The Press on Saturday published a power list of the 50 most powerful people in Christchurch. I’ll resist suggesting this will be followed up by the Southland Times publishing a power list of the 100 most powerful people in Gore!
The top 10 are:

- Lady Stewart, benefactor
- Gerry Brownlee, No 3 in Cabinet
- Stephen Collins, company director
