    Actually looks like Grant Robertson is also in Labour’s Witless protection scheme – has anyone heard from or seen him in the last week or so?
    
    I haven’t heard anything out of Robertson since the RBNZ lifted interest rates 50 basis points a couple of weeks ago (instead of the 25 that the pundits were predicting), which astonishingly saw the MSM wake up and they started doing stories on how this will negatively impact NZers.
    
    Recall Robertson’s gibberish response at the time was to play it down by claiming “the banks have already factored in such increases and won’t raise their home loan rates” …. trouble is a few days later ANZ did and another bank did so last week.
    
    Now with the IMF(?) stating NZ’s inflation rate will stay higher and longer compared to most other countries – Robbo seems to have disappeared!
    
    Maybe I have missed something but I seem to think he has avoided being questioned on all these “disastrous” bad news stories … which all point back to his (lack of) economic “management” by continuing to spend $billions fueling the Labour Party inflation bonfire that is incinerating NZers?

        It’s a fair question, because the figures I’ve seen ages ago show more male teachers are sexually abusing students than woman. So to ask for the relevant stats is fair, unless it’s Mike asking of course, then people pile on him.

      It seems the victims of male teachers generally did not consent. For female teachers (those involved seem to be in the early 20’s) and male students (often over 18) there is little age difference and the student consented (but may have regretted it later). So no crime is committed, but the Teachers Council will regard it as unacceptable conduct on part of the teacher and the teacher will be struck off. These cases are generally publicised. In UK such conduct was made a crime in recent times where the adult is considered to be in a situation of power and authority such as being a school teacher, youth leader etc. NZ should consider similar legislation.

        Yes, it’s still an abuse of power and the teacher should know better and not behave this way. But I think if the teacher is a female 26 yo, and the student is male 17 yo, it is qualitatively different to if the sexes were reversed.

      It was male teachers 10-20 years ago because most of those did involve coercion and manipulation, and the female usually ended up in a pretty bad place.
      
      It wasn’t female teachers 10-20 years ago not because it didn’t happen, but because it was perceived as “scoring”. I struggle to think of a situation where the male student would be left broken.
      
      It is female teachers now, not because male students are being harmed, but because the culture wars have meant that anyone deemed to be in a position of authority is automatically an offender.
      
      But that’s just my take on it, I have no research to back it up. Good thing we’re on the GD thread!

      Let’s be fair, if I was a 17 school boy and my 25 year old blonde teacher was texting me late at night and inviting me round, it wouldn’t be something I would report as a crime, it would more likely be defined a miracle

      Age of consent in the USA only depends on how much money is being sort, so states ages of consent can change where applicable.

  Nothing else.

Thought might be useful and a heads up to mention a family experience. Young family member sold his car via FB. Within an hour an angry service station staffer accused him of a driveoff. Fortunately he had changed the ownership online as soon as the deal was done, and that was the end of that. Smart kid.

I wonder what if any reply I will get from my formal complaint to the Herald.

I am to some extent wasting my time writing to a bought and paid-for corrupt media.
We have a criminal shown on video committing his crime getting what is probably a paid position writing for the Herald which contributed to the violence against women. The MSM and some evil left-wing politicians have caused this violence against women that could have ended in fatalities.

The Herald will not allow letters that go against this atrocity where the corrupt police did not protect the woman even when asked. I am not referring to the front-line police but the senior police who gave the orders.

The Herald calls Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull an anti-trans campaigner when in fact she is a women’s rights. She argues that women should not have to compete against biological men in sports. She campaigns for woman-only spaces for women such as toilets and changing rooms.

What is the Herald’s position on the women’s demands?
Will the Herald allow me or some woman to have an article of equal length as Shaneel Lal’s?

  Likewise the poem. It’s inciting violence against particular demographic groups, which should be illegal regardless of which group its aimed at.

NZ Justice system is so broken we are now telling cops to second guess if they should arrest someone now. Is there anything Labour hasn’t completely destroyed in 5 years? Also is it not time to completely restructure the judiciary? If the judges spent more time actually in court and not calling for
cultural reports they maybe able to get through more sentencing.

      Inside knowledge from some years ago. Basically, the court system and government in general is dominated by lawyers. As such, there is no problem that can’t be addressed by getting more lawyers involved. In the justice system, the best lawyers are judges, or want to be judges (unless they prefer loads of money), so the answer to any courts problem is appoint more judges. Sadly, this means the other parts of the system, facilities and non-lawyer personnel are routinely neglected.

  “Aotearoa” has rapidly become a corporate and government brand name. I used to think it was quite a nice sounding word when it was associated with “land of the long white cloud”. But now we are five years into a concerted effort by government to make it the name of the country, with the whole push being strongly linked to their politically motivated revisionist perspective on history. The push has been embraced by the uncritical and pliant arts graduates working in media and the non-productive departments of big corporates.
  
  You only ever hear “Aotearoa” said or written in a contrived way, where the user is trying to make money, make a political point, or consciously projecting their political correctness to gain some apparent social advantage. It is so heavily used by the System that it feels like it doesn’t really belong to the Māori language anymore, it is a word that has so much more connotation connected with it in English.

With so many words and terms, such as ‘limp wristed’, poofter, pansy, faggot, dyke and ‘pillow biter’ being ‘reclaimed’ by the purely gay subset of the Rainbow community, will more letters need to be added to LGBTQI ?

(Out of interest, I know an older middle-aged gay gentleman who happens to have serious issues with the term ‘queer’, but because it’s been officially ‘reclaimed’ by his overall community, he’s all good with it now).

        There’s only one God (although with many names in the many religions) also known as the ultimate reality or the Absolute as opposed to the contingent, or the Real as opposed to the illusory. To ask questions like “when and where” with regard to the Absolute is completely meaningless and is to make a category mistake. If you are referring to the temporal world, then you’ll find it in the Bible, but this is just a record of the precept, and is quite distinct from the precept in itself.
        
        The moral law is written on our hearts (our conscience, you could say), the only distinction is whether or not people admit it to themselves. A murderer can murder, but he also knows its wrong. Self-deception is more common than we like to admit. A friend took the Northern Explorer the other day. He was surprised that it was full. Plenty of tourists, but plenty of locals too – not all of them retired.

At $200+ per seat, presumably it’s paying its way – marginal costs, anyway. Certainly, it was cheaper than the plane. Any Akld-Wgtn flight not booked a couple of weeks out is just horrendously priced at present.

    We took that ride a year or so back.
    It has some drawbacks. The Auckland terminal is poorly located and the run down to Hamilton is dull, but after that the trip is very pleasant.
    However it’s a long day.
    
    I saw a clip of the Flying Scotsman the other day, screaming through some little station with smoke everywhere and whistle blowing.
    Damn!
    That would be the thrill of a lifetime to ride on!

      I did the Flying Scotsman in 1976. It was brilliant. Also opened my eyes to the reality of England when you went through places like Newcastle – row upon row of terrace housing all covered in coal dust.
      Makes you understand why poms want to come to NZ for a house with a garden.

This Labour Government has finally achieved a plus with all the policies they have promised .
They have just put the last nail in the Justice and Prison systems by telling Frontline Police to ‘consider necessity’ of bail arrests as NZ’s largest Prison nears capacity.
How’s this making New Zealand safe and after the leniency of the punishment Ram Raider have received this Government have finally achieved the record of fucking Law and order to achieve a first goal in the six years they will have been in power.

Two people have been seriously injured after a stabbing at a south Auckland Burger King on Sunday.

Police say they were called at around 3:10pm after a report two people were injured at the premises on Great South Road in Takanini.

It’s understood both of the victims are Burger King employees.

  The accused was quickly arrested but will probably get bail because the prisons are nearly full up. Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio would not have let that be a problem – he would quickly establish a tent prison camp. Can anyone imagine Labour taking that sort of initiative?
