A West Wing script for the Democrats

This is a great read for fans of the great West Wing TV series.
The New York Magazine has got one of the former West Wing writers to produce a script for what may happen if the Democrats do not get a result before their convention, and it is a brokered convention (as it was on the West Wing).
It’s a hilarious script, taking the piss out of Clinton, Obama and especially the ever lurking Al Gore.

He’s right about one thing… neither of them have a chance against McCain. Americans aren’t dumb, they’ll pick a war-tested patriot over a cocaine-using lawyer or a harpy with a sham marriage any day.

That’s a good read… Was the Clark deal actually done or was it ‘smoke and mirrors’.
Funny thing is I’m doing Four Days in Denver right now… sitting in the Magnolia hotel as I write this…

That was great – Gore as Hoynes was pretty predictable though

Obama is level pegging with McCain and 9 points ahead of Clinton according to Gallop.
The only question is when she admits defeat and whether she goes gracefully.
McCain spends the week giving speeches admitting to being human and far from perfect, in advance of the general.
Rove goes to Harvard and attacks Obama but ignores Clinton (high negatives limited appear to Independents, zero appeal for Republicans). It’s clear who the Republicans fear because he appears to be changing the dynamic. Rove attacks Obama for not being bi-partisan, from someone who has consistently advocated partisanship and zero sum politics.
Meanwhile, after eight years of a big spending Republican administration, a war in Afghanistan escalating, Iraq a quagmire, the US military hopeless overstretched, and the US economy stumbling, some here predict a McCain cakewalk.
It might take a McCain (American National greatness conservative) to exit Iraq and roll back engagement Afghanistan, a la Nixon (anti communist warrior) withdrawing from Vietnam and going to China.

Classic line: “Hillary has never seen this kind of ruthlessness outside of her family.”

Brilliant, possibly true.
