Ad Agency sues Maine blogger

April 30th, 2006 at 9:46 am by David Farrar

A Maine blogger, Lance Dutson, pointed out on his website that some draft adevrtisements for the state tourism agency had the phone number of a sex line on them.

The advertising agency involved, Warren Kremer Paino Advertising, is suing for defamation, seeking over $1 million in damages.

Bloggers from all over are highlighting the case, which will result in 1,000 times more publicity for what the ad agency did, than if they had not sued.

An interesting lesson in how blogs are now effectively showing that the wagons can circle the indians.I understand there is a US website set up like a speadsheet to allow bloggers to log info on national and local people that is revealing hitherto unknown facts that in turn reveal links that may explain unexplained results like contract awards/appointments etc. This was an unexpected consequence of Bush & Co being found out illegal wiretapping and generally spying on citizens. What does this hold for the establishment and others in the future, thay may have more resources than an individual but how will they enjoy fighting the combined resources and ideas of 100 ro 1000 bloggers – the days of unreasonable use of power without consequences by Big everything is ending.
