Mr Hipkins – one of his first interviews in the new role this morning. Not a great start IMO. He talked very fast but saying little or nothing substantive.

That is actually fair enough at this early stage but he is not coming across as anything like strong and decisive. Lots of ‘ums’ and ‘you knows’ (which we don’t). He did give a hint though when he said ‘a year is a long time in economic management’. OK then.

Interview was after 7 am news on NewstalkZB.

  Timely, that Milky raises Taiwan’s defence in his daily meditation.
  
  Any invasion of Taiwan will be a helluva headache for our China-friendly politicians.
  
  The cost to America of any attempt by China to invade Taiwan will be huge, according to war-games simulation analysis by a Washington think tank, the Centre for Strategic and International Studies.
  
  The Wall Street Journal reports analysts played a Taiwan-invasion war game 24 times, and most times American intervention repelled the invaders.
  
  However, the simulations suggest America in three weeks would suffer half as many casualties as it did in 30 years of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US Navy would lose dozens of ships, including two aircraft carriers.
  
  The simulations suggest that Taiwan needs to ramp up its military conscription and preparedness, and America needs to catch up on supply of arms ordered by Taiwan. It also suggests successful fighting off an invasion relies on American use of Japanese bases.

    I suspect this is why the USA is reluctant to get too drawn in to the Ukraine conflict.
    
    If they got to drawn in they would not be able to apply full pressure to any Chinese move in Taiwan.
    
    China is circling like a vulture, waiting for a weak spot to become apparent.

    Unless we wake up where NZ stands would be irrelevant. We have no reliable military capability. We cannot guarantee a frigate and the P8s are not yet in service. We have no suitable army, a very good but unusable SAS and other than that a one company gendarmerie. I see Australia announced this morning a billion dollar mine purchase, on top of all sorts of other things. NB National’s Defence Spokesman is unranked ie not on front bench.

      I was a Tax-Free Vulture (Territorial Force of Volunteers) back in the day, and our NZ training was appropriately demanding and has stood me in good stead over years in not particularly pleasant places overseas, especially but not only after man-made and natural disasters.
      
      From what I hear from people still nervous in the service (that’s kind of an in-joke but not really) we are basically toothless these days. We have extremely well trained and active small groups as good as anywhere in the world; we have almost 0 logistics and other support capability to deliver them and keep them supplied and at the tip of the spear.
      
      Just one more thing to thank Helen 1 for, not at all. The CCP could invade and take over the whole of New Zealand simply by turning up on a container ship and marching into Auckland. Especially if Helen 2 and Ardern and Chippie get what they want = to disarm ordinary Kiwis. This may well be what they intend, but of course, we won’t know until it’s too late

      How much do you actually know about the NZDF?
      They would be able to deploy mounted (LAV3) Battalion Group. With artillery (105 mm) and Javelin anti tank weapons. Plus helicopter transport. The NZ Army and NZDF still has essentially the same deployment capability as it had for the deployment of the Battalion Group to East Timor, which was rotated three times.
      It is true that right at this moment the P8’s are not operational. But they will be within a couple of months. It is the reason why the P3 is being retired early. Because the transition will be quite quickly made.
      The RNZHN could now deploy a frigate, plus tanker support. It is true that for the last couple of years the frigates were not available, but the midlife upgrades of the two frigates is now complete.
      It is certainly true that there are recruitment and retention challenges. But it is quite incorrect to suggest that the NZDF is no more than a one company gendarmerie force. That definition would better fit the French forces deployed in the South Pacific.

        Besides, I have read that before covid, there were some 400,000 Taiwanese living and working in mainland China, if ordinary Taiwanese hate China so much, why would so many of them working and living there?
        
        Most politicians in the US and some in Taiwan on the other hand no doubt hate China for malicious reasons.

    The US is eager for a war, but I think the Chinese govt is patient and will wait, unless the Taiwanese govt is stupid enough to declare independence.
    
    Mind you, both PRC and ROC consider each other part of China and the UN officially recognises PRC is the one China, so technically we couldn’t call any PRC military operations on the Taiwan island an invasion, as you can’t invade your own territory.
    
    Btw, technically the Chinese civil war has not ended yet.

    I note in passing that I’m fortunate to be married to Wellington royalty whose ancestors came out on the Aurora and the first child born in Wellington from parents off the ship.
    
    Covering all bases, others of her ancestors got to Christchurch on a ship that came before the so called “First four ships”.
    
    She however fell on hard times – bits of my lineage seem to include escapees from Australian arranged accommodation.
    
    It’s what makes NZ such an egalitarian society.

    The term ‘ally’ need not be restricted to any formal diplomatic relationship. The United States does not have diplomatic relations with Taiwan either, yet I’d be comfortable describing that relationship as an alliance.

    Yes, PM elect Hipkins has already refused to detail his discussions with the Maori caucus, so what does that tell you?
    
    Clearly a back room deal was struck in return for Mahuta not standing in opposition and for the Maori caucus to cancel Saturday’s meeting, and to not raise a whisper about being bypassed for DPM. (Surely Hipkins saying Sepuloni being the best person for the job is racist against all Maori MPs!).
    
    And that deal would be… “back me for PM, lay low over all controversial race-based policies for nine months so I can get Labour over the line in October, and once Labour is back in charge go for your lives with your portfolio’s and race-based policies”.
    
    Hardly rocket science.

New PM can’t explain the ToW yet has been in the co-governance Cabinet for 5 years. Perhaps if he’d said “Whatever Nanaia says it is” it’d be more plausible. NZ needs a one page explanation of the Treaty and its principles, if any, drafted by ACT and then entrenched by referendum. Then we’ll all understand it, we can stop wasting money on an industry and Maoris can get on with being New Zealanders – which is what the Treaty promised in 1840.

  At a time when there were Maori who had at least heard elders views on the effects at the time.

  Maorification will be ok if its a better system than NZ has currently. But its not a better system it cant compete against NZ’s euro centric system. Not at the moment at least.
  
  Seems to somewhat justified in the claim its better for Maori but forced upon general population without any merit. Doesnt appear to be better for Maori.
  
  How will learning “Maori science” about rocks having their own life force help NZ compete in the international market place in say electronics?

    I could see a benefit if we take some of it to the logical end. Maori health for example. All those Maori currently undergoing white mans treatments for heart conditions and cancer could be shipped out of the white mans hospitals to the nearest Maori witch doctor. I am happy they get their fair share of the health budget provided no Maori make ANY call on our pakeha health services ever again.

    Many people have already drawn they conclusions but maybe we should hear from both parties what it means. My view from observing them is :
    
    ACT: Everyone is equal under the law, no one has any more rights than anyone else. Leaders are elected, with every citizen having a single vote of equal value to everyone else.
    
    Maori Party: Maori, as the first (a lie, but nonetheless) people to arrive on boats have privileges above everyone else who came after. Those other people don’t deserve to own property here because its been stolen, even though that’s how we did things anyway before they arrived. We get preferential access to any resources, both ancient and modern, even if we didn’t know about them beforehand.
    Leaders will be appointed by a vote among “our people”. To be clear, “our people” isn’t anyone non Maori.

The media fawning over the selection of Hipkins and Sepuloni as Labour’s new leaders conveniently forget both were part of Arderns cartel, with Hipkins being in the inner sanctum so party to all the policies he now says are under review.
For Hipkins to request his family is off limits cries hypocrisy, as he had no trouble defaming Charlotte Bellis, maligning the 2 woman who reportedly caused the Northland shut down only to find it was a government cock-up (still hasn’t apologised), and brought Bill English’s family into a parliamentary debate (under privilege), and had to return to the house to withdraw and apologise – Bloody hypocrite.
The release (Kiwiblog yesterday) of the appalling social welfare stats showing significant increase in the number of people receiving benefits since 2017 across most demographics, has happy been overlooked by the MSM as the treat Sepuloni as some second coming.
I depair.

      What did he learn in University that equipped him for the Natural Gas sector? He studied Politics and Criminology at University. That position would have been a ‘gimme’ until they found him a job in Politics.

      As for being a Policy Wonk in the Industry Training Federation, you have to have Union Credentials (or know folks who know folks) to get that kind of job.

Strangely, I haven’t seen these welfare figures being reported by the media. Maybe someone could ask the new deputy PM about them. At least Parliament will have something to discuss when MPs eventually return from their long break.

Recipients of the job seeker benefit are, on average, on that benefit continuously for more than 8 years. At least one person has been on a job seeker benefit continuously for more than 45 years! I imagine they’ll be moving on to Super in the near future. Potentially their whole life will have been spent in receipt of a benefit. I’d be astonished if they’re the only person in this position.

There are currently 15,450 people who have been on a benefit continuously for 10 years or more. The idea, promoted by those on the Left, that welfare is temporary and that everyone wants to work doesn’t seem to be reality. Some 4,600 people who are ready for work have been on a job seeker benefit for 10 years or more. If they’re ready for work, and given that we apparently have a hot labour market, why haven’t they found work?

  It’s worth noting that the job seeker benefit was introduced in 2013…anyone on a benefit continuously for 10 years or more won’t have been receiving a job seeker benefit for the duration of their non-work. However, previously they may have been in receipt of an unemployment benefit.

Snuck through during the Christmas period. NZ announced the 4th vaccine death in late December a week before Xmas. It was confirmed by the medsafe board in November and the death had happened in March??!?!

Apparently the medsafe board didn’t have the full information to make a decision earlier. What information were they missing and why didn’t they have it. Why did it take 9 months for them to identify myocarditis a known risk factor. What tests take 9 months.

Shrug. Who knows. Not for our media to go asking too many questions.

Well who was it and how old were they? Gender? What were the circumstances of the death? How many vaccines had they had? How long was it after the vaccine?

Nope you don’t need to know that either.

“Te Whatu Ora and the Board will not be commenting further on any details about this case and ask that the whānau’s privacy is respected during this difficult time.”

But why not. Dont’ we have a right to know. Even if they don’t give a name. Isn’t the safety report supposed to be our safety system. Other deaths are disclosed in full. Drownings. The first covid death. We know names, their medical history and we celebrate their life in the paper. Why is covid deaths and vaccine deaths a secret.

How can we make informed decisions, politically or medically if information is withheld.

And finally if this vaccine death happened in March and is only being disclosed now. How many other deaths are there that we don’t know about.

And one last thought, the lawyer who posted the memo of the science advice on the brash hide website. The advice went to cabinet that kids should only get one vaccine , shouldn’t be mandated and it caused myocarditis. Is that just his personal enquiry or is it part of a legal case?

Still waiting to hear results of the young NZ lady in the UK who died on the tanning bed also.

  It is completely and utterly fascinating how we can have scientists tell us what a mummy in an Egyptian tomb died of 10,000 years ago, but there is absolutely no way they can tell us what caused the 17-21% increase in deaths during the first post-vaccination year in western democracies who had a high vaccination uptake.         Speaking of which I only found out last year while looking through old newspaper archives my uncle, who has the same name as me, was convicted of car conversion.
        I was also told he pinched money from his place of employment. Although nobody in the family talks of these things.
        Later again he gave his life in defence of his country during WWII, which wiped the slate clean a hundred times over and is why I proudly carry his name forward.
        Sometimes Americans, in particular, say thank you for his service. Why thank me? I didn’t do anything.

  2). Wood has horrendous favorability ratings outside of the converted and is struggling in his portfolios.
  3). Woods ditto and visually sends the wrong message.
  4). Allan apparently has some rather large skeletons in her closet that would have come out.
  5). Kelvin, Willly and Mahutacorp would by themselves create a 5% dip in support.
  6). Parker, Nash(nil) and Little didn’t want it.

  NZ govts have at least since the war tried to have diverse representation in the PM & Deputy PM roles. If the PM came from Auckland then the Deputy likely came from the South Is. Urban vs rural electorates likewise.
  
  The problem now is that intersectionalism makes it difficult for all ‘communities’ to be represented, hence the rise of individuals who tick multiple boxes. In the old days, competency was a given, but that’s had to take second place behind diversity.

    I find it fascinating how people think that diversity is somehow going to improve wherever that diversity is being implemented. Over the course of years abroad, I have worked in some highly diversified countries, for example, Papua New Guinea, and Liberia, and even a spell in Madagascar. I can’t speak for any other area of human endeavour, other than as an occasional attempting-user of diverse airlines, taxis, hotels and restaurants in said locations; but I do absolutely advise you: whatever you can do to avoid being the recipient of highly-diversified medical and surgical services, just go out and do it.

I’m still wondering who is going to be the first journalist to ask Hipkins about his role in removing very important health information regarding the danger of vaccinations in young people in particular.

It was published on the bassetbrashandhide blog site.
Here is one example of the malfeasance at play. If you haven’t read both parts of this post, do so.

I will refer to the minutes of relevant Cabinet and committee meetings which are publicly available. Those documents demonstrate that key recommendations made by the government’s technical experts were not implemented in relation to:

increasing the dose interval between the first and second dose from three weeks to at least eight weeks for the under 30s in order to reduce the risk of myocarditis; and permitting the under 18s to have only one dose for the purpose of workplace mandates.

In addition, there is clear evidence in the official documents that it was agreed that references to increasing dosing intervals as a method of potentially providing some protection against myocarditis should be removed from public communications.

Why would you remove this evidence from public communications? For political reasons. Hipkins was the Covid Minister at the time. It is beyond belief that he wasn’t aware of it. If by any chance he wasn’t then HE should be ensuring the person responsible is not only fired, but are arrested and charged.
This information has been available for almost a week. I find it unbelievable that it hasn’t been discussed in the mainstream media. This is not “conspiracy theory”, this is information from government documents.

Where are the journalists? Where is Michael Baker? Suzy Wiles? What say you “experts”?

    It’s preposterous. It was obvious from early on, to anyone who cared to look, that Covid was a textbook respiratory virus and that lockdowns would change nothing long-term about its trajectory. We all knew from all history that muscling people, closing schools and business, and introducing travel restrictions and quarantines would impose major damage on society, markets, and public health.
    
    There really is no excuse.
    
    The lesson I’ve taken away is that the quarantine power is far more dangerous than even I imagined. I’ve also been late to observe the astonishing power of Big Pharma to manipulate policy for its own ends. When I wrote the following, I did not even imagine that there would come a time in the near future when this industry would claim that we could vaccinate our way out of this pandemic. It was too absurd a scenario back then even to contemplate. And of course I never imagined that the lockdowns would last two years and more in many places. Sheer madness.

The company behind a proposed waste incinerator plant has labelled a second returning of its consents an abuse of power.

The latest rejection by Waimate District Council and Canterbury Regional Council is due to no cultural impact assessment/s. The company says not required by law at this stage in the application process.

An objection to the decision is to be lodged. If the councils have in fact acted unlawfully and therefore delayed the progress of the application the rules around refund of fees should kick in. Suspicion has to be it’s political.

    Littletramp – Perhaps with a fuller understanding of the Treaty, Hipkins might ask what “co-governance” has to do with pipe-laying and drains in repairing the nations water infrastructure for the benefit of all New Zealanders, but in particular those on “boil your water” notices now.
    
    Some provisions of “3 Waters” were reversed so they weren’t Entrenched in law, but “co-governance” has been actually entrenched (with a little “e”) in the whole of “3 Waters”
    What part did Hipkins ingnorance, not just of Article 3 of the Treaty, but of what he says people in general have of ‘co-governance” and how does that apply to his own colleagues passing law?

If journalism in New Zealand was of the standard it was back perhaps in the 70s, 80s, would it have been picked up that in the the US Supreme Court rejection of abortion as a Constitutional right, there were two sides to it –
■ the subject of abortion, and
■ the fact that wasn’t in the Constitution.

New Zealand “journalists” used the first, abortion, to go hit Luxon over his head about his Christian views, until he said the Party had other views, and anycase the matter was now law and safe from any interference he knew of.

No journalist touched the second aspect – what the Constitution actually said a or what it didn’t – as in the case of abortion – and what they applied to here: what the Treaty says and what it does not, or what has been added to it since it was actually written.
That may be bit of an abortion.
Or as now revealed, what our politicians – like Ardern and Hipkins – making laws in relation to the Treaty actually know of what is in it, as written.

Hipkins starting with a lie. The transition from Ardern to hi m the smoothest change of leadership he has ever seen in any party. Wasn’t he alive when Key handed over to English? That was also smooth but didn’t last long. Let’s hope the same applies to Hipkins who is cut from exactly the same cloth as Ardern and Robertson whatever the spin tries to delude us with.

  I don’t want him or his lot anywhere near the Treasury Benches but one would hope he had the best interests of the country at heart and not wish to drag out more of Labour’s dirty laundry in public by sticking in a job he knows he will lose in say nine months time.

You are a female ‘journalist’ for one of the NZ media sites, or a female academic, or merely a female member of NZ’s political commentariat.

You have been left-wing since forever, you became massively invested in Ardern once she became anointed by Labour and when she became PM you became joyous and genuinely greatly hopeful for NZ’s future.

Ever since, on social media and in the news media you have supported her resolutely. You talked up her and her government repeatedly while attacking or mocking her opponents in equal measure. You experienced waves of blissful admiration and ecstasy when you saw Ardern produce what you believed were great speeches, and beamed with pride when she hugged survivors of the CHC massacre, comforted those associated with White Island and read her speeches at the Covid dailies.

Now, with Labour having crashed in the polls, Ardern’s personal popularity plummeting, house prices 50% more than when she came in, record homelessness, quite massive social unrest with Labour’s racially discriminatory laws and policies, a broken labour market affecting our medical sector particularly and with resultant delays in surgeries etc, alongside appalling educational outcomes, alarming levels of truancy and then there is the explosion in street crime that the government first ignored and then latterly decided to try to tackle because they were getting hammered in the press.

On hearing that Ardern is resigning, what will you now do?

1. Write long pieces detailing the issues above, the large and increasing gap between Labour’s rhetoric and results actually achieved and the way New Zealanders have been terribly let down by a PM who once we had such belief in.

2. Blame her resignation on New Zealander’s hatefulness and misogyny because you are full of conflicting thoughts and feelings and are just lashing out, looking for someone to blame for this disaster of losing your political hero.

It was very obvious several months ago when Ardern was largely AWOL, basking in the adoration of overseas audiences who still saw the princess in new clothes, that she was on her way out, withering under the downwards shift in support and the kind of criticism that would be clinically impossible for her narcissistic personality to withstand. Her withdrawal from critical sessions with Hosking was an early sign that she would cave as soon as Labour’s fortunes took a significant turn for the worse.

Can I suggest that the ‘sense of entitlement’ is a throwback to hunter/gatherer tribalism, which takes from the land rather than adding value, avoiding the stresses and strains associated with individual responsibility and initiative, as the tribe directs and provides.

Which is cold comfort for Arts on Tour supporters, but on another level reassuring: Creative NZ recently granted Kamali $73,000 towards the Ulu Cavu Wig Tour of New Zealand.

They haven’t been ‘laser focussed’ on the economy.

They haven’t been focussed on ‘bread and butter’ issues.

That they haven’t delivered improvement in people’s lives, instead have ‘adhered to a ‘progressive’ March of history view of the world’.

That they haven’t focussed enough on hard-working wage-earning families.

  I’m informed by a friend that I should feel sorry for Hipkins because he was the one holding the parcel when the music stopped.
  Quite frankly, I don’t feel sorry in the least.
  They tried placing ‘Dumb and Dumber’ in charge when Cindy grabbed the parcel and that turned out to be a disaster. Hipkins can huff and puff with the assistance of a compliant MSM, but the writing’s on the wall IMO. Labour self-destructed and left my country in a pile of shit that will take aeons to put right. I have noticed a few journalists are already switching their support to Chris Hipkins and calling Jacinda Ardern polarizing or divisive. The tone is that Labour have had problems but all caused by Jacinda. It seems the ruthless party machine moves fast.

Many one-dimensional comments as always mostly flavoured by being unable to accept Jacinda has gone and fixations that Hipkins is somehow going to need to either defend her or be critical of her. He smoothly moved past that and stole Luxon’s thunder instead over the cost of living, inflation, and interest rates as being what he will target – exactly what most people wanted to hear.
Effectively he immediately put Luxon in 2nd place on his own issues leaving him to grasp at mid-air.
Keep up folks and beating drums about Covid as the low lander does above requires some 82% of the NZ population to question their own decisions – all round dumb stuff. But keep it up.

    I won’t be an unhappy camper come October with some of the news releases this arvo. The apparent smallest of which might be dropping speed limit intentions which to me sends a big message about where money is being wasted on “divine” plans, that don’t make sense in these times, if ever. We are finding that is where Hipklins is judging the overall situation from.
    I had no idea who the Mayoral candidate Leo Malloy was about until watching an apparent satirical interview with him where he spoke in a language I get. Got hints of that yesterday from Hipkins and today it’s the full Monty. It isn’t all about Grey Lynn and cycle lanes but about West and South Auckland.
    The worry for the Nat’s is that Luxon didn’t get it or see it unfolding. Like I said effectively Luxon can’t think on his feet or predict a wind change. These debates promise better outcomes for voters.

    They will have their say but what was heard today and yesterday came from Hipkins not the leader of the opposition who either wrongly judged the new PM’s direction or didn’t have the ability to predict it. If that’s not being 2nd I don’t know what is. Someone commented about the ransom held by certain sections of Labour’s caucus but it now might sink in that it’s a reset and appreciate your trophies or its bye-bye.
    We’ll see how he goes but Hipkins is off to a good start.

Well it sounded to me like Hipkins proposes to tax us into prosperity. Some of us apparently don’t pay our fair share. I’m sure his defi itinerary of fair is different to mine. It won’t work. Productive people will either emigrate or stop producing.

An example of how Labour’s bought media is spinning the political truth.

At the Red Radio site,these words (sorry Kiwiblog’s blockquote function isn’t working):

“But he [Hipkins] hinted those on the lowest incomes wouldn’t be a target for reining in inflation, which – as he noted with the phrase “inflation pandemic” – is a global problem.”

“Noted” implies that it’s an accepted fact that inflation is a global problem, and by implication, NZ inflation is just part of a global phenomenon.

No, it bloody well is not. NZ inflation springs from the insane printing of billions and billions of dollars by Labour geniuses Robertson and Orr through their bond programme to juice up the economy during the Covid epidemic.

Red Radio provides in evidence of its assertion, an article from a blog site comparing inflation in various countries.

The incidence in each of the countries will have various causes, but we know the reason for New Zealand’s inflation: Robertson and Orr’s political equivalent of a long, raging, piss-up across Treasury and the Reserve Bank.

Watch or listen to the bought-off media and the State media over the run-up to the election. They will lie endlessly, Goebbels style, that inflation in New Zealand (“Aotearoa” will be played down for the rest of the year) is merely a world phenomenon.

Yesterday a van crashed in Thailand and of the twelve people eleven died.
Pro tip
Avoid traveling by van.
They crash on a regular basis due to speed, driver falling asleep, driver drunk, driver on drugs, driver run out of drugs, tailgating at 120kpm, driver watching TV and texting while drunk and sleepy.
I caught one once. They kept selling tickets and the driver pulled out folding camp seats to squash people into the gaps.

  The survivor didn’t even have to go to hospital from what I understand.
  Unbelievably he gave a lengthy TV interview for the news and looked just fine.
  He said the van wasn’t speeding. It may have caught fire from the LPG fuel and crashed in a ditch. He was in the middle of van. Everyone else was incinerated.

Census collectors to carry panic alarms amid safety fears over anti-government backlash
Census collectors visiting homes across New Zealand will be carrying panic alarms as a safety measure against a post-Covid rise in anti-government feeling.

The alarms can alert security teams should any of the more than 3000 census collectors, who are currently being hired to work the eight weeks from the end of January through to April, feel threatened while door knocking.

Professor Paul Spoonley, chair of the Centre of Research Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, said trust in government had been falling among a segment of society since the start of the Covid pandemic.

Protestors last February spent three weeks occupying Parliament’s lawn as they complained about Covid vaccine mandates and lockdowns. The protest ended on March 2 as some hurled bricks and other objects at riot police.

Now some groups are planning one-year anniversary events this March to commemorate the protests – a time when census collectors will also be on the streets door knocking.

An appeal to anyone reading this.

No doubt whatsoever in the coming days we’ll hear all sorts of reasons and excuses offered as to why this Labour Government has performed so woefully in improving the lives of New Zealanders and why we should cut Ardern some slack.

We’ll hear all about Covid, ‘global inflation’, the profiteering banks, supermarkets or energy companies, that goddamned Putin etc etc.

Anything to divert our attention from Labour’s miserable performance and policies which inevitably deliver them results opposite to those intended.

May I please remind you that during Key’s terms he inherited the management of the Global Financial Crisis, the Christchurch earthquakes and myriad other external and internal shocks and bumps in the road.

And what was Labour’s response? How much slack did they cut Key and Bill English? Did they blunt their criticism of them with the provisos of “Oh but let’s not forget he had the GFC to deal with” or “we can’t be too harsh, he had the unexpected CHC rebuild to manage…”

No they didn’t.

What did we actually get?

“Nine years of neglect!” and delivered with angry red faces, pursed and spittle-flecked lips and heaping helpings of derision and scorn.

So now all I ask of New Zealanders is to cut Labour exactly the same amount of slack they chose to give Key, English and team.

None.

The Duke of York is to make a legal bid to overturn the multi-million-pound settlement he struck with his sexual abuse accuser, it has been claimed.

Prince Andrew is said to have consulted lawyers after Virginia Giuffre dropped a separate sexual abuse claim against US lawyer Alan Dershowitz, admitting that she “may have made a mistake” in claiming he had abused her as a teenager.

Hipkins declined to comment about whether Three Waters reforms would be axed.

Put to him by the Newstalk ZB host the policy needed to go, Hipkins replied “we’re not going to turn off people’s taps”, but declined to go into specifics on any possible changes.

“The issue we’ve got here is we’ve got a $130-$180 billon of investment required in the next 30 years in our water infrastructure across the country. If we don’t do any reform at all we’re talking potentially thousands of dollars a year extra on peoples’ rates.”

“We need to make sure…when people turn the taps on they can actually get healthy drinking water out of them and that costs money.”

  They really should call them out on this disinformation that they are doing this to save ratepayers money. If that happens it will be at the expense of taxpayers – mostly the same group.
  They make out 5 waters is some sort of free lunch where we get the $130-180 billion upgrade for free.
  And BTW – don’t accept Mahuta rambling on about “economies of scale”. Details please.

  we’ve got a $130-$180 billon of investment required in the next 30 years in our water infrastructure across the country. If we don’t do any reform at all we’re talking potentially thousands of dollars a year extra on peoples’ rates.

Don’t you love our media, if National was changing leaders they are portrayed as a party in strife. Labour change leaders and they are acting like it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Well as much as they want, you can change the jockey, but it’s still the same old dead horse they are flogging.

During the Xmas hols, one of the girls from tennis and her hubby were conned into a private tour to see Taup0’s ‘pre-European’ Rock Carvings.
Paid about 6 hundy for the trip with a Maori guy who was working at the motel they were staying in. Completely shocked when I told her they were only thirty-years old. LOL!!

Looks like the same scam going on in Egypt if you ask me….

There’re some rock drawings near Kurow in Waitaki Valley. Apparently 600-900 years old. Worth seeing?
Don’t know, I wasn’t impressed, but as they say De gustibus est non disputandum…

Since when has 5 Waters ever been about that? Fricken politicians give me the shits. He knows _exsctly_ why people don’t like 5 Waters, but makes a point of telling us that it’s about something else.
