The new improved slush fund diagram

August 2nd, 2008 at 12:19 pm by David Farrar

Tim Selwyn at Tumeke has done a new and improved version of his NZ First slush fund diagram. It is very well done – easily up to the standard of a newspaper. You can click through for the full size version.

Where are Mike Williams and the Labour Party connections?

Almost there – maybe Mr Selwyn will get it right by version 3.

Flippin’ ‘eck!! I hope the old adage “you’re known by the company you keep” isn’t true, or if that poster gets around I’m screwed :-/

And when I look at that collection of people, all of whom had more direct hands-on dealing with donations than I did (with the possible exception of Tommy Gear, because I didn’t and still don’t have a clue what he does) I’m the only one to have spoken out.

I can only conclude they’re either supportive of Winston or scared of something.

Also the “$25k plus” under Sir Bob makes him look a little ungenerous. Winston has, I think, admitted to receiving $50k ti set the party up. I know of another $50k in 1995. The recent cheque shows another $25k (though that, apparently, went to the fairies at the bottom of Winston’s garden). That’s a total of at least $125,000 and I’ve heard $150,000 and $175,000 mentioned.

So I’d suggest version 3 amend that to read $100,000+.

Awsome DPF. Can you do a diagram of National’s Waitamata Trust as well? I’m sure with your insider knowledge of the National Party, you could do a much more detailed one than what we see above as well. Cheers.

oh and DPF – was it $1.25 million that went through National’s Waitemata Trust slush fund in 2005? Can you also confirm that high-rolling tobacco industry and the racing industry donated secretly through it? That’s what I’ve read anyhow.

Haven’t NZ’s journalists got bigger fish to fry ? Why won’t the National Party confirm where they got the $1.5 million in secret donations from in 2005? Would seem to be a very pertinent question given the National Party’s pious position on Winston’s comparatively minor slush fund, no?

Roger, completely off topic. We are talking about the apparent hypocrisy of Winston, not the generosity of others.

You seem to be forgetting one little detail, which is unfortunately the important detail. You know how much was passed between the Waitemata & Ruahine Trust’s to National, they declared it. Labour also declared their funds from trusts even though they were less well supported than National. However all that distraction aside, how much has NZ1 received from the Spencer trust?

We don’t know do we…. What money has gone where for what? We don’t know do we…. We can’t slag off about it being $1.25m because we don’t know how much it was do we. It’s not about how much roger, it’s about transparency and accountability. Give up blogging roger, you haven’t the brains for it.

It’s about to get newer and better soon. But in the meantime I’ll post the correction and apology over the Vela photo:

    ——-CORRECTION——
The image above has been amended to include the correct photograph of Mr Vela. The photograph used in the previous version of this diagram was of Mr David Ellis. This was a result of a caption misunderstanding – no imputation of involvement in this affair by Mr Ellis was meant by the photo. This was an honest mistake.
    ——-APOLOGY——
Tumeke! unreservedly apologises for this mistake and any inconvenience or distress that it has caused Mr Ellis.

Tumeke! aims for high standards and we have failed in this respect on this occasion. We renew our commitment to get the facts right and keep the facts right, and when alerted to an error we will endeavour to remedy that error promptly.
    ——————————

It’s been fixed up now. DPF, if you wouldn’t mind changing the image too… please. I’m a bit embarassed about it.

    the ‘genorosity of others’..

    eh..?

is that what the rest of us call influence/policy-buying/peddling..?

and i know the right view politics as a way to manipulate the system/everyone else..

..to their own ends/to make themselves/their ‘generous friends’ even richer….

..and you’d rather we didn’t mention it..
