct. The only coal in NZ that is suitable for traditional steel smelting is from the West Coast of the South Island.
        
        Indonesian coal must be undercutting Australian coal for Huntly. Indonesia is the world’s biggest coal exporter and Australia is the second biggest.
        
        I doubt that Indonesian coal price, including transport to and within NZ, was the reason for Huntly switching from local coal. More likely it was Green pressure.
        
        However, Sideoiler is right in suggesting lower-quality coal is all that’s needed for generating electricity.
        
        Both Australia and Germany burn lignite by the millions of tons in generation plants. Australia has been winding down its lignite power generation, while Germany is increasing its use because of the European energy squeeze.
        
        The virtually untouched, vast lignite deposits in Southland could generate all of NZ’s electricity for four or five centuries.
        
        On gas, it’s worth noting that Solid Energy was researching use of coal-seam gas from the coalfield around Huntly.
        
        NZ has big reserves of CSG, pretty much the same as other natural gas. The Pike River mine explosions were a horrible display of CSG power.

        MCos Huntly is not running as lakes are full. At the rate ofdecline in lake levels, it is likely to be running again before Xmas.
        I you want to know what it does, go on the MBIE site and look at quarterly generation from it. Often greater than many of the hydros.

        A bit more info for those comments further down the thread.
        Huntly power station has become what is refered to as a “peaker”station, usually only on line at times of high demand and paid a premium because of it.
        Two of the 250 meg units are currently mothballed and when I left there was discussions over moth balling a third unit and caniblising the oldest mothballed unit(ie that unit will never come back)
        Coal from the Rotowaro east mine came to the station via the over land conveyor directly from the mine, this ceased after the explosion at that mine. what remains is now opencast. The mine produces a low-ash, low sulphur thermal coal for local steelmaking, energy generation, and other food and agricultural industries, note these energy generators are the likes of fonterra,various freezing works etc that dont have gas available to them or the complex electrostatic precipitators or particulate seperation equipment required to burn the lesser quality coals.

        Not quite correct Jack The Rotowaro coalfield was first mined in 1915 with open cast mining starting in 1958. The neighbouring Huntly power station was built to be powered on coal or gas and, along with the Glenbrook steel mill, was calibrated for Huntly’s sub-bituminous coal. By the time Huntly was built, the Kupe gas fields of Taranaki had been discovered and Huntly ran on its gas until 2003 when those gas reserves started to decline, prices went up and Hunlty then reverted to coal.

    Gas and oil are priced on the futures market. Pricing is based on perceived future supply and demand, flagging future increases in supply reduces the price. The pricing is somewhat unhooked from actual current supply. The UK signalling increased production will actually reduce current pricing.
    
    For example look at the US. They are actually producing quite a bit of gas. However Biden has limited new permits, which will effect future supply. This has increased pricing.
    
    The whole Ukraine war effect on prices is somewhat weird from a supply and demand perspective. Russia still produces the same amount of oil as before, it just now sells it to different countries. The oil those countries used to buy is now bought by Europe. The main real difference is that it may cost more to ship the gas to Europe then it did to pipe it. The shortages of gas were actually occuring pre war / covid, due to the green movement. Covid lockdowns gas us an artificial break but the return to production has moved the issue to the fore. Western governments are blaming the war for this situation but past policy has a lot to do with it too.

Labour Minister Willie Jackson says there has been a “violent” change in political debate after a woman allegedly attacked Jacinda Ardern’s electorate office.

Jackson has called the incident a “threat of violence” aimed at our Prime Minister.

A 57-year-old woman has been arrested over wilful damage at Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s Mt Albert electorate office earlier on Thursday. Ardern’s office was left with a shattered window and what appears to be a samurai sword was lying nearby.

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister said no one was at the building at the time. She had no further information to provide.

Jackson said on a Facebook post, the woman argues she had “long-standing grievances” with the Prime Minister.

“That doesn’t justify symbolic destruction and smoke bombing her electorate office,” he said.
“There has been a violent change of political debate in this country that has gone from the normal and vigorous disagreement a democracy requires to unhinged conspiracy theories which justify political violence.

“Attacking the PM’s office with a sword and smoke bombing it are not legitimate responses in a democracy, they are the unacceptable actions of a fragment of society who have ended up believing conspiracy theories that are deeply harmful.”

Jackson continued by urging Kiwis to reach out to whānau and friends who may have convinced themselves of some “crazy secret conspiracy” to remind them they are loved.

“This type of irrational vandalism is not a future we want in this country,” Jackson said. “We are New Zealanders, and we are better than this act of vandalism by one person.”

Police hadn’t responded to Newshub about the claims a smoke bomb was let off.

I find the above article interesting as it seems short of fact, but full in perhaps indicating Willie Jackson’s mind-set on “a “violent” change in political debate” – considering Jackson is tasked with shaping the Maori ēlite response on “co-governance” into form to be taken to Cabinet.

  He reckoned that candidates would now probably not do “walkabouts” on the campaign trail because of safety concerns,
  This would particularly impact Ms Ardern who is still, according to him “mobbed” by crowds of adoring fans everywhere she goes.
  Is this correct?

There is a growing world shortage of lithium which is scaring car manufacturers, even Tesla. Imagine purchasing a new EV and after a month the battery malfunctions. The dealer has no spares in stock and you are put on the waiting list. I have a growing feeling EVs have outrun their popularity.

  I’m picking up a new car next week. Didn’t bother looking at ev’s as they’re still way to limited in performance for my active lifestyle. The hybrid model meant no spare tyre FFS. Very happy with my 100% combustion model.
  
  Here’s betting my 100% combustion model depreciates no where near as quickly as any ev bought at the same time.
  
  In fact I’m guessing another owner will still be loving this car in 15 years time, by which point 99% of the evs will have found there way to a scrapyard.

Already we are seeing the UK Government telling EV owners there are going to be limits on charging and that they will have to have separate chargers installed that will attract a higher rate. Governments including ours will put RUCs of some sort on to offset the loss ot fuel tax. Thats why Mrs LMS and I havent purchased an EV and instead a very economical petrol vehicle. Am already wondering about my wisdom in voting for supposed ‘independent’ Phil Mauger as Mayor of Christchurch. Phil has selected as his deputy Pauline Cotter, a long term Labour councilor who has only just managed to squeak in as the representative for the Innes ward (and whose narrow victory is subject to a judicial recount). Ms Cotter lists as her prime focus as a councilor climate change! Not rates control, not improved infrastructure nor even improved social amenities…. climate change.

I’m not impressed, Mr Mauger, not at all.

  Nobody on social media seems to like their mayor, even if they voted for them.
  They don’t care much for other people’s mayors either.
  Wayne Brown is popular now with some people, but it won’t last.
  The reason.
  Whatever else happens it’s rate increases that concentrate people’s mind and they all say they will make the council more efficient and keep rates down, but it never happens.

There was a vaccine safety inquiry in the UK parliament on Monday. Another apology from another overseas politician with a spine and the moral fortitude to admit they were wrong. NZ getting an “honourable” mention.

Although many questions about our Covid response need to be answered, the U.K. is by no means the worst offender. We are not Canada, New Zealand or China – places where Governments think they can exterminate Covid by depriving their population of the most basic civil liberties. However, I am afraid that we still have many questions to ask ourselves, and even much to be ashamed of. I put on record that in hindsight I am particularly ashamed of my vote to dismiss care workers who did not want to receive the vaccine. I very much hope that the 40,000 care workers who lost their jobs can be reinstated, and indeed compensated.

And if that is not bad enough the price is down ~72% from its peak in January of this year (US$353 – US$96). US$1000 invested in January is now worth US$280.

Zuckerberg’s fortune has declined by billions of dollars in that time. Will he be able to stay on as the CEO of the Company? Probably, he still has the controlling vote. But who knows?

Looks like everyone is hating on the Metaverse.

We have been astounded to have to inform her doctors as to what we are discovering, as they really have little, or no idea about the more serious adverse affects of the jab and also whom they should not be jabbing under any circumstances.     Extremely few doctors actually keep up to date with research. Most are not really capable of science. For the most part they are “technicians”. ie. they have been trained to follow a procedure of diagnosis and applying a prescribed action. ie. they do exactly what they are told to do.
    
    There are some exceptions: both those who do heaps of ongoing research, and those who are capable of conducting science, but, unfortunately, they are few.

They are almost entirely reliant on what the Medsafe website tells them and that certainly does not keep them abreast of the now, 2000-odd peer reviewed papers worldwide, that traverse the subject matter of the adverse side affects of the jab. Furthermore, most GP’s work from dawn to dusk, so where on earth are they going to find the time to keep themselves abreast of overseas research? The answer is, they’re not. In essence, they simply do as they are told by the NZMC. Life is simpler that way for them.

      What are you talking about? I watched it land on flight radar. It was on the ice for about an hour and a half and now it’s on its way back with its VIP passenger.
      But where’s the Hercules? Maybe the 757 delivered some mechanics to fix it.

What gives with the case of Nelson aircraft engineer Lawrence McCann who jumped on the wing of a Cessna plane while its propellers were spinning, ripped open the hatch, and punched the pilot several times while calling him a “fucking moron” and a “cunt”?

The Herald reports the pilot was unable to shut down the engines as he tried to block the blows to his head. His feet then came off the brake pedals, and he was not in control of the aircraft.

In the Nelson District Court McCann was fined $2000 and the judge refused to discharge him without conviction.

The charge was brought by the Civil Aviation Authority.

In June last year the police, rather than prosecute McCann, had referred the attack to an “iwi community panel” meeting, which led to McCann agreeing to undertake an anger management course.

Are the police are able to divert court prosecution on race grounds when the charge is serious enough for another Government department to step in later and bring a charge?

  Seemed to me he only had to shut the doors to the hangar , to eliminate the risk of the plane his guys were working on , coming off the jacks from prop wash .
  Seemed the other pilot cdve done better after being made aware of situation .
  Punching the shit out of him on the wing of a running plane is a touch too far and reckless . Better on the tarmac . Better to talk it through . Better to realise the world doesn’t revolve around him and his work n put plane in a bigger hanger so can close doors or create an exclusion zone Outside if none available . Or stop work and do it when airport quiet .

Personally, I don’t have a problem with this either.
It’s like my partner says…..if a government department ever queries an invoice because it looks excessive, you can always put a part credit thru later.
Rarely do you get a chance to increase it after the event.
Best just go in hard to begin with. Especially if it’s someone else’s money 😀

I’m a simple man.
Can someone please explain why our legal system has allowed Michelle Boag’s name to be dragged through the mud like this ?
Even the guilty guy has name suppression, but Boag, who seems to have had nothing to do with the case, is smeared.
I’m not a big fan of hers, but it seems our legal system has become highly politicised lately. Another example being the bizarre ‘not guilty’ verdict for NZ First ‘donation’.
