A Labour MP on why unions wil be exempt!
April 18th, 2007 at 12:19 pm by David FarrarThis is stunning. Listen to Labour MP Shane Jones on Newstalk ZB this morning.
The host was interviewing Katherine Rich and Shane Jones on the proposed electoral law changes and restrictions on third parties. He then asked Shane Jones
“Why would you exempt Unions?”
The reply from Mr Jones:
“They’re valuable and long term supporters of ours etc”
If you do not believe me click on the link above and go to 1:40 minutes through. I mean one has to commend Mr Jones for his honest answer, but doesn’t this prove what the motivation behind these changes are – to benefit their supporters and hurt their opponents?

Which part of conflict of interest dont these dumb arse politicans understand Do we have to spell it out in capital letters for them. You are conflicted in this matter and the principles of good governance require that you dont take part in any decision just like you at least understand you dont take part in deciding your own renumeration.
We not they should be the deciders.Surely even the most craven Socialist supporters can understand the reasons for these long standing principles. Then again given the hopeless state of corporate governance with many directors blind to what constitutes good governance one should not be surprised.

But David, unions will only be exempt when communicating with their members, as will companies, Federated Farmers, the Anglican Church and the Exclusive Brethren.
What’s wrong with that, other than Shane Jones being an idiot?
Vote:April 18th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Tane – it will depend on how wide the loophole is. Will they allow TV adverts aimed at union members. If all it allows is a private communication, then maybe not an issue.
I think Mr Jones has nicely explained the motivation for the loophole!
Vote:April 18th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
Tane Wilton, but with Labour making comments such as ‘Unions communicating with their members through full-page newspaper advertisements’ it is very concerning as to where you draw the line.
The key point here is not Shane Jones being an idiot, it is that Shane Jones IS the idiot that’s making the decisions that clearly he has a major interest in.
If you’re right about the exemption (and you may well be) why not give it an independent or cross-party review body with an open and transparent process?
Vote:April 18th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Tane W, take the prise for Fuckwit of The Week. Companies don’t have members.
If Labour proposed making fornication with sheep compulsory you would find a reason to justify it.

It’s easy to be a pinko and show compassion by spending someone elses money.
Notice the unwillingness of the Labour MPs to reach into their own pockets and repay the $800k of stolen public money ?
Vote:April 18th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
Who knows what Labour intends. It’s been secrets, leaks and backroom deals. If only they would actually put proposals to the public, or to parliament, to allow them to be scrutinised in a proper democratic manner.
Vote:April 18th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
The Labour Party is a wholly owned subsidiary of the trade unions and not surprisingly they are seeking special privileges for them just like the medieval church before Henry VIII. But commanding 50 votes in Parliament will not get this through. Why should any other political party give the Labour Party special deals for the trade unions.

Shane Jones has always struck me as a being a blustering bullshit artist – this just confirms it. The level of thinking involved is very scary – constantly playing the man/woman and zero logic.

There is something about Shane Jones that makes me shudder when he speaks. I like to think I can get on with most people, Cullen and Barker being two I have met who are quite personable despite their ideology.
I have not met Shane Jones or Russell Fairbrother for that matter but have the same reaction to both.

Tane Right ON As we have about 230000 private companies in NZ I can just see at least some of them taking out large adverts to ‘ “communicate” with their members. And after all what is different about that and the Unions doing the same to ‘communicate” Unless of course the bastard Socialists then set a numbers limit to thwart those with fewer than X members being the size of the Unions. Wouldnt put it past the bastards. Their idea of a free democracy is vastly different from mine.

From Wikipedia:
In legal parlance, the owners of a company are normally referred to as the “members”. In a company limited by shares, this will be the shareholders. In a company limited by guarantee, this will be the guarantors.

“…at the last election there was a gross mal distribution of who would be able to get what from independant sources.” WTF?
and
“Now if it comes to pass that umm our friends ah informing and maintaining government, umm, can’t get their heads around it, what we’re really going to, ahh, push for though is ensuring that if dough?? continues to flow…”
Interviewer: “Mmm”
Jones: “..even if it is unevenly, people need to know, who are the identities? Why they’re doing it??
Rich interrupts at this point.

This is typical of the Labour Party. They are corrupt and New Zealand is starting to realise it. The spin doctors and strategists within the Labour Party have lost it and the caucus is worried and does not know what to do. People are sick of complicated bureacracy and confusion which is a feature of the 5th Labour Government’s output. Shane Jones has exposed the truths of the Left’s agenda. It is only typical and is what is expected of the left. And what’s worse the greens have followed suit. They have succumbed to the bullying and interrogation of the labour party. They need to realise that people are not stupid, as their Socialist Mentors and Icons would have them belive. Good on Kiwis you’ve seen the light let’s get on with job!

He actually puts his foot in his mouth almost every time he speaks. He has a habit of stringing long words together that individually make the listener think he sounds intelligent, but in the context of a sentence, make no sense at all. He is a pompous, smarmy git who has obviously taken communication lessons from Horomia.
Yet another bloated socialist fucker who deserves a long period of opposition to get back in touch with the voters.
