webwrat, you have a nicer tone, a true kiwi, i will also respond nicely. My desire to offend was solely aimed at Lee. He fired first, so I had to respond.
The difference between those bombs and the ones that we dropped is that the other bombs were known to cause “probable undesirable casualties”, especially the scatter bombs, which unfortunately happens in military conflict, whereas in our wrongdoing, we dropped bombs knowing full well that it was going to kill “an infinite number of living things within the immediate area with longterm effects”. Had we not learned from that, we wouldn’t be pushing Iran to end its nuclear ambitions. If we felt that weapons of mass destruction are fair game, we wouldn’t be trying to stop them, instead allow them to fire first and then reply with a few of the 10,000 from our uranium rich arsenal. No need for me to run for president because restaint on the matter of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons is an important part of US foreign policy, unless attacked first, or to prevent an imminent threat. That is not to say that there aren’t some “hawks” as we like to call them, the extreme right wingers hell bent on striking preemptive for dubious causes, such as Iraq. But the Bushes and Cheyney’s days are done.
Your natural instinct might suggest that I am on 2 different ends-Fiji(military rule) and US (leading republic, not democracy). quite the contrary. US has hardly been harsh towards Fiji the way NZ has. Why ? Because they are smart enough to understand that military rule doesn’t paint the whole picture, and in fact supported pakistan’s dictator for quite some time. BTW, if they really wanted to send Fiji a message, Senator McCain wouldn’t be in Fiji vacationing right now, and he’s a moderate republican.! That paints as clear a picture as any about US view of Fiji, even though they favor democracies. I don’t think i offended, i spoke the truth which hurts sometimes.
The other thing I will point out about a true democratic system like the US, is there is debate and disagreements. that is hardly the case in NZ. Clark and Key seem like bossom buddies, hanging out in the corner of lunch rooms discussing foreign policy. Is this true democracy. And if they both have the same beliefs, then why use NZ taxpayer money and have elections ? It’s well known in the pacific that clark is a joke, and now it appears key is incompetent. To stick with the foreign policy of a previous administration without even having a look at it is amateurish. It seems more like a communist system disguised in different parties.

NZ_outtaFIJI, big boys games by Fiji, you do seem to forget one small detail, NZ and Australia can easily stuff the Fijian economy by declaring Fiji to be a danger to any NZ or Aussie tourists.
Of course leaning on the airlines to drop a few services to Fiji would have the same result.
