Labour’s Rotorua candidate decided to park their car on the footpath. Obviously rules are just for everyone else.

Given a National Party candidate was repeatedly shamed for legal parking a couple of elections ago, perhaps Ben Sandford would have been more circumspect.

Why not just say ‘decided to park HIS car’ instead of ‘their’ as the gender of the candidate is known and the sentence did not include multiple people (candidate rather than candidates). This woke Stuff has really overrun the internet

  It is not petty. I know a lot of wheelchair users who I have met through adaptive sport. The unobstructed use of the footpath is vital to them. He’s parked there so he doesn’t have to walk, obstructing those who cannot walk.

Seems a self-entitled behavioural trait, not unlike Labour’s ethnic supporters parking in disabled carparks without permits, but with impunity.
Authorities seem to turn a blind eye to this type of abuse . . . don’t think it is in TOW settlements!

Some years ago, possibly when he was still leader, I encountered Andrew Little in the carpark of Classic Flyers in Mt Maunganui. He had driven in the wrong way, stopped his car in the middle of a narrow one-way exit, and was unloading some stuff no doubt for a presentation he was about to make.

You know how just after the moment has passed, you think of the right thing to say? I wish I’d said, “That’s typical. You’re going the wrong way and you’ve blocked all progress – sounds about right.”

In his defence it is safer to drive on the footpath, less potholes and better maintained.

Seems to be a common thing though parking on the footpath at that market looking at their Facebook page

How hard is it? Candidates have surely been told, “You’re all under the microscope: by our supporters, our opponents and the media.

You must be squeaky clean. Follow all the rules, think twice before acting, and above all don’t be a dickhead.”

It’s not rocket science.
