The Rickards payout

The Herald has details of the Rickards payout of $300,000 – representing 13 months salary to the end of his contract.

The Police have fought for a year against revealing this, but the Chief Ombudsman ruled they had to release it.

It’s much more money than anyone would want to pay out. But I don’t blame the Police for agreeing. They knew they had to get Rickards out from his current role, and it was by no means certain they would succeed on disciplinary grounds.
