Woman’s possible 5-year exclusion from real estate for protest against Māori values program ‘cultural wokeness’ – Winston Peters

Having refused to take the Te Kākano course, Dickson was facing a five-year licence cancellation by the Real Estate Authority (REA).

The REA noted that “in order to keep their license, licensees must meet continuing education requirements” as set out by the Real Estate Agents Act 2008.

As it is now 2024, in the years since the Real Estate Agents Act 2008, how many courses have been run, which are compulsory continuing education requirements, and what have they been on?

And while understandably there is an offence in discriminating against people on grounds of race or “religious world view” is there not an equal offence of raising a race above all others?
Aryanism is an ideology of racial supremacy which views the supposed ~~Aryan~~ Maori race as a distinct and superior racial group which is entitled to rule the rest of humanity.

And how far can such Aryanism be based on the kindergarten sand-pit law of the jungle that “we were here first”? Or that we have greater affinity with the sand-pit than you do.

      Grunter: It’s not only everywhere but it is persuasive – and not just for those directly exposed to it. I had a mate – oldest friend outside of school. He used to be very scathing of “the cuzzie bros” until he took up with a woman who works in some capacity with the Auckland Council.
      
      Every meeting my ex friend’s girlfriend takes part in has to begin and end with a karakia, and everyone – including the very white D – has to recite their whakapapa.
      
      A year or two of being exposed to that, and my “fuck the cuzzie bros” ex friend is now, in his words – “very support of D’s Maori language journey”
      
      (Oh and he’s an ex friend because D utterly changed him to a degree I would never have thought possible. Fat evil bitch that she is).

      The pressure will be being put on her by the Liemore Pardy to front up and do a big apology. The reason being is that she is embedded in Wn and is viewed by the Pardy as “core left wing”. The risk in doing so will be that she will be further exposed as a nasty cow, but of course that is part of being “core left wing”.

  Today’s Herald, reporter Kirsty Wynn , has a piece on this.
  
  It quotes 3 real estate agents , all in favour of the course. One even saying ” Pushing back will only end in a disaster for you that’s for sure.” Another is reported as initially against the course , but doing it had changed her view ( now she loves Big Brother) and one agent , the report goes to pains to tell us is very succesful ,one Tama Emery of Proud Maori is extensively quoted about the wonderfulness of all this.
  
  Who is not reported as having been asked for comment is Dickson herself .Odd as she was a guest on HDPA last night . One of her concerns is that as a Christian the course , she says , requires one to accept a maori spiritual view ( paraphrasing) Odd that our intrepid reporter saw fit not to include that in her piece.
  
  And the editor is clearly on board as the story is accompanied by an Emmerson cartoon ( surprise surprise) Showing presumably Dickson telling someone “I’d rather enrich my lawyer than enrich my cultural skill set” . Which of course misses the point entirely , but they know that don’t they.
  
  Coincidentally all this ties in beautifully with Karl du Fresne’s last blog on the state of our media . Gatekeeping , opinionated and compromised by driving agenda rather than presenting “news”.

  It’s time to ditch entire Ministries.
  
  Time to sell assets (eg Landcorp – why is the Govt our largest farmer?). Sell TVNZ and RNZ. Sell Air NZ. The State has no reason to be involved.
  
  And it’s time to over ride the entire RMA with emergency fast tracking to get the private sector cracking. Declare an economic emergency that requires urgent private investment.
  
  Stop all school lunches. Stop fees free University. Stop all the Global Boiling funding. Stop cycleways. Drain the sihtty Wellington swamp big time.
  
  Do all that and we would be in surplus with a reduced debt burden overnight. None of the above is complicated.

    It is the equivalent of borrowing against your (and my) house and investing in the US and other sharemarkets

    Nats did have a policy to sell farms to young farmers in nz, you have to remember where ldndcorp came from. They were the lands and serevey arm of farming, the land use to be used for testing, for trials, and much of that still happens, but lately they have bought farms that are too expensive for other NZers too pay for, its possibly better than foreigners buying our large scale farms

      Landcorp got the crap land that was not pretty enough for DoC, when the old Dept of Lands was cut up. They have invested in the land to turn into good farming land. They also have some economies of scale – sending animals up & down the country depending on where the grass (rain) is & what the schedule payments look like.
      
      Landcorp also hold land in anticipation of treaty settlements.

    Re LandCorp … Reality is that the Government has to manage a lot of land (by default any land that is not owned by someone else is basically owned by the Crown).
    
    Much of that land is national parks and conservation estate, so the Crown has DoC to manage that land.
    
    Another large portion of that land is farmland, so the Crown has LandCorp to manage that part of its landholdings.
    
    LandCorp has about 125 farms. Some of them are good quality farmland, and those farms make a good profit. But much of it (more than half by number, not sure about by area) is poor quality farmland that private sector farmers don’t want because it wouldn’t be sufficiently profitable. A lot of those farms came into Govt ownership because the private sector farmers walked off the land.
    
    Basically, within Landcorp, the profits from the good farms cover the losses from the bad farms. After that all that’s left is a relatively small profit.
    
    National has, in the past, said it would sell off LandCorp’s farms. But, pragmatically, all they would be able to sell is the good quality farms.
    
    Sure, they’d have some one-off sales proceeds, but let’s be realistic … politicians would blow that money within a year or two on whatever was their current fad (Provincial Growth Fund II anybody?). And then we the taxpayer would be left with the costs/losses from continuing to have to operate the poor quality farms. I’m not sure how that’s a good outcome for us taxpayers?

    That’s not a huge surprise because the consistent history of the airline industry is airlines going from profitable to bankrupt to bail-out to profitable to bankrupt to …
    
    I was involved in the 2002 recapitalisation of Air NZ. The rationale was simple … the externalities to NZ Inc from Air New Zealand ceasing operations were so profound that the Government had no choice but to step in and recapitalise it.
    
    I’ve heard all the common theories, and none of them were true. Singapore Airlines blinked and clearly weren’t going to put any more money in. No other private sector funders were prepared to do it either (we talked with lots of them). It was a simple choice between (a) Government stepping in or (b) Air New Zealand ceasing operations.
    
    The Govt couldn’t allow Air NZ to cease operations because its the main travel option for business & personal travel within New Zealand, and between NZ and the rest of the world. If that stopped, even for a week, the economic impact on NZ was huge.
    
    This is where Government’s financial interests are different to private sector investors’ financial interests. Private sector investors talk about externalities, which have no value to them. Governments don’t have externalities … they have, must have, a much wider view of value

Credit where credit is due. This is an interesting and informative story that highlights a problem with EQC’s operative legislation. Despite being about storms and land, neither climate change nor Maori’s special relationship with land are mentioned; nor are Maori words pepperpotted through.

I’m tempted to whiffle on about how enjoyable it was to read old style journalism, or how the journalist will be lucky to survive the coming purge, but will leave it there.

How is it that such ideological uniformity can come about in what are supposedly sovereign democratic nations, where it would be reasonable to expect some heterogeneity?
    
    How is this any different from the “consensus” espoused by all states in the USSR (and where any leaders who went off script were swiftly replaced or otherwise deposed)?
    
    Is this because in a “liberal democracy” there is no actual popular sovereignty at all, and it is as much a uniform set of top-down ideas that is supported by lies and propaganda as much as any “un-democratic” state?

  I think the coalition is doing really well. They have repealed three waters. They have a plan in place to replace three waters. They are getting on with getting rid of the Maori Health Authority. They are working with vim and vigour over this hundred days to repeal so much of Labour’s legislative agenda. I think they are doing what they campaigned on.
  
  In the face of the hostility of the mainstream media and the fact that many New Zealanders are very woke, they have been going great guns.

    Catholic schools used to be private, but they were on the verge of collapse in the early seventies until they were integrated into the state system
    As it happens if you have the money you can send your kids to a private school if you’re unhappy with the state system, as we did with half of ours.
    Also within the state system there is a big variation between what was formerly known as decile 1 & decile 10.

      Catholic schools were private only in the sense that they were set up and supported by Catholic families. The staff were nuns, brothers & priests who devoted their lives to educating Catholic children, while families helped build the schools, fund raised through fairs, housie and bottle drives. The fees were always tiny, compared to private schools.
      
      By the 60s leading into the 70s it was clear that the model was no longer sustainable. Everything from falling vocations, a wider understanding of Catholic mission post Vatican 2, changing expectations among families & inflation pointed in one direction. It was recognised by politicians of all stripes that Catholics paid tax and deserved a state funded education – bear in mind that the State had been getting a free ride for 15-20% of pupils.
      
      Integration means that the State pays operational costs (ie teacher salaries) while the Proprietor (ultimately the Catholic Cardinal of NZ) owns the assets (land & buildings).
      
      Nowadays Catholic schools still charge fees, but from what I’ve read they seem to charge less than at least some state schools – think the nominally state school Auckland Grammar.

Well, I know my partner and me are certainly doing our bit for them. God knows how many families are out there with unplanned and unwanted kids.

Instead of always trying to load the remedy onto hard working taxpayers, what’s needed is for a government that is prepared to make the hard decisions, and introduce measures that will actually eliminate the root cause of the problem.

    That is a very good question. Maybe the root cause of children in poverty has been identified somewhere in the world. Or even in our country. If so, what is it?
    
    Root cause analysis is a structured discipline. It gets to the root cause when there are no more questions.
    
    And that is the point where solutions can be tested against the root cause in case the answers are to the wrong questions. There’s a lot of that about these days.

        The reality is that even if some parents/families received a state funded income of $5000+ per week, it wouldn’t necessarily be spent on the children’s needs and futures.
        That is just the way it rolls with self absorbed adults.
        There needs to be a way of trying to ensure that money paid out by the state for the benefit of children in need is actually spent for that purpose – not used to buy alcohol, drugs, gambling, new TV’s/play stations and dog food. Some people feed their dogs more than they give their kids.
        I do not know how that can be solved, but giving cash to useless parents for their kids does not seem to be fixing much does it?
        So long as the adults feel that it is “their money”, they will use it for their own “needs” and a lot of kids will stay in poverty.
        And the rest of us will have to keep paying out for free food in schools as well as food for the adults and their dogs.

        The answer is easy, and that is real jobs for anyone able to do them. Not only do the wages lift people out of poverty, they engender a sense of self worth in the worker.
        
        One of the cruelest part of a life on the dole is the spiritual poverty that accompanies it – the idea that the recipient as a non contributor has no value as a person. It’s a fallacy, of course – we all have innate worth – but it’s easiest demonstrated through working.

    While simplistic, it cannot be denied that we live in a society with heavily capitalist underpinnings (and by “capitalist” I mean ubiquitous usury, not free-markets), and therefore the problems we have are either directly or indirectly derived from those underpinnings.
    
    It’s irrelevant that under the earlier stages of capitalism wealth increased and initially things seemed liked they could go on forever, but capitalism eating itself and taking society down with it was as inevitable as a newborn being destined to die eventually.
    
    What does “Agenda 2030” entail other than a radical reset of the current system by the present elite, motivated by a recognition that the old system has entered its end-times, as was inevitable from the outset?
    
    Once all the debt created under capitalism becomes impossible to repay, or even service the interest, things have to drastically change, one way or another.

  Nope. Her filing in response seems pretty clear. Her filing also raises a very interesting question about how Mike Roman got hold of her cellphone records, given you would typically need a warrant to do that and he is in no position to get one.
  
  Might also pay to stop referring to 2000 Mules. The group behind the allegations in that movie, True The Vote, was subpoenaed for the evidence they said stood behind their claims. In the end, after a lot of twisting and obfuscating, just last week they finally came out and said they didn’t have any such evidence. So basically it was all a big lie.

The boom continues for technology company Nvidia, whose booming share price was discussed on Kiwiblog yesterday. The sharemarket value of the company has briefly topped $US2 trillion ( about three and a quarter trillion NZ dollars).

The Wall Street Journal says it took Nvidia’s first 24years as a public company for sharemarket value to reach $US1 trillion, and eight months to reach the second trillion. It’s now America’s third richest company. Microsoft and Apple are the richest.

The shares drifted down later in US Friday trading to $US788.18.

NVidia’s share-price surge is driven by demand for its chips in artificial-intelligence hardware.

  They are riding a surge because the currently have fastest AI chips (H200), But AMD, Intel, Google, Amazon, Tesla, Apple, and many other are all coming up with competing designs and are hard on their heels and all of them (including Nvidia) outsource chip production to TMSC or Samsung (the real winners with cutting edge smallest feature size chip manufacturing) with Intel close behind.

He has just asked the judge to allow an unsecured stay…I guess Trump’s buddy Musk wasn’t interested in being Trumps bondsman?

Perhaps Puten can send a few Trumps way, at least more than the Chinese did at just 5 million…cheap insurance the GOP will keep working for Russian interests.

      Not exactly, they have announced a 250m GBP investment in the factory making 155mm shells, they won’t all be going to Ukraine.
      Going into the third year of the Russo-Ukrainian war and the British government has written a cheque and made a statement that its single artillery ammunition production facility will be placed on a war time footing.
      There are massive problems all across the western military industrial production base, short of a miracle they won’t be solved for at least another generation.

We’ve got really wonderful neighbors.
Everyone is sooo quite and tend to keep to themselves. Surrounded by high fences and trees on all boundaries. Don’t think we’ve even seen the old couple on our southern side since lockdown. But that’s how we all like it.

So can’t be too critical of others either….
