  I’m not sure what your point is. New Zealanders were coerced to be vaccinated for COVID. This was justified the claim that the vaccine stopped transmission, which it never did. Indeed Pfizer admitted subsequently that the vaccine had never been tested for its effectiveness in stopping transmission.

    Then there was gross negligence on the part of her advisors – DG of Health, MoH, etc. because that means they did not do due diligence in assessing the “vaccine”. But in the end the buck stops with her. She was the PM, it was her who pushed the fear and the “safe and effective” narrative and embarked on the process of coercion and punishing those who did not do as she said.
    
    And now we are reaping the rewards of being good citizens with increases in cardiovascular disease, malignancies, autoimmune disease, neurological disease and others. They will not be able to continue the deceit much longer as more and more gets exposed by researchers – not that you would know it unless you are reading their scientific papers.
    
    In today’s Herald is a report on a boy who died within 2 weeks of getting the vaccination. Everything in that piece does its best to deflect from the vaccine being the cause. The pathologist quoted is either uninformed and not up to date or is lying. A simple stain that is now commercially available would have differentiated the “small amount of myocarditis” found around the nodes that initiate and control the depolarisation of the heart muscle (ie rate and rhythm) between virus and vaccine. Was it done? Who knows but it would be negligent if it wasn’t.

    It wasn’t very subsequent. I knew when I chose not to get it that it didn’t stop transmission. The world knew. So no excuses for not “doing some of your own research” if you were uncertain.

    There was coercion for many who would lose employment without it. But many (many here on KB also) took it to get papers to go out for coffee or the theatre or the swimming pool. That’s not coercion, that is supplication.
    
    Many took it because they felt it was the morally superior thing to do to protect the weak and the elderly. In their eyes anyone who wouldn’t take it was demonic or a tin foil hat wearer. I still remember seeing people wearing tin foil hats to mock the teachers protest on Dominion Rd.
    
    If we had stood strong on our bill of human rights we would have respected each others medical privacy, respected that taking a medical treatment particularly an experimental one should involve fully informed consent without coercion and stood up to the tyranny of sacking people for not taking it and absolutely refused to carry papers to show so called superior level of citizenship.
    
    My greatest disappointment from the Covid fiasco is not the betrayal of the media or politicians but the sheer number of people who didn’t stand up against the tyranny. I respect people who made the choice to take the vaccine to continue to put food on their family table. But I can’t respect those that happily carried the identity card and participated in the exclusion of the unwashed from society.

    While not being financially involved, I was at the top of decision making in the running of the Company with the two Directors.
    I did not need to ask permission to grab an asset deal. Hiring and firing also came into it. Actions were rarely questioned.

  I served in the military and managers were anointed(promoted) based on suckup ability. Yep I never got fast track promotion except when I applied to leave at the end of my 12 years. Suddenly they realized my worth? haha and offered me a 4 step jump.
  
  Then I got in to free enterprise business, where promotion was on merit(generally). The good managers were great leaders. Yep got lots of promotions. 🙂

        Bligh was regarded as an exceptional navigator and sailor. Cook hand-picked him as the navigator in Cook’s last voyage, and Bligh was praised for leading the expedition back to the UK after Cook died in Hawaii.
        
        Must have been a prick of a person though. Not just the mutiny on the Bounty … his behaviour led to a rebellion when he was the Governor of NSW.

I see Richard Dawkins has regrets.

He’s gone from “Mock them! Ridicule them” to “Christianity is a fundamentally decent religion”, although he’s still happy that there are less believing Christians.

It appears in his case that it’s mostly because he dislikes Islam and wokeness, which are filling the void there.

I wonder if he’ll ever get around to linking the abandonment of Christianity to the increasingly obvious civilisation-wide suicide of the West.

Unbelief took the helm of the ship and has crashed it within 50 years, after 1500 years of progress (and exactly as Christians would predict, and eerily similar to how Judges unfolded).

  IIRC Dawkins was referring to a “Christian Culture”.
  
  Wikipedia defines this as
  
  “all the cultural practices which have developed around the religion of Christianity”.
  
  Most would agree that the regular weekly churchgoing traditions are fading, as is the belief of a “man in the sky” who we have to pray to, to get any benefit in life.
  
  What has been retained of the Christian religion is the basis of our culture (I would like to think anyway) of intelligent thought, compassion, and real kindness – not the faux type exhibited by the previous PM who was an inveterate liar and deceitful – but the sort of genuine kiwi help for one’s neighbour, given without need for recognition. Like the philanthropists such as Wayne and the late Chloe Wright here in the BOP, using their resources to better our lives.
  
  When you look at our society we see so much good that has come from these Christian traditions. There is a genuine attempt to help those who break the rules to mend their ways, rather than simply “chopping their hands off”. Or throwing them off buildings, or locking them away for decades in remote, ice bounds gulags.
  
  So to deny our Christian heritage is to deny so many things that we take for granted. Even the typefaces I’m using here as I type can be traced back to the Gutenberg Bible.
  
  Over time the bad aspects decline, leaving the good. And it is important to respect our origins. Despite the decline of our weekly visits to church to pray for forgiveness, I find most people still believe in some form of higher power beyond our human ken. Even Einstein, who rejected the “man in the sky view” stated
  
  “the highest principles for our aspirations and judgments are given to us in the Jewish-Christian religious tradition”.
  
  I fear that in a rush for progressive change, we are being set up to change this for a Marxist, totalitarian regime, that the likes of Messers Schwab, Soros, Ardern would have us believe was the promised land.

    Another reason to reject “multiculturalism” , that seeks to put all cultures on an equal or even higher footing than our culture ; that as you say has brought us so much .
    
    Including the crucial and central notion of the autonomy of the individual , made ( whether you believe the faith aspect or not) in the image of God , with free will and a conscience.
    
    From this tradition via various routes also came our democratic traditions and notions of freedom.
    
    Mess with that at our peril.

      Interesting observation in the new Takanini Countdown, almost all couples shopping are not in mixed race relationships, they are indian with to indian, islander with islander, white with white etc. In other words no matter how much diversity/multi culture is pushed onto us most people are still most comfortable with people of their own race. This doesn’t mean they are racist just that they are most comfortable with the culture, class and race they have grown up with.

      My essential point is that our western society evolved out of a period of intense Christian Church influence, and while the “church” part has diminished, we have retained many of the good parts as regards how our society operates – and I appreciate there is still a way to go in some areas.         Lenticles, I look at Japan and do not see the “glue” of Abrahamic religion being the cause of their general societal cohesion and lack of nihilism, loose morals, or love of socialism. No society is perfect (EG 1950s “Christian” West had a lot of dirt and ugliness going on under the hood too).

A healthy 13-year-old who unexpectedly died 10 days after receiving a vaccination against Covid-19 had a “microscopic” amount of myocarditis in a crucial part of his heart.

A coroner said the myocarditis – inflammation of the heart muscle – could have been caused by viruses found in the Wellington boy’s heart tissue, but due to the short period of time since his immunisation, the vaccine could not be ruled out as a possible cause.

    I have spent over a half century in frontline medicine – (Casualty, then A&E, then ER, then ED – depending on the nomenclature in current fashion) and I have never seen the current rate/incidence of Sudden Adult Death as in the last 2+ years. Ask any other emergency doc of decades’ standing…
    
    We never even had a S.A.D diagnostic category FFS! We tragically had S.I.D.S. (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) but we never needed one for adults!!! Until now.

Did a few miles on North Island roads before and over Easter. A couple of observations……
1. Some roadworks/upgrades are taking far too long. Work at Atiamuri dam and Taupiri on Hamilton bypass SH1, for example.
2. Often a long section is under reconstruction but few machines and few workers are present. Is this firms holding down too much work?
3. Where work was underway there were trucks with staff sitting inside apparently doing nothing.
4. When there are temporary lights controlling traffic why is it necessary to have a staff person present as well?

  I drove the Waikato Expressway the Sunday before Easter. I think it is the best bit of infrastructure I have been on inthe last 30 years. OK, there was a bit on a holdup In a couple of places, but to drive from Newmarket to the other side of Cambridge, in an hour and 25 mins is just brilliant.
  Probably most of the incentive came from the National government 2oo8 to 2017.
  Just another thing….. schools don’t only have the problem of mobile phones, road and building works have the same problem.
  Also the infernal “Health and Safety” procedures have got out of hand too.

  All out construction work is far to slow. We all pay the price in terms of delay and dollar cost.
  
  The bridge in the US that was recently destroyed is expected to cost around $400m USD ($670m NZD) to repair. FFS the US is regarded as expensive and slow but we would struggle to build a few kms of motorway on ground for that.

They don’t seem to be happy. Trump may put a 10% Tax on imports.
One thing not mentioned is NATO. AFAIK the US can not leave NATO, but they can bring down their contribution. Freeloading Europe does not want to pay their way.

    That is partially true, but not 100% true when there are subsidies etc to tilt the playing field.
    
    Why do we eat so much Canadian pork in NZ? Is it because NZ port producers are inefficient? Nope, it is because there is an oversupply of Canadian pork due to massive subsidies in Canada creating product cheaper than they could on a level playing field.

      For decades NZ had some sort of tax on all sorts of items to protect the home market effectively banning the import of electronic items, white ware, anything that was manufactured or assembled here
      Consequently we paid outrageous prices for TVs, stereos and the like
      I heard a guy on the radio who made a fortune from assembling TVs. He said it cost him more to import the bits for his factory than it would have cost to import whole sets.

        There is a delicate balance between trying to compensate for subsidies and true protectionism.
        
        I would argue that protecting local industry (eg. old TV sets) is problematic, but putting up tarrifs against subsidised production (like Canadian pork) is less of a problem.
        
        Just keeping people in jobs should never be the goal because it ends up subsidising the non-productive at the expense of the productive.

        What’s omitted (as the left do) is that Muldoon ruled in the age which was mostly before the mass deployment of computers. Post WW2 up to the 80s nearly everything was very labour intensive (compared to now). Systems were generally paper based except for the very core of large entities (they had mainframe computers which were very expensive and also relatively weak compared to todays’ computers). That situation required a lot of people in the workforce.
        The mass redundancies I saw in the 80s were largely effected through the use of replacing people with technology. I also initially worked in an area of “the public service”. There were the “gliding on” type slackers but they were a minority. The jobs that were there weren’t just made up “digging holes and filling them in” type roles. Massive technology shifts though allowed the entity to cull about a third of the workforce in the 80s. More big cuts followed over the years.
        
        I would guess that you would see the same cataclysmic shifts in public service numbers post Muldoon era in other similar countries (EG Australia).

        I think I could make a far more valid case for having hospitals specially built for tall people than for Pacific people.
        
        Us tall people don’t fit into hospital beds properly therefore we really need longer beds, longer operating tables, etc etc. We really need a medical department for tall people. Sure, the hospital will also cater for short people, but it will be designed for tall people.
        
        That makes far more sense than having pacific health centres.

TVNZ last night pushing for a substantial increase in the ‘Living Wage’.
The Living Wage is calculated and published by an outfit called the New Zealand Family Centre Social Policy Unit (a fancy title for Charles Waldergrave’s buddies, operating out of Lower Hutt).
The Labour Govt committed many Govt departments to pay this ‘living wage’ to cleaners etc.
You have to admire this Policy Unit for their influence. I’d be interested in how much the ‘Living Wage Executive Director’, interviewed last night, is paid, and by whom. Where is their funding from ?

2021, A healthy 13 year old boy dies of myocarditis 10 days after taking the vaccine a known symptom of the vaccine.. He also had some other unnamed viruses that also cause myocarditis. The article doesn’t name the viruses but says that Myocarditis is a side effect of covid. So lets assume he had covid. Coroner says cause is uncertain

13 years old. My heart breaks.

Thoughts:

* We are only being told he died in 2024. years after they forced the vaccination and boosters on all the other young men. The media should have told us he died, promptly after his death. And we should have known he had taken the vaccine and his covid status. The public had a right to know and to be informed. Is withholding the death of a fellow participant in a medical experiment, illegal, unethical?

* Cramner showed the science advice to Cabinet was not to double vaccinated young people due to myocarditis. And not to mandate them.

* Why don’t they name the virus that they think is responsible. Did he have covid after being vaccinated for covid?

* The public were barred from private RAT tests. How many people already had covid when we were vaccinated.

RIP little man. This should never have happened.

  However, the risk of contracting myocarditis from COVID itself is orders of magnitude greater than the risk of contracting myocarditis as a vaccine side effect.

The mortality rates for the vaccinated are consistently lower than for the unvaccinated. End of story. It is insane that I need to deal with this debate 3 years on. I have had 6 x covid vaccine jabs.   It is about the same size as any medium medical centre in Auckland. It might be better to make some entry barrier changes (ala banks) and spend the money on doctor/nurse so people don’t linger long in reception.

    That crap hit the boomers in their teens and 20s. But they were used to being fed properly at home. It was generally an occasional treat at that time. Plus they were not the couch potato computer/smartphone generation. They were out and about doing physical stuff a lot of the time.
    
    It’s quite possible that rising obesity/diabetes (due to shit convenience-eating) and lack of exercise could see the longevity trend reversing with subsequent generations. If not that, perhaps greater levels of chronic disease starting at earlier ages.

  Why are we running out of money for Medicare and not for welfare?

What is up with the media? Got to work sexual deviancy into the news every opportunity they get. Plenty of New Zealanders in Taiwan and on social media who are not narcissistic kink lords, but nope. . . got to dig up a one man freak show and crowbar him into the ‘news’.

    I’m not upset, just noting the media’s curious obsession with drag queens. They could have just referenced this guy as “a New Zealander in Taiwan”, like they did with all the other New Zealanders in Taiwan who subsequently got a mention in the same piece.
    
    First up was “Kiwi drag queen” (gratuitous insertion of sex stuff into a story that is not about sex stuff)
    
    Then later in the same piece we had:
    
    “Taipei resident Hsien-hsuen Keng” (no sex stuff)
    
    “One Kiwi in Taiwan’s capital Taipei” (no sex stuff)
    
    “Kiwi woman Delphine Herbert” and her “partner” (no sex stuff)
    
    and “Air New Zealand spokesperson” (no sex stuff)

    I had a bit of a laugh today. Was at the ED, as I was leaving two woman were walking in, talking loudly. One said to the other, “the Dr will be surprised when he sees I’ve got a penis”. I walked away having a good laugh.

I put it down to her genes, but my friend heard she had to stop taking Ozempic
due to the cronic fatigue and constipation she’s been experiencing.

Out for dinner in Wellington and a guy at the table next to me is moaning because he needs to top up his daughters student allowance so she can live.

To top it off claims students shouldn’t have to work to pay for their study or end up with debt doing so

He looks like his daughter would be doing a BA in Humanities so unlikely to ever move off the minimum wage anyway
