Daily Show parody of Barack Obama video
August 30th, 2008 at 11:00 pm by David FarrarThe Daily Show does have a liberal bias (like most US media) but fuck it is still so very very funny. And their show tonight satirises the Obama obsession very nicely. They do a parody of the Obama biographical video that preceded his speech in their video called Barack Obama:He completes us. Highlights are:
- Obama as the cub in the Lion King
- How his story began 180 million years ago when the continents broke apart
- “The earthly son of a ….”
- God (as a spiritual goat) telling him to run in District 13
- A scene from Rocky!
- How every time Obama speaks, an angel has an orgasm!
It really is funny. Only five minutes long.

I have the Daily Show on MySky series link… its been off the boil a bit lately and some of the toilet humour can be a bit tiring (hence it’s lovely to have the fast forward button) but its still one of my few must-watch shows… I laughed myself silly watching this clip earlier today… some of their parodies are just true genius. Since we’re a day behind them now because of the weekend I watched his first take on Sarah Palin from their website… that was a good laugh too
Jon Stewart/Daily Show is always my go-to show if I need a good laugh

Very well scripted and produced.
He looks a lot like Nelson Mandela to me. Age gap considered.
Obama might also mature nicely in jail for 28 years.
Just joshing.

As it is weekend and we all need to chill, fellow posters might enjoy this clip from the UK X Factor Auditions.
Don’t want any demerit points though.

Not quite as commanding a performance as Barack Obama

Can you really use the term ‘liberal bias’ when it’s (1) essentially a stated raison d’etre and (2) a comedy show that mimics a news show, but is also very clear (to the point of prickliness) that anyone who takes it as a source of news is crazy.
So, liberal, yes. Biased, I wouldn’t say so. Partisan maybe a better word.
Where’s the conservative response? I’d like to so one. Even better… the libertarian response.

A classic as only the Daily Show could do.

Given Hels integrity I thought this video might give her a few ideas about modernising the NZ army:

Given the stat of the New Zealand economy this is probably the only way a New Zealand employee is going to get a raise for the foreseeable future
The Boss
I wonder what the outcome would have been if Gavin had chosen the Oyster Card as his weapon of choice?
I’m guessing that it would corrupt some computer files and victory would still be his.
Prawn sandwich, classic.

“..but is also very clear (to the point of prickliness) that anyone who takes it as a source of news is crazy..”
not so camryn..sure there are the ‘silly bits’..(the appeal/input of ‘rob riggle’ leaves me nonplussed/’dead’/passed by..
..but the ability of the shows’ writers to ‘cut through the crap’..
..are alone worth the price of admission.
..and the righties tried a version/rebuttal..
..all it did was confirm the rightie s.o.h byepass ‘given’..
..and..w.t.f. is ‘funny’ about libertarians..?
..libertarians take that rightie s.o.h. bye-pass..
..and hone it to a fine edge..
..and would have to be the most ‘unfunny’ political cult..ever..

The one where they had a go at hippies was very very good too:
The bastion of open-minded free speech known as Berkeley, California has demanded that the Marines close up their recruiting shop. This makes former Marine Rob Riggle angry. And hippies won’t like him when he’s angry. Dirty effing hippies.

This really should’ve been on a ‘conservative’ comedy show first, has one ever existed I wonder.

Similar to what Reb referred to was Biden’s ‘guess who this is’ – ‘Noun, verb, 9/11′. Heh.
Mr Farrar, why is there a ‘Lion King’ tag for this post?! You never know I guess…

don’t ‘drink’..don’t ‘do’ blow..
..what’s your excuse for your lamentable lack of basic comprehension skills..?
..what don’t you understand..?..darling..?
..do you have anyone who could explain it to you..?

There was a conservative “fake news” show on Fox News (I’m pretty sure, although it may have been another Fox channel) in 2006 – I highly doubt it’s still going, as it was quite possibly the least funny program I’ve ever seen, right up there with Melody Rules.
A quick search says the title was “The 1/2 Hour News Hour”. There’s a bunch of clips on YouTube for anyone who’s feeling they need a little more pain in their lives.
edit – yep, Wiki states it was cancelled after 17 episodes. Also, that “The show’s initial two episodes received generally poor reviews. MetaCritic’s television division, which produces composite scores based on prominent reviewers’ opinions of television pilots, other episodes, and/or DVD releases,[8] gave The Half Hour News Hour pilots a score of 12 out of 100,[9] making it the lowest rated television production ever reviewed on the site.”

Wow, pretty terrible Asher – what the hell was the point of Fox News trying trying to do out-and-out entertainment anyway?! If I wanted entertainment, I would change to a entertainment station!
Worth noting that Jon Stewart has said a few times that his show likes to attack ‘power’, and since we’ve had Bush for nearly 8 years, it was somewhat inevitable that his show would have a ‘pro-liberal bias’, so will be interesting to see what happens if Obama becomes President. I bet the writers are reeeal sick of using ‘Bush-isms’ by now too.

An ability to make light of politics would serve a lot of folk around here very well!
I’m not optimistic that we will see a right-wing biased, politics-based comedy that takes the piss out of its own people any time soon. But I will happily retract this comment as soon as one appears that lasts a season!

Letterman would love it because it’s just SO easy. It’s all about art for the writers. Maybe.

That clip was funny, except for the fact that half of Obama’s supporters seem to believe that crap.
