Cast breaks $3,000 mark

February 2nd, 2009 at 8:44 am by David Farrar

Bidding for the cast, with a week to go, has already broken the $3,000 mark after settling at $1,300 overnight.

Great to see so many people willing to donate to charity.

Some of the questions to date have been amusing, such as whether one can use Winston’s car to pick the cast up.

so..you’d be supporting keys’ impending decision (this morning) not to raise the minimum wage..?

    ..eh..?

    ..on purely ideological/class grounds..?

    ..not logical/rational/economic-stimulus ones..?

If this was my blog I’d delete that off topic post and ban that worthless fucker indefinitely for constant link whoring.

Get this loser- forget about your damn links- nobody wants to read the rambling and worthless shit of someone who is such a shameless bludger. If they did, you wouldn’t have to abuse this site with your constant unpaid advertisments.

You can tell people how to distribute the cake when you start contributing to its making.

He’s a good example of the excesses of the welfare state, and how totally detached from reality socialists are. Most of his adult life has been spent leeching off the education and welfare system that capitalism affords.

If I remember correctly recently Prime Ministers of New Zealand have a habit of selling things for charity that they sign.

Of course if Helen were selling a cast I imaging she would have gotten someone else to break their arm for her …

Isn’t it great to have a refreshing new Prime Minister with integrity to lead us through these challenging times.

I love that Whoar blog, post after post have no comments, no comments, no comments, no comments no comments. He’s like that uncool kid at school who no one wanted to hang out with. In fact I bet he was that kid!

On the 10:00 news on the radio, they said the bid was only up to $1400. That’s RadioWorks for you, right up to date with the news.

    7000 top bid at present.

Great idea by JK’s staff. Some of the questions are classics, but I think the staff are taking it a bit too seriously.

Given that the Beehive is public property, I wonder why they won’t allow pick ups? what a great photo opportunity for Key and some great free PR it would be.

A bloody good cause too. Top effort by all concerned.

Question: If Key breaks another arm, will this cast lose half its value?
Suggestion: If this cast sells for a good price, Key should consider doing what is necessary to qualify for a far more saleable and valuable full-body cast.
All the best with the auction John.

Greenfly- you should put this as a possible fundraiser to the Greens. I for one would bid a huge amount for Keith Lockes neck brace

    this is not ‘off-topic’..

..not only have you studiously ignored 2/12 years of warnings/evidence of this economic meltdown..

..but now..when even the herald is glibly tossing the ‘d’/depression word around..

..you just parrot yhe usual rightwing garbage for why the poorest workers should still be screwed the most..

..(are you unaware of the ‘stimulus-arguments’ around this..?..

    ..you persist with these irrelevancies/distractions..

..yet you aspire to be thought of as a ‘serious’ commentator..?

    ..go figure..!

Philu – the minimum wage may not be going up, but I dare say mine won’t be going up this year either.

I’m no right-wing cheerleader, but I work in a small-enough company to see that money has to be made to pay wages, and if there’s less money around to be made, the workers are just as out of luck as the bosses are!

PS: Good on Key for doing this. Again, I voted for the other side but I like Key so far. And it’s interesting to see there are still people around willing to drop $3,000 on something like this – I don’t know if buying a charity item off TradeMe would be tax-deductible?
