I went along to ACT’s official campaign launch yesterday. Security was supposedly “tight”. Frankly having a bunch of lightweights – they wouldn’t make a 3rd rugby 15 at a small college – trying to manage bag searches, checking for troublemakers and then trying to throw people out makes a mockery of security. If you are serious about being able to stop people or remove them you call in big, ugly-big guys, popping the buttons on their shirts and able to show some mongrel.

The Vision NZ guy who did most of the interrupting anchored himself in the middle of the theatre and it was always going to be difficult to manoeuvre him out, but chaos ruled for 10 mins because there was no plan, nobody was in charge and there was no one fit and able enough to handle him.

As for the journalists whining about getting hurt or blocked they should consider they got off lightly. When people go to the trouble of attending an event to hear a particular message, having media race after anyone interrupting the show rather than focusing on the event itself means they will always be on the receiving end of some anger. Our media are just too arrogant and precious.

Seymour looked tired and his voice was often strained but his message was excellent, well-constructed and he ably demonstrated why ACT is our only hope for the major turn around needed for our country.

  It is always about what some attention seeking and self indulgent protester wants to bore us with.
  It is not news.

        At the Red Radio site, they’re climbing into National’s Hamilton East candidate Ryan Hamilton over remarks about fluoridation. He clearly doesn’t, or didn’t like it.
        
        RNZ’s dug out comments Hamilton made as long as 10 years ago, and the site says National’s official policy favours fluoridation.
        
        So what? I support fluoridation, but it’s no big deal to oppose it.
        
        Overly vigorous chlorination of water does annoy me. I was among those who queued at Christchurch deep-water bores with taps provided, to get unchlorinated, but routinely tested, water from council pumps. It was the great water Christchurch was once renown for.
        
        Public access was closed in the last few weeks to meet rules of the Labour-Maori water takeover of water supply and our citizen-paid water assets.
        
        Voters who queued for unchlorinated water will no doubt remember the taste when they have their morning cup of tea or coffee before going to the polling booths 26 days from today.
        
        In the meantime, a Hamilton win in Hamilton East might save the city’s name. It will change if the Woke-Maori activist junta is returned.

  The never was reporter got it wrong lampooning ACT Party her vile comments should have been directed at Labour/Greens /Maori Party who would combined not have attracted such a crowd of committed Voters who want NZ to be “A Nation Once Again” Not a third world type of existence visited on an unfortunate country in the last Six Years.   There was a member of the Legalise Cannabis party present at the launch too. He was wearing a suit with that emblazoned with the Legalise Cannabis logo. He was there clearly with an agenda.

  Who was covering security? Armourguard? We dropped them at my supermarket as they were hopeless. They seemed to be an employer of last resort for mostly average-sized South Asian immigrants, including the occasional woman who was really at risk of serious injury by her employer. Every week someone knew came on duty and had to trained from scratch. Our new crew are a mixed bunch of BIG European, Maori, PI and Indian guys who have street smarts, and know when to play it cool and when to take action.

First Victoria University can’t manage its finances, needs tens of millions and has to lay off lots of employees. Now Wellington City Council is in a ‘financial crisis’ involving potentially hundred of millions of ratepayer dollars.

Not worry though. Calling it a ‘crisis’ is just scaremongering. Labour councillor Teri O’Neill says it’s just a ‘financial spot’. Mayor Whanau calls it ‘financial headwinds’.

Sounds like some at the council have been taking lessons from Finance Minister Robertson and his PR team.

Meantime, enquiring minds want to know how these blowouts of OPM could have happened, what risks and mitigations were being reported and in the case of the council when are we-the-ratepayers going to be allowed to know exactly how big this ‘financial spot’ is. And how and when the ‘spot’ is going to be fixed.

  Covid-obsessives are rather tiresome. I think they wake up at 4 am in a cold sweat with this single issue on their minds & it then dominates their thinking for the entire day. And it’s a Groundhog Day.
  Most of us have done things in our lives that may come back to adversely impact on our health: we may enjoy a drink rather frequently, have experimented with smoking, have over-indulged at the table, like a fair old sprinkle of salt with meals just to amp up the taste…..but we don’t need some wowser popping up every other minute banging on about it. It’s the same with vaccines.
  
  From my own honest and 100% truthful perspective, I do not know one single person who has been obviously adversely effected by the vaccine, including relatives in their 80’s. They were vaccinated, boosted, and are enjoying happy and full lives. And I honestly do not need someone popping up and saying “but you’re all doomed, you just don’t know it yet.” It’s sick, to taunt people in that way about unknowns. Only a ghoul would do it.

      Don Beckett – worldwide there are millions more. Many don’t know it yet because it isn’t being properly investigated. Many have damages the heart, many have damages to their innate immune system.
      The number of adverse effects is a thousand times that of any prior vaccination in history. There are more deaths and injuries than ALL vaccinations in history COMBINED. But they are not being removed from market?
      
      I might have had covid once, was a bit crook for about 5 days, just like a regular winter bug. I’ll never know because I’ll never test, just like I’ve never worn a mask and never will.
      
      I have a good friend who bought into the narrative hard. My friend has had 3 jabs and 4 bouts of covid. She is constantly ‘a bit sick’ and she claims to have ‘long covid’.
      
      No, she has ‘long vaccine’. But of course we can’t talk about it.
      
      Cheers to Ardern and all of those who actively supported this insanity.
      Big cheers to all of those who now realise it was a con job and are big enough to admit it and speak up.
      
      As for those who want to ‘move on’ and pretend nothing happened? Look in your mirror and have a long hard think about what you are saying.
      For those who wonder how they would have acted in Nazi Germany when the stigmatising and segregation of minorities began which led to horrors, you know who you are.
      
      Calling people who are concerned about the worst abuses of a minority in at least a generation ‘obsessives’, is as childish as it is vindictive.
      Telling them to ‘move on’ is an indication of narcissism and cowardice.

    Your comment is appallingly insensitive and insulting to those who did not want to take an unproven novel therapeutic measure that did not go through any form of acceptable testing, that the manufacturers and those promoting it already knew was ineffective and unsafe, that our government forced upon us riding rough-shod over individual sovereignty and contrary to any of the principles of the Nuremberg Code and during which none of our Parliamentary representatives stood up for our rights and the biggest assault of our freedoms ever.
    
    Yes, those “covid obsessives” who are now being asked to vote once again for Parliamentary representatives, the same people who could not stand up to Jacinda, who could not see the abuse of our rights and freedoms, who have not kept themselves up to date with information about the medium term complications and continuing deaths from the “vaccine”, and who cannot stand up in front of us and apologise for the harms done, offer support for those injured, condolences to those who lost close ones and say that they will oppose any such further assaults on our sovereignty and freedom.

    The number of serious adverse effects is around 1 in 8000. Reasonably long odds, but we’re talking heart attacks, strokes etc and death there.
    Do you know anyone with ‘long covid’? Anyone with immune issue problems? Anyone who’s had covid multiple times?
    Many things can be cause by the jabs, but there is no way of knowing, because most people are terrified of finding the jab they took was the cause.
    
    What you’re saying is that it’s your belief that nobody you know has had an adverse effect from the jab. That’s because nobody gets checked for it.

      Clan – I keep on coming across people who most probably are vaccine injured but have no clue that they are.
      
      There is a deliberate attempt to look the other way by our MoH and hide the numbers. Until such time as they start doing appropriate post mortem examinations on all slightly suspicious deaths, and tissue and blood examinations on the severely injured they cannot claim the numbers they publish.

      Clan: Thanks for that link. I’ve never been so regularly sick as I have over the 12+ months. And I now have another issue which appears to be a side affect of the bloody jabs (only 2, but 2 too many) which I’m closely watching and hoping I’m wrong about (saw Dr Peter McCullough talk about it recently and it all slotted into place). Never forget people. NEVER. What you ignore today can easily come back in another version in years to come – climate change seems to be the most obvious at the moment, but who says these pricks won’t repeat all this again with another “health crisis/plandemic”.

        From most of the things I am reading it does seem as though there are protocols that can help repair much of the damage done by these jabs.
        
        The serious adverse effects are still relatively rare at 1 in 8000, but that is still massively more than is normally acceptable.
        
        What has been done to so many people is malfeasance of the highest order and supported by the vast majority of politicians, ‘experts’. journalists and assorted useful idiots with high profiles and influence in various communities.
        
        No wonder they are all shutting down and refusing to acknowledge any of it.
        This next few years is going to be like pulling teeth, but once the information starts coming, it will be unstoppable. There are many in this country who deserve everything coming their way.

  To those who got the vaxx, for whatever reason, I hope that you got yours from one of those batches that have no/very few recorded side effects. To all of the vaxxed – you have my sympathy for what was done to you by our government and I hope that this has woken you up to the evil that Big Pharma/US bioweapons program/US military-industrial complex /WEF/WHO/Gates foundation/MSM and others have perpetrated on us and that you now question everything that comes from them. It’s a sad business that hooning teens ended up killing one of themselves, but still, is justice served by charging the driver with dangerous driving causing death? Should it all be pinned on him?

All of then, including the young dead miss, were all complicit in this. They all willingly got into a pink stickered car and participated in the illegal racing and evading police. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Obviously the girl cannot be charged anymore, but why not charge the others too? They were part of it all.

And perhaps the teen that was interviewed here should reconsider her life choices and her definition of a “best friend” before she finds herself wrapped around a telephone pole.

  The passengers can be charged with being accessories to reckless driving – if the Police can gather sufficient evidence to prove this beyond reasonable doubt. The usual method would be to persuade the driver to turn King’s evidence against the passengers (in the hope of a lighter sentence) then play the passengers off against each other. However the Police probably consider it is not worth the bother. In one case a Police officer ticketed everyone in a car on that basis but the Prosecutor probably had to back down with respect to the passengers.

    I knew at some remove a couple of cases of young dumb impulsive kids with low comprehension of risk mucking around with cars resulting in fatalities when I were a lad. In each case those involved were extremely affected by the death of mates and halted their dumbfuckery for good. Can’t say I see the point in additional punishment – for normal people, though there will be examples where they are slow learners or have low intelligence/empathy and more is needed.

      Some drunk idiot wrapped the passenger side of his car around a tree on the other side of the road from us, killing one, rather than cutting the tree down they turned it into a beer bottle shrine and had regular sessions where they threw empties into our paddock.
      The council engineer that purposely left dangerous corners on the road to avoid it “becoming a race track” deserves credit for that particular incident.

They are happy for a small number of people to kill themselves in a reckless manner so they can use this to pacifier the general population.

Suzi Ferguson in her most sepulchral voice and accompanied by ominous music, ‘exposes’ the Hamilton East candidate, Ryan Hamilton, for – wait for it – openly having anti-fluoridation views and opposing the ban on unvaxed ratepayers entering council buildings. The horror!
If this is the true depth of dismisinformation in NZ, I doubt we have much to worry about.
Perhaps RNZ could ferret out another subject to try to spook us with. This one’s a fizzer.

After the poll results from Wellington Central showing the seat has a very real chance of turning Blue, where do Kiwiblog Readers think the other upset results might come from?

I expect some interesting results from the Canterbury area. The race in Wigram will be close, and I think there is a chance that Megan Woods won’t make it over the line there.

Poto Williams was a disaster, so Christchurch East could be in play as well. The Nats have put up Matt Stock, a Career teacher and School rugby coach. Labour have put up a children’s TV Producer.

Christchurch Central could go Blue again, and Ilam should go Blue again.

  Although Wgtn Central is a 3 way race, there are a number of seats in Auckland, Chch and one of the two Dunedin seats may be in play, as well as provincial seats that National have never considered.
  
  Everything comes down to two things:
  1. How many 2020 Labour voters who will vote in 2023 are switching allegiance and where to? And
  2. How many crusted on Labour voters will not vote at all.
  
  Know the above within the bounds of probability and you will know the outcome on 14th October.
  
  For what it is worth, I am expecting an outcome that we have not seen the like of before.

Seems the Nurses pay rise is delayed, funny that. There MECA agreement was due Oct 22 . When agreement was finalised last month it was agreed it would be settled by this week. Apparently there is a “ technical glitch “ and that overdue settlement is delayed till mid November after the election. Was the settlement not funded by Labour ? Don’t tell me it was a fiscal hole in their budgeting, a hole they want the next government to fill for them while they. Claim they have paid nurses so well. Mrs is currently owed backpay for the MECA, the MECA pay rate, back pay for pay equity and back pay for 10 years of underpaid leave!
Nurses have lost faith in their union and in the Government and will be voting accordingly.

A few weeks ago, A petition was presented to parliament asking for a national screening programme for Prostate Cancer

During this campaign, Labour have announce an expansion of existing programmes for Cervical Cancer screening and Breast Cancer Screenings.

A quick search shows that Ministry of Health records about 50 deaths a year from Cervical Cancer and 600 deaths a year from Breast Cancer.

MoH figures on Prostate Cancer deaths are much harder to find, however, organistions like the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Cancer Foundation, as well as Southern Cross, put the figure at about 700 per year.

This is more than Cervical and Breast Cancer combined and yet no screening programme for Prostate Cancer currently exists.

Much is made about Maori being failed by the health system, so is it appropriate to ask why men are being failed as well?

  Just had that, I was lucky I was caught early with the blood test. Ripped it out 2 weeks ago and am coming right but still sore. Dodged a bullet there, get checked everybody it’s well worth it.     Had mine whipped out 7 years ago. I was only checked and diagnosed after a close family member got diagnosed otherwise no doc would have bothered. I was in my late 40’s at the time.
    
    What’s worse is that the Andrew Little, the former minister of health, also has a successful outcome after early detection, but wouldn’t make sure other men had the same benefit that he had.

  Prostate tests start with PSA tests from blood samples. If it is too high you go for a biopsy. Mine was 12 samples with 2 positive for cancer. 6 months later an MRI. 6 months after that another biopsy with general anesthetic. Groin entry. 35 samples and all clear. The original 2 positives are still there. Active surveillance from now on at 12 or 18 month intervals.
  Breast cancer does get a lot of publicity, as does cervical cancer. More prostate advertising is needed. Go get checked guys.
  Another thing is men can get breast cancer.
  Maori failed by health system is another way of enforcing separatism, and it needs to stop. One people remember?

    I found the biopsy to be the worst part of the whole thing. As for enjoyment of life, they are a lot better at saving nerves than they used to be. They give you a truck load of viagra which you can start taking as soon as the catheter comes out. Mine came out last thursday and while not currently working is starting to show signs which is a very good outcome. There are far too many stories around about things never working again and ending up with a bag for life, if you get it early those outcomes are very unlikely. Get checked regularly is all I can say.

Nigel has terminal cancer…..it’s ‘unfair’ that Freddy doesn’t have terminal cancer….should the state terminate Freddy’s life so that everything is ‘fair’? Jane gets paid more than Tina….how is that ‘fair’?
Everything will have to be standardised, because Leftists can’t stand the thought that someone might have more than them and it’s all so ‘unfair’.

You’ll note that in these Social utopia’s that come into being via bloody revolution or Leftists seizing power, the ‘workers’ lives are usually ones of unrelenting toil and woe amidst appalling living standards, while bureaucrats and party fat cats hoover up what little wealth is generated. Yet the rationale given for these cesspools of human misery is that life has to be ‘fair’ for ‘exploited’ workers. Irony!

Who are the poor down-trodden ‘workers’ of today. No, not coal miners emerging from the pit or vast pools of factory labourers working 18 hour days for a tuppence an hour…..baristas, uber drivers, web designer, retail store staff, farmhands, forklift drivers, Wendy that cheerfully delivers your mail, hair dressers…..hardly the Socialist archetype of the ‘poor downtrodden exploited workers’. I wonder of any of these people would exchange their current high living standards for a ‘fair’ Socialist horror show where living standards collapse but at least we all get to live in a standardised 3 bedroom hovel.

I couldn’t help thinking: how quaint. Forty years ago Labour abandoned the worker in favour of the tastes, mores, and sensitivities of the new middle classes.
They forsook concerns about jobs, wages, and conditions for the new racism that included identity politics and a new ‘progressivism’.
Unborn babies were to be killed so that women could be free to realise their potential in the social place and the work place.
Now, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, Labour (even if she didn’t realise it) Labour has remembered working-class New Zealanders and hoping that those Kiwis will forget the last 40 years when their concerns were lost.

Police put out a media alert this morning for a wanted Waikato man….out on bail pending his court case for murder.

Seems the poor wee dear has absconded while on bail. The police in their media release said:
1. the abscondee should not be approached if seen by the public (seems he is of a violent disposition),
2. That he is on bail awaiting a court hearing for serious crimes (the press release didn’t actually say he is accused of murder).

Just one question, what dip sh*t judge thought it was a good idea to have a gang associate, accused of murder out on bail awaiting the court case?

Has the judiciary totally lost the plot?

Any threats against judges could be the type of thing the Police HQ would ignore.

      As I understand it SCG is no longer holding meetings in public venues, instead they are held in private homes, often livestreamed.
      
      While this allows meetings to be held without disruption it’s obviously a victory for the forces of oppression. SCG has been hounded from the public square.

  There are drivers on the roads in NZ who deliberately use their cars to force cyclists off the road either with a physical push with their car, by means of close “punishment” passes or turning in front of them and cutting them off. Many cyclists are killed or have life altering injuries as a result and the drivers walk away with a slap on the wrist.
  
  Irrespective of your views of cyclists they are legal road users, are somebody’s father, mother, son or daughter, and as an overtaking driver it is your responsibility to ensure it is safe to pass one.

In Christchurch yesterday I inadvertently bumped into someone I know from Wellington. Works in govt sector etc.said she was enjoying her visit, loving the chch rebuild, how great it was “but I could never live here. There’s such a lack of [shudders visibly] diversity”.

I know this will bring out the nay sayers, but I feel strongly because a fundamental principle is involved.

The MSM reports Chris Luxon today saying that ‘Ryan Hamilton’s previous remarks were “entirely inappropriate” and “wrong”, and the candidate’s views now mirror the party’s stance, which is to support the Ministry of Health’s management of fluoridation.’.

The opinion expressed, or the rights and wrongs, are not the point. MMP came along to try and incorporate the range of views of society, better than what FPP did, where there was free reigh by one ruling party. Sadly the same style of government was accidentally created during the pandemic, so we should allbe aware of teh dangers.

What we have here is an electorate MP whose prime responsibility is to his electorate, and primarily stands on his personal reputation and good standing to get elected, supported by a Party. The Party then should represent the coming together of all the MP’s, bringing their unique and individual brand from all over the country, to represent their electorate in Parliament – the “House of Representatives”. IMHO it should not be the “House of Parties”.

Instead in this case, we have a Party leader exercising total control over the opinions and attitude a member of their party may have, without accommodating the individuality that is required for the member to be a representative of the electorate. As it happens, outliers are always outvoted, so for any fringe viewpoints, they do not have a great effect. What we get then are cookie-cutter clones, not electorate representation.

What could, and in my mind SHOULD have happened, is that Luxon’s should have responded: “our party is based on democratic principles, and our MP’s bring a unique and diverse range of viewpoints, all based around our core party principles, from every part of New Zealand to the House of Representatives, where they get tested in Select Committees and wider public consultation.”

He could also have added: “While I do not personally agree with Mr Hamilton’s views, I respect his right to express his individuality, and to represent his electorate in any way he feels necessary.”

Luxon is taking National down a line that causes division – the very mistake that Ardern made. I think it is safe to say National have a better track record on economic management, and a healthy majority want that. But in other matters they really need to be more accepting.

  Exactly right. An elected MP answers primarily to the electorate. It is their job to represent the concerns of their electorate whether or not those go against party policy.
  
  List MPs are a different matter. They are counting tokens for the party and don’t need to have opinions.

  PV for household roofs are a terrible investment for a country, they cost several times as much as a larger scale grid installation.
  
  And batteries are just dumb waste for a country with so much hydro.
  
  More sensible to do installations on farms making use of existing large transformers to feed into grid. Or do large grid scale installations that are a lot cheaper to build.

One of my, many, objections to co-governance is the false argument advanced by some that the appointing of certain privileged Maori to governance positions will somehow, magically, result in better lives being lived by all Maori.

How? They never say. Not once have I seen any analysis of exactly how this is supposed to occur. Nor in what measure, nor by when.

We are just supposed to take it as fact. Well I’m sorry, I don’t.

I in fact argue that there is no necessary correlation between political representation and the prosperity and welfare of a sub-population. None.

Lately I’ve seen a few articles about how “it’s essential for the welfare of our Asian communities that they have greater representation in our political bodies.”

But not once have I ever seen in these articles mention of the great big elephant in the room – that, as an example, our Indian and Chinese communities, now present and thriving in NZ for over 150 years; that they have thrived and prospered in the effective total absence of any political representation at all! At a national level, my understanding is that we’ve had no Indian nor Chinese MPs at all until only recently – and at a local level we have had very, very little and again only relatively recently. But they haven’t let that stop them. They thrive regardless. Why? Well I’m sure it has much to do on building lines NOT reliant on government – preferring to rely solely on the efforts of themselves and their families and their communities to get ahead.

I think once again the emperor has no clothes. We are just being bullshitted to, or more correctly Maori are. Maori believe this crap about the purported benefits of co-governance at their peril in my view. I think it a mirage. A chimera. They will be setting themselves up for great disappointment and dare I say anger when the supposed benefits never materialise.

Oh, some will benefit. It will be those who are already successful or connected. It will be they and they alone who will receive the appointments and the dough. Joe and Jane Hohepa down the farm, the forestry, the fishing boat or processing factory, the orchard or the packhouse, they won’t see one bit of change – except in their pay packets, they’ll be a bit lighter after all the new taxes to pay for it all.

We and they are being sold a pup.

A primary school in Perth has come under fire after its young students were instructed to create “distressing” activity dice as Father’s Day gifts earlier this month.

As reported by Nine, students at Connolly Primary School in Perth’s northern suburbs were given dice templates to colour in and personalise for their dads or father figures for Father’s Day, which is observed on the first Sunday of September.

So weird that Simon Dallow only managed to go back 7 years through the Antarctic sea ice record to find that some low extents occurred during that time.
If he’d thought to go back two more years he would have been able to tell us the good news that the highest extent since 1979 happened in 2014.
It’s almost like he’s not giving us the full story for some reason.
