Why would anyone that follows politics listen to the media when comes to what good for New Zealand especially leading up to a General Election.
The same politically corrupt Journalists and Reporters that want to make Jacinda Ardern our Former Prime Minister a cult hero and unbeatable in New Zealand politics are at it again as they try again to control the publis leading up to the 2023 Election.
They are determined to get their way again by going all out to have Labour and the Prime Minister Chris Hipkins Elected as the Government again in 2023, them have to have a imput in how New Zealand is run and what benefits them not New Zealand’s population.
Jessica Mutch McKay, Maiki Sherman ,
John Campbell, Simon Dellow, Jenna Lynch, Lloyd Burr all Labour Party Cyc’lops trying to have their influence and selfish views out there to help get the results as they managed with former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as they push for Chris Hipkins to be the Leader of the next Government, when really the only thing they have in common is they both have the traits of being compulsive liar’s.

    Watching an interview of Chris Luxon on one ewes this morning conducted by somebody called Anna. Anna the advocate has the interview technic seen for some time if anybody wanted hear what the leader of the opposition has to say. She kept pressing with the sort of questions that follow the Labour narrative of the week as set down in the weekly briefing to compliant editors.

  The last poll I saw had Hipkins at 26% as preferred PM. That seems extraordinarily low for a sitting PM, with all the ‘Chris wows China’, ‘Chris the boy from the Hutt’, ‘Chris and Albo, Dream Team’ fanboy stuff from the media.
  Meanwhile Luxon is only 4 points behind, despite the ‘Luxon struggles with Media’ storyline.
  Speaking to people with only a passing interest in Politics, they see Hipkins as out of his depth, umming and ahhing his way through answers, making things up on the spot.

  I say the first job of the new National/ACT Government is to heal the racial divide that has developed over the past 6 years. Racism Seperatism aand Aparthied have no place in a multi cultural society. The Government must identify the racists and condemn them as Traitors and Haters and Wreckers to quote a former Prime Minister. There must be a binding referendum on the future of the Maori Seats with a vote for all regardless of race. This matter impacts ALL voters as it is symbol of racism and apartheid.
  It wont be easy for the new Government but unless it is done NZ will continue down the road to become the South Africa of the South Pacific.

        What should Luxon do to eliminate absurd racial laws and division (none of which is helping the average Maori but it is making the Maori King’s family incredibly wealthy) to unite the nation?

        Matt, Julian Batchelor has done this country a tremendous service. All he has sought to convey at his meetings has been a full explanation of the actuality that led to the setting up and signing of the Treaty – nothing more. He has the documented evidence to present – which cannot be denied or remotely questioned, and that is what the “protestors,” who’ve been blatantly employing Goebbels-type denials of actuality, simply cannot argue against. In a word, they have nothing to contest. I say this because NOT ONE OF THEM has taken up Julian’s offer to debate him in public.
        It’s fascinating to note that the protestors, doubtless funded by wealthy settlement-rendered interests (because so many of them have been present at so many different meetings), have actually spurred many once-neutral persons to go and find out what Julian is on about.
        The conduct of the paid-for”protestors” has been utterly disgraceful, which is entirely because they don’t want the greater public who’ve past been sympathetic to Maori claims to find out the actuality of the utter rort they’re trying to perpetuate.

      And that’s why I doubt I’ll vote National after being a solid National/Act voter in all elections.
      
      If Maori do anything illegal they should be jailed. I left South Africa because I hated the racial divide that was and still is killing the country. I came to NZ because it was largely a country of racial harmony. Anyone disrupting society was dealt with based on the law. Now I’m starting to regret having come here as I see the same $#!t I saw in SA happening here, and again it’s the minority forcing their will on the majority, just like whites on blacks in SA. Except where the minority whites actually built infrastructure and developed the country, creating a first world country, the Maori (elite) are not building anything, they are more like the ANC, they want power for themselves and the wealth it will bring, not for the good of the WHOLE COUNTRY.
      If the Maori aren’t careful those with wealth and those generating wealth and taxable income will flee. Already 1 in 3 are planning on leaving, what will happen then? NZ will sink into 3rd world status as it’s the best and most productive who leave.
      People like me will leave. I came here 17+ years ago with a moderately good job, wife & 4 school age kids, a container of household stuff and $150,000. My kids are all now qualified and contributing to NZ, I own my house (mortgage free) have a 17m yacht and I’m 100% debt free.
      What will happen when people like us leave NZ?

        Sure, talk is cheap. But has he said anything concrete. For example:
        * Will he abolish Maori seats (something that should have been done almost 150 years ago).
        * Will he abolish the cultural report bullshit?
        * Will he abolish the special dispensations for Maori going to universities?
        * Will he abolish special Maori tax rates?
        * Will he kick gangs in the nads and stop treating them like cultural organizations?
        * Will he abolish the Maori health system?
        *…
        
        Saying throw-away vacuous comments like “everyone should be treated the same” is pretty hollow unless you actually turn that into some actionable policy.

        Local, like you I came from SA. One of the things that drew me to NZ was that it seemed to have all its racist shit sorted out and we had had enough of that in SA.
        
        We came out 31 years ago (actually 31 years ago tomorrow), we had around $25k, one 10 month old baby and about 1 cubic metre of belongings.
        
        At the time there wasn’t the internet etc, so the ability to research was very limited.
        
        While it would be stretching things to compare SA and NZ, there are certainly some elements of the track NZ is on that has similarities to SA.
        
        Both have made the mistake of putting race front and centre in government policy making. Both are losing skilled people hand over fist.
        
        I’m now over 60, but if I was 50 I think we’d probably be moving to Aus. But now it is too late. Our offspring are leaving for elsewhere – unlikely to come back.

      I say racial tension is rising and will only get worse. The Maori Party along with the Green Party and elements of the Labour Party are racist and apartheid by any definition. They dont support a colour blind multi cultural society. They want a society divided by race. We already have a situation where health professionals like my cancer Specialist have been told to treat Maori paitents ahead of non-Maori. He told me this himself. He told the Maori Health Authority he would be breaching the Hipporactic Oath and that the NZ Medical Council would remove his certificate if he did so.
      Go read Article 7 of the UN Declaration ot Human Right which this Government is a signatory and tell we why this isnt a breach of the Declaration. You cant because it is.

      Clearly the Treaty settlement process continues. There will be fair amount of self governance within the settlements, just in the Key administration.
      There will be a continuing increase in te reo, though perhaps not quite as emphatically pushed. Expect a similar level as present on radio and TV and the public service. Universities will as committed as they currently are, though I expect the Otago University medical admission will be moderated somewhat.
      The public service is not going to be much different than they currently are.
      There won’t be a referendum on the Treaty. The Māori seats will remain. As with Auckland there will be some specific Māori engagement in local government.
      In short, a moderated version of what is currently the case.

        Hi David (Seymour), in every day life and on political blog sites, people are expressing real concerns which i understand are not electorally advantageous but must be investigated and addressed post the election if the next National/ACT government is to unite / repair our nation, enact long term successful change, and prevent another Labour party hierarchy from enriching themselves at the expense of the health and wealth of the nation.
        
        ACT’s challenge. Your only successful enduring policy (EOL) was backed by a referendum – why aren’t ACT advocating more referenda to combat Labour’s reversal of excellent policies (Charter schools) when they gain power?
        
        Issues:
        1. the cause of NZ’s horrific mortality rates post the covid jab rollout.
        
        2. NZs position as the only OECD country still promoting and administering the failed covid jab,
        
        3. revelations by Dr Mannich’s covid batch study that the NZ Government purchased and administered pfizer covid batches known to cause unacceptable, frequent, and DEADLY adverse events.
        
        4. Race based policies which appear to only benefit the Maori King’s family (TOW referendum will be the most nationally beneficial ACT policy if you can implement it)
        
        5. Labour Minister’s defrauding taxpayers by awarding lucrative government positions and contracts to family members (what we hear about is the tip of the iceberg).
        
        6. Jacinda’s mysterious wealth accumulation.

        What a recipe for a further slide into the 3rd world. I fear you’re right, Wayne Mapp, but with enough determination we might just get the boat to turn. When Doug Graham first touted settlements – the billion dollars – he spoke (to me and others) of avoiding blood in the streets. That process has gone much too far. And of course Maori troughers will be upset. But the 85% of us who are not Maori and do not share your view that somehow Maori have entitlements that others do not have now have to step up and put a stop to it.       Wayne back in the early eighties the trade union movement was all powered, at the end of this eighties they were gone. How did this amazing turnaround happen and without serious opposition? There is pushback and there is snapback. While the unionists knew they were pissing off a large section of the community and were expecting some pushback, the snapback blindsided them. After Tania Jones’s March down Queen Street it was all over rover. There was nothing they could do. They could stop pushing or even pull back a bit but things had reached a tipping point. They were sorry boys who were reaping what they had sown. I’m not sure that we are quite there yet with the treaty stuff but we are close. If Act surge to 25% we will be and the English version of the Treaty will be embedded.

    To heal the racial divide, you would need to make it unprofitable for the race baiting grifters out there. They are making money off of paid media engagements and events.
    
    You would also need to convince their followers that they are not the victims and everything that happens to them is not the result of colonialism, racism, and the system being against them.       Right sirknz it will be like trying to force butter up a porcupines bum on a hot needle. That is to say an impossible task but the challenge must be met. Most about money like the growth industry of cultural reports. But now the TMP have another plan: “Te Putty Māori would close down Oranga Tamariki care and protection residences and end its “worst practices such as uplifting mokopuna without whānau, hapū, iwi consent”.
      One billion dollars of Oranga Tamariki’s $1.5 billion of funding would be reallocated to the Mokopuna Māori Authority, and the Authority would be required to establish a partnership network with hapū, iwi and Māori organisations to “ensure mokopuna Māori remain connected to their whakapapa”.
      “We will shift power, funding, and workforce from Oranga Tamariki to an independent Mokopuna Māori Authority within a three-year timeframe. Yep a cut and paste as the native gibberish is a mystery however the important thing again is to follow the money as we see is necessary by the last sentence. Not just TMP but the natives in general are starting to understand that when Labour goes so does the massive flow of cash they have squeezed out of them for everything they could.     Agree that co-governance needs to be rolled back though. Even that is going to be tricky. A lot of grumpy people making a huge amount of noise.

      It will fail at the starting line if such a policy ever even got a hearing. Since the “80’s and perhaps earlier preference was given to any vacancy that came through the old Department of Labour to be offered to female natives. Working on the Vacancies desk as a Temp Employment officer I gave up mentioning any new vacancies I solicited from local employers because that was the only criteria he was interested. So it became a mission to find good young people I found on file to send along for the vacancy. Get them in for a quick interview and give them a referral card and an interview time and the rest was up to them. Glide time was great and time credits enabled golf on a Thursday afternoon.

    Whether laws and government should treat people the same regardless of race is not a proper subject for a referendum. It is a fundamental human right. National/ACT should amend all legislation and government policy accordingly, as a matter of urgency once they take power. They won’t, of course.

The opposition are supposed to be able to hold the government to account, but this government either cannot or will not answer the questions. Grant Robertson waffling on about beetroots and how some relative used to eat them and trying to be humorous is just a complete waste of time.

3 News has their Reid Research poll out tonight.

However, this is the first time I have seen them spruiking it on their Breakfast News show.

If they’re talking it up now, I wonder why? Obviously it’s close to the election, but could it also be quite a good or bad poll for one or more of the parties?

Also, I looked back to the polling for the 2020 election, and the polling companies that were closest for the main parties was Roy Morgan and Reid Research

  You should be getting your news from reputable sources, even the very first sentence in that article is wrong. China does not “control 70% of the world’s lithium production”, more than 3/4 of it comes from Australia and Chile. Conversion and battery manufacture is currently dominated by the Chinese, but it’s a very long way (8-10 years minimum) from Rover getting an approved exploration permit to actual production – they haven’t even drilled yet, much less confirmed lithium is there in economically recoverable quantities. Extracting lithium from clay is difficult and very environmentally unfriendly – you need large quantities of water and sulfuric acid – the BLM are simply doing the same due diligence they did with LAC’s project at Thacker Pass (which did eventually get approved).
  
  Anyway, “Biden shuts down Lithium Mining & Constantly Makes America More Dependent on China” is just rubbish, screw this one up and put it in the bin.

      FFS, defconnews.com! It’s exactly the same content as in that other article, and yes, it is the same rubbish.
      
      If you’re very very lucky, hard rock lithium mining in a jurisdiction that has relatively efficient approval processes (e.g. Australia) will take you 5-6 years from exploration to production – but more likely 8-10 years. Extracting lithium from clay in the US or Canada I’d be very surprised if you were anywhere near production in 10 years, and these guys haven’t even got a drill hole in the ground yet.
      
      The US aren’t dependent on China for lithium, they go to Australia and Chile and get it. China get most of their lithium from the same place! The idea that some small, unproven lithium clay deposit in the middle of Nevada is somehow making the US dependent on China is laughable.
      
      In fact the US is becoming *less* reliant on China in the lithium-ion battery chain as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act, which actively encourages local US investment and material supply from countries with which it has free trade agreements, and was passed by the Biden administration. So not only are those articles incorrect, in reality the opposite is true.

    Actually, China does control all the major lithium operations in Chile. Chinese companies have bought the mining rights and are running the extraction and have sewn up the supply lines.
    
    So sure, those deposits might physically be in Chile, but they are definitely under Chinese control.

      This is not remotely true either. SQM and Albemarle are the only two lithium producers in Chile. Albemarle is US owned. SQM is Chilean owned and only under “Chinese control” to the extent that Tianqi is a ~25% shareholder in SQM. Now, Chinese companies may have offtake agreements with SQM and Albemarle (I don’t know), but they’re simply supply contracts with expiry dates – very different than “bought the mining rights”
      
      In any case, the Chilean government have said they’re nationalising the lithium industry, so in no way is Chilean lithium “under Chinese control”

  New York Times / Siena College poll. Biden and Trump at 43% each. Consistent with other polls out there. RCP average has Biden 44.9 to Trump 44.0. Some have Biden ahead, some Trump. Note that the Electoral College system means that this is not the full picture. Trump had a large advantage in the College in the past two elections, and could easily win that even if Biden got more votes.

      The latest Roy Morgan poll has NZ First at 5% already. They will go much higher as the ‘freedom community’ comes to the realisation that NZ First are the only party that has a chance to make it into parliament that will represent them.
      
      Yes, Winston Peters does have a chequered history, but with National and Act steadfastly refusing to acknowledge the harms caused by the Covid response and vaccine mandates, he’s really the only chance for this dark stain on our nation’s history to be addressed.
      
      I voted Act last election and National for the previous 8 elections, but I could never vote for them again while they keep their heads in the sand over this.

    In my view one of the most courageous things Key ever did was to publicly pledge well prior to the 2008 election that he would never form a government with Peters in it. Luxon should do the same – but I very much doubt he will. Luxon is no John Key.

    Why are lies coming from Winston Peters any worse than those from than David Seymour and Christopher Luxon?
    
    Seymour tried to claim New Zealand had reduced mortality over the pandemic. Luxon pretended not to know anything about the World Economic Forum. Either these are lies or demonstrations of stupidity – either way they make them unfit to represent me in parliament.
    
    Will Peters deliver on his promise of a “full, independent inquiry into the Covid-19 pandemic response”? I don’t know – but what I do know is we will certainly get nothing from Seymour or Luxon.

        As Ghost said, it is a substantial number of NZers who were abused by their government and it was abuse fully supported by National and Act. If National or Act could bring themselves to make the same comments as Peters, they would get those votes in an instant.
        
        The people negatively affected by covid know full well who was responsible, they also know who wanted more done to increase vaccine uptake.

        That’s not correct. The Platform conducted a survey of the parliamentary protestors about how they voted in the 2020 election:
        Labour: 29.8%
        Green: 16%
        National: 15.9%
        Act: 11.9%
        Considering Labour got around 50% of the vote in 2020, they were greatly under-represented at the parliamentary protest.

      If it is true, then Winston cares so little about the country he would block reform of the RMA over the treaty clauses. Better to have a reformed RMA with the ‘bad’ treaty bits than a shit RMA with the ‘bad’ treaty bits.
      
      If it is false, he was lying to make political capital and excuse himself for not supporting RMA changes when he could have.
      
      Personally I found Key to be (sadly) politically driven rather than always doing what was best for the country (he should have removed WFF rather than just pausing its growth for example). So I could believe he might want to keep the treaty stuff in as you imply. However I also found key to be one of the most trustworthy of any politician, if he said a thing it was generally true and if he said he was going to do a thing he generally did. I would believe Key over Winston anyday. That said I would also believe JA or Hipkins over Winston and they are bald faced liers.

  I accept what Peters has posted on Twitter. Further to the piece that HDPA did at 4.55pm yesterday, Peters was then later on her show repeating what was in his Twitter post.
  
  There is an interview between HDPA and Peters in which he states he will not go with Labour.
  
  But how did Peters get to this position? It was all because of the clever way he answered questions following the NZF conference as to which way Peters will jump if he is in a position to negotiate forming a government.
  
  In short, he gave a changed position, back tracking from what he said a week earlier, and it was reminiscent of 2017. My opinion is, as usual you can only trust Peters to do the right thing for Winston Peters.
  
  Therefore, I would never trust him under any circumstances.

  The full context of the quote:

What is interesting is that some people will believe the media’s outright lies over the evidence. It’s very odd, particularly over something so trivial. While I don’t condone Threatening or Intimidating of a Labour MP from National MP Tim Van de Molen if it is proven I find that the Government has double standards .
While Labour and Prime Minister Chris Hipkins cover up what really happened when former Justice Minister Kiri Allen said to the Police Officer when arrested for driving under the influence and other charges I hope the truth get to prevail in both of these cases.
Again it looks like the Labour Party are prepared to delve into dirty politics once again to be the Government in October 2023.

The use affects 20,000 beneficiaries a year at a cost of $29 million and currently 80% of all orders are collected from beneficiaries.

What is the alternative?
And, how do we prevent the rest of the population shouldering the debt, either through the government or increased prices.

In order to favour the ‘Energy Transition,’ you have to believe all of the things below..…

…that temperatures are rising abnormally (and will continue to rise abnormally)

…that our use of fossil fuel is to blame

…that lower temperatures are better than higher ones

…that if we stop using fossil fuel, disaster will be avoided

…that we can replace fossil fuel with other forms of energy, conservation and doing without

…that we can afford the cost of the transition and that it will be managed successfully

…that we don’t have better uses for the money

…and that the world will be a better place if we make the effort.

None of these things are facts! But that is the path that the entire western world is on.

  The methodology of emission calculations is very interesting. At least as applied to the marine transport/shipping industry.
  How does it work?
  Vessels are grouped according to their purpose into different categories. Using a bulk carrier as an example:
  -the fuel consumption of a bulk carrier size 0 to 9999 is assumed to be 1505.8 per annum
  -the fuel consumption of a bulk carrier size 10000 to 34999 is assumed to be 3528.3 per annum
  
  Taken on its face value in means that a bulk carrier of 10001 T would consume twice as much fuel per annum as a bulk carrier of 9999 T (both with a similar trading pattern), which is an obvious nonsense, yet these are actual values that powers that be use to calculate shipping emissions. It is all very precise indeed…
  
  Now, how do we accurately calculate emissions from the log burners on a cold winter night in a Central Otago town? Or from the cooking fires on an average day in Surabaya, Indonesia? But of course wood is not a fossil fuel, is it?

The Government is “re-investing” cash in its Kiwibank.

The Government’s holding company in the bank, Kiwi Group Capital (KGC) owns 74.7 per cent of the bank. KGC is investing into Kiwibank quarter of a billion dollars from the $310 million it made from selling KGC’s fund management business, Kiwi Wealth, to Fisher Funds late last year.

Kiwi Wealth descends from Gareth Morgan’s Kiwisaver scheme, sold by Morgan to Kiwibank for a little over $50 million in 2012.

Kiwibank has quit Kiwi Insurance as well as Kiwi Wealth to focus on core banking.

Gareth Vaughan (yep, another Gareth) writes at the web site “Interest.co.nz” that at March 31 Kiwibank had a total capital ratio, expressed as a percentage of its risk weighted lending exposures, of 13.4 per cent.

The Reserve Bank mandated minimum will rise from the present 10.5 per cent to at least 16 per cent in 2028.

Were Red Radio and Woke-Left extremists this morning toying with words about veteran National MP Gerry Brownlee.

The report seemed to suggest that Brownlee, on a Parliamentary committee, opposed ta move to extend the time that the Government could hold illegal immigrants.

With a hundred million refugees on Earth (UN estimate), and hundreds of millions threatening to crash into the developed world from hungry countries, this is serious stuff. It’s worse because the range of people-smuggler boats will inevitably increase.

I can’t believe that Brownlee or National MPs would oppose a move that would help protect NZ from such invasions.

Internationalism-fanatic Wokies, feminine, young, and foreign from their accents, must have fooled Radio NZ and listeners like me, that Brownlee was on their side.

Bit of a mystery about the Stop Co Governance meeting scheduled for Whakatane yesterday. The live stream did not work then a caller on the Platform said he showed up at a venue and no-one was there. Anyone know if it happened and is there a video link?

The Herald runs an opinion piece written by Denis O’Reilly, crowing about how he infiltrated a Julian Batchelor Stop Co-governance meeting. Points out, in his opinion, errors in Batchelor’s handout but no factual response.

  The speech/presentation is given and then questions answered. Interjecting the presentation with questions just turns it into a circus. I have seen this circus at Orewa.
  The venues are changed because the owners are pressured by Iwi, or the protesters will not let supporters in. They are censoring free speech – what are they afraid of? The truth?
  Hipkins will do nothing about a public consultation, Labour are committed to co-governance and 3 waters.
  These are yet more reasons why Ardern ran away. Compulsive lies caught up with her.

Did anyone see the story on the news last night about our Hospital Emergency Departments and the Ambulances that had to be turned away.
I thought this Labour Government preached the that our Hospitals were under funded and under staffed and the would fix these problems.
Well they have thrown billions of dollars at the problem and the state of our Hospitals , Staffing , Emergency Departments and waiting list are worse than when labour came to power and yesterday’s fiasco proved that Labour has tripled the problem that they have .

So the thousands of (equally qualified?) nurses employed by health centres, aged care centres etc etc etc will get nothing. So – shortage of nurses in hospitals solved as they all resign from their current jobs and flood into Health Board jobs? Cunning government! //

Herald reports on the most recent Citibank scam. They mention 3 NZ cases, but fail to mention reports that a NZ based “mule” was arrested in one of the citibank scams in June. He was the intermediary who then laundered the money offshore.

What has happened to that mule? Why don’t we have their name or any details? What country were they from? Who and where did they launder the money to? Why wasn’t the arrest mentioned in the most recent citibank scams.

So very much of the supply chain for basic ICE automotive parts is dependent on China, that if they stopped exporting the thousands of containers a day that they do to the rest of the world, pretty soon people’s cars would be at the side of the roads or in the garages regardless of engine.

My wife is a Checkout Supervisor that loses more that one trolley a day and has laws around that prohibits Staff or Sercurity from touching the culprit and they are trespassed .
You can call the police ever time it happens with these same thieves but nothing is done as the Police are always busy when they want them.
This Supermarket lose more than one trolly a day and customers get pissed off about the lack of Police presence when it is needed.

So the education budget is now taking this hit, not new money to pay for it

The Government agreed to support an Independent Arbitration Panel’s recommendation to increase teachers’ pay by 14.5%.

However, the pay bump will be funded by shifting $374 million from the education budget.

“After careful consideration and weighing up the current challenging financial environment, the Government has agreed to find the money through savings from other parts of the Education Budget and Education’s Budget 2024 cost pressure allowance,” Education Minister Jan Tinetti said.

You can’t have one if all the nurses move to greener pastures ps top rates are well over that ! My wife is on over $160 k but she has two degrees, one a masters and 33 years experience.         If your missus does the same job as a doctor (I doubt it), then why didn’t she become a doctor? Why is she buggering around getting degrees that don’t advance her career as much?
        
        The reason I say I doubt she does the same job as a doctor is that a large part of what a doctor does is take the responsibility for decisions that are made (yes, I am aware that others do make decisions too) and that extra responsibility also comes with a heftier pay packet.
        
        Bottom line is that people get paid as much as they are able to negotiate.
        
        But you are correct that many people in all fields (nursing, engineering,…) are leaving to go elsewhere or even find less stressful conditions. A year ago I talked to a nurse who was looking at leaving nursing to go work in a factory.

        I would suggest a masters in nursing science and a degree in biology is advancing her. As a nurse Practicioner she is happy in her work. Ok she had to pay for 6 years and do 11 uni papers in her own time but her hard work has paid off. If you end up in any Ed there is a fair chance. You will be dealt to by a NP and be glad if you do. I would rather a NO than a new doctor straight out of Uni . Give me experience over a uni qualification any time. And yes she does take patients on just like a doctor, makes her decisions without reference to a doctor, pr3scribes just like a doctor. Deals with bone injuries lacerations ,heart attacks just as a doctor does. If she feels it too complicated for her she refers it to a consultant, just like a doctor.

      I don’t understand your second sentence. In tribes without money, the concept of paid employment doesn’t exist, so the question of volunteering doesn’t arise. And those both date back well over 2000 years and still exist today, for example, in the Amazon. Though I suppose their ultimate sanction for non-conformists, if they didn’t kill them, was an expulsion with similar effect to Gloriavale’s.
      
      But once people started using money, working for others for payment would surely have been normal.

        Money isn’t the only form of payment. People have been bartering since ugg and ogg traded some newly made spear heads for a lump of meat.
        Maori managed to pay/barter/trade without being able to do the most basic arithmetic and without money.
        
        But it would be entirely naive to think that working for payment is generally normal. Slavery is much closer to normal. 100 years ago my grandfather was a British commissioner in South West Africa.         We can make a big song and dance about this “volunteer” style work, but how is it fundamentally different to other similar work?

Im sure im right here in noticing the poor service by an increasing amount of people.Years ago I read Economics 101 by thomas Sowell and why the economy of USSR was so bad,I’m sure its happening here right now.
Staff have told me that I have to pay them $22 odd per hour just to walk in the door,so they don’t need to put much effort in for this.They only create a bit of effort if they get paid substantially over the $22 hence IMO why productivity is dropping like a stone.

The young lady who was so awfully killed, had complained to the police twice in recent days about her stalker and his threats. But hey – “Police were progressing this matter further when Farzana was senselessly murdered.”

Which begs two questions really
– is there ever any such thing as a sensible murder?
– but far more significantly, what do the police get to do which is much more important and urgent than investigating a threatening stalker (who amongst other things previously said he would throw acid on her face)?

I mean they’re always telling us they can’t investigate burglaries or car thefts or anything of that nature because they’re so very busy doing much more urgent stuff. What is much more urgent than this sort of thing that they still don’t do? If you’re a father and someone is stalking and threatening your daughter, when would it be time for some Paul Kersey interventions?

  Former Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters has alleged there is a $20 billion hole in the Government’s revenue as a result of the weakening economy.
  
  Finance Minister Grant Robertson’s office said the statement was untrue.
  
  In a press statement, Peters alleged public service chief executives had been called in by Public Service Commissioner Peter Hughes on Wednesday to “find and claw back cuts of 10 per cent of core Crown spending to the Consolidated Fund”.
  
  A deficit of $20b would be very large. The Covid-19 deficit in 2019/20 was $23b, and the current deficit is forecast to be just $7b.
  
  The Herald has confirmed public service chief executives met with Robertson as recently as today. It is understood spending restraint was discussed.

We keep hearing about the police having their hands tied. I don’t think that’s correct. I think they choose what to enforce and they enforce against the people currently out of favour with the government and they enforce in favour of the people currently in favour with the government. Certainly when I was in hotel quarantine they were absolutely forceful in enforcing against the quiet obedient middle-class families which made up 97% of the people in that hotel. Just as they were very forceful in stopping people from going through the illegal every roadblocks. Just as they were very forceful and stop for people going outside in fresh air during the lockdowns. They are forceful when it suits them and they are lackadaisical when it doesn’t suit them.

  Top level cops might have their hands tied by the politicians, or they could be acting according to their own activist goals.
  
  But the lower-level bobbies on the beat definitely are constrained as to what they can do.

    Oamaru Hospital, contracted by Te Whatu Ora, was forced to shut its emergency department from 5pm on Monday to 7am on Tuesday because of “doctor shortages”.
    
    In-patient access was also restricted. No patients were transferred to Dunedin Hospital during the closure, said Te Whatu Ora specialist services lead Hamish Brown.
    
    It comes less than a week after Christchurch’s 24 Hour Surgery closed for eight hours overnight because of nurse shortages.
    
    Hospitals across the South Island are bulging.
    On Tuesday evening, wards in Christchurch Hospital were at 97% occupancy, while Burwood Hospital was at 96%.
    
    Nelson Hospital was at 98%, Wairau Hospital 102%, Timaru Hospital 89%, Dunedin Hospital, 96% and Southland Hospital 98%.

Yowza! Transpower reported an electricity demand of 7400MW at about 6:30pm tonight. Just about all forms of generation are cranking away except for wind (lol) and diesel.
