Violent crime in 2023 now up 50% on what it was in 2017
Here are the number of violent crimes recorded by Police for the first four months of each year since since 2016:

- 2019: 17,152
- 2020: 19,932
- 2021: 22,499
- 2022: 23,137
- 2023: 25,318
