Damien Grant: Chris Hipkins fails the moral and competence test to be Prime Minister.
I have been critical of many of Damien Grant’s columns on Stuff but today he has penned and showed he has the balls to honesty call it as it is about how weak and what a total failure Chris Hipkins has been as a MP, Cabinet Minister and now Prime Minister for this corrupt Labour Government.

This would be one of the best articles in the last five years from any Journalists or Guest Writers with facts to back up his honesty.
Is this the beginning of the end for this corrupt Government and could we see more p pen articles of fact about how weak and inept this Government , Cabinet and their MP’s are, let’s hope so and honesty finally prevails.

Andrea Vance returns to her attack on National in Stuff this morning, criticising the party for having the temerity to use AI in its election campaign and asking “How is National going to feel when they are the party who will be mocked?”

Well pardon me Ms Vance but have you stopped and had a good look at how the mainstream media are currently treating National? Whether it’s standard reporting, opinion columns or cartoons, National is being repeatedly mocked and ridiculed by the media with an intensity that is without precedent in New Zealand. What makes the mockery all the more astonishing is that National aren’t even in government. So much for the media holding power to account.

If Vance and her ilk are uncomfortable about AI being used by political parties (and truth be told there may be some merit to their concerns) then perhaps they might want to have a long, hard look at their own approach to how they treat National, and contrast that with their thinly veiled cheerleading of Labour and Hipkins.

You never know Andrea – if people like yourself were more even-handed in your treatment of National, perhaps the party might not have felt the need to use AI in the first place. Now there’s a thought.

DEI or DIE? Two acronyms for diversity etc, each with a different connotation – ‘of god’ / ‘end of’.

The second acronym is popping its head above the parapet a bit more often these days, sometimes serious, sometimes making a point. Or a laugh. Sounds like the beginning of a grassroots movement.

For what it’s worth , this column by Damien Grant is possibly his best ever….’exocet ‘precision on all points.
I would love to see ” Bomber” Bradbury…who likes to portray himself as an ‘ honest’ commentator of the left rebut Damiens points…..he won’t be able to however….because they’re irrefutably true . This article deserves wide exposure ….especially to the brain dead ” glued on “Labour voters who have a conscience after all!

  It’s excellent and on point in almost everything.
  The only slight criticism I have is that the extent of his criticism of Hipkins re his role as covid minister is of the awful Bellis case, which was pure politics, and the MIQ shambles. Certainly both examples of terrible management.
  
  But no mention of those mandated out of their jobs, and nothing about the vaccine injured and dead.
  I can (sadly) understand some political reluctance to address the latter, but surely the mandates were the most egregious action in all of this? That and the associated medical apartheid regime that accompanied it?
  
  He also makes the mistake or referencing failure in testing. That’s a non topic, other than antibody testing which the government bizarrely banned in early 2020, the various tests employed are useless. There is nothing to discuss.
  
  Otherwise, he’s absolutely skewered the sausage roll muncher from the Hutt.

    “Luxon has the managerial competence and intellectual curiosity to actually govern.”
    
    National’s sensible policies coupled with their expertise will get NZ back on track with sustainable middle ground policies.
    
    I’m hoping for a 75% majority, entrenchment of a citizen’s referenda system for policies not costed, business cased, and laid out before the election (NZ has a sensible pandemic plan which Labour ignored to the sole benefit of the Labour hierarchy and their associated financial interests) but that hope will only come about if enough people get off their chuffs and support it.
    
    While it is easy to throw largely unsubstantiated abuse and criticism at Luxon and National, none of the abusers have yet come up with a good reason to vote for someone else.
    
    I was questioned yesterday about my views on National’s part in the vaccine injury cover up (Seymour is astoundingly denying excess deaths). I explained that most voters supported Adern’s disastrous covid response and they have moved on from the vaccine so electorally there is very little capital there for Luxon.
    
    I also explained my disgust at Adern’s statements about the vaccine being safe and effective whilst she possessed a medsafe report that it was neither safe nor effective.
    
    I took my teenage children to get that poison put in their bodies and I have a plan to hold Adern and her ministers to account (citizens in many other countries are pursuing their lying politicians).
    
    Who will get off their KB soapboxes and help me actually do something about the problem?

      Suggest start with a plan to request information under the Official Information Act. Could use fyi.org.nz to publicly record requests and responses, maybe using some standardised terms to make searching results more effective. Straightforward to send the same or similar request to multiple agencies.
      
      Can’t request personal info via this site, so individuals would need to do that.
      
      Rubbish responses and delays can be referred to the Ombudsman.
      
      As an initial step this has the advantage of not much effort by requesters.

      Mark – seriously, how difficult is it to acknowledge what everyone knows, including the diehard Labour supporters? I can’t imagine more than 5% of people are actually oblivious to the truth.
      We had a staunch Labour friend, after a year when he saw me kicked off Coastguard and another mate who he had done firefighting duties with in Canada and Australia lost his position due to mandates, our mate had a great attack, he knows it was due to vaccine.
      He’s never said sorry, what he did say was “we should have stood by you guys”.
      
      That was enough, we’ve moved on. No apology needed.
      Why can’t National do this?
      Sorry, but we aren’t going to pretend it didn’t happen.

        Should Adern, Hipkins, Robertson, and Bloomfield be held to account for poisoning a nation? Absolutely!
        
        Is Luxon choosing the key issues he thinks will win National the election then articulating goals to address those issues a good campaign strategy? Absolutely!
        
        The two are not mutually exclusive.
        
        What actions are you taking to ensure the Labour hierarchy’s abuse of power for self enrichment at our expense is punished?
        
        What are you doing to ensure it never happens again?

        Luxon, Bishop and Seymour wanted to poison us more efficiently. He can say they didn’t have the information, that they were lied to. It’s the truth. You think that will alternate voters?
        
        If this makes me idealistic so be it. If it means I am not part of a society that operates on lies, abuse and deceit then so be it.

        I’m not sure that National apologizing for Adern’s, Hipkin’s, Robertson’s, and Bloomfield’s unconscionable covid actions will help?
        
        I am sure that general abuse of Luxon prior to the election will not help. He is your only hope!
        
        I am sure that if you are advocating for:
        – acknowledgement of covid response harm by National & ACT,
        – laws changed so we can’t fall victim to another corrupt Labour cabal,
        – people to be held to account,
        then you need to start or join a campaign for an independent royal commission of inquiry conducted by a Swedish judge, when National and ACT are in government.

  Does anyone expect anyone from the left to have achieved success or be able to complete in the real world? Hipkins is a product of the system in place. Grant makes it about Hipkins. He isn’t the problem the system that puts someone Hipkins in place is.

  I also read Oliver Hartwich’s article on the Breakingviews site this morning. The IMF projects NZ will have the worst trade deficit in the developed world this year. Our GDP per Capita is sliding down the global rankings and foreign investment is shrinking. We are a country in economic trouble as well as all the things Damien talked about.

      Robertson does not care how far he puts the Country into absolute debt – like Cullen did, remember forgetting the ACC $3 billion liability, and telling Treasury to leave it out.
      He is done in October and becomes a paid backbench list hack as nobody else will employ him.

    Maggy, if you look at the whole Labour cabinet there is not one competent Minister who could be a Prime Minister.
    
    Many tout Parker as being the intellectual one in the cabinet. In my opinion, that is setting a low bar. As can be seen by his RMA reforms, they are more about entrenching Labour politics into what is legislation important for the future development of NZ. As Environment Minister what has he delivered. As Revenue Minister, he has showed he is an old school Dunedin Labour socialism, with contempt for those who have wealth irrespective of how it has been accumulated. Not someone to be a PM then.

Re the proposal to give the WHO centralized power during any future ‘pandemic’, here’s some damning commentary from the former WHO director of their cancer programme Karol Sikora.

Having spent two years as director of the WHO cancer programme, I am more informed than most about the eye-watering waste and incompetence that oozes from every crevice of that organisation. Very strong on politics, very weak on expertise.

Mind you, that sounds just like the current Labour government.

It would be very interesting if we could get comments from the various political parties regarding their thoughts and respective positions on this proposal.
Maybe Arden could let us know what her mate Bill Gates thinks about it all and has she introduced him to Chippy yet….

    “Funding for two-year-olds in early childhood education got a “really positive response”, Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said. And a Hamilton youth hub will support older children to give them “better choices and better options”.

  They can bar code youth offenders, curfew them, regulate what they do, who they meet how they spent their time and where they travel.
  
  Through technology youth offenders can be controlled without going to prison. But govt in time intends to use this technology against society in general so doesn’t want to use against young criminals in the meantime

  Why do the attackers have a farnow but the victim has a family? If some white teens beat a 78 year old Maori almost to death with a hammer and crowbar would they they have been treated the same?
  
  One of the family members told the court that when the younger one was asked how he could attack an innocent old man, he replied: “It’s Mongrel Mob.” I thought the mob only made lunches and provided rehab services?
  
  “It was noted that the youth had spent five months in youth residence and 11 months on electronically-monitored bail, which was effectively the same as a three-year prison sentence.” Um what? Can someone please explain how that adds up to 3 years in jail?
  
  And this final gem from the judge to complete the madness:
  
  “Out of what was an awful situation that occurred on the 12th of January last year there can be some kernels of hope that the two people involved will be much, much better people than they were,” she said.”
  
  There were 3 people involved, one who will never be the same as he was before he was attacked by these little shits. We don’t care about victims anymore. Apparently one of them had been dislocated from his culture. So if I’m dislocated from my culture, can I give an old man a compound fracture?
  
  Regarding the little shits, a buck gets ten they reoffend again. This soft approach just shows them they can and will get away with it.

    You’d wonder what the judge’s verdicts would be had it been a retired senior judge in a leafy suburb .
    
    Not to mention te media pardy’s , which is muted to say the least ( compared to the outrage they manufacture over certain other events of their chosing)
    
    There was a time too that te media pardy would have had an opinion from the SST , but they don’t seem to quote them any more. More gatekeeping ?

That aphorism certainly applies to the left hand side of our Parliament where Labour MPs have the best paid job they’ve ever had or will have. I can’t help thinking that with the significant shift to EV’s and the associated drop in liquid fuel sales and it’s corresponding drop in excise duty, where will this drop in government tax be made up. Will electricity charges increase or will EV’s be placed on a mileage based charge like diesel vehicles? If this is the case EV owners are in for a big financial shock in the near future or maybe all electricity users will help to subsidise EV owners by way of higher electricity charges

In the proposed bi-lingual road signs, will they be – as in the examples shown so far – Maori above English, so that, at the glance you often have of an upcoming sign, you will have to understand or ignore the Maori before reading the essential English message?

Or will the Road Code now require proficiency in te Reo Maori to pass for a driver’s licence, and those with licences already need to be retested to prove they have the same skill in Maori language?

    I wouldn’t be so sure of that. In our area all council signs are large Maori print on top and miniscule English print underneath, and sometimes the English text is a colour which is hard to read against the background colour. The English is impossible to read unless you’re standing right in front of it. So driving past a park or other council facilities, by the time you’ve finished reading the Maori you’ve driven past and didn’t get to see the English so are none the wiser if that’s the place you’re looking for. And at a council-funded theatre I spent ages wandering around trying to the find the bathrooms, then finally went down a corridor and found a door saying “Wahine” which I figured might be the Ladies Room. Armed with this new knowledge I looked again in the foyer and found a sign pointing to that corridor, but I didn’t understand the Maori, and hadn’t seen the tiny English text on a sign hanging high above my head.
    Or a letter I received from the Ministry of Education which had “Te Manua” (or something) in the logo at the top of the first page, with no indication on that letterhead what the organisation is, then at the bottom of the second page there was a different logo with some Maori words and then very tiny, almost invisible “Ministry of Education”.

He is pragmatic and intellectually curious – his weakness is that he wants to be liked. A leader should be prepared to make the hard decisions irrespective whether the decision is popular or not. Michele Hewetson, the try-hard reporter in The Listener, like many of her media colleagues sees the Arena Williams’ sob-story about her dad as yet more evidence of Judith Collins’s hard-heartedness.
She misses the point. Several points in fact. How have we allowed a distinguished knight of the realm fall into such reduced circumstances he cannot find another $50 a month. Surely we should have a welfare fund for indigent knights. And how is her mother’s training as a GP so lacking that she cannot explain that the prescription charge is capped? And why cannot either daughter or wife help out the poor old chap and make sure he has a warm bedroom? I have always thought Māori and Pacific Islanders could teach us pakeha a thing or two about care of our elders. Why are the media not following up on this?

Yesterday I read this sad tale about the boy who drowned while snorkelling.

Unfortunately if you lead a rich, and mildly adventurous, life then there are risks and people will occasionally die or get life altering injuries. Same in many activities including cycling, sport, diving, sky diving,…

In my opinion as much safety as possible was considered and in place without outright banning outdoor activities. ie. a very reasonable amount.

They had had reasonable training. There were depth limits imposed, etc.

About the only factor that might have been missed is that fresh water diving is more dangerous than sea water diving and is more likely to cause death by drowning due to the way fresh water osmoses into the lung capillaries causing more rapid drowning. I would tend not to take unskilled divers into fresh water when NZ has a lot of seawater options.

But the coroner feels that adding yet another layer of bureaucracy will help and requiring safety plans etc is required.

More paperwork would not have made a jot of difference in this case and just adds another burden making it less likely that people will go outdoors.

  What a wimp! At 14 I was a milkboy pushing around milk trolleys with 3 full-size metal crates. Tricky up and down hills (no brakes). But the hardest part was getting the paper tokens out of a wet bottle with frozen fingers. (My fingers, not those in the bottle).

  As my aim is to live in a happy prosperous country with high social cohesion and low crime, then I agree with Bishop.
  
  House owners needn’t worry though, the least painful way out of the mess NZ is now in (thanks to the Labour hierarchy and the despicable NZ media), is to continue the current rampant immigration.

I’ve always thought all prisoners should be able to vote if they are citizens or residents.
We’re always hearing the winning PM say they will be the the PM for everyone
As it happens it’s not the case depending on length of sentence and the Nats & ACT want to tighten up restrictions.
Just imagine if they won the election, change the law and made it retroactive to before the election and subsequently lost the election.
